Alright, I'm fairly new to MIUI, but not a newb when it comes to ROMs.
Ive already set up basically everything else that i would like on my phone (and I am MORE than satisfied with switching to MIUI. geez this ROM is lovely)
but noticed after a conglomerate of what seemed foreign numbers texting me - that none of my contacts from my sim were detected.
this was when i was still on 1.7.1. I am now on 1.7.8 and from what i understand - SIM Contact Importing should be possible.
MIUI still says there are no contacts on the SIM when i try to import them, and im 100% sure they are there. Popped my sim back into my old samsung and there they were.
Has anyone else had this issue or found a fix to this? Sorry if i didnt search thru the forums long enough to find this anwser.
Im on an HTC Inspire 4G.
Hi,
I have the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant. I'm currently running Onecosmic's ICS ROM RC1. Have you managed to find a solution for this problem?

Firstly, please use the respective Q&A threads for ROM related questions, it may seem dumb to you but it does help keep the forum clean and tidy. Imagine having a new thread for every question ever asked about each ROM.
Secondly, I know CM built ROMs have this problem and I remember somewhere that all AOSP ROMs have this issue with the ROM not reading the SIM card. You can either manually input them or just sync your contacts to Gmail.
Do a nandroid then load up a stock ROM go into contacts and save export them to your sd then reload your nandroid and import the file from sd and you should be good to go.
Sent through the power of Cthulhu!!!

You are right. All AOSP roms and any rom built on CM coding has this issue.
Asking right about posting in proper thread and device forum.

I recently updated my ROM from the factory default to Dutty's WM6.1 ROM but now it seems like it has slowed down my device a bit and I also noticed that when I go to my programs or my setting most of the icons don’t show up, the names do but the icon is not present. Anyone know what could be causing this or how to solve this issue? Thanks

Ask this question in Dutty's rom thread. He can help you.
You my friend are a serial threader. You just had your previous thread closed and here you are creating a new one. Are you really that dunce that you can't take a hint? Nice. Job well done. Welcome to banned-ville. Home of the idiots.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387771 <<Previous thread created 1.50 hrs ago and closed 32 minutes prior to you creating this one.
Edit:
Can you tell me what causes this form of mental retardation? I am curious. Was it lack of oxygen during the birthing process? Was it too much drug use? Please tell me.
Both redundant threads merged. As suggested by others, if you have a question about a ROM, make sure to post it in the appropriate ROM thread.
If you have any questions about why your threads were merged and locked, you can read the forum rules and watch this video.
Friends,
I have just installed the new official ATT HTC ROM (5.11.502.2 WWE) and have been having some issues. I thought a lot of people might benefit from having a recent thread just to talk about these.
My current question is this: I have always been able to use MP3 and WMA files as ringtones on WM devices (HTC or other) and even on the original Fuze stock ROM from ATT. However, the new ROM seems to have shut out this capability. When I paste these files into the "rings" subfolder of the "Windows" folder, they still don't show up in the list in the phone rings menu, or in Contacts under the ring tones. They always have before, with no modification at all. Has ATT/HTC blocked this feature to sell more ringtones? If so, does anyone know a way to work around this block? Is there a registry setting that could open this up again? Thanks for your help. And please consider this thread an appropriate place to discuss any issue related to the new ROM release.
use the search function on this particular forum. There are plenty of answers already that addressed your current problem.

Thanks, but I just search this forum using "Ring tones" and came up with nothing but my post. I found a lot of other posts about the general issue in a variety of phones, have tried all of those suggestions, none work. So I would still appreciate specific help related to what has been changed in the new ROM.
I searched "ATT rom update ringtone"
and I got 3 threads that all link to the same issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531237&highlight=att+rom+update+ringtone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=528899&highlight=att+rom+update+ringtone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3902961&postcount=29
don't search just the word ringtone. Your problem is related to the ATT fuze, the updated rom, and ringtones. Use those criterias next time. good luck.
EDIT: on second search on JUST the term "ringtone" brought up all 3 posts that had answers to your problem. Don't look at just the first thread on top. go through the list and they will tell you what the thread's about.
Thanks.
Thanks, I changed the registry entry that limited the size of the file, and the problem is fixed.
hello all...i have a couple questions and im hoping a few of you guys will take the time to help me out...thanks in advance
1. ive tried 3 or 4 new roms (juicy, mightymike, energys...)and for some reason the data connection turns on by itself...ive already checked to make sure that nothing is automatically updating (weather, stocks, etc) and theyre not....ive read that n 6.5 the data connection reads a on but its really not??? can someone help me out because my battery seems to be draining quickly.
2.battery life on the above mentioned roms seem to be not that great.
3.my phone runs at anywhere from 55 to 75 on boot up with the above mentioned roms. i tried using the no push inteernet cab and the ssk dynamic resource proxy cab but they dont seem to make a difference
4. i keep hearing about this program called XDA UC...i think i know what it does but im not 100% sure...will someone please elaborate on what this is, and how to use it (ive read the thread on xda about it but it looks like greek to me
5 i cant seem to get MMS to work on any rom what so ever....no sending or receiving...ive tried the "MMS FIXES" that are suppose to work, but they dont help unfortunately
6. on some roms the TF3D audio manager will work and on some it doesnt (and it wouldnt work on my verizon stock rom either)...i wish i could figure this out
i think thats it for now....please help people..this is definitely one of the most helpful, useful, and informative forums ive been on and as always i appreciate anyones input
I've looked everywhere for the answer, but can't seem to find it.
I am having trouble copying text messages from my SIM-card to my phone memory.
Is there anyone who knows how to solve that issue? I am using an HTC Diamond with WM6.5.
Thanks a lot.

Bump for visibility.
hahahahaha I had tried this for a very long time!
Seriously it too annoying!
In the end all I could do is :
put my sim in a nokia phone
transfer messages to the phone
sent them to diamond via bt!!
Sorry for the lame solution, but there is no other way!

Asus sim manager(any version) does it

Great, but I cannot find the sim manager files, only ROMs containing it (dumping them would take a lot of time). Is there any way you could send it to me?
Thanks.

allright, here's quickmade cab of asussimmgr.
idd, there's option to copy sim msgs into device(and from device to card) there, hmm nice.
i am not sure, if it will work for HTC devices(i've added policy to cab that should allow that), but i think it should.
Thanks
Thanks pupakota
hope it helps others

i'd be glad, if it works
Just downloaded and trying it out right now...
And YES, it works! I am very glad you guys helped me out!
Thanks a lot!
You can also use apps below to save the sms located on sim card & import to device.
Have done so on wm2003se wm5 wm6 wm6.1 & wm6.5 custom ROMs
i don't exactly know what you guys here are talking about...
but if its simply about copying a sms from the sim to the phone (as the title suggests) then i don't see how come no one's posted the most obvious solution i've used myself before...
just as background info to those who need to know- i'm running a com5 23569 self-cooked rom on my htc gene (p3400)
and i stumbled upon the solution to this problem you mentioned while going through one of the millions of flashes and restores we chefs go through...
all i did to copy the message onto the phone memory was open the msg to view it and then hit the left soft key to open the menu and the last option on the menu list simply reads 'copy to phone'...i tap on that and voila!! its done...
do let me know if it works coz i don't think it would be this simple and yet left untried by anyone else and requiring external apps to be installed for it to be done...

don't usually have to contend with too many messages myself...this only arises when i put my sim into a temp phone while the flashing process completes...and at worst i have 4-5 messages to contend with...
ppcpimbackup is my first pick too but i don't remember trying it out on sim messages...worth a shot though...
WOW plenty of options available! thank you guys.
@psychocyst : just saw your sig. loved it
I ran JellyWiz for a few days but there were a few things I needed that I couldn't get ( I Know due to the T Mobile Base.) I need the Verizon usage widget to work along with I was missing NFL Mobile... I know I read in the right thread (I have to post here since I have never posted on this site but am rather experienced with Android..) that you can possible change the build. prop to get the verizon apps available in the Play Store.... But my reason for all of this is I REALLY want to keyboard he used in this ROM.... (Stock Hybrid not custom.) I have searched the net high and low looking for what version it is... I tried to extract it from the ROM and installed it but it kept crashing... I am assuming because the build.prop was for 4.0.3 and I am wanting to run it with 4.0.4 Can someone point me in the direction of where to locate a working .APK for 4.0.4 or get me going in the right direction.... Like I said I can pull it from the ROM but am not sure what all I need to change in my ROM to make it work.... Thank YOU for any help..... I am going to go browse through this section and start answering some questions here so I can build my rep up and be able to inquire in a more appropriate location... Thanks Guys and Gals have a gooden!!
Please ignore this... After further flashing I now see that it is all just the stock Samsung keyboard... It had been so long since I set up any emails on my rom that I noticed the "@" and ".com" buttons on JellyWiz and really wanted them on mine... I have them more or less already... The layout is a little different but when typing in an email address field it brings them up automatically..... I do feel very schmucky for this........
