Water Damaged Display problem (LCD or Main Board) - General Questions and Answers

Had my LG P999 G2x dropped on a large glass of ice tea (No sugar ). Did the normal this for such and accident. Remove Battery, took it a part, rice ect.
After that put it back together. It worked. Great for 5 hours. Then the screen start smearing hightlight colors top to botton. Turn it off it would be fine, then do it again. Not it will not stop.
What I need to know is this the electronics on the LCD or a problem with the motherboard. Look at the picture and see what you think. First was taken with camera of what I am seeing. The other is a screen capture taken using the home & power buttons on the G2x.
Thanks for you feedback.

going out on a limb and saying the Screen, because if the MB was messed up, you'd have more problems than you have now.
I am no freaking einstein though.
PS - Iced Tea tastes like piss. Sweet tea all day. That's how us proper, correct people in the nice states like our tea.

That is what I am thinking. I just don't want to speed money on wrong part. I have found the dispay on ebay shipped in the US for $55. Lot cheaper then I thought it would be. Think I will get it. Will post results when done.
PS - Tastes like piss? You go around tasting much piss? Sweet tea is for kids.
Again thanks for your input.

That Annoying GSM Buzzing - Stop it!

So I was on YouTube today just browsing through videos and I stumbled upon this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzCZQOsdROc
Well, like the sucker I am, I was going to go to the website and and see how much they wanted for it so I could buy one, because I just HATE THAT STUPID BUZZING!
Went to the site: http://stopthebuzzin.com/
Was looking at pictures:

Hmm... Looks like it could be anything. Who knows what makes it work.
And then I saw this picture:
Wow, they're silver, but they're semi-transparent! That's just like... an anti-static bag!
So in my infinite wisdom, I went to my cache of antistatic bags and pulled one out. I turned my stereo on and set the phone right in front of it. "Buzzzzzz buzzz buzzzzzzz" came from the speakers. So, I moved it on top of the anti-static bag... and it was GONE!
So yeah, they're just selling mini anti-static bags that come with any new computer part that you buy. You could probably get them for free from your local computer shop.
If you have one laying around... try it! It works!
Great find! I'm surprised I never thought of this, never really annoyed me enough to do research on it.
Now I just need an anti-static bag large enough to house my laptop, which also causes this, but is far worse.
So basically it's an RF shield like most electronics have inside them. However, your phone depends on certain RF frequencies being transmitted, so I can be reasonably certain that using an RF shield could certainly also reduce reception.
So while you could shield nearby wires/speakers, etc, shielding the phone itself would certainly be a bad idea.

{DIY}My new Dock

Well after leaving my night stand cluttered for so long I finally decided to clean it up. I have always just had a hat that I would throw my change and keys in and would tuck my ac cord under so that it wouldnt slide away but today I just grew tired of that. You see my wife has this sunglass holder that sits on her vanity with her sunglasses but really just collects dust. So today I decided that I would take ownership and create something to solve my cluttered night stand. I first broke out my drill and took the sunglass holders off only to then countersink the screws that held the wood to the plexi glass. After that I cut a quarter size whole in the top for this jewel to become my new piggy bank(will find myself saving change instead of taking it all the time). After that I added some leg wholes for andy to rest atop the mountain. The next features were towel hooks to hold my phone, ipod touch, keys, and watch. All and all I am pleased with my setup however am going to order some stickers for the wood to make more appealing. So what do you think??

NICE! Great idea!
that's awesome
*looks at my clutter*

Thanks, I just think the best thing is how I have a piggy bank now that is a pain to get into. Figure I'll wait till its full and buy a new device with all that change

[Q] white spots on screen?

So last night I was grabbing a beer from the fridge and a pan of leftover lasagna was about to fall out. I saved the lasagna but I lost my grip on my transformer and it hit the kitchen tile floor from about 4 feet. I panicked when it happened, the bezel popped slightly out if place and the screen cut off, fortunately the bezel snapped back into place and the LCD didn't shatter, everything is fine but one thing.
In the center of the screen there are a few white blotches. It resembles backlight bleeding sort of, it only shows up on dark backgrounds. Here's an example I tried to take with my phone.

Does anyone have a remedy? Is this covered under asus warranty?
Try your luck and tell them it was defective from date of purchase.
it did have backlight bleeding, but this was my 3rd try an dit wasn't so bad as the others so I dealt with it. Should be terms for a new display altogether I guess.
The thing that worries me is that I have a pretty bad knick in the corner from it scraping against something a few months ago. Its sanded down however.
I tried calling the number on my warranty card but its was busy. Its the day after Christmas, go figure.
lol SAVE THE LASAGNA! I too have some waiting in the fridge since Christmas.
But seriously, people have complained about white blotches appearing spontaneously so I don't really think it would be that bad to just tell Asus that it appeared on its own. Though they might reject you on the basis of the sanded down edge/corner whatever and claim physical damage. You're welcome to try and convince them it's only superficial. I think you'll get through.

[APP][2.2+] Awkward Turtle: Never be awkward again!

Hi everyone!
A few months ago I reached out online looking for a chance to get into Android design, and met a fellow online who had a simple app idea he was working on.
We began our work, and after a few weeks I'm finally able to post here for once instead of just browsing!

MARKET DESCRIPTION:
Don't be an Awkward Turtle.
Have you ever found yourself in a conversation without any idea what to say next? Then Awkward Turtle is the thing for you! Awkward turtle is a free app that will supply you with one of over 150 random facts to get that conversation right back on its feet.
Awkward Turtle has a multitude of facts ranging from the interesting - "Facebook has increased it's revenue by 2400% in the past five years", the thought provoking - "A compressed spring weighs more than a relaxed spring", and also the down right weird - "A donkey will sink in quicksand but a mule won't".

This is our first app, so please give it a try and perhaps a market rating on your honest impressions with our effort. We spent a lot of time trying to polish it, and plan on adding new features and content in the coming weeks.
We're also coming across some issues where certain phones should work but don't. It seems to be a market issue, so if you come across such a thing please let us know, or if you're also a developer who has come across something like this your advice would be appreciated. For some reason people find their phone incompatible, yet installing the .apk directly works.
Thanks for taking a look, and I hope you our app can entertain you even just for a few minutes.
Funny app
Great job.

Lepow 6000mAh Review

I was asked if I could do a review if one of these sent to me. I agreed as I love to do reviews even though my time is very limited. I will do my best to explain what I liked and what I didn't like.
I received the package and was quite surprised by little extras they put in the box. Most were things I gave the kids to play with as I did not have a need for a stylus. However, it was a nice additional bonus. I have attached a picture of the swag in the box.
I already owned 2 monoprice batteries so that is what I have to compare this to. It has 2 ports for charging just like the monoprice ones. I do like the battery level meter much better than MP. When you press the button the led's light up in 1-2-3-4-5 order, which is just a nice little touch.
Shortly after receiving, I had to take a trip out of town and found myself finding a good use for this. I was doing some site seeing which meant lots of pics on my s4 and on my son's iphone4 (gasp.. boo boo)
My phone was fine but that iphone just sucked battery so I gave it to my kid. It really was handy as I tossed his phone and charger in my backpack while it did its magic. The charge time seemed fine.
The unit works as it should and as I expected. The one issue I had, and it could be just my issue... is the battery is a bit slippery. On my MP unit the paint is a little rough where this is very glossy.
I do like the different color options and the gloss does make it stand out. I can see myself putting a piece of electrical tape around it, just 1 wrap around to give it some texture.
Hope this review helps anyone looking for one of these. I am attaching a link to amazon and several pictures.
