Anyone used this case? I REALLY don't want to put a case on my Nexus One, but it's also so slim and thin that I am going to drop it eventually.
Silly as it is, I don't want the whole phone covered up, so while the Innocase Surface II looks decent it also covers up the phone.. The Boxwave Pure Crystal Slip doesn't, but I can't find any reviews on it.
Anyone used one of these things? I don't use the dock, although I do use a horizontal belt case so I might have to get one that's slightly bigger as the N1 barely fits in the existing one, but I can deal with that.. That would happen for any case honestly, except for a skin.. I do like Best Skin Ever, but the last two I've bought seem to not be quite as "tacky" as the first few I had, therefore the grip wasn't quite as good. Maybe my imagination..
I bought the Boxwave case off amazon a month ago probably. its a nice case but save your money and buy a resin case from dcmugen on ebay, exact same thing with a different logo. its a nice case though, not too thick and easy to take on and off (I use both docks) so it fits my needs quite well.
Boxwave here. Nice thin and classy. Has rubber feel but not too soft either. It's a pretty good case makes phone look ten times better in my opinion. Is easily recommend it, but I don't use docks, so can't help there. Never the less, happy casing.
DC Mugen FTW. eBay - Epik Case. I got two cases for $8 including shipping and two screen protectors.

Ah, I see.. I still think I prefer the Pure, no patterns on it, but otherwise the same.. Looks like Boxwave has the Cyclone (circle patterns), diamonds, a matte finish, some others..
Still haven't decided on which case.... I've always been disappointed in silicone cases, but I've almost always bought cheap $2 eBay ones..
I went with the Boxwave Pure Crystal Slip, we'll see when it arrives! God knows when, I had two shipping options.. 5-10 days ($2) or 1-3 days ($23!!)
So I'll see in 5-10 days
I got the Clear Pure Crystal Slip yesterday. Here's a quick review:
Overall, I like it and will likely use it when I'm out and about. It gives a much more secure grip on the phone without adding any weight or feeling larger. Although honestly I still think the Nexus One is a little TOO thin and a little slippery. This makes that better.
It feels like a cheap case, it's rubbery and smooth. If your hands are wet or oily it might be MORE slippery, don't know yet. In reality it seems pretty well made, and fits well. The Clear Pure version is crystal clear, no tint, no patterns, and you can clearly see the phone is a Nexus One.
I'm not doing any drop testing, but I think if the phone landed on a corner or an end this case could protect it. It's firm but pliable, not squishy like a silicone case and not a hard case. Primarily I think it'll protect it because it'll be LESS LIKELY to get dropped because the surface is a tackier and more surface area on the sides. I can pick up the phone with two fingers securely now, where before I'd have to tilt the phone up and get fingers under it to pick it up.
If anyone wants pictures I can do that, haven't yet...
Price summary: If it were $15 it'd be a deal. $20 seems too much.
Pros:
You can see see it's a Nexus. Google branding, colors, body build
It's thin, firm, and fits tightly
Covers up the power and volume buttons, but made to fit over them. Maybe a little rain resistance?
Adds better grip, more confidence holding the phone
Does not interfere with any ports (except a little on the power plug, see below)
Does not interfere with any openings (speaker, mics, camera, camera flash)
Does not interfere with the screen, particularly near the edges
Does not obscure the speaker when phone is on its back
Lets you lay the phone down face-down without resting on the trackball
Covers all corners, edges, entire back.
Cons:
It has a molding line all around it.. It's not that visible but you can feel it. Sides aren't smooth
Covers up the power and volume buttons, but made to fit over them. Makes it too easy to hit the buttons, and you can't feel the button very well (to feel it when touching) nor feel the action of the button itself.
Seems to make the stock charger plug (maybe others too) not feel "in", I think there's too much material around the plug
Takes away the nice texture and feel of the Nexus One
Thumb hits the case a little scrolling down on the trackball, but it doesn't make it harder to use
Other notes:
Does not protect the camera lens or the screen at all
Mine was clearly used, fingerprints all over and in the box backwards :/
A slim belt case intended for the N1 is too small to fit with this case
There is a weird cutout to the left of the HTC logo in the case, like maybe a hand strap could go there?

That case does look nice but 20 dollars seems a bit excessive. Look at other Amazon items. I found one for 5 dollars shipped that is pretty similar and doesn't have the hole in the back. http://www.amazon.com/Google-Crysta...X1DSC0SAJ94E&s=generic&qid=1275242975&sr=1-27

I have that case as well as the Crystal Boxwave slip.
The Boxwave one:
- Is clearer obviously (not the "smoked look").
- Fits a good deal tighter.
- Has a full cover for the lip, not the chin strap method of attaching.
- Has Boxwave written across the back.
I actually prefer the patterned one because it's more interesting, both detract from the Nexus, so it might as well add some flavor, right? The Boxwave one is far tighter fitting (and slightly thinner) but neither is going to come off in any kind of normal use. I also own the desktop dock, so I need to take it off on occasion to allow the phone to fit. Both cover all the buttons, so you have to get used to pressing them through the rubber. They also both have that edge around the edge of the case from being molded.
Anywho, just my $0.02

And those are probably worth at least $1.10...... Sometimes you really have to make a minimal investment to get something useful.
No separate thread on this case so I figured i'd make one, as IMHO it's the best out there for our device, and also the best solution to the slippery battery door issue. Here's my mini review:
The Kickstand case, I got from eBay, for $11 shipped w/ tax (just search for "fascinate kickstand"), which is half off the in store price you'll find. The case has a slight rubberized / soft touch finish, and has a grip pattern in it, which makes it much easier to hold onto. It's quite thin, except for a bump caused by the kickstand, which is leveled so the phone lays flat, by some "feet" on the back. That slight bump I actually like, because I can easily tell which way the phone is oriented in my hand without looking at it. It provides nice protection to the sides and corners and back, so I think it will provide added drop protection. It fits very tight, I wouldn't expect it to come off ever. What I really like, is that it barely protrudes above the front of the phone at all, it adds a very slight lip at the sides, and that's it. This keeps the phone quite flat/thin still and doesn't change how you'd interact with the screen at all. The slight lip should help protect the screen too. All the cutouts are excellent in positioning, and provide nice "cover" for the side buttons against accidental actuation.
Probably the nicest thing of all which I didn't expect, is that the Kickstand works in both Portrait with the phone vertical, and horizontal in landscape, due to the way they positioned the kickstand on the back. It works great - this takes care of one of the things I missed from my Touch Pro2 (the tilting screen). It also has a tensioner, which allows you to tweak the angle in horizontal/landscape a bit because it's "stiff". For the $11 I paid for it, it's worth every penny and seems quite solid/well engineered for the price.
Only downside I see is that it's a bit tougher to take the battery out of course.
Highly recommended!
Also, I missed the idea of using this with a holster, but found a decent universal horizontal belt pouch case that fits nice with even this kickstand case on. This auction is just one seller, there are many instances of this exact same case on ebay listed under multiple names:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270648647873
Just look for "carbon droid x pouch" or "carbon galaxy pouch" etc etc, to find one. The brand name is "Luxmo" on the package, the model is "LPHTCHD2CF1HBK". It says it's a "Leather Pouch for Google Nexus 1 / HTC HD2".
They're all the same case/pouch. What I like about this is you can use it with the belt hook for easy removal, OR use the belt loops for a more permanent one - it has magnetic closure, fits the kickstand case well, sits nicely on my belt, has good cushioning. It's easy to remove the phone using the hole in the bottom, just push up on it and the phone pops out. I also like the "carbon fiber look" it has, looks just like my holster belt I wear this on. There are plain leather versions just like this as well, that I'm sure are made the same way / fit the same.
I use this case as well. Being an employee ive tried every case we sell and this is by far the best looking one and adds very minimal bulk to the phone. I love it!

I also have this case and it is by far the best one I've tried on. The kickstand is really nice.
The OEM kickstand case seems to have a bad design IMO. The reason I say this is when you watch a movie the volume rocker is at the bottom and not easily accessible. Watching video is the point of the kickstand so why hide the volume controls at the bottom? This was the first thing I noticed when I saw the case at Verizon.

Um, that's more a fault of the design of the phone itself. I sorta agree, except Samsung shoulda put the volume should on the right side of the phone, and the power at the top. The normal rotation for landscape is counter clockwise, so the speaker is at the left, and the soft buttons on the right. This is because most are right handed so they're likely to want to use the soft buttons with their right thumb.
So it's no fault of the case that when the phone is rotated normally, the volume rocker is at the bottom. Not like that's a big deal ... just pick it up and change the volume lol.
Also this kickstand works when the phone is vertical/portrait, so it's one of the best kickstand designs I've seen for any phone, as many phone's built in kickstands or kickstand cases, only work in landscape/horizontal.
I third the rec for this case. Its much better than the hard silicone version I tried first, and it allows me to use the phone as a much more useful media screen when on my nighstand or plugged in on my desk at work.
Just ordered the Verizon one yesterday (thank you, 35% accessory discount) and should have it tomorrow or Wednesday. By the looks of it, I'm going to like it.
link to the actual case?
I've had this case since day 1, yeah it sucks about the volume being covered in horizontal but it's an awesome case, and I don't want to change it at all (I've changed cases roughly every month with my other phones)

Just search eBay as I mentioned for "fascinate kickstand" - there is only one case like this, you'll find it right away, sellers are selling it new for $11 shipped.
Got my case yesterday. Love it.
I really like it too, been through 3 or 4 others, this is the best.
I can vouch for the kickstand case too. Without the case, my phone felt flimsy and I was afraid I'll drop it any moment. Now it feels much more solid and comfortable.
On an aside note, do NOT get the screen protectors from Verizon. They suck.
I have the kick stand case too and i love it. i use the kick stand all the time.
nice
got this case based on your guys' recommendations and it's pretty sweet. It's not that grippy silicone that sticks in your pocket. It's got like a nice matte finish and feels pretty solid. Also, the edges don't rise up too high like other cases do so it doesn't get in the way when you're using the touchscreen.
Yeah. VZW(or whoever they get it from) really got this one right. Not to big, but it does add some substance. Good grip, but not sticky. Protects the phone, but doesn't hide the lines.
A+

I notice that it has pretty substantial cut outs at the top of the phone, any idea if this case is car or desk dock friendly by chance?
I picked one of these up based on this thread and I am happy I did. Very nice fit. Feels good and grippy in the hand - kickstand is a bonus. Great on my desk and nightstand.
Wouldn't change a thing.

I'm asking for this for the holidays. I've heard nothing but great things about it. I currently have the OEM silicone case, and it's nothing special.

Looks pretty nice. I love it on my Vibrant! Anyone ordering one? I'd like to know if it's the same quality case..
they do look pretty nice i may grab one i like the green one
holy crap thats what i was looking for! white one me likey
Would recommend you look at the kickstand case instead, very similar design but the big thing I see lacking in this one is protection for the corners of the phone which is where you're most likely to sustain an impact if dropped. The kickstand case comes up around the sides a bit onto the top and bottom edges of the phone and protects those critical corners.
Also the kickstand case has a kickstand - which you can use in both portrait and landscape modes to great effect, it's a very nicely designed feature, and one that I can't imagine using the phone without now.
Lastly, you can get the kickstand case brand new on eBay for less than $12 shipped w/ tax.
Hi guys, i just got a second hand Desire Z in mint condition and I want to keep it that way as much as possible, so I ve been browsing throught eBay for a while now and i can't seem to find anything that would be practical due to the slide keyboard. I once got a simple gel silicone case for a SE Xperia X10 Mini Pro and it was "garbage"..whenever the keyboard got out the case always slided off..so I want a few opinions before i make my choice now.
The one case that caught my eye is this one > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-HTC-DESIRE-Z-ALUMINIUM-CASE-SCREEN-PROTECTOR-/270875659598?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhonesCasesPouches&hash=item3f11728d4e#ht_3135wt_1413

Looks like a knock off of the Otterbox except they're using aluminium instead of high impact plastic with a rubber lining. I would be skeptical because the metal might scratch against the phone's exterior during installation and/or use. it's cheap so it might be worth a try.

Been using an Otterbox on my G2 for a couple months (since I broke the LCD without an Otterbox ), highly highly recommend! The price you see on ebay is just about the same as I paid on Amazon. It's worked really really well for me, I was taking the case on/off all the time due to a malfunctioning game causing memory overflows, needing to pull the battery pretty frequently, I've never had an issue with the clips snapping like some people seem to have.
HTH!
The Otterbox is a great case, had a few problems with clips breaking but got sent a replacement, unfortunately the commuter is now out of production so if the case breaks not sure if you could get a replacement from Otterbox
Search amazon for tmobile g2 oem rubberized skin. Adds a little bulk to it but keeps me from dropping it. Keyboard slides out with ease and all other hardware buttons are accessible. Almost provides all around protection with a little extra height from the screen. Has a rubbery feel but still feels great to me. Assuming g2 and dz have the same physical specs...
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I have been using the otterbox since i had my g2. I tried the HTC hardshell rubberized case, but went back to otterbox a day later. My only cons with the otterbox is that the clips can break if you are not careful, and it is a bit bulky.
So has anyone gotten the case that was posted first? The metallic one? I'm tempted but I'm not sure if it's good or not.

I wouldn't recommend anything from eBay, I prefer to go with sure things. I got a nice one from my T-Mobile store, it's light, aesthetic, and cushions falls, although of course not as well as Otterbox. I can't post links, but search for Body Glove Matrix Snap-On Cover for T-Mobile G2 on google, and it's the first Amazon.com result, $3.31
In case anyone is interested, I just ordered the metallic case so I'll be receiving it and posting pictures sometime this week or next week
Well I got my case today. It's navy blue and looks amazing. Only problem is that it adds bulk. The tmobile car charger doesn't fit snug with it on. Luckily, the case is real easy to pop off.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA
As promised, here are pictures of the case! I've adjusted the colors on photoshop to make sure the blue is exactly the same as what you get (since the pictures misrepresent it).
PROS
-Looks sweet
-Back looks and feels great
-If you have an ICS rom, the blue and black matches real well
-Lightweight
CONS
-Adds a decent amount of thickness
-The hole for the microusb port is too small for anything to fit snugly
-Tougher to push the camera and power button on top
As you can see in one of the pictures, I had to cut the area around the microusb port so that my car charger and regular charger would be able to fit without falling out. Other than that, I love this case! It's only $5-7 on ebay.
Here I am, in total confusion. Should I buy a pouch or case?
Here's what I feel, think and want:
I like a pouch, because the phone inside is pure. I can take it out and I'll be holding the phone in its slimmest form (read: original form). On the other hand, I have used pouches before with my LG Optimus 2X and the cover got these marks where it always slid over the pouch (basicly, cover was screwed).
That said, it's pretty clear. I like to hold the S5 like I got it from the box. On the other hand I would like it to have some protection.
I feel that a flip case (from Samsung) might suit me the best, because it's pretty thin and covers the screen as well.
But, somehow I think that this flip case might be a bit unhandy sometimes (taking pictures, holding it to type, sturdy?).
What I'm asking: does anyone have experience with large smartphones and pouches?
Here's some links:
S5 Flip wallet
Krusell Pouch 1
Krusell Pouch 2
(also, if you know some other pouches - perhaps tailored for the S5 - do tell!)
I am looking for a pouch as well..using the one for I got for the S3 but for obvious reasons, it doesnt close the top portion unless if i force the velcro to reach, lol.
I'm also looking for a pouch for my S5. I've purchased a couple off of ebay. They are always too big. Has anyone found one that they could recommend that fits a naked S5? Not one that can also fit a Note. This is a big phone already and I don't want to have an even bigger pouch on my belt.
I'm not in the practice to carry a purse around. I carry a pouch on my belt. I use it to carry my phone, nothing else. I have a wallet in my back pocket for cards and such. I like the look and feel of the phone itself. I don't want to cover my well designed phone with a cheap case or even and expensive one. I'm looking for a pouch that fits the s5 cleanly and naked. All I've seen so far are ones that fit it with a case on it or they are universal and big enough to also fit a note. The note is a class bigger than I need.

I don't know exactly what you are looking for but I just received this pouch and my naked S5 fits in it perfectly with no room to spare. You may have tried one like this already. Once clipped onto your belt the case can be rotated 360 degrees through eight different, fairly firm positions 45 degrees apart. If you don't want the rotation capability you could easily glue it in the position you want. The flap is held in place magnetically.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/191366031321
Those are the specs I am looking for. But I'm also wanting a horizontal pouch. I also need a very good clip. I usually get one that has the the extra belt loops on each side of the clip. I work on a ladder all the time and usually have other things on my belt also. I've had lesser clips work their way off while up there and phones don't do well from a drop that far up.
