Ok, let me say this: im kinda panic
i downloaded the rom manager and a 2.2 vibrant rom, and installed it and this is what happened: i couldnt get att signal anymore.
I dont know how to change it back to 2.1 and my phone is now like...er...useless...?
I'm a newbie and not too bright...so i didnt really understand how to fix my problem now...
anyone can help me?

Hm...because the one coming with captivate sucks...?
It cannot automatically detect the netmask of a protected wifi and I have to do it manually with gscript and i hate that, and i want to try out 2.2

Yea I've just installed Cog 2.3b and it seems to work pretty well
Where can I find a file to get multiple lock screen mods for Samsung captivate running official froyo ROM? If there is a file to flash using CWM recovery then please give the link here. Thanks

Ok, I googled the phrase "deodex android".
It looks like the 3rd result is a HOW-TO (it is titled that anyway). So I am off to read this! I'll let you know what happens later.
I still need to know if flashing this mod will wipeout my matted blue theme!

I said thanks because finally I know how to google hahahaha good one ..when there are multiple links on deodexing with creation/update dates going back to 2010 (when we didn't have official froyo) I don't take risk because not all ppl here in this forum are as smart as ppl like you!

it doesnt matter if its froyo or eclair, or what rom you are on....heck it almost doesnt matter what PHONE you are on. deodexing is the same process across the board

That I know / understand now! So, won't have that question anymore. In the adb shell command I see it is referring to ext3. I flashed voodoo lagfix injected kernel and somewhere I read it changes it to ext4 or something like that ..is it something I need to watch at least or it doesn't matter too! Also, do you know any other method to deodex? Like through a root app...

why go through all the trouble? just flash a custom rom like cognition....its just like stock with some mods like power button menu and lockscreens....

Yeah I agree with you! The cognition 4.1.1 has the same touchwiz UI..I mean pinch to preview screens and app drawer?

don't need to do a system dump to get apk's if there's a CWM file, just open it up and rip out what you need.. taking apart stock odin files takes a bit more work

If you're on GB then you can simply extract the AllShare.apk from a ROM that has it or go in one of lumins thing and look for the APK. IF it fails to install try pushing it and fixing permissions. It will most likely fail because it has Samsung proprietary stuff so just follow Lumins guide if nothing goes into plan.
If it doesn't work at all then I'm sorry, it might need other proprietary stuff like Swype.

I know how to do that is just that alm the links for the old roms containing this app I want are dead, that's why I was asking for the apk .

check lumins links in his signature I think he has a link to the gb 2.3.6 repository which should have the allshare app.

I had to flash back to stock, and I remembered this thread, lucky you.
so... here is the apk, not sure it will work because is may have dependencies, but try it out.
apk does not say AllShare, but the icon matches the app in the drawer.
if it won't install, push it to the system\apps folder with a root file explorer.

Just curious, did it install or did you have to push it?
I was afraid that would be the case. It most likely has touchwiz and other proprietary Samsung files it depends on. Possibly even the kernel like wifi calling.

You can see in logcat when an apk won't install because it is missing something -- and it will usually say what. I've seen clear logcat indications that TW libraries are what is missing on Memo.apk, for example.
Heys guys.....need some urgent help. i recently got my samsung infuse rooted. now when i get calls..............i cant hear the person callin and they cant hear me. it really sucks since i'm missin alot of important calls. also i cant seam to stream vids from the internet like before. is there something i need to do. any help greatly appreciated:good::good::good:

to be honest i dont kno. i got a zip file that said infuse root.zip. and erecovery, followed the steps on youtube and i was pleased to see the superuser app on my phone. but since then till now i cant play vids off the net and when i answer my phone or make a call the other person and myself hera absolutely nothing

I checked out qbkings videos and they are all a year old I would suggest checking out this thread its got the easiest method I think to get rooted and cwm recovery included plus it will help you out if you ever get in a jam be sure to read read read
