i laugh because i told those guys long ago that htc wouldn't unlock the bootloader at launch and i got my butt reamed over it. now most of them are returning their devices. in case you haven't heard unless a dev achieves cracking the bootloader htc is not unlocking that phone.

they have achieved temp root, they cannot crack the encrypted bootloader, which means no recovery or custom roms. it's not about achieving root, it's about achieving "full root" and nand access.

I haven't tried it or heard of anyone attempting it, there are some easy root options here but personally I always recommend rooting the hard way first, it's rather simple and helps you keep your adb skills up to par.
It may be just me but I like to know how I got from point A to point B so I know exactly where something went wrong. z4root is a great app for people who have already rooted their device and have lost root, however it gets a lot of people where they don't belong with absolutely no knowledge of adb and then come to the community for help but don't know what went wrong making it near to impossible for us to correct, which they then file an insurance claim and send back the device they broke, which in my opinion is one of the main reasons some manufacturers are locking down hard.
Sorry for the rant! However I would NOT attempt to use z4root. Follow the guides here, it's untested and could have adverse affects on your device.
No. Don't even. Stop. Use the root method that is OFFICIALLY supported A.K.A. the manual way.

If you're trying to look like a witty person you failed. Last time I checked this was XDA, I thought that here one XDA we hacked phones, removed bloatware, themed them, and had our own SUPPORTED methods for certain things that have been tried and tested. Ninety-eight percent of things on this website would not be supported by VZW due to the fact most of things void your warranty or go against TOS and since you're here, and you are posting in a thread about z4root I can only assume you know that (and that's giving you the benefit of the doubt that you might have the slightest bit of knowledge about what we do here).
I'm not really sure what it is that compels people to post moronic arbitrary comments in hopes of getting a rise out of people rather than posting something useful. ProTekk did his homework and gave the OP a link to the supported method for root here in the Thunderbolt forums, if you have an issue with people being helpful I suggest you move along and find a more fitting environment where people are more inclined to feed the trolls this isn't /b/ for god sakes.

They didn't promise anything about the sensation. This phone was a month from release when that was announced. U had to know they meant phones after the sensation and Evo 3d
He saying people getting tired of waiting they could just let people know if it's getting unlocked or not so people can abandon this phone for a rootable devices. I really wish people would stop crying over the fact that this phone will have never have it's bootloader unlocked. It's depressing.
Jesus Christ u guys are f***** babies.
This is like the 8th thread about the same thing. There is one Rom avail. If s off was availble u will be complaining about the one rom that is present and u want more. U have root and u have the overclocking ability now. U know what u were getting into during the purchase. The ones that are complaining should have just held out till s off has been implemented.
U want it so bad develop it.
Humans are working on s off not robots. The phone isn't even a month old so pull down your skirts and stop complaining. They already said the developers are bricking their phones trying to get s off correctly. So do u still want them to rush it? Than that will be something else you guys can ***** and moan about. Than 100's of threads will pop up:

No, we don't have the overclocking ability with the Sensation, only with the Evo 3D, get informed before taking such a superior-I-m-more-adult-than-you tone.
We can only downclock so far, it won't go over the stock 1188Mhz.
As it was said here before, whether HTC unlock the Sensation and the Evo or not, they could at least answer YES or NO. It has been one month with not a single official piece of information from HTC about this.
The work of devs on these devices is amazing, no need for them to rush in, they already did better than HTC did, when for HTC unlocking our devices would just be so easy.....

Well, we have to consider many things.
First and most importantly, Google just acquired Motorola's mobile phones division for $12.5 billion. That means that they are gonna be a major hardware manufacturer and the phones that they make will probably be able to handle Android better than the rest of the competition.
Also, don't forget that 2011 is the year of the rabbit. The rabbit is a swift little creature and it doesn't like to get caught.
If we compare cyanogemod to the rabbit, and then compare that to google's purchase of Moto's mobile division, then we can clearly see that there's no connection between any of these things.
So long story short, yes, we still don't know. We're all just sitting tight.
sad part is once they get cm7 they will want something else lol
I'm hoping for a MIUI released right after that

As of right now all we really need to use is factory reset if something gets messed up. Custom Roms sounds nice but I'm more interested in overclock this puppy and adding some extra lock screens. *sits and waits patiently*

Sbf is step 1 toward getting the Atrix 2 development friendly.

re-read your comment. if it wasnt meant to be derogatory, then fine. you made it sound as if devs owed you a rom, even if it was stock based. i dont think you understand what devving a rom entails. please stop comparing this to the sony you used to have. i can tell you from my experience with motorola, htc, and samsung that none of them are similar....im going to assume that sony would be different as well. just because something works for one device does NOT mean it will work for another. same reason we couldnt get anything really decent over on the atrix until the BL was unlocked. every device is different, some even within the same manufacturer dont act the same as another within. patience, please. i dont know if you noticed, but there arent exactly a ton of developers coming over to the atrix2 side of things right now. we will work with what we have. now that i have my vivid, i can start focusing on tearing up the atrix 2.

I've already made it clear my level of understanding of not only the Android system but also the Atrix 2, not gonna rehash that.
Check my resume here on xda, I have never been one of those guys who felt like any developer owed me anything! There was NOTHING negative about me saying apparrently the devs feel its a waste of time to dev a stock based rom. How you can conclude that I feel like a dev owes me a rom or that im being negative towards them is beyond me.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you. xD He's really the only guy working toward anything major for the A2 and you're post did kinda sound like it's an expectation that a rom be made for us.

Sorry guy, he's nowhere near that important to me. If I said "koriflame doesnt like milk", does that sound like I meant that you should like milk?

Didnt know if anyone happened to see this today or not...HTC CEO announced no more locked bootloaders on upcoming HTC phones. not sure if this will impact the 2.20 update or if AT&T will allow it but, nice none the less

Yeah that statement sounds awfully familiar
I'll believe it when I see it.
Nothing I can find on tech spot regarding htc and bootloader except for last year's lie.

I'm thinking you read an old article. I searched techspot and like gunny, all I found was last years announcement that they failed to make good on.
Was this the article you read? You should really learn to check the dates on these things- http://www.techspot.com/news/43977-htc-ceo-says-future-phones-will-be-more-root-friendly.html
