Hi,
Anyone got it working? I've tried many times, it can see the folders and files but when i click on any video files and add to playlist or right click/play, the player would load and just stay that way no video or nothing.
Thanks
Edit: android stock 2.21
This is strange, what are u using to share (ur server), windows (xp or vista or 7)?
or maybe another android phone?
Hi,
I am using my router's usb port with a harddrive attached. I tried using my windows 7 pc to watch the videos everything is fine but not my i9003. Tried to watch a video that is shared via my windows 7 pc on my i9003 doesn't work either, just loading the video and then nothing.
Thanks

How is this supposed to work? If my PC ( win7 64bit ) is on and I have enabled streaming ( I currently can stream to my PS3 in another part of the house) i should be able to see my files on the phone and stream from the PC to my phone, right?
Unfortunately i don't see any media servers listed. This is with the phones wifi turned on or off.
Has anyone else gotten All Share to work?
Work on my Macbook
Works on my un55c6500.

yes. but maybe it only goes from teh phone to the computer? Not sure...
I'm also having trouble getting Allshare to play media from my pc (win7 x64, running PS3 Media Server). I can see the server and files on the phone, but they won't play, even transcoded ones.
Works for me connecting to a Vista machine.
Works fine for me on W7 64bit. I'm using windows media player to serve. It's pretty fast too and great quality. I jumped around on the videos and it buffered pretty fast and without any problems. I'm liking it a lot. The only trick is sorting out which videos are playable. It doesn't like certain codecs.
So how do you get it to work? It sees my shared drive on my computer but no files come up.

Same issue, same setup.
HI guys can you help me with problem.
I can see all my photos and movies on my phone via dlna on WIndows 7,
and i can play and pause it right on the phone, I can use my phone as a remote,
all works well.
But I cant find the same thing for OSX,
i can only share files from my Imac, i cant use it just as a screen like on a PC.
Does anyone know how can i solve this mystery?
I have HTC Sensation,
Tnx,
Marko
Well first off, are you running any DLNA or UPnP app on your Mac? You'll need one. Some good examples are Playback, Rivet, Plex, Connect360.
I'm not too familiar with the Sensation, but does it include or have a DLNA client built in?
yes i have connected media, it works fine with windows
Searched and couldnt find anything on this.
I am trying to import a bunch of photos and videos that I took with the GNex (4.0.2) to my computer (Win7 64bit). I have tried using MTP and also connecting my phone and using a media file importer (Windows Live Photo Viewer) and nothing seems to work. It is constantly freezing.
Anyone know any tricks to get this on my computer without using ADB?
Thanks...
Use a cloud service as an intermediate step. Upload the files from phone to Dropbox, for example, and download them from there to your PC.
I recently switched to an Optimus 2x and installed Paranoid Android CM9 with the supplied stock kernel. No great problems except MTP does not work on either of my Win7 laptops which have Professional N version installed. This is the version without Windows Media Player.
I tried the phone on two PC's with Media Player installed and MTP worked perfectly. Also tried on Linux Mint 13 which didn't even see the phone! A first for any Linux dist in my experience. I did try installing the Microsoft hotfix which more or less installs Media Player on N versions but ran into installer problems on both laptops. Media Player is hard coded into Windows supposedly which means installing the full version of Media Player on the N version is impossible.
I then installed Harsh kernel which allows me to use the more normal (in my opinion) mass storage mode and can at last connect to and drag and drop files to my phone.
So my question:
What is the point of MTP if it requires Windows Media Player?
Am I the only one coming up against this problem?
Why does MTP not work with Linux Mint?
Has anybody a solution for those of us who don't have Media Player installed by default?
I'm here because I keep on getting this page in the top of my results... it deserves an answer.

What is the point of MTP if it requires Windows Media Player? My best guess is it's part of Windows Media Player because (1) Microsoft designed it, or heavily influenced it, and (2) they didn't see a purpose for having it on their computers unless people were going to use it to transfer music via Windows Media Player.
Am I the only one coming up against this problem? 1.11 You are (not) Alone
Why does MTP not work with Linux Mint? It looks like doing this is possible, but not by default. See here for more details:

Has anybody a solution for those of us who don't have Media Player installed by default? Get Windows Media Player. For me this involved getting a giant download from Microsoft, and then restoring Windows to a previous point, before the download would even install. Your mileage may vary.
It's here, for free (for "Verified" versions of Windows of course):

looks like you have switched from iphone you just need to "copy" and "paste" the music in the storage and nothing else
the player will automatically detect it from anywhere in the phone.

I haven't switched from iPhone, been a htc user.
When i connect s6 to mac using usb then load up kies i get this pop up
An alternative is you can boot to Windows using Boot Camp. Connect your S6 via USB. Windows will recognize your S6 as a USB drive. Copy and paste all your music files to a folder on your S6. Your S6 will recognize the music files automatically. This worked for me and my macbook pro.

Use Android File Transfer for Mac OSX
https://www.android.com/filetransfer/
You mean on OS X, the phone does not show up as a normal starge device where you can copy your files?
Man, S6 is a Samsung device not HTC. i thought it was an IP 6s, lol. For android, the process is quite simple, just copy and paste music to the Music folder on your phone. Make sure the format is supported by Android, like MP3, WMV, etc... DRM protected music will not work on the device.
Samsung seems to be transitioning from KIES to Smartswitch. KIES does not support the most recent phones.
