I want to be able to send an email out of my app, based on the user pressing a button on my app's Activity. The email needs to be sent automatically by the application upon button press, i.e. I dont want to show another email form to the user. And the email should be sent ***using the user's default email account on the phone*** not an email account that I hardcode into my app. And I dont want to have the user key in their email credentials into my app's configuration, I just want to be able to call some android api and say "send this email with this subject and body to this email address, using the default account that the user has set up on the phone".
Is this possible? If so, how?
thanks
Jay
Haven't tried it myself but using the SEND_TO intent might be a good place to start experimenting. Documentation is a bit lean on usage though.

I have tried to find a way around, but could not. Google search didnt help either.
I want to go into contacts, and email a contact's details to someone. I cannot seem to copy/paste the phone nos from contacts to email page. any solutions?

In the contact list, tap and hold to get up the menu. Select 'Send Contact >' and choose your option from there.

its stuck in messages (sms) outbox even when the To: field has an email address.
I am using the default email client!(social hub) as provided by Samsung.
Whenever I send a message to anyone, my email address is shown.
As per me there is no such option where I can set the display name as is available in majority of email clients.
But still i would like to set my display name as my name and not my email address..
Please don't ask me to login via Web and change display name there. As its the property of email client and not of the email service provider....

Why are you starting a new thread for this buddy ?
You have asked this question already &
here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1820638
Kindly understand that starting a new thread won't help you get an answer faster or better, you could wait for someone to answer the question in the previous thread.
This ^ is correct. Please don't create duplicate threads just because your first one doesn't get an answer. There's always the Q&A thread which gets a bit of traffic, too.
Thanks!

Dear team,
This is regarding the email app in the Xperia Z3 duos phone.
Suppose, i am getting an email from someone with multiple people in "CC" and "To".
If i do a "reply all" or "reply only to the sender", in my reply, all the other addresses other than the sender's name gets cut off from the email to which i am replying.. This behavior seriously deforms the email chain and make us lose track of who all where there in the earlier email. This is especially bad when using for corporate official emails.
If i use my Samsung email app, the addresses will not get cut off. I have attached screen shots of the original email with replies done using Xperia and samsung email app.
Appreciate if you can help resolve this.
Thanks you.

Personally? I uninstalled the built-in email program and installed k-9 through f-droid. I don't use my email heavily but k-9 works well enough for a phone.
In your example, you're using the same email address multiple times. I think when you do the "reply all," the app recognizes it is the same address and removes the duplicates. You would find this same behavior if you were using Outlook, which resolves all the addresses right before dispatch, and only sends the email to the recipient once.
If you have, say, four or five unique email addresses in the CC and select "reply all," does the app still remove some of them? I assume yes and that is what prompted this forum thread, but I'll ask just to be sure.
just disable the sony email app and install Gmail from google play. :highfive:
Hi, unfortunately, my company email does not allow access to K9

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I tried K9, but unfortunately, my company email is not working with K9, i think they are not allowing access to any 3rd party emails. It is being managed using the Airwatch

Hi, yes.. if i use different email addresses also, it will still remove all of them. And as you can see from the screen shot, when i used the Samsung email client, it did not remove any of the email addresses, even though it was the same. So the problem is with the Sony email client it seems.

Hi, i want to use this client for my official company email and they dont allow Gmail unfortunately... so thats why i am stuck....
I enrolled a while back and now I want to update my profile information (my email address).
I click the gear icon and the human head icons but I dont see anything there that displays my registered email address.
Where might I find this information so I can verify/change this if it's incorrect?
Thank you.

It's easy as clicking on your name which will bring you directly to your xda profile and then work your way down to edit your email address
