From what I can observe, this should be in "Q&A" instead of general.
With that said, it would be helpful for us to know what troubleshooting you have already tried so not to waste your time or ours.
*Try wiping dalvik cache, reboot and try again.
Didn't work? - Try Fix Permissions, reboot and try again.
Didn't work? - check MD5 Sum of downloaded Rom zip. - Incorrect? - redownload and flash again. - Correct? - Try wiping data/cache/dalvik x2 - Try again.
*Check settings again...
Search CM7 thread using forum tools and check for keywords like that mention your problem. - No results, check 20 pages before last post and determine if anyone else experienced and resolved the issue. - Didn't work? Ask kindly by starting your post with "I searched the last 20 pages but couldn't see anyone else experience this problem. "explain problem in short/concise details" and then mention what you have done to troubleshoot....
Didn't work? - Use another ROM that plays nicer with your phone.
Good luck and hope this helps.

Everything u said I tried and as far as going to a different rom I don't like any other rom this is the most stable

Continuos vibration..draining battery

I am using Dutty's 6.1 hybrid Rom. But a major problem is with the vibration. I have selected Vibrate and ring and then the phone vibrates continiously with the ringtone. When it was with the Stock rom the phone didn't vibrate constantly. This is eating a lots of battery ...Pls pls find some way to STOP this.
BTW- Pls don't say that i have to select vibrate then ring option.
When you have it set to vibrate and ring please look at and post the contents of the following registry key:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0
list all values and data
thx
Also make sure you understand the expected behavior:
Vibrate AND ring will mean it will play the ringtone and vibrate all through the ring tone.
Vibrate THEN ring will mean it will vibrate once for a few seconds then play the ringtone.
Which one have you selected and explain what you think it is doing that is not normal....
I think he may be talking about its a constant vibrate rather than a pulsing vibrate, mine does the same thing. I'll get those values here in a minute.
My kaiser sometimes won't stop vibrating after receiving an email(not on sms).
This started to happen after installing no thrills. When i press the power button until the dialog to shutdown appears, and press no the vibrations stop. The only real annoyance is when there is an email in the middle of the night.

Hi,
Maybe this can help:
check reg: HCU - ControlPanel - sounds - RingTone0 - Script
a = activate
V = Vibrate
P = play sound
w= wait
r= repeat
maybe you have something like: avr
You should have something like: av2pw2r
This way you tell the device to activate, then vibrate, then play ringtone, then wait for 2 seconds, the repeat the instruction...
cheers

I get this too, but it doesn't happen with every email. I find just hitting the start button stops it, but if I'm not near the phone, it's really annoying and drains the battery.

That means:
Vibrate(v) continuously(0) and play ringtone(p) for 3 seconds (w3) then repeat(r).
If you don't want continuous vibration, use something like:
av3pw3r
Vibrate(v) 3 seconds (3) and play ringtone(p) for 5 seconds (w5) then repeat(r).
well then....seems as if i have passed on my little problem to you fine people. i've been complain of this for months now. I have hunted dutty down for many hours to fix this but no luck. from what i can tell the issue has to do with sound.
if you notice it only happens when the phone is promoted to play sound...phone call....text...or email. Sometimes (depending on the radio) if you let it sit for a few seconds (we're talking 40 seconds or so) you'll notice the last half secants of the sound will play, then the vibration will stop. Other times or most of the time, the last bit of the sound does not play, so the phone continues to vibrate.
to tell the truth i've been way to lazy to find out what it is that stops he last bit of sound from playing, but trust me when i tell youz...thats the issue.
my quick fix is to FORCE it to play sound. How? just hit the red phone button. That little beep it makes is all you need. once you hit the end button the vibrating is done. it hasn't happen too many times with the newer builds...but it still happens. its a bug i just accepted.

this bug can be remove by the rom builder. so i am requesting mr.dutty to solve this problem. hope you understood what we are saying. we just need pulse vibration rather than the constant vibration like the original htc rom.
Thanks.

If you haven't applied the reg hack, the question clearly was not directed to you. So let me put that again: Can someone who applied the reg hack in post #10 and is not trying to play the smart### confirm to me if it works on his/her device?
In the meantime: I have tried and put av1pw3r (meaning, according to post #10, that the vibration would last 1 second). I sofreset immediately after and confirmed that the hack sticked.
But got the continuous vibration at least once after that. I'm on Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700 with the cube.
I have learnt from experience that I could make the vibration stop if I started a call...
I had this problem when I flashed a ROM and kept the older radio to see how it would work. When I updated the radio it went away. Try changing radios it might work for you.

No vibrating for texts

I recently installed the gingerbeast rom on my phone, and now, whenever I get texts, there is no vibration. The text tone works, and my phone vibrates for calls and pressing buttons, but it doesn't vibrate for texts, even when I set it to always vibrate. Is that part of the rom, or is there something wrong with my phone??
i would assume rom. try doing a fullwipe and installing another rom just to see.
I'd go through the rom thread and see if anyone else has experienced your issue (though, this is cumbersome)...
Try clearing the dalvik cache and reboot....
Is vibrate (in message settings) enabled?
If that doesn't work, try out this app. I used it on the stock rom and it worked wonderfully. I'd bet that it would do the trick for you too.
Open up your text app. Hit menu>setting >notification setting. Their just change as you see fit

Um...wow, I feel stupid now. >< haha thank you guys for the help!
Glad I could help. I'm still learning the ins and outs of gingerbeast as well

[Q] notifcations won't vibrate, any fix?

I recently just flashed the embryo 5.4 rom and its a great but the only problem is I can't make the notifcations vibrate for anything. I've made sure the vibrate function is enabled everywhere ( under the settings, messaging app, etc) the intensity is all the way up and still nothing. I also have the vibrate on screen tap funtion on and that doesn't seem to work either. I've flahsed this over twice already, no reboots fix it. I'm out of ideas. Anyone have any idea how to fix it? I've searched around on here and the web but no answers

Not sure if this ROM has profiles, but I had a similar problem with CM9 a while back. Turns out I had enabled a nighttime profile by accident, and everything was set as normal, except I had vibrate disabled for notifications. Once I disabled and deleted all those profiles, everything was back to normal.
Ive been having the same issue with only SMS notifications. All others will sound/vibe normally.
Flash 5.0 base = working vibe on sms
Update 5.4= no vibe on sms
Any possible solution? Md5 checks OK.

i had the exact same issue, or more precisely :
I receive or pass a call. then, instead of going to the "in call" screen with the big red "hang up" button, i'm back to the home screen...
now this can happen, if i press the home button, but i don't. And if that was that, then first i would have the small "phone" logo in the upper left notification telling me i'm currently in call, and the "in call" screen would be accessible from the task manager, however the task manager displays absolutely nothing.... just like i wasn't making any call at all, except i can hear the person on the other side in my speaker.
Then i click on the big blue phone logo to get to the dialer screen, but i then get a screen which i never had before, with a black transparent background, proposing me to either use the default keyboard (if i click it i get the keyboard), either to "return to current call", and when i click it, i'm back to the homescreen... so the only way to hang up is to shut the phone down...
it's happened to me twice yesterday, but never before....
PS: just so we might find a common app that would cause the issue, i have installed on my N5 these apps :
dashclock
file manager
prochain bus
ridiculous fishing
sygic
today calendar
vlc
and thats all. Any of you have some apps in common ?
I also had the same issue during the first week or so...but with tym and aftr update the issue vanished!! Since 2014 i nvr faced this issue again!!

Different Dialer problem
Hi,
I am rooted running beanstalk. But before flashing had stock rom then Purity.
This problem happened after flashing Purity ROM.
When I make or receive a call, my screen goes blank and I cannot do,anything to wake the phone, unless the other party ends the call and then the screen may wake up if I touch the screen?!
Anyone else, please help.

Black screen on incoming calls

I have a very strange problem on my Nexus 5.
Some times when i receive an incoming call, i hear the ringtone, the device vibrates but i dont see anything on my display. Just a black screen, Also pressing the power button, i see the lock screen, unlocking the phone will not show the call either. if i select the dialer application i get the screen in the dialer with 3 options:
1) use touch tone keypad
2)return to call in process
3)add call
By pressing "return to call in process" nothing happens.
The problem is gone after restarting the device.
I read somewhere that this may be a proximity sensor problem due to screen protectors. I removed mine, and it continued having the problem.
Is there anything i can do to fix it [reseting the phone will be the last resort].
Thanks
I encountered this problem too, and now a new problem is my phone dead, cant turn it on.
any advice?

Can you get into bootloader so you can flash the factory image? Did you press the power button for about 10-15 seconds to force boot first.
Mine boots up as supposed to. Today i didn't have the incident.
Is this not a common problem?

Are you running stock or a custom ROM and if so what rom. Also if you could pull a logcat it could be easier to diagnose.
P.S. have you tried clearing data for the dialer app.

If you are worried about losing your call logs, they can be backed up a ton of different ways. When I don't have root, I use this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.CallLogBackupRestore&hl=en
Very lightweight and easy to use.

This problem is getting on my nerves!!
I hope 4.4.3 solves a lot of bugs of N5! Its a shame that an excellent device like this causes such problems.
Also another problem my friends are reporting, is that, they call me, it rings 3 times and then it hangs like if the device is powered off or i canceled the call. And i dont even hear it ring, or find an answered call.
Is there a chance all these problems to be linked on my provider?

I started thinking that maybe its caused by a 3rd-party application, but it seems that other Nexus 5 owners experiencing the same problem as well..
After some thinking i used factory reset on my device yesterday evening just to rule out the possibility below:
As soon as i have purchased the device Google Now wasn't available. So i read in a forum that in order to fix this you have to somehow trick the device that you are situated in a country where Google Now is available. So i downloaded an app (GPS fixing??) and positioned my device to UK, remove something and then install it again(Google services). That fixed the problem and Google Now was available.
Maybe something went wrong there and i was experiencing these problems..
So far so good. Then again to be sure if that was the problem i have to give it at least 2 weeks.
I will get back to you for the results.
