Ridiculous rule. I mainly use other forums. When I do use XDA I can never reply because I have less than 10 posts. BUT because I can't post I get pissed and leave. Thanks to MDW, DF, and all the others for not having a stupid rule.

Do something usefull with your posts.
How hard is it to answer some questions or chime in on a discussion? Visit your device's Q&A and General subforums and help some people out. If you can't do that, then you don't deserve to post in the other forums.
The rule is there for a reason. If you just want to say thanks or ask a question about a thread in Development, send the member a pm until you get your post count up. Or post your question in Q&A... after searching first.

You shouldnt say thanks in a post, thats what the THANKS button is for. To reduce spam of that kind.
Posting your Question in a device specific or general Q&A thread is generally the best idea.
Some devs don't like it if they get PMs with question "how do i", "why does not", "how come"...
But beforehand you should have worked the search button so hard, your girlfriend got jealous....

I personally view this post as a Flaming (2.3), Personal Attack(2.4) with questionable language(2.1) that doesn't show any courtesy(2.5) to other members and shows that you obviously haven't read and aren't capable of following the rules of the forum (2.6). That's all the rules regarding conduct except nudity, who would you infract? If you have a problem with a post/thread report it rather than getting yourself into trouble. Consider this a friendly warning since the OP decided not to report your post.

Umm, I was talking about the app he is spamming about. He has another post in the general forum about it. CairoMarketplace is an applanet style app that offers paid apps for free. Is that not piracy?
And I have reported both of his posts and yet they still sit on our general forum.

Exactly, you reported another thread and came over here to start a flame war in this one too? Guy posted an avatar for people, how is that warez or advertising, it says XDA on it not Cairo anything. Yes, I agree that CairoMarket is warez and it's been being discussed but that doesn't mean you should search the users name, post a snide response in every thread he ever created and report every thread he ever created regardless if it doesn't even violate the rules here on xda. Tyvm for your cooperation in this matter, again mods are and will be looking at this market place app as I totally agree it is warez. Just saying the proper channels are there for a reason.

Agreed. Its like saying I know there are rules but I chose not to follow them.
For people that don't understand taking it personal. Try this. Log on to XDA for a week and not be able to read or do anything for your device cause you have to clean up after people.

Bite me. One of the virtues of this forum is supposed to be that they actively encourage people to search before posting.
But please, encourage laziness and stupidity, it's awesome. Everyone loves reading 1100 page threads where 900 of those pages are questions that were already answered.

And that is partly what the report button is for ............thread moving........the user is notified that it is the wrong section by PM and most likely they will learn from the mistake.
People would learn a lot faster by that instead of smart comments by wanna be moderators, not speaking of you in general, you are very helpful.

I would think that commenting to the OP, and reporting it would be the most effective. Otherwise the OP might not realize why it was moved (do they get notified if their thread is moved and why? I actually don't know).
Not that it has to be a "smart comment", but just to tell the person why its wrong. Like seeing someone drive the wrong way down a one-way street: Its just better for them and everyone around them, if you tell them what they are doing is wrong. It doesn't make you a wannabe cop.

When a moderator moves a thread the op does get an automated email and recently there was a change so that we can ad a comment to the pm sent as well like
"Your thread was moved to Q&A please post in the appropriate section in the future"
