Hey guys, wonderinng what the best app is for GPU overclock control? Running Tiamat 1.1 and it doesn't look like it's built into the settings anywhere a la CyanogenMod...?

I don't know of any app available to manage the gpu overclock. Unlike the CPU multiple frequencies, I think Tiamat of gpu is one just frequency.

If I have CM7 #54, do I need a special kernel or not?
SetCPU is not detecting the frequencies for me
I am using CPUMaster but I have the free version only
What is the best software to overclock automatically?
I also want profiles (Battery temp, battery %, screen off...)
In Quadrant I got 3000 points with 1.5Ghz
Now I only need to find a way to overclock it and have all the profiles and boot overclock work right out of the box
Thanks a lot
Sooooo you over clocked to it to 1.5, but yet you still need to find a way to do it?? Read..... all the answers are in this very section....
Oh by the way wrong section to post.

ok first set cpu will not be able to oc for you. use pimp my cpu you should be able to find it if you do a search. second if you want to oc use faux's kernel for that.

4500 with faux rom 1.2.4 and 0.2.2 kernel.

I used SetCPU before on my OptimusT, and it was actually working pretty good, BUT NOT ON LGE STAR. For now, the best overlocking app for LGE STAR is PimpMyCPU WITH CUSTOMIZED KERNEL.
With FR and Faux's kernel, you can easily get 4000+ on Quadrant.
With GB and its own kernel, I think we just get like 3000+

Oh 1 more thing, T-mobile doesn't release the GB update for LGE Star yet. The CM project is built based on the GB source code only...

Use pimp my cpu, setcpu doesn't let you overclock. It only shows your cpu speed but nothing else.

I thoroughly tested OC on CM with different kernels. I got the best results with the Trinity kernel. My highest recorded Quadrant score was 4920 and I averaged 4690 over 10 trials with that configuration.

I'm trying to get some more juice out of my tablet and even a 1.23 ghz overclock will cause the tablet to freeze up.
Does this fall under "your tablet may vary" type of situation? Cause it looks like my tablet is a piece of crap lol
Possibly or could be the Kernel you are using, or could be the overclocking app you are using
I used Clemsyns Kernel with setCPU and could bench @ 1.6ghz
how to set Setcup to overclock 1.6ghz?

I failed to overclock 1.6ghz. It just works at 1.33ghz. how to set Setcpu??
Not all tf will be able to oc to 1.6ghz. Some don't like to be oc at all. Yeah the YMMV does apply to OC'ing

Damn I'm jealous. Mine benches barely at 1.23ghz. I tried both on the Revolution HD Rom with Daemon app and also using Revolver + Clemsyn v22 + setCPU.
I'm looking for a kernel that will let me overclock and also undervolt. And I want to be able to set profiles, so I'd like to be able to select my low-power profile (undervolt, 1GHz) and, say, a performance profile (normal volts, 1.2GHz).
Any suggestions?
Terrible! We need more info, I see in your signature you are running cm nightly 225! Not everyone is on the actual site. you have 2 choices Faux or Morfic pick one try it out.

+1 you have to try them out all phones aren't created equally and aren't as stable. use pimp my cpu to set those profiles, its free on xda
I only want to try out the ones that meet my requirements.
I'm already using SetCPU.

Just installed Trinity ELP. SetCPU crashed with that kernel so I bought Pimp My CPU.
1.1GHz isn't quite enough for me for some HD videos.
Is it possible to overclock the Adreno 225 GPU, I play mostly N64oid and FPSE on my phone. Its for FPSE mostly because of the Open GL plugin might see some increase by overclocking the GPU. Also dose any one know what its running at currently, i'm not really sure if overclocking the CPU also overclocks the GPU if they are synchronized or something.
Any other emulator users out there that love using their phone for game play?

Yea.....I was just wondering if we had a kernel that had it OCed yet....that is what I meant by possible...with some chips the CPU and GPU need to be scaled the same to work correctly. So if the stock CPU speed is set so is the STOCK GPU speed......I think...do we even have a kernel OCing the CPU for the VGSIII?
Not sure if your trolling or what but Desktop GPU and Phone GPU are two different beasts. Not many people really even care to check what GPU is on a phone and how is stacks up against other phone GPUs. For example the Mali 400 in the Galaxy S II in the US makes the Galaxy S III GPU look like an old Voodoo card next to a GTX 480.....just saying we got ripped on the GPU hardware upgrade for the US iteration of the Galaxy S series. Its actually a downgrade and it blows now that I don't have sprint(because their network is trash).
Currently Verizon does not have a GPU in a phone with 4G that can match the Mali 400. I don't want to wait until the Galaxy Note 2 comes to Verizon...seeing as it has the same hardware as the international version of the Galaxy S III just with a bigger screen. However if a OCed GPU does not get me the performance I am looking for then I will be jumping to the GN2 as soon as it comes out.
The OP of the kernel thread you decide to look at should say whether the GPU is OC'd or not. For example, both TW kernels Trinity and Leankernel have the GPU OC'd to 480 mhz. If you're asking can we users manually OC the GPU, then I can't help you with that.

Anyone tried this? I've come across a video for the galaxy s ii overclocking the same gpu. After looking into, it seems that this gpu has been used in many different platforms at different clock speeds. i dont have the "know how" to overclock a gpu, but would it be as simple as changing the system values?

So far the only way to overclock the GPU is by overclocking the FSB, which will also overclock the CPU. Some kernels have it cooked in (Trinity for example), some offer a way to do it (Live OC enabled kernels) and some have an hybrid (Marmite has GPU overclock for 1.1GHz but not for 1.2GHz).
I'll check those out

Front side bus. The frequency of the CPU is determined by a multiplier X FSB.
CPU runs at 1000MHz. FSB is at 200MHz. GPU is on a 1:1 ratio with the FSB, thus runs at 200MHz
Every megahertz added to the FSB will make the CPU run 5MHz faster.
210MHz FSB x 5 = 1050MHz and 210MHz GPU
Marmite kernel has a 1096MHz step for CPU that comes with a GPU oc @ 220mhz

Does this apply to all SOCs or just the one n the nexus s?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium HD app
Marmite is only for the nexus s, and I believe every soc is its own unique methods and limits of oc
