Tmobile wifi calling - XPERIA X10 Themes and Apps

How can I get the tmobile wifi calling app working on my x10? I'm going to cancun for 5 days next week. I ask tmobile and they say it cost about $1.5 per minute calling from cancun...

It will not work. I tried the app myself and it didn't work.
It needs to be "hacked" for it to work for our phones..

ok thanx!
but is there any free VoIP app i can use without paying extra cost?? im talking about app to any US numbers not app to app for free like skype...

IMHO, if you have a laptop, and access to free wifi, just use MagicJack.. Then register your number to your area code..
I can' t think of any other ways to do it. Try researching about SIP..

switching... port to verizon or G.voice.

I'm trying to decide if I should port my AT&T number to my new verizon acct or port it to G.voice and get a new phone number for my Verizon phone.
Anyone think one or the other might be better?
Really want a dual core android phone, but don't want to miss out on unlimited data 4G plan.
I've been using my Google Voice number as my primary number for at least a year now. Unless MMS is really important to you, I'd use Google Voice.
Exactly what he said. You also miss out on free mobile to mobile though which is a bummer.

That could be pretty big for some people but the only time I'm on the phone for a really long time, I'm at home and I'm talking to a girl. All I have to do is open up Gmail and make the call through Google Talk.

[Q] Unlock Tether / Wifi Hotspot on Sprint

I don't want to pay $30/mo to use some of my 5 gigs of data on a PC. I get 'internet unavailable' when I use the built-in tethering or WiFi hotspot. I would rather not use PDANet if there is an easy way to get the built-in functionality working.

Next time post in the right forum. This should have been asked under the FAQ section. It helps keep things clean and it helps someone answer quicker.

As far as I know the hot spot just works out of the box

I was thinking the same thing but wasn't sure if that was just something sprint allows you to use free for the first 30 days or something. I vaguely remember having this "trial" when I first got my evo I believe. I'm past my 30 days so I'll try it when I get home.

mine worked right out the box, haven't passed my thirty days though so i don't know
If you install one of netarchys kernels it will work regardless of what plan you pay for at sprint.

Where is the mobile hotspot that came with the phone? Ive never seen it lol
HAHA, I found it. Never even noticed. I dont get good enough service to tether anyway :/

Ahhhh, yes you're right. This is why its always worked for me. Think I've been on a net kernel since the evo.

Yes it works out of the box but wont let you tether over 4g. If you use wireless tether it works around this.

Pay per mb hack

Is there a way to use the pay per mb plan but use as much data as you want without having to pay for every mb you use.
Sent from my galaxy s 4g using XDA app
I wouldn't even think about that.. It's most likely illegal and impossible.
True. Would this internet plan be fine for me if I'm just gonna occasionally check twitter
Sent from my galaxy s 4g using XDA app
If your just doing that, yeah, it's more worth it than a monthly data plan.
"its perfectly possible. Just bloody difficult" - (inception) and its illegal. .

Ok well as long as its enough to just check twitter a few times a day

I have three lines on a 5 gig"unlimited"plan. I stream pandora most of the day and so does my wife, My sister in law never gets off facebook, plus skype with my parents on weekends. We have never gone over 3 gigs and not much wifi use involved. I think you have to be tethering our doing some insane downloading to peak out a plan.
It's not really a plan you just per mb you use
Sent from my galaxy s 4g using XDA app
I think I'm gonna go with the 200 mb plan just so I can use the web more
Sent from my galaxy s 4g using XDA app
I'm on the 2gig 4G plan and thinking about dropping down, actually. Using the net and downloading aps/games/books I've never gone over 400megs in a month even tethering. Unless you're downloading movies or the like you don't really use a ton of bandwidth.
Twitter shouldn't really have much of an impact.
If you have wifi access most or all the time than a 200mb plan is surely enough but if your not but just checking twitter and maybe a couple of other things than your fine. I personally do alot of google maps, pandora, market, netflix, xda, games that require data, and more but im on a 5gig plan and i usually dont ever go over that even if i tether just to check my online mmorpg's hehe
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
the problem with the 200mb plan is it will no longer be unlimited like the other plans where your speed is throttled. tmobile is going to start charging overage fees on that plan. (i dont know the date that it starts though)
I'm thinking 200 mb should definitely be enough. When I goto add that plan I have to call customer service right??
Sent from my galaxy s 4g using XDA app
Lol people talking about not hitting the cap. I hit my 10 gig everytime but thats becuz i use my phones tethering as my home internet and i have been switching roms all the time. Plus all the skyping and qik chatting.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
I definitely wont need 10 gigs I'm just gonna be using it to check twitter and maybe go online a bit

Wifi Tethering Extra Cost?

Well, I would like to wifi tether my SGS4G but it's an extra $15/month. So I was wondering if I rooted my SGS4G, would wifi tethering be free?
yes just root stock and flash the tether fix thats floating around. you dont have to switch roms.

im using sprint btw.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Yeah. Keep in mind that it will void your warranty though.
As long as T-Mobile doesn't detect it, you won't have to pay for it. A customer service rep actually told me that when I asked about it. My sister was using the wireless tethering for months without paying for a plan.
Keep in mind that this was a couple of months ago though. They might have gotten more strict about that.
wifi tethering is included on any android phone 2.2 or higher at no additional cost. (the one thing that i am going to miss about tmobile :*(
Wait, my SGS4G has Froyo, but everyone says that it's extra cost.

If you can tether now without a plan, you're fine.
Just stop once T-Mobile says, "Hey, you've been tethering! You can't do that without a plan!!!" Tell them that the customer rep you went to said you could.
Like I said in my previous post, as long as they don't tell you that you need a plan, you can get away with free tethering. Just keep in mind this information is a few months old.
I believe you can tether with Tmobile, you'll just hit your bandwidth cap a lot sooner and your speed will be throttled down to 2G speeds after you hit your limit.

Leaving the country for a bit on a cruise. Need some help.

OK so I leave to Puerto Rico on Saturday. Then two days later on a cruise out of San juan. Anyway I called verizon today to let them know so they can enable my global capabilities. The fees per minute and megabyte are ridiculous obviously. The Verizon rep I spoke to said I won't be charged if I keep my phone on wifi. I plan to keep it on airplane mode till I enable wifi. I'm leaving my daughter behind and I want to be able to call and check up on her without a ridiculous bill. Is anyone aware of any wifi calling apps that will allow free international calls. I have google voice but I'm not sure if that will work. Any help is appreciated.

You can get wifi calling through signing up for gvoice and using sipdroid, but the wifi on the ships is expensive. From what I remember you can use your phone in Puerto Rico, but it's pricey and theres not much free wifi.
Good luck finding cheap service and have fun.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Thanks I think the verizon rep made an assumption that wifi on the ship would be free. I figured it will would be as well. This sucks my bill will be ridiculous.

Cruise ship wifi is not free from the ones I've been on. But if you really need to call home use a VoIP clients and a VoIP provider. I use Bria and configured it to Flowroute (https://support.flowroute.com/entries/20325927-how-to-configuring-bria-softphone-on-the-iphone).
Another option (this one is free) use gtalk over wifi and then initiate a voicecall.
Good luck and enjoy your cruise!
