I'll be getting the Sensation this-evening and just wanted to check the best way to preserve my data.
Does the below sound ok?
On DHD - Full system/app backup using titanium
Put the SD card from the DHD into the Sensation before initial boot/set-up
Boot Sensation and perform initial set-up
Apply temp-root using method here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15461304
Restore Apps & Data (no Red system items) using Titanium

Just got my Sensation and it is a very solid device; certainly much more solid than the Vibrant in respect to the hardware.
If the hTC is not rooted then how in the world can I restore all my apps that I have backed up via Titanium Backup? If its difficult than waiting until a root for the Sensation might make more sense and I'll keep using the Vibrant.
Thanks!

We have yo wait as we cannot even get temproot. I have all my backups in TB also but what's important to me is to freeze the bloatware..its killing the battery. If you can't wait just use the Vibrant for now till the bootloaderi is ulocked. I'm doing that with my MT4G but using the sensation 90% of the time. It sucks but we just have to wait it out

As I thought but thanks for the advice regardless.
I utilized MyBackup Pro which was installed on my Nexus One (rooted) to make a backup of all of my streaming applications. The .apk files are stored in your SD card under Rerware I believe.
Install the same application on your Sensation and make a test backup of a single application. Just so that it can create the proper folder directories.
You will essentially move the backup data from the SD card on your old phone to your new one and then perform a restore. This should work for most apps. Excluding the ones that need root access.
I saved my TB & system/app to my pc then copied it over to a folder on my Sensation and installed them from there.

Many thanks for this suggested method. Going to try this tonight
I came from the Vibrant also - MyBackup did save all of the apk's and system data to the Rerware folder on the external SD of the Vibrant. I put the SD from the Vibrrant into the Sensation and it did restore all of the apk's - NOT the data as the Sensation does not have root.
The only data I was able to restore was the call logs, sms & mms messages....
I also have a backup made in Titanium Pro, but it will not run on the Sensation without root. I'd love to have a way to even be able to restore saved apk's from Titanium.....
did a nandroid backup on 1-25 then changed firmware and loaded in ics.
yesterday lost sd card and all data. question is there a way to get the data portion of the nandroid backup on the new sd card. cant do a complete backup as this will install gingerbread. so can you strip the data from the old backup. like pics music etc etc
thanks
You can try to do Advanced restore. Then you can choose what you want to restore

What is the best way to backup stuff like the arrangements of your folders (with apps in them) and SMS in Titanium Backup? I new to Titanium so any help would be appreciated!
Best way to do that is a nandroid back up. It's will restore everything to the way it was after a bad flash. But if you don't need to superwipe (ie going from ARHD 6.6.3 to 6.6.4) everything will be preserved neway.
Titanium is for backing up apps and their data really. If you uninstall an app or reinstall it, you can get your data back. Useful for games.

Thanks.
Keep in mind that it doesn't back up your messages. Although there are apps that will.

Yes. Use the app Titanium Backup from the play store. there is a free and paid version. Since the One X does not have an external sd slot I save my back ups to my computer in case my SD gets wiped (happened before using CWM) You can also do a full back up once you enter cwm. Select backup and restore > backup. Hope this helped, but for future references you might want to search a bit to avoid getting flamed.
Hello. I'm on cleanrom but want to flash MIUI. What's the best way to backup as much as possible? I already have titanium, but is there any way to back up my accounts and such?

Titanium backup will backup all apps with data and all your settings and accounts. I would also do a nandroid backup in your recovery and save it to your computer, along with a backup of you sd/internal memory card just in case you get corrupt data.
