The movies category isn't showing up on my HTC Hero. Could it be because of my phone or ROM? (I'm running CM7)

Works for me on my HTC EVO 3D.

Works perfectly on my droid x. I love the new style, it looks a lot sleeker than the original.

Same with my htc desire.
here http://androidcommunity.com/android-market-3-0-26-hands-on-and-review-20110713/ is says:
This is an early release of the app and if you want to use any Movies or eBooks you’ll have to grab a new official version of Google’s Videos and Books apps, already ready to go in the Android Market (whatever version you’ve got) right this minute.

but i cannot find that app.
The description of apps is also not in my language (dutch) its in English, or sometimes in chinese. So i deleted the update again. Back to old market.

Confirmed working on my Droid X2.
I'm still not fond of the design, though it is a definite improvement over the old market.

Working on the Mytouch 4g. The new interface looks reminiscent to tiles on Windows Phone, meh.

well i rarely leaves comment on any site but your blog is really so amazing that i can't stop myself from making comment on it...

I like the new market, a little too flashy though.

true but I know its a way around that
Sent from my evo using XDA App
um there already "live" widgets. every widget is inherently live, otherwise its just an icon. what specifically are you looking for
how about some live app shortcuts... to use with Desktop Visualizer etc.
they could move around in different directions and such
imagine a blue wallpaper and icons shaped like clouds that are around your screen
adam might be on to something haha
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
but what I was sayin tho my widgets don't move they just sit on the screen that gets old after a while I already got moving walpapers the widgets should do some moving too like for the messages widgets the mail icon u just see a little blue picture and lines the lines should be letters...it should look like I'm typing something

There is a company that is working on some impressive stuff like what you are talking about. Check out tatHome. They have a bunch of videos that shows what they are working on and rumor has it that it will work on android devices.

Are you talking about something like the PDA in Iron Man 2 that what's his face uses? I thought it was badass to have a phone like that.

I checked out that tathome stuff.....and while it is ridiculously sick....its been in the works for just about a year now. I saw this work of genius seven months or so ago, and its still not out with any word of where its progress is at or perhaps a release date. This would keep me from switching to WP7 by the end of the year....but as of now the UI android has is not as smooth as it sooo could be, as everyone can plainly see in the demo video of tathome.
If anyone has any word on this, I'm quite sure it would be much appreciated by alot of people.
if you build it...they will come...
agreed, tathome looked sick... S E V E N months ago. sad its not released yet, i signed up for beta and STILL no word...not that i care a whole lot, but it did look smooth.
however, the switching back to a winmo device from evo is a bit harsh. i would rather be beaten to death by kimbo slice with a g1 before doing such a thing...

They had a beta testing program but they closed it. I've been keeping my eye out to see I'd they open it up to testing again.
What's your setup? Sense is real smooth for me.
I'm not impressed with win7.
But a few things look cool.
I'f you want to see the future of android check out mozilla seabird.

This is definitely a must have for the EVO.
If there has been no public development it is because some large company wrote a large check to either shelve it or use it in their own phones.

I just though I would tell everyone that iphone keyboard emulator has been updated recently and it is amazing. It now looks just like the iphone and has a user dictionary. I would grab it while you can for free. Its in the market.

It's not half bad. It needs a lot of work, first of all predicitions, as well as an update to the griddy graphics.

Link is working fine. You don't see it in the market because its not compatible with the Tbolt.

The link works fine. But it says that my Thunderbolt is "not a supported device."
The link is broken because of the http and https mashed together at the beginning. If you remove the https it works fine. It is definitely disappointing but I imagine they'll add support for the TB eventually.

Maybe you should put a minute amount of effort into search before you crap on someone. Now who has egg on their face? That's right you do...

I wonder if changing the device ID is enough to fool the netflix app... I hope someone here figures it out...
Based on the permissions this app requires, it probably reads the build.prop file to determine which phone you are using.
Any way to trick the app into thinking we're using an Incredible or something?

I'm with you on the 2nd gen Snapdragon thing. Everything I read about the LG Revolution said that it could only run the Netflix app because it has a Qualcomm MSM8255 (same chip that is in the T-bolt).
so wait my girls one year old evo can play netflix but my brand new thunderbolt cant? Really watching windows 7 man.
somebody pulled the apk but it still does not work on the Thunderbolt. The apk seems to look at the phone it is on when loading. I dont have enough post to post a link so edit the following.

what happen to all that drm talk?
Give it some time. This is what Netflix says on their blog:
The Market download will initially be available only on select phones that currently have the requisite playback support. We expect to quickly add to the number of phones that can download from Android Market as we work with ecosystem partners to expand playback support.

It only makes sense for them to first support phones which have been out longer, and have a larger installed base.
Can it be that the reason the Thunderbolt won't be sporting Netflix is because Verizon had blockbuster preinstalled?

[Q] New to rooting; best Gingerbread ROM?

Hi there,
I'm very new to Android and the rooting procedure. Basically, I switched from an iPhone to an HTC Inspire 4G after 4 years.
I'm going to try and root my phone tonight, and also unlock it and put HTC Sense 3.0 on it, but one thing I have been unable to find is a stable ROM for Android 2.3 that is as close to the stock version as possible. It may be right under my nose, but I haven't had any luck. If anyone could provide a download link, or a URL that points to where I could find one, that would be very much appreciated! Thanks!
Best one for HTC sense 3 is CoreDroid. My opinion.

It might be best for you to not jump right into rooting your phone. Spend some time seeing how your phone works out of the box and what you might want to change. During that time spend time on this forum just reading and gathering knowledge. The more you read, the more answers you will already have.
Just my suggestion.

I really like the new sense 3.0 functions that are ported on the coredroid 6.5. P.S. It might be better to root before you get all your apps setup and installed like I did. Then I had no way of backing up since I had no root access and had to setup everything from scratch again.
Thanks for all the help guys.
darkside, I've actually had to phone for about a month now. Funny you mention using it and seeing what I'd want to change, cause one of the first things I did after a week of usage was make a small list of just those things haha.
In addition to unlocking the Inspire, and putting Sense 3.0 and 2.3 on it, the only other thing I really want to do is get all of that annoying AT&T bloatware off. That, and find something that can fix the battery life. I have no idea how to do either, so I think I will take everyone's advice and do some more reading before attempting this.
I'm using MIUI and its doing excellent for me.

Excellent advice.
You really, really, really should have a baseline by which to judge subsequent roms you flash.
Otherwise, you'll never have a full sense of what's working better or worse than something else.

Are you using the MIUI Rom here in the US on AT&T....and do you have any problems with apps in the app market? I want to find a decent GB rom but it seems like most are geared more toward the UK.
For example I'm using ClearDroid, I do a search in the market for the "Xfinity TV" app. It shows right up...I jump on LeeDroids rom, and no "Xfinity TV" app to be found.....And thats with installing Morelocale2 before setting up my google account. Obvioiusly I could care less about the app....it just makes me wonder what other apps are hidden from my view.

Something to consider
not all Infuse Roms will work with Instagram. I say this because I used a alt. rom and it changed the name of the phone ( i997 to i997blah blah blah ) and therefore the site says my phone is not compatible with the app. Just a tidbit to make sure there are no disappointed ppl trying to get the app of their dreams just to find out it does not want to load. So until I can find the APK and force load it. I will have to suffer for the choice I made to change my ROM.
google search for APK was fruitful and loading it locally seemed to work quite nicely. So if you get the message that it is not compatible and you are sure it is listed on the "cleared" phone list then go here Instagram APK. Hope this helps anyone else with the same issue I had
