Feature Request -- Email link - General Topics

Greetings, I would like to request a feature to be added to the forums. Please consider adding a "Email attachment" feature which would allow you to email attachments on post to a specified email address and perhaps even include an option to select a time/date for it to be emailed. There have been a few times that such a feature would have been great to have.

what does "Watch this topic for replies" do on thi

what does "Watch this topic for replies" do on this website (which can be found at the bottom of a post)? i thought it makes a list somewhere in my login account or somehow alerts me so i can more easily trace the ones i'm interested in piled up in those millions and millions of posts. can somebody pls explain, thanks?
No it doesn't make a list somewhere but send you a mail when a new message is posted in a thread.
well, that's strange then, cos i've never received any notifications by email when there's a new reply (whether it's my own topics or ones i want to watch). i've just re-checked my "profile" and my email addrs is correct, and that all the notifications were "yes" (as attached). and every time i post, "Notify me when a reply is posted" is also ticked. is there another setting somewhere?
That's odd. I usually get duplicate notification (2 messages per update) but only for the last topic I posted to. I don't think they save a list, just one topic per user.
Works ok for me
I watch about 15 topics & receive an email after each post. Although it would be nice to see all sucscribed topics in a list.
so wot am i doing wrong?? can anyone see anything suspicious in my profile settings?
Your profile settings look ok. Does your email account have some kind of spam filter? It is possible that the messages get blocked for some reason by the mail server. You should try a different email (there are plenty of free ones out there)
oh my gosh... I changed from a hotmail to another email addrs...and it's working, thanks a million. It must have been the hotmail spam filter.

Whats the deal with google+? (Invite HERE also :) )

So, I have been hearing so much about google+, but to me it seems alot like facebook with some add-ons. How do you think it will turn out? Also, hopefully if anyone has a spare invite could they send it to nick.wittek9(at)gmail.com. It would be much appreciated! I hope this isn't breaking any rules or anything, even after that noob video 0.0.
*UPDATE* - If anyone wants to be nice and try this:
Create a new Circle and call it Invite. Add a new contact to the circle by using "Add a new person" and enter ONLY the Emailadress.
Save it and view the newschannel of the newbuilt group by clicking "View stream for this circle".
Post a new statusupdate in the channel. Hover over the blue button with the Circle name. Activate the option "Notify about this post", also there should be a checkmark on "Also email
XXX people not yet using Google+" and then press "share".
The users in the Circle "Invite" should now receive a email with your status update. Inside this email should be a link "Show post of YYY or comment".
By clicking the link you should land on the Google+ start page. Registration should now be possible. At some times you can't register it only helps to try later again!
Thanks in advance!
All I have been seeing about invites is that they don't work at the moment Probably too many people trying to jump on it right now.
I've been receiving invites from a couple of colleagues but the only thing that happens is that Google+ is telling me "Already invited? We're out of capacities right now, please try again later."
About Google+ itself: yes, it's like Facebook but *without* addons (as there's no API, yet). The only big difference seems to be that the way you post information to "groups" (called "circles" in Google+) should be better in keeping you from informing your boss that your jobs sucks
Maybe google doesnt like SE puts fb stuff to every menu in their android phones?
No Invites at the moment but a workaround
My Google ID is [email protected]. So if someone with an account wants to try it out please include me in the invitation circle!

Display sender's name instead of email address to the recipient. Sgr

I am using the default email client!(social hub) as provided by Samsung.
Whenever I send a message to anyone, my email address is shown.
As per me there is no such option where I can set the display name as is available in majority of email clients.
But still i would like to set my display name as my name and not my email address..
Please don't ask me to login via Web and change display name there. As its the property of email client and not of the email service provider....

Why are you starting a new thread for this buddy ?
You have asked this question already &
here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1820638
Kindly understand that starting a new thread won't help you get an answer faster or better, you could wait for someone to answer the question in the previous thread.
This ^ is correct. Please don't create duplicate threads just because your first one doesn't get an answer. There's always the Q&A thread which gets a bit of traffic, too.
Thanks!

Get "Google Inbox" activated NOW, free!

# MESSAGE FOR MODERATORS #
The following, DISPOSABLE Gmail email addressed were created by me - JUST NOW - for the SOLE purpose of spreading Google Inbox invites. I DO NOT use the addresses, I DO NOT CARE if they get spam, there are solely for generating Google inbox invites. They have passwords NOTHING LIKE my own password, and fake credentials. Please, PLEASE DO NOT remove the email addresses in this post, as - again - they are EMPTY, do not contain ANY contacts or contact info, many thanks.
Here - these two (disposable) Gmail accounts have just been created, and are Google Inbox activated and ready. All you need to do is add one of these accounts to your Android device (turn off ALL SYNC on the temporary account, if I were you), then launch (or install then launch) Google Inbox app ON THE ANDROID DEVICE, then go to Inbox app, and "Settings >> Manage Accounts" and select YOUR Gmail account, then REMOVE the disposable account from your device(s), as YOU are now Google Inbox activated on YOUR account. So, here are the credentials needed:
username #1: [email protected]
password: "sillypassword"
username #2: [email protected]
password: "sillypassword"
If you can't understand what I mean about switching accounts, read this:

Enjoy
Didn't work for me, as soon as I switch accounts, as directed, within inbox, I get the "you don't seem to have an invite yet" message.

Yep double checked it again, from scratch, no dice. Well thanks for the effort. If anyone DOES get this to work, PM me if you have a moment with some insight.
Hi, I think its best you just delete those accounts as I couldnt login without answer a security question.
I thanked you for trying to help. Keep up the good work.

Switching does not work
The switching trick dosent work although the given ID and password worked.
P.S the first id was already changed by some one
Okay folks, it appears my plan didn't quite work out. The reason I didn't directly say "Hey, I have a load of invites to give away - come and get them" is because:
#1 My personal email address is private and I don't want a flood of strangers begging me for invites, via it.
#2 Refer to #1.
Sorry it didn't work out. I have given one invite out, but I'm sure a little patience will do you ALL good, and strengthen your characters. In this instant gratification world, it's extremely healthy and edifying to learn that you cannot ALWAYS get EVERYTHING at the click of a button. I had to wait a week for my invite (hard life, isn't it) so I suppose many of you will have to do that too. Patience is a virtue, so learn to be virtuous.
God bless, take care.
@glossywhite
do you know gmail has a option that saves the IP address of the most recent computer visited GMAIL ID. It can compromise anybody security. :good:
Anyone that is still interested in getting any invites can feel free to check out the main thread for them located here:

Where is my profile information?

I need to verify the email address I used when I initially signed up for XDA is still my correct email address but I can't seem to find the profile button. Help please. Thank you.
Go to your private messages inbox. On the left will be your control panel. Click "edit your details". :good:
