Has anyone else experienced the issue when selecting to view a photo in the gallery it is a fraction of the size of the screen (and no I'm sure I'm not just looking at the thumbnail grid). This wasn't an issue since unboxing. I just noticed it last night. It really bothers me.
I only notice this with pictures taken with the ffc, assumed it was a resolution issue.

When I attach a picture that I took in portrait mode to an SMS it gets turned sideways. In other words, pictures always get attached in landscape mode. Is there any way to change that?

I don't like this either.
The fix is to crop photo, after taking your shot, then delete the original to alleviate any confusion, and after that lengthy process, you can now post to MMS, or Facebook, correctly. I would hope to see an easier fix, but this works for now.

ya what the heck? I just noticed this. I don't recall ever having this problem on my N1... did I just never upload images???
Rotate doesn't even help! One of the nicest things about android is the easy of sharing photos to multiple places QUICKLY from the regular OS apps and this completely defeats the purpose. It's not just SMS it's sending to Facebook and other sharing as well.
HAVE to CROP the picture to get it to upload properly?
Don't recall ever having to do that either... /mad

its an issue with all SGS phones
Only way I've fixed it is to actually crop the picture in the gallery. Then they stand up straight.

Is anyone else experiencing issues while taking photos with their G2x? The image comes out fine (if a little dark) but the image displayed on my screen AS I am seeking the correct angle/position/wandering around is REALLY dark.
If I bump up the brightness, it whitewashes my final picture.
Anyone else seeing this? It's almost as if my sensor is off, somehow.
Mine does the same. Anyway to fix this?

I posted my solution yesterday. Look for that topic.

Hello is anyone else experiencing low res pictures of their contacts when they call? I'm not sure why this is happening but everytime someone calls me who has a facebook their facebook picture shows up but is very blurry and low res. Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks
Same problem here & no idea how to fix it, ugh.

This is an issue with Google not the phone. This is an issue that goes back to every Android phone since day one. It has something to do with when you sync your contacts and Google downgrading the initial picture. There is a fix but it's pretty time consuming. Google it, you'll see it's not just his phone.

Thanks for your reply, the work around is very time consuming I think I'll just suck it up for now.
It has to do with the size that google saves those contact pics at. I have no idea why they decided to shrink them down to such a small size. All of the fixes I have seen in the past are only temporary and simply require too much work. When you flash another rom, you lose the changes you made and are stuck again with those small pics.
Hello.
Dec 2011 - Here are a few camera issues that I've been experiencing with my new SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 Galaxy S II Skyrocket using the provided camera/video app:
Issue #1: Indoor photos.
Photos taken indoors (in "normal" lighting) typically look very dark. If the flash is engaged, the subject often appears with a blue tint.
Issue #2: MP4 playback audio/video issues.
After transferring video captures to my Windows 7 desktop pc (filetype is MP4), the video and audio are out of sync / not in sync / mis-aligned during playback. File size is a mere 30MB. This was true of Quicktime, RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, etc.
Anyone else having a similar experience?
I've had the same issue with the camera my roomate experiences the same issue. I haven't had the issues with the video though. For my camera quick fix I downloaded Camera ZOOM FX yesterday and the picture quality seems much better. Hope that helps, but I'm hoping for a legitimate fix too...

If you are getting the blue photos you have a defective unit. I traded mine in and the new one takes much better pics...no blue tint

Has it been verified that it's a defective unit issue? I ask because I get the blue tint as well. Pictures also seem to come out dark in well lit areas. Alhough, the little widget size image priview it shows in the corner after the picture is taken looks correct, the image itself when viewed anywhere else looks dark.
I'm sure this as been answered 1000 times, but how might one go about restoring apps/data when switching to a new unit? If I make a copy of my rom, can I just flash it to the new unit?
Same issue Here.
When I frame a photo it looks fine, but after the picture is taken it looks dark.
I'll try another camera program like Camera Zoom FX.
I had the blue tint got a replacement and life's good.

I keep getting a message about duo camera lenses being blocked. Does not happen in portrait mood but always in landscape mode it happens while I hold the phone by the very edges. I am inside my house could it be that there is not enough light?

Could there be dust or a fingerprint on one/both of the lenses?
Also if you're using a case, make sure that it isn't covering either lens as well.
No case and I don't see anything on the lens. I guess it's just mine. Contacted HTC and they said it's an app interfering with the camera because when they had me boot the phone into safe mode, the problem does not occur. I don't have anything downloaded that's camera related.

By any chance does that happen when you block the sensor next to the front camera?
Idk why would that matter taking a picture with the rear camera?

The issue has not been happening lately. I didn't change anything. Anyway I didn't really buy the phone for the camera.

If anyone can figure out what app may be interfering, I'd be curious to know as I'm getting this error also. I also don't have any camera apps.
I can cause the message to pop up in auto mode by getting the lens close enough to something where the top lens doesn't see the same thing as the main lens but I'm guessing you weren't very close to anything since you were in landscape mode.

This. I've noticed myself when taking a picture and something is closer to the left side in landscape mode.
The whole reason behind this camera structure is for depth. That is why 1 lens is slightly recessed to the other. Its provides better distinction making it similar to the human eye. Yes, one eye is slightly recessed to the other, allowing this to occur. We are smarter and faster at processing that information better than the phone can, so essentially, if something appears closer to the left lens, it will error out.
Fix, cover both lenses, move camera, uncover.

Duo Camera Blocked
I am also having this issue. My original M8 camera worked fine but I swapped it due to an unrelated issue. Now, whenever I load the camera app, it says "Duo Camera Blocked". Obviously there is nothing in the way and I have no third party camera apps installed. In fact I have the exact same setup as the previous phone which didn't have an issue.
I'm starting to think that this is a hardware issue and will need replacing. Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Yes my friend
Anyone help it ?
I just got my M8 today, played with it for a couple of hours before unlocking the bootloader. Restored titanium backup after unlocking, everything was fine until I opened the camera. I also keep getting the "duo camera blocked" warning, I tried taking pictures for an hour straight but the warning persists and I can't use U-focus or any other duo feature on every picture I take.
I'm on stock ROM and recovery and unrooted. Tried to restoring factory settings, no success. Just updated to the newest firmware (1.54.401.10) via OTA but still no working duo camera.
Should I sent it back for repairs (with relocked bootloader) or has someone found a solution for this problem?
Hey I started the thread, but I can not explain how my issue as just gone away. But I think I stated I don't use the camera that much but have recently been using it without issue. Strange. When in doubt I would just exchange if that's an option for you.

I know this is probably very obvious, but make sure your finger isn't covering the Duo camera at all. I've had that message a couple times and it was due to my finger blocking it. You won't see it on the screen.
I'm definitely not blocking the second camera. I tried taking pictures in portrait and landscape, inside and outside, with every possible grip, there is no dirt or dust on the lenses, it just doesn't work..
I just got on the phone with customer support, they advised me to sent it back for repairs.
After calling I just noticed something that might explain what's wrong with my phone. If I look very closely at the second camera lens, it seems like it's tilted sideways a couple degrees. I attached a photo taken through a mirror (I don't have another camera at the moment). Can someone confirm that it's not supposed to be this way?
Its hard to tell in the pic, but to me it looks like the Duo is aimed slightly up. Try taking the pic a bit farther back from the mirror and without the case. Also I've found it's very sensitive to fingerprints causing slightly blurry photos, and you have one on the main lens. See if you can get a slightly clearer one.
Here's a better picture, taken with another camera. I drew a red square to show how the lens appears to be tilted.
I'm sending the phone back for repairs tomorrow, I hope they don't make a big deal of the bootloader being re-locked.
