[Q] rotation help please - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way lock the screen in portrait mode. This is a big deal for me and will have to move on to something else if I can't do it. I love Asus and would hate to have to return it.

Haha, if you asked for a landscape lock then it's easy. Is there an app for your need ?
Edit: just learn the trick from the other post, our TF has a software lock: hold the screen in portrait mode --> touch the bottom-right display ---> turn off auto-rotation.

Yay. Thank you tons. That's exactly what I was looking for. Let me test some apps and get back to you.

All landscape phone

I found out to day that you can download an app called orientation control. This app make your phone completely in landscape mode when you what it. You also can have it set to auto to switch when apps like the phone.apk doesnt fit on screen in landscape mode.
This apps forces the app to go into the mode you have set. It comes and handy sometimes. I like to use it because the sidekick 4g is a landscape device.
So for the people how want that the app the is on the market. ;-)

Thanks for this! I don't see why they didn't add this option in the first place since sidekicks were always In landscape mode.

Orientation Control by Coin Soft? That's a paid app. Any free apps to do the job?

Read the rules, that's Warez and is grounds for immediate ban. It is illegal to share links to paid apps.

Almost perfect...
This is exactly what i was looking for, with one exception, when I lock my sidekick in landscape, everything is in landscape except for the lockscreen, any ideas to keep the lockscreen in landscape too??
It just depends on the lockscreen you have, my lockscreen changes to landscape , so I much depend on the one you have.

Yeah i figured it out, if turn auto rotate on from the notification bar while using the app to lock phone in landscape, then my whole phone will be locked in landscape and my lockscreen will auto rotate, but that doesn't bother me.
My problem before was that my phone was locked in landscape, and my lockscreen was locked in portrait. but i resolved it.

Keyboard questions!

Just a couple of questions about the keyboard, is the auto correction for it not that sensitive? I mean I can use lowercase i and slam the keyboard like so asidhai and nothing happens? I have had a look in settings and it is has auto correction on, so a bit weird why it doesn't seem to be doing much.
Also, it sometimes doesn't work when connected, and I have to push it in a bit more or disconnect and connect again. Assuming this is normal, but just a quick note!

I don't believe there is any kind of auto-correct for typing on the physical keyboard, that comes in to play when you're using the on-screen keyboard. As for the disconnect and connect again issue, I sometimes get that problem, but rarely. My only guess is it has something to do with the TF going into deep sleep, as that is the only time I seem to run into that little bug.
It can be quite annoying, but I guess it is easier to spot them. There are options for auto correct if I beleive correctly, but they don't do anything.

you might want to look into Swift Key X, it has a pretty good auto correct. and if it works like it does on the G2 then it will also work with the dock keyboard.
I've got the phone version, just trying out the tablet version now, thanks for the advice!

[Q] Dose it vibrate?

I just got my tf700 & all was good until I noticed that there was no feedback on keyboard presses. I've tried everything & I don't think the tf700 has a vibrating motor.
Is that true? or I just got a defective unit AS ALWAYS!

mine vibrates
go to setting in the keyboard
then android keyboard settings
then expert settings and there vibration time is set to -1
set a higher value and it vibrates

I've been using the dock a lot lately, but if I recall correctly I'm pretty sure on-screen keyboard presses make noise from the speaker but do not vibrate. However, I know my tf700 vibrates every time I shut down the device or boot it up.
I've just tried setting it on in SwiftKey and I've found out that it was on all the time, so it definitely does not respond with vibrations, lol.
Mine vibrates on bootup too.
Might be a software thing, as the battery is certainly capable of vibrating, as the booting vibrations prove.
Well... Turns out that my unit is defective. I have no vibrations whatsoever on boots of shutdowns too.

Cool, it's working! Can be felt at about 30ms and higher.
Unfortunately this is for the Android keyboard only - and using it for a minute made me realise how much I love SwiftKey right now

Seems like, too bad looks like you will have to replace it.
Take mine, take mine! I hate vibrations.

I'm using Thumb Keyboard and it vibrates when pressing keys. Check your settings, and do remember that Asus installed their own keyboard as the default. The stock Android one is there, and you can always install another

Inadvertent screen shot

I occasionally get an inadvertent screen shot when touching the recent apps button. I barely touch it, the recent apps aren't displayed, and I get a screen shot. Very annoying. Anyone else experience this?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
I did experience this a lot while I had the stock from installed along with it before rooting and unlocking. I installed Zeus' rom and I have yet to have the problem.

Just turn the "long press recent apps for screenshot" setting off in the settings menu
Why not just disable it in the ASUS customized setting menu?
Yes, just turn it off and use the built-in Android way to do it: Vol Down + Power.
The Recent apps menu and button is so damn laggy I kept getting tons of unwanted screenshots when I had that feature activated.

Well I didn't want to turn it off, but now that I know there's another way to take a screen shot I will.
Thanks for the info.

I got fed up with screen shots every time I hit the multi task button until I did this. Maybe when JB drops this won't be a problem anymore.

.[Q] Keyboard with no battery

Hi there,
It's about time I root my infinity but before I do I just want to check up on some issues to see if it's warranty or just an annoyance I'll have to live with...
Whenever my keyboard is out of battery while the tablet is not, my tablet seems to turn off while not being actively used. Is the the way it's supposed to work, or at least the way it works for everyone?
Thank you for reading!

Yep, if you mean turns the screen off. You can set the time out under display settings. No, if you mean completely shuts the tab down.
