Incredible 2, no signal after Alpharev x and accidental IMAGE CRC. - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I've been eagerly waiting for alpharev to release the beta to s-off my incrdible 2. after i put in the beta key, the program only read "beta key accepted, thank you for participating"... but didn't seem to do any work. ALSO, when i went to restart the phone into the bootloader to check s-on, i accidently hit IMAGE CRC. I'm pretty new to this so I have no idea what IMAGE CRC does, or if it contributed to the problem, but now my bars show an X, obviously showing i'm not recieving a signal. I tried to take out my simcard, reboot the phone, put it back in, i tried image crc again.... but i'm stuck at this point. is my phone bricked? forgive my ignorance, im not well versed in developmental aspects, i was just eager to root my incredible 2. any suggestions?

Is your back cover on? If not the signal will suck.

yeah its on. i actually got an ok signal when i switched roms to the cyanogen nightly.... but im still not getting a data connection. than i lost signal again, tried Jcase's PlainJane rom, and now i have no data AND i'm roaming constantly... i'm about to try different radios but i feel like i bricked my ****.

You're not bricked if you can boot the phone up. I'd do a search for the RUU so you can restore everything back to stock. This would work on the inc1 at least, I'm assuming there's a way to get back to stock.

Constant Loss of Single/Odin 1 Click Boot Loop

Background. Was using 2.2 for the longest time, loved Firefly. Went ahead and bit the bullet and decided to go to 2.3 and use Gingerbread. Solid week of great success. However I started notcing my antenna saying no signal. Several Reboots and still nothing worked. Decided I would One-Click Back to 2.1 and start fresh. Well I never had issues with Odin 1 Click before, but now I get in a boot loop (ATT SPlash Screen) I have noticed when its unloading the package after , the last thing i see is CSC and that it boots into the loop. Would love to get my phone back to stock so i can see if its a hardware or software issue with my antenna. I have looked at this link, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10056254&postcount=36 but was afraid I possibly might still have GB bootloaders on my phone. I would think not if Odin finished, but I just want to double check with the community so I dont brick.
Thanks guys.
Can you get into DL mode? IF so, i would try and Odin again. ALthough I looked at the link in your OP, unless your heart is set on 2.1JH7, i would use the Odin3 one click downloader. That will restore your phone to 2.1JF6 as well as flash the correct bootloaders. I have gone back and forth from continuum to cm7 a few times now using that method.
Thanks for the quick reply. however this is the 3rd time trying Odin-1 Click tonight and I still end up in a boot loop. I have redownloaded the file just to make sure I didnt have a corrupt one. I just want a stock system and see if the constant antenna issues continue. (Trust me Ive tried different modems and all those possibilities.) Is it safe with that link? I noticed when i do Odin they flash a sbin and bootloader. I am assuming that puts it back on 2.1
which Odin are you using? Are you using the one click program that gives you stock firmware... JF6 firmware?
It is here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SBSMALFJ
Yup thats what I have. It looks like it doesn't load the android system. Soon as it says installing Multi-CSC its done and rebooting. It would seem like its not unpacking the files. I have no status bar at the bottom. I have no idea why its doing this. Here is the crazy part. If i go back to the ginberbread stock, its not a problem to get to boot.
while I'm no expert.. seems like a bootloader thing. Try downloading it again from the link i put up and see if it was maybe a corrupted download.
The bootloaders are the first thing flashed in odin. It stopped after that then you have stock bootloaders. Also if all you see is the white AT&T screen and then it reboots, that indicates stock bootloaders as well. The gb bootloaders have a black galaxy s I9000 screen as the param.lfs image.
I would bet money you have stock bootloaders, use that link you posted that work be perfect. If you go back to gingerbread and want to return to stock bootloaders you'll have to use one click again even though you got a problem from it this time, if you get the same problem you know this worked to fix it.
And lastly usually problems with cell signal are modem related ... Which one were you using, did you even try another one? That would've been my first move instead of going all the way back to stock.
Hey studacris,
I have been using Mosaic (Love the work you guys do over there). I did try and use the other method to get back to Stock Last night and it did the same thing. Just a bootloop. If its plugged into the USB cable it goes directly to the Battery Symbol, if its not the Att 3G bars loop. I can flash to Gingerbread stock and then apply Other Roms. I tried GR-2 and Mosaic again, but still nothing with the signals. I just dont like the fact I cant get back to Stock with those 2 different methods. What I think is odd is when I load Gingerbread, it seems like items are being unpacked and loaded. When i try to go to Stock, everything happens super quick, making me believe nothing ever gets installed on the Internal Card during the unpacking sequence. I am no pro, but thats just something i noticed. Here was my original post on the Mosaic board. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14043766&highlight=Rizz67#post14043766

Solution if you are stuck on 2G!!

i found the solution for those stuck on 2g speeds here in the US after flashing an RUU....your phone is probably on ICS 4.03 or 4.04 after you installed the official tmobile RUU...you have to keep checking for software updates on your phone until you get the official JB update installled from tmobile (it was officially posted at the end of April and available as a manual download through the "check software updates" option on your phone). i had to check for updates and install them about 5 times because the RUU i used restored my phone to ICS 4.03...i kept updating until i got to JB (it's going to be very large file, over 600mb).
IMPORTANT!!! --> after the update, your phone will still be stuck on 2g speeds....you them have to do a FACTORY RESET...yes, you have to wipe everything from your phone so make sure you backup to your laptop or something like that and then do a factory reset....once your phone reboots, it should now get 4g speeds (hspa+)...i read through alot of threads since my phone was stuck on 2g after i restored to the official tmobile RUU and finally got it to work after incrementally updating through the "check for software updates" option til the official JB update was installed.....good luck and hope this works for most of those that were stuck on 2g after the previous update!
I tried the above and it did not work. The following did, however, and I GOT 4G BACK on my HTC One S!!
I did not ever have S-OFF, I tried pretty much everything I could think of in terms of factory resets, flashing tons of different ROMs, bootloaders, even going completely stock again with RUU. I'm pretty sure it's a lost cause and a waste of time.
Solution: I relocked my bootloader and sent it in to HTC because I was still on warranty. They had it back to me in a week's time, and 4G now works fine. I'm going to try to find out what they did, whether it was hardware or not. Note: I did get it back with the bootloader being "locked", not "relocked".

Hi,
Did you find out what changed on your new HTC ONE S that fixed the Stuck on 2g issue?

4G? You mean 3G? HOS doesn't support 4G. Anyway, glad you fixed it! Considering the bootloader is locked again, I'm guessing they swapped a few parts?
I'm going to try this. I've been stuck on 2G ever since I updated my HBOOT to use 3.4 Kernel ROMs. I will get back to you to see if this method works for me.
how would you go about doing this method if you are coming from a custom ROM?
I'm on UnKnown v1.8 with S-Off on HBOOT 2.15 if that helps.
Yes, I suppose in the interest of accuracy I got H+ back, which shows as "4G" on the Sense UI. I'm really not sure what they did or how I would find out. According to the timeline they gave me it looks like they only had it in repairs for half a day or so, so it was either a simple hardware issue or some kind of deep software reset I wasn't able to access.
doesn't work. tried it the same exact way you said and it didn't work.still on 2G

[Q] Flashing to stock - phone force closes process com.android.phone, help

Please bare with me since this is the first time having to post for an issue since I usually find an answer on your forums
So here's the situation.
I bought the photon q 4g lte from ebay and it came with the unlocked bootloader.
Needless to say it was with the stock ics and i tried to find a jellybean update because it wasn't taking the ota and ended up going with cyanogen since i had no problems before. However those phones i had before were with sim cards not cdma.
I found out i couldn't update prl or profile manually without having to do something on the pc.
So after searching left and right i found i could use rsl lite (I used 6.1.5) and eventually found the "stock" file from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095536&highlight=rsd+lite
I did the stock jellybean, got it to go through the process and it booted up with no errors.
However, when it boots into the os it pops up a force close on omadmclient_sprint_dataservice and eventually also on the process com.android.phone.
I tried putting it in airplane mode to see if the service error would go away but it didn't work for the process part crashing.
I tried re-flashing, deleting cache in recovery, doing a data/factory reset in recovery and the one time i was able to do a data factory reset within the settings menu.
I could not find anyone that said they had a rom that worked with sprint and updating prl within the rom, if anyone knows of one let me know and i will flash it through rsd.
Otherwise does anyone have an idea of what could be happening because googling the omadmclient part did not pull up anything specific and pulling up the process issue for other phones has not helped me either.
Was this a hacked GSM phone, or are you using it as CDMA?
I've never heard of people having FC issues after flashing a FXZ from RSD. Which one did you flash? Android 4.1.2 - Sprint US - 9.8.2Q-122_XT897_FFW-5 (No simlock) ?
If you are on stock, you should be able to update the PRL within the ROM.
I was trying to use it with cdma network through sprint. and yeah that was the file i downloaded, had to remove the getvar to get it working but flashed with no errors after doing that.
As for updating the prl i can barely navigate through the phone, there is no home page loading and the process pop comes up often enough that its hard to go through the settings

Sounds like something went wrong mate. Are you already activated on Sprint? I don't know if that would matter, it might.
I would honestly redownload and redo the RSD process.

I originally tried to activate the phone through cyanogen and then when the rep said he couldnt do it because of the lack of prl to update within the rom we just setup the activation back on the old phone/ That phone is working on the network.
I re-downloaded the file just in case and re-flashed but same problem. The only thing i thought of was maybe updating the radio but since its a stock rom it should work out of the gate. whats also weird is i tried turning wifi on but it didnt work either.
Anychange you know of a rom that works with sprint. I dont care if its stock since i would probably root later again.

Which one are you flashing?
Try another perhaps...? I honestly have never heard of this. It sounds like the phone might be damaged, or the RSD process just did not flash correctly.
I guess I should ask, was the phone modified at all for the GSM SIM slot mod? I wonder if having a non-Sprint SIM in is messing with it... That is just a shot in the dark.

so far the only rom i tried was 10.1 cyanogen and the stock rom for jellybean. However for the stock rom it doesnt let me downgrade to ics with rsd 6.1.5 do you think if i downloaded an old version i could downgrade to a lower stock rom?
Also I honestly had not looked for the cdma roms since most of what i saw was troubleshooting related for this phone but i just saw this rom -AOKP 4.2.2 (Android Open Kang Project) (CDMA&GSM) that you created - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293892
I re-rooted and installed that one and it looks great, just wondered how you got sprint to activate the phone or if you had done it before changing the rom? Also how would the prl and profile be updated.
Lastly the wifi wasn't turning on this time either, it did work initially when i got the phone so that has me stumped.

To downgrade to ICS, you need to remove some additional lines. See this post for more information on that.
However, you should be able to update the PRL on either stock ROM.
I think I said this before, but I will say it again. You need to do PRL updates, activate the phone, and get EVERYTHING working on stock BEFORE you flash ANY custom ROM. This is just standard practice - you don't want to put the cart before the horse! Get the phone working, then play with custom ROM's.

[Q] need help please. can't grt phone to activare still

I got my one SV k2_cl from boost a little over a month ago and got the bootloader unlocked and rooted, working fine until one morning it wouldn'tmake calls or texts. I tried to factory reset and when I tried to boot got stuck at the HTC logo. Took me 2 weeks to get it to even flash a Rom on here that will somewhat work. I've got WiFi and partial 3g 4g connectivity but no voice at all. When I try to use the phones its activation tool-error, tried manually programming phone- nothing. I'm stumped. Can someone please help me out here. Don't want to have to buy another phone if I can help it. The only guess I've got at the moment is that if I could get a stock original rom to flash I'd be good to go probably and just hold out on doing anything else to it until after the kitkat ota is launched. The few stock roms I've tried either wouldn't download for some reason or just won't flash right. Thanks in advance for any help guys. I've always been more of a hardware geek more so than software but I can usually muddle through following guides of course.
I'm not much into boost, but did you try to flash the available RUU?
help...
As a matter of fact I have tried that and unfortunetly the installer locked up on a reboot of the phone because the phone wants to do the "Android is upgrading # of #" on every boot. That was why I was thinking since adb/fastboot and the HTC One Toolkit all sorta work that if I could get ahold of a working stock rom to flash on there and I have a stock CWM backup still on my laptop from when I first got the phone rooted and everything working. But of course thanks for the tip anyway. I wish that would work. It seems to be the easiest way to install back to stock.

[Q] no signal...any help appreciated

picked up a used m8. Which had cm11 pre installed (fine with me it's what I'm used to running on my old galaxy nexus) just picked up a new sim card today and put the new sim in and it should be active but it wont pick up any vzw service (no bars just the empty triangle like shape) Any thoughts on how to get it to pick up signal?
When I hold vol down and power on I can see the following
CID - VZW__001
HBOOT - 3.16.0.0000
RADIO - .89.20.0321
OS 1.55.605.2
Appears to have the new radios and software.....
Normally, I would just restore the backup but there was no back up on the phone.
My first thought is to try flashing the most recent radios to see if that's it, but can this be done through .zip file in cwm or twrp? Or must they be flashed via fastboot?
Second thought is to reflash the stock 4.4.2 ruu then do factory reset.
Third thought....Is there anything else that I can do?
I wanted to get input from those who are more knowledgeable than myself on what would be the best method for proceeding..
Thanks

The info you posted isn't the new radios or the new firmware. Try flashing the 4.4.3 firmware from my firmware thread..update that an see what happens. You can find my firmware thread in Vzw m8 development.
OK I'll give that a try and report back
Ok I followed the directions and now I get signal in the triangle and an LTE connection. (Thank you Tigerstown much appreciated)
Now, When I hold vol down and power on I can see the following
CID - VZW__001
HBOOT - 3.18.0.0000
RADIO - 1.09.20.0702
OS - 2.21.605.2
but when I go to place a call it says "Mobile network not available"
After CM boots When I go into Settings > then about phone> then status everything looks normal shows verizon wireless under network but a few lines below under Service State is says "voice: Out of service, data: in service"???
Any ideas on what else I should do to get it to be able to make phone calls? Should I try flashing the radios via fastboot? Since I just used the sdcard method mentioned in your post instead of the fastboot method to update?
and strangely enough also under status a few lines below that it shows Mobile network state of connected.
feel like I'm close, just missing something.....Anyone more knowledgeable than myself have any ideas to get it to be able to make calls?
Thanks

So I downloaded VZW stock pre-rooted rom and as soon as I booted up everything started working as it should. Didn't even get to removing sd or re-flash stock recovery or factory reset. I might do that eventually as I do want to go back to CM or maybe viper rom. But I def. wanted to report back and say thank you for your help! I really appreciated it!
