I wouldn't have thought so. To get TV out the phone's going to need certain hardware ports which the Nexus S doesn't have. It's not like it's just a software upgrade.
yes, think so, how to make it happen, HDMI?
but nexus S does not have it.
do not think there will be possible to make it

Can you connect nexus s to the tv like vibrant either hdmi or from the 3.5 jack and how about wii mote will it work

Hdmi out? No. Tv out via 3.5? Possibly, might want to try to ask some sites that already have the phone. Someone said wiimote will work since it has 2.1 bluetooth.

its best to ask a site with the NS to test the vibrants hdmi out cable and see if it will work i have not seen any info about that outside of it not having an hdmi connector on-board

I doubt it with the initial release. It's possible if they release a rev 2 version, but right now there is no type of hdmi out on the phone from watching the videos and looking at the pictures.
How about DLNA?
Hey,
any progress in this? I would like to buy Nexus S, but HDMI is a wanted feature. Have anyone tried that Samsung HDMI-microUSB cable?
Cheers Jakoob

I've been reading A LOT about the Nexus S these past few weeks. Never seen anything saying this is possible...
Don't know if it's possible. However if you have a Samsung smart TV hooking up to your home network and the internet, install the app called SwipeIt on both the TV and your phone, you can "swipe" your phone screen to the TV. This is for all Android phones not just the NS.

Yeah my friend got me jelous of his s2 that have tv out capabilities. He also gave me a free hdmi cable to test it out and im disapointed knowing that nexus s don't have tv out capabilities. I hope someone will port the mod for us or it is not even possible because we are lacking of hardware requirements?

can someone tell me if there are 2 loud speakers at the bottom of the nexus 5? I have played music through them and when i block the one on the left then the music is muted, no sound comes from the one on the right. Is it just my phone?
cheers
One of the openings is a microphone, there's only one speaker.

I haven't owned a Nexus 4 so can't comment... it's not bad, but after been using the S4 it's certainly not as good, though that's understandable.

Voulme reduced due to Water Spilled
Hi guys
my phone speaker volume got reduced due to water spilled over it ..
I'm disappointed there's no IR sensor on our phone, cause I could really use it for my TV not having a remote. I don't want a universal remote either. Is there any IR sensor I could buy and attach thru the charger port or connect to my USB OTG? And just like port the Galaxy S4 WatchON app to my phone?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You knew the phone didn't have one when you bought it. If it was that big of a deal why did you get it? Also good dude. I Googled headphone jack ir blaster for android and got several thousand results.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
So, you'd rather have an IR blaster sticking out of the top of your phone, than buy a universal remote? You could probably find a factory replacement for your TV.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Wow, you two for so helpful!!! If you weren't going to offer up solutions, why respond to the thread? And "I found several thousand results"...how about you link one?
Anyway OP...check this one out. www.irdroid.com
uhh they did offer solutions... 1. use google! 2. buy a remote instead.... i'll even give you a 3rd one... get an htc one, perhaps a play edition if you like vanillla android.

Are you dense Sparky? I did offer a solution. Op said he didn't want a universal remote. I was letting him/her know they could probably easily buy a factory replacement. Learn to read Slick.

Sparky? Slick? Oh aren't you clever. He asked specifically for something for his phone.
Don't watch TV as it is mind numbing

Sure am. I gave my suggestion. Sorry it wasn't up to your standards. You don't like it then move on. No need to call anyone out. Especially when they're actually trying to help.

Sorry guys I didn't mean to cause all this. I didn't know what to Google. I looked up add on ir for android and it didn't really help. And I didn't know it didn't have one when I bought it.

Why do they get it and we don't? This is so frustrating.
Nor does the S5... Or the Z2... Or the Find 7...
I think the question we should be asking is why did every other manufacturer decline the functionality?
My guess is that it either isn't too great with battery or the keyword HAS to be "Hello Snapdragon" which didn't fly with them.

You're right! I wasn't aware the GS5 had that. Indeed they're most likely using the chipset feature.
But this raises another question, why didn't one plus customize their keyword? "Hello Snapdragon" is kind of a mouthful. I guess it doesn't really matter.
I can't help but wonder if this functionality can be hacked in. I'd think it would be easier on a AOSP based ROM.

The functionality we're talking about is when the screen is off too.

There is an app that does this but it's a battery killer I think. I do wish m8 had always listening on though.
I'm sure the NSA would love for more people to have that feature
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Tapatalk
why would anyone want their phone to be listening all the time? I agree with the above.....NSA would love it

The core is low power in order to transmit that information it would need to cause a wake lock which could easily be blocked. I would be more concerned with backdoors that are in the closed source radio blobs
