Found the best screen protectors for HTC Sensation !!! - HTC Sensation

Okay Ive wasted alot of money of different styles of screen protectors
for the Sensation . Its a common ritual for me with new phones though .
I look for best fit , clarity , soft feel , and style . With the Sensations
screen being curved its a pain to find the one that fits all of these
requirements successfully . But as of today I found a worthy screen
protector . So I thought I would share and direct you guys towards
them First is the eBay link where you can get these exact ones .
Then here is the pics of them installed on my S4g Please hit the
Thanks button if I helped ! Enjoy ...

Tools needed :
Hair Dryer
Microfiber towel or lint free extremely soft towel
Dust free area
Credit card or something alike with nice edges and not scuffed , chipped
Installation tips :
1: Make sure the area is dust free , I prefer the bathroom .
2: Sit the phone on something soft and lint free
3: Make sure the screen is absolutely free of fingerprints, lint, etc.
4: Heat up the screen protector with the hair dryer so its hot to the
touch (DO NOT HEAT PHONE !)
5: Peel off #1 side of protector
6: Apply carefully to screen so all edges are symmetrical in placement
Here is where I do things different.....
7: Rub the protector onto the phone , You will notice only the center
section sticks down and a large portion of the sides and top where
the beveled edges are will not stay stuck down . This is fine just rub
so you can get as much to stick as possible .
8: Peel off #2 side of protector , be careful to NOT peel off actual screen
protector when doing this since the edges are not stuck down .
9: Rub the protector on the phone with your fingers and credit card or
whatever you chose to lay edges down and get air bubbles out . You
will notice that the protector is very pliable now and will cooperate
very nicely !
10: Post pics for everyone to see
11: Enjoy !

Thank you for having manners The 5th one is missing because its on my phone . (Just thought I would cover
my ass since people love to tear others apart here)

I just ordered an single one from amazon for $3.00 with shipping. it's a single one so i'm expecting it to be good, I ordered a 5 pack from amazon before i got the phone and it was alright except it doesnt let the fingers glide and is super glossy and doesnt fit the whole way, if the new one on the way isn't good then i'm jumping on this one.

Thanks, ordered one too, bought 2 sets of screen protectors so far but havent been happy with em will give these a try, looks great on yours

Damn, your phone looks real nice with that screen protector to the point you don't even notice it.
I have to order those. I thought only a wet application would fit the sensation without any air bubbles but after seeing those pictures I am wrong.

Thanks to the op, Just picked up a 2 pack. Was thinking of going with a Zagg but buying the Sensation 4G wiped me out temporarily. This should hold me over until my next paycheck. Although they look perfect so I might just stick with it. Also grabbed a pair for my sisters G2x. Cheers.

If you guys need some tips on installing them when you get them let me know
I found out a pretty good way to make them look perfect .

Fit nicely on my DZ:
Here is one nice thing about this case. The back piece is transparent with white edges around it so the original design isn't covered. With some other cases that cover the whole back, the phone kinda looks an iPhone after putting the case on (especially if you have white or black cases), which is not something I want.
Another good thing about this case is that instead of have all the holding clips around the 4 corners, the clips are in the middle of the top and bottom edges of the 2 shells. They clip on to the little hole on top and bottom of the phone.
This way, the gap between the top half and bottom half of the phone won't be enlarged by the thickness of the clips like those cases with clips at the 4 corners.
But this case is by no means perfect. The polish and finishing could need some better works. But I am not complaining since it is quite hard to find a nice case for this phone.
It doesn't add much thickness to the phone either.
The top part of the shell at the edge right above the keyboard side also have its edge shaved inward so that is will not block the keyboard when it's opened.
See the location of the clips:
A lot of cases out there would make the phone look ridiculous, but this one sure made mine looks better.

(Even tho my desire z got dropped multiple times already lol)
I bought mine from this link:

Looks like nobody in US or Europe are selling them at all.
You will need to find someone you know from China or Hong Kong to help you get this I guess. Not sure if they sell international though if you try to get it yourself.
If you do a search with terms "taobao english agent" on Google, looks like there are now companies that will help people from the English world to order things from taobao . com(it's like the Ebay of China but have way more stuff and way cheaper).

Yeah, that clock is cool. There will be an animation of the arms swinging from the 12 o'clock position to the actual current time every time you load back the home screen from some place else.
But if it could show the date and day of the week it would be perfect.

Capdase has stores here in the philippines, it' also one of the most imitated brands here locally so they have a lot of fakes.
I don't think the sell online though unless you go to a 3rd party site. Like cresdo.com (which doesn't really have all of capdase's products)
They also have some really good screen protectors. Anti glare, fingerprint etc...
Much better than the screen protector that I got from otterbox.

I am not sure of this forum really allow private group buy or not though.
It usually goes like this: Some one buy a tons from the source, then mail them out one by one to different buyers after receiving payments (over Paypal) from them.

Mesh cases for Sensation on Ebay

I had one of these for my Samsung Vibrant, nice and thin, adds a little splash of color without any real additional weight and is only 1-2mm thick. Not really much protection if the phone is dropped but then again it's better than nothing at all.
I just ordered the 4 pack so I could pick and choose colors (I'm fickle like that) based on my mood. $9.99 for 4 of them and free shipping - not bad at all!

Doesn't really cover any of the front - it clips on from the back only.
So does it cover like the barely there or? If it covers identical to the barely there case from case mate, I'd be down to order some.
When is yours gonna arrive? We need some pics!
P.S. Thanks for the link.

Not sure about the barely there case, never had one. I literally had just ordered it before putting up the post, so, I figure within 10 days... At $2.50 each I am not going to complain much ... There's a photo of the same one I had for my Vibrant in this post, shows the front but there's no phone in it:

Here's an even better post that shows it off NICELY:

These are cool but they don't protect the most important part in this phone which is the bottom. That's the only part that is not part of the outter shell and if it breaks or scratches cannot be fixed for cheap. I still might get one.

Is it just me or does the dark blue, red and purple colored cases seem 'metallic' while the other colors are matte?
Just got mine and I like it. Very minimalist. LOL, I'm not sure it does a lot other than help to distinguish my phone from my wife's But for $2, that's ok
Had to make a small set of cuts to expand the area around the USB port (to work with 3rd party micro-USB).
Hey zim could you post some pics of the modification you needed to do to the usb.

Very minor.. I copied the pic from the ad, and drew in RED (on the green case) the small section where I cut to make the opening larger. thankfully we had some funky cutters here at work (kinda like wire clippers, but with a 45 degree angle at the end) which made the clipping easy.
Thanks for the info!
Will have to see what I can find to do the same mod once FailurePost here decides to deliver my case...

hey guys. i have one of these cases. ive had it on for 2 days and barely taken my phone anywhere and when i have it was like i was cradling a baby around.
The case has already split at the bottom between the hole at the back of the case and the base. They are quite brittle.
They look cool, but are very weak and useless for protection.

[TIP] Avoid camera scrathes

So the first thing I found when I bought this phone is that the camera is sticking out of the back of the phone a bit too much. It looks nice, but it gets scratched if you're addicted to wearing jeans. So I saw a spare screen protector laying around so I thought of this and just wanted to share.
Use a hole punch. Here is what I did.
1. Cut a screen protector in a strip ( not necessary its just my hole punch sucks at hole punching)
2. Punch a hole. ( if your hole punch is like mine take off the other layer of the screen protector so it actually punches a clean hole).
3. Clean up the camera and apply the protector. ( it won't fill the camera hole completely but it covers the part that the camera uses to "see" out of.
4. Enjoy a scratch free camera!
Pictures: ( the last ones are just to show that pictures still turn out fine...even with terrible resizing.)

Meh. This is my 5th HTC device, and I've never put any in a case. Just a personal preference, of course. But I think its a bit silly that so many people like to keep their phone in a case in order to keep the phone exterior in nice condition, when they never see the exterior or the phone (its always covered by the case).
If you switch devices frequently, and the objective is to keep the phone in good condition for resale, that I can see. But that is also something I've never done. I still own every smartphone I've ever bought!

yeah for me cases ruin the beauty of any phone (except for the iphone...cases actually make it look better). The reason people probably wouldn't have thought of this is because most people dont have screen protectors sitting around. The only reason i have them is because i bought the phone at Costco and they gave me 2 "universal" (aka piece of *#%) ones that i wasn't going to use anyway.

At Radio Shack you can buy the old invisible shield kits for old phones they have them marked down to .97 cents! now don't be rude and buy them all lol this will give you a few tries to cut the circle haha. Enjoy! :good:
I'd use an old stick of lip gloss to act as a stencle and try cutting out a perfect circle with an exacto knife. Alternatively, a pen cap might work.

Carbon fibre vinyl wrap. (self mod)

The chrome paint had started to chip off on my mates old phone that he was selling so I decided to wrap it with my left over vinyl wrap. All I did is place a big piece of vinyl wrap over the screen, then used a hairdryer to mould it around the corners. I used a blade to cut around the screen and the back of the frame and finally peeled the excess wrap off.
Here are some pics.

Don't know why these came out so blurry.
Sorry I didn't take any progress pictures. Here's a picture to show how I cut the vinyl Dig with your nails first before using a blade to cut.

Thanks man. I used a non branded vinyl wrap from Ebay (If you want the best quality vinyl wrap, I'd go for the 3M branded ones). This is basically what I used. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARBON-FI...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5ae7791258
Be sure the to check the size of the wrap before you buy. :good:
does the carbon vinyl slip when you try to slide it with your thumb?...how the hell did it fit the round edges?...teach me please...thanks

Basically what I did was heat the vinyl with a hairdryer, this allows you to stretch the vinyl however you want so you get a wrinkle free finish. Here's a video to show you how it's done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMhvU8Dk3CE&feature=youtube_gdata_player
No it doesn't slip off, it's relatively sticky.
I did the same thing on my Xperia Play a couple of days ago.
Here's the reddit post i made. http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1b081w/vinyl_wrap_is_amazing/

You won't believe how easy this was. A little practice is all it takes. If you need any help just ask. : ]
what if i accidentally touched the sticky part of the vinyl?..will it stick after blowing it with heat?

Yes it will still be sticky. Even I managed to touch the sticky part of the wrap, which didn't harm it at all. Heat actually makes it even stickier.
i'll get my vinyl on saturday...i'll post some pictures of my finished product... wish me luck

Just make sure that your phone is clean from fingerprints or grease before applying the vinyl wrap. Good luck. I'm looking forward to seeing your result.

No. Only the sticky side of the vinyl gets sticky.

i found it on a local auto accessory shop here in rome...it's pretty hard because it's not as rubberized as the 3d one....the vinyl is pretty hard actually.. and i've got a good result because i disassembled the device before applying it...i'm afraid that my screen will be sticky if not...i'm working on my back cover now for the second time because at first try when i'm blowing it with heat it shows some bubbles..i hope i can do it perfectly now..thank you for the examples!..:good:

No problem mate. I would of disassembled the phone too, but I needed to sell the phone quick so I didn't have the time. Covering the back might be a bit too much IMHO, but it's your phone so I'm not stopping you.

I was searching for an alternative to the HTC Dot View case and not a cheap clone, so I have found this interesting cover in Amazon:

If you do, please post a video of it in action!
I wonder if it feels weird to have these big pixels without dots.
As for the flip not closing by itself, I remember well the original HTC Dot View took 2-3 weeks to close by itself and I was holding it closed all the time outside home so it takes the habit to do it. I guess this Rock one will need the same

I placed an order, hopefully it gets here quickly! i really like the way it is looking so i hope it lives up to its photos
edit: it says it should be here tomorrow [5/21] by the evening, so if someone else does not before then, i will be happy to take some photos and possibly make a little video showing the flap closing and of course the dot view mode in action :silly:

Just got it! My initial thoughts about the case itself; I love it, the build quality is up to par it does not feel cheap and flimsy and it does (as you can see) cause the phone to go into the DotView mode which I think looks REALLY cool on a flat matte screen! The only issue I am having at the moment is, as you can see, the screen does not shut all the way, though this may have something to do with my screen protector (tempered glass) so I may order another screen protector and try this after removing the one that is currently on the phone. I apologize for the bad quality of the other photos not taken from the phone but I hope this gives you some insight on this neat product. I am definitely going to rock the case on my phone (with the tempered glass still on) and see if it sets, but we will see! I will keep in with updates and I will add more photos and a short video of it in use in a little bit. Anyways, check it out!
Edit: Link to YouTube action https://youtu.be/TBpQQER2Qxs Just a hands on showing more angles and what not. Enjoy
As stated, I am still fiddling with it and I will be taking more photos of other angles such as the side and back in the process, give me a few minutes I just got this baby in the mail
Edit: I just wanted to throw in that I LOVE the DotView concept but the actual dots kind of got to me so if I can get this case to work proplerly this is ***EXACTLY*** what I have been looking for. Again, absolutely love it. Thank you for the recommendation @vegetaleb :silly:
Edit Edit: Making a short YoutTube now! Give me a few to get it up :highfive:
Wow thanks!
Why still using a tempered glass while you have a cover to protect the screen?

I decided to take off the tempered, I will post new pics after this video is uploaded. It shows more of the sides and the flap in action and what not. I'm loving the case though!
Edit: And yes without the glass it makes a big difference :silly: (duh)
Here are a couple photos of the case on the phone without the tempered glass on it and it sits MUCH better my silly little review should be done uploading any second now, ill add it to my first post with the first set of photos.
Thanks!
Did you take the video with tempered glass?
How easy it is to pop up the phone from the cover?

Yes the video was with the glass still on, I didn't expect it to make THAT big of a difference. Boy was I wrong lol. I am assuming you are talking about getting the phone out of the case all together? It is fairly easy, but there is no way it would just fall out on it's own. I just grabbed the 2 outer edges and gently pulled them back and pushed up on the phone but it sits securely in the housing.
Glad to hear that the quality is good and it fits well over the phone.
Waiting for the white one.
Did you try it outdoor?
I think I am gonna get one instead of the HTC one, at least I will feel something new after a year with the M8's Dot View
is this case thin or its a bit massive?
anyway it looks cool, goin to order the gold one
sweet, from what i am seeing it looks slimmer than the M9 dot view, i am about to place an order for this case as well but even without the glass cover the flip isn't closing isn't it? this might be a deal breaker for me
It it a bit slimmer than the official HTC case, after using for a day I am liking it a lot. Especially fir the price the touch responsiveness is seemingly better since the face of the cover is more smooth. Definitely recommend it :silly:

At this rate it's looking like it could be sitting flat or at least very close by the end of the day, I have been leaving it face down to help it along when on my desk. Also, one thing to note is that when I open it up it does not affect the progress of setting, i.e. it does not "unfold" a little every time I open it up and have to be pushed back down. :good:
I will post a photo for ya' in a bit so you can see how it is sitting after a day of use.
Sorry it took so long, but here is a photo of the lid after almost 24 hours of use, it does seem to me that eventually it will settle, I may try to help it out with some light bending. I still love this case, this one was an awesome find so thank you!
