[Q] Help with screenshot/rooting - HTC Sensation

Hey guys! I'm a complete noob to all this! Lol. So Could someone please help with how to take a screenshot on the sensation 4g? Or someone guide me step by step on how to root the phone using "temp root"?
Thank you guys!

Unfortunately you need root to take a screenshot. Its possible via the app "ShootMe" which is available in the Market.
To obtain temp root you need adb installed with necessary drivers. Then you simply visit any thread that offers temp root and run the batch command file; it does it all for you.

You can check this thread for some instructions:

Temp root and then use Drocap2 from the market, works fine here.

Yeah thanks guys! But how exactly do I do the temp root? Coz it just seems to be too complicated and difficult. So could someone guide me step by step if possible? I'm using a windows 7 laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

are you reading the links/stickies we point you to? people have made guides showing you step by step what to do. follow them.

[Q] Desire Z

Before i start, i apologise because i know this is probably a recurring question.
I would like to root my desire z. i have read through several tutorials on a few sites, including this thread, but i am still a bit confused as to which tutorial i should follow for my phone. some of the comments say you need to use a different tutorial for the desire z?
Could anyone clarify and post a link to a complete tutorial for me which will allow me to backup etc. This is all completely new to me and it's not something i want to risk getting wrong.
Thanks
You don't backup before rooting. You can try z4 root app. Just google the download link. Its a one click root which supports most devices.

Go to YouTube and lookup Nat3mil. He
has great step by step videos of the whole process. U'll need to spend some money in Market too for ROM Manager, Root Explorer and a few others. Get the MR2 radio not MR1. Good Luck!
Use the google machine! One click root. It does the adb for you in 3 steps.
THUNDERBOLT
Is the process the same with a stock mr2 ruu? From what i understood update using the other mr2 radio leak then update to one of the the roms.

I knew nothing about ADB but rooted my phone in about an hour.

weekend to the thudnerbolt and will be looking
to root my device as well
I've been searching to get the answer to my wifi
question but i can't seem to find a definite answer.
- after rooting, what do you use to get wifi tether?
pdanet, android wifi tether any others you'd recommend?
Nice I'm waiting to root my phone like I did my DX with just an app

Pretty easy to do and if you watch the video and do it step by step you can't go wrong...so easy a caveman could do it.
Congrats Carlito, welcome to the rooted world. You'll never go back.
Coliny, once I rooted I got Rom Manager immediately and a few other root apps. I flashed the radio after flashing new rom - worked fine.

I agree. Learning how adb works is a huge help when it comes to problems down the road. Not hard to understand the basics.

How do i root the asus?

So my transformer is on the way. While i do plan to play with it stock first, i would love to know if there is a noob friendly tutorial to rooting this beast.
While im not a noob in rooting my phone, i am a total noob with tablets. A link to a comprehensive tutorial would be lovely.
I appreciate any help guys

There are a lot of tutorials written here - for all possibilities - latest is the nachoroot method and I did write a guide as well. Use search
Nachoroot method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427838
pjfriend's method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1417006
If you run in to problems with either of them (pjfriend's method worked for me yesterday running 8.6.5.21 on a TF101 B80 model transformer), check the threads because most problems have occurred before and have been addressed.
I appreciate it guys. Just waiting for it to get here.

Q: Unlocking and rooting with Mac comp help!

Hey guy's I'm new to the forum and was wondering if there is any easy ways to unlock, root and install clockwork recovery using a mac computer? Everything I find online is for using a windows pc. I'm currently using snow leopard is and updated my sensation to ICS. Please help with info not negative feedback! I know I'm a noob, I have no shame in that. Thanx.

Hi welcome, I've also done a search on rooting with mac and found many questions with few answers as you know.it might even be easier if no one has any clear answers for you to borrow a friend's windows computer and to root that way . It won't take that long and will be a whole lot easier for you. I'm truly sorry I don't have a clear answer but I wanted to offer this solution. If it were me, this is what I would do. I wish you the best and if you don't find a definite answer, this could be a option for you. Good luck. Keep us posted on what you decide to do.

Quick Questions

Hello everyone ive been jailbreaking iPhones for quite some time but im pretty new to Android and rooting.
I got an HTC Acquire and saw in a website that i could root it with the HTC Quick Root that this tool can root any htc phone.
But when I get to the thread it says something about s-on and s-off or something along those lines.
Can someone please explain what this is and tell me how to verify that in my phone?
And if i root will i lose everything i have installed?
Thabks in advance

What website was this? You should really try to use root methods that are developed here on XDA. Just search for your phone in the search, and read through the forums there (although I'm not seeing one for the Acquire). Android Police sometimes has root methods, too.
If you root, you shouldn't lose all of your data, as long as you follow the instructions to the letter. Still, it's a good idea to back up whatever data you can (contacts, pictures, music, etc.) just to be on the safe side.
The transition from jailbreaking iOS to rooting Android can be quite confusing. As an iPod touch owner, I feel your pain. Just take the time to read through everything. Then take the time to reread it again.
I hoped I helped. Welcome to the world of Android!

s-on and s-off is related to the bootloader on your phone. i'd suggest you go to any of the htc threads plus others here on xda and you can get info about everything like rooting, bootloader, flashing custom roms, recovery etc
Is that kind of info tje same for every htc or u mean asking in one of those threads

The terms "rooting," "bootloader," and "flashing" are all related to pretty much any Android device. Rooting is the same as jail breaking - it gives you superuser permissions to your phone's filesystem - but every device has a different method to obtain root (or so I'm told). The bootloader - I think - has something to do with booting up the Android filesystem (but don't quote me on it). Flashing is a way to install tweaks, apps, and themes to your device through a custom recovery, all while the device's file-system still isn't completely activated (kind of like restarting the SpringBoard on an iPhone after changing a theme or installing a tweak from Cydia). Try Googling these terms, that's how I got started.
The thread you mentioned said something about having an unlocked bootloader. You may want to look into that before you try rooting.
I just got off of ten straight hours of work, so I hope this made some kind of sense
