Flash video and wifi channels 12-13 fixable? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Are these two issues fixable by the devs or is it only fixable by Asus (Or Adobe with regard Flash)? I am in two minds about returning my TF to try and get a refund as it's not performing as advertised. I let the HDMI out not working with my Panasonic HDTV slide but in general the video playback aspect has been a huge letdown. Juddery playback with audio (smooth as butter without for some reason) and now no Flash video acceleration as well as not seeing wifi channels 12 and 13 in the UK (which some public wifi spots use).
It's one problem after another. I need to know if these issues are at least on the agenda. The longer I have it the harder it will be to try and get a refund.

+1 for the wifi 12 and 13 channels... no luck to connect to wifis which use those channels. Hope someone has a solution for it.
Sincerely,
Ascenca

Videoplayback works completely fine for me.
Videcalls never were and probably never will be supported in Android.

About the Video playback, I haven't had any problems at all. Maybe try freeing up the Ram?
Video calls are not supported by Android, but if you want to try it out you can use Tango (iOS, Android) or Skype

i really want to buy this device....but i think they need to drop the price a little
but what i am really worried about is everyone is obsessed with the upcoming dual-core phones & i am afraid we wont get a community as good as for the htc desire
what do you think guys? will the desire S get a good community ?
(& also can you guys tell me if there is any restarting issue or wifi issue?)

I can't comment on the community (as I can't see the future), but as I've got the phone now I really hope that one forms!
I also share your community concern, but hope that not everyone is obsessed with these larger tablet sized phones. (DHD etc...)
I've not had a single restart and the I've had the phone for over a week.
But, the wifi drop problem is real, I don't use the phone in landscape myself so its not that bad, but, I've seen the wifi signal strength fall when I place the phone on my leg when connected to wifi. I only use wifi on the phone when in my house where the signal strength is very good, so the drop doesn't ever cause me to fall off network. (read the tech radar review conclusion).
Battery life is ok even with multiple widgets and email accounts syncing all day and fair internet usage. currently getting about 20hrs...from full charge.
Still a great phone.

I got my Desire S yesterday for $400. It feels and runs smooth. It's a little small like a wildfire(I have an SGS i9000,Nexus One,Galaxy Spica i5700 and LG Optimus One). Good thing the N1 has almost the exact same screen so I used that as a screen guard. Battery isnt that great. My N1 and Galaxy S lasts for almost three days on normal to heavy use. Im happy with it.
where did you buy it from?
My friend got it for me in Singapore. I sold it. Screen too small and the camera wasn't that good. Got an LG Optimus Black now.

[Q] YouTube HD playback problem

Hi guys, i just got my transformer and I love it but I have a little problem, HD videos in youtube app stutters!! t is not a connection problem, on my computer they play perfect, and anyway I let it load it the whole video to avoid connection problems.
The video still stutters, sometimes it plays full framerate, but the second after it is jerky!!
Anyone have the same problem?
Should I return it?
MP4 720p in video player just play fine...
PS: I also noticed i have some LCD backlight bleed problem... awwww man...
If hd flash is important it might not be the best solution.
Could wait and hope for a fix, but the tablet market is moving fast, always a risk companies will move on to the next gen product.
So far Tegra 2 + honeycomb seems not ideal, after all the hype?

Flash is not involved here, I am speaking of the official youtube app which should have no stuttering.

Not got that problem. Does it still stutter for you via the browser as well?
Mine used to pause a few times when watching videos in the Youtube app but this appears to have been fixed with the latest firmware update.

No yputube app does not use flash, in fact i uninstalled FlashPlayer from tablet to be sure of that.
I have the same issue. Coming from a Xoom I noticed it almost immediately. If there is stock soon, I will go to the store and have it replaced. Otherwise I might just return it. There are things I can deal with, stuttering video is not one of them.
Better to wait for Tegra 3 devices in August ?
http://www.geek.com/articles/chips/...e-tegra-3-chip-in-tablets-by-august-20110216/
Or 4 more months after that, until 2012 and get something better! or keep waiting until 2014 and get the best one in their roadmap!

Actually once it can do 1080p high profile, I could care less what is coming out since it would be the complete package. A Tegra 3 device seems like it could be the one. Definitely selling my Transformer and getting a Tegra 3 tablet when it comes out.
I think the problem is related to the youtube app, i had a trip to a local store with an Iconia A500 and played with it a bit. It had the same problem, i doubt a replacement would do the trick. i suppose an OTA update with a revised version of the youtube app or some tweak should be enough.

If thats the case then I don't mind at all, but it's something that I'd like to know *officially*. It's not something that has to be fixed immediately, but I'd like to know that the issue lies with the app and not my hardware.
Edit: But, at the same time, I didn't think many other people were having the same issue.. ?
stuttering playback was an initially known issue with honeycomb. Like someone else mentioned though, the firmware seemed to resolve that issue. Might want to make sure you have the latest and greatest version.

ya mines the US version of the 20110423.. first thing I checked.
It just crummy because my buddy loved my Xoom, especially the Youtube app (hes got a relatively large presence on youtube) and when he went to watch one of his videos (G20 Battle of Toronto) it was stuttering. It's like it will be smooth for a few seconds then get choppy . The audio never skips a beat though.
Just noticed a flash update on the market. Don't know if it'll help you or not. Looks like its now out of beta or something. I didnt really read it all before i installed it. Version 10.2.156.12.
Edit: Bah the irony. Now I'm getting the stuttery video. I wasnt before.

I know i read somewhere that asus was working with google on it. Maybe they still havent completely ironed it out yet. Remember, its still early for honeycomb...

can't watch videos on viki.com

Hey guys,
I usually use my asus transformer to watch kdramas on websites such as viki.com and mysoju.com but for some reason it doesn't work anymore. Where the video is suppose to be there is now a big black box. I also tried it on my phone (epic 4g touch) and I get a "get flash player" icon. One of the primary reasons I purchased the tablet was to watch videos while I'm lounging around the house or in bed however if I can't even do that what use is this tablet? I hope there's some way to work around this. So if anyone can point me towards a workaround I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Jelly Bean Bluetooth freeze/crash

Anyone having similar problems with bluetooth audio streaming on Tab 7.7 with new JB firmware please, post your device names to this thread.
I will post any future updates from Samsung here as well
Original post:
Major disappointment after using Bluetooth A2DP with Samsung HS3000 headset(apt-x compatible).
Tested with stock music player, google music and poweramp. After playing for a few minutes, tab starts to slow down, then player might freeze, tab settings freeze, reboot into the eternal samsung logo. Only way out long press on power.
ICS was pretty bad, but at least it played for 20-30 minutes before going kaboom ...
Please, post your experiences with Bluetooth audio streaming.
i'm using Jabra clipper and Jabra stone... havent had any of those problem you mention... yet...

I use a Jawbone Era and Jambox and have not had these problems.
All headsets listed above do not support apt-x.
Maybe this is the key to this problem.
Anyone with apt-x capable headset or speakers?

hi, actually it should support apt-x. Same prob here it is awful. A fix would be fantastic.
I used nokia bh 505 - played music for 4hrs, no glitch whatsoever
Mine syncs fine with older aftermarket car stereo, Jawbox Jambox and also a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard with none of these issues.
Now, it does reboot occasionally a different times but that's another story...
another prob
Hi guys, thanks for your answers. But I think the problem is more an apt x Codecs problem and less a bluetooth problem.

Over 5 weeks passed.
No updates. I still can not use 2 Samsung products which supposed to work with each other.
BT drivers are compiled in the kernel. I just wonder if there is an option (to enable) for further device support within the .config prior to compile.
Will take a look in approx 3 weeks time. Please remember to PM (remind) me before then and see if anything can be done.
Edit: please PM me anyway, because IF something can be done, you will be required to flash a custom kernel, and if you don't want that, let me know so I don't waste my time
Cheers,
UITA

mirroring s7 screen with netflix

I have a s7 which I use screen mirror to show my phone on my Samsung smart tv. (For reference before you ask tv has no Internet and phones got unlimited data) I mirror my screen with you tube and other video services, two weekends ago I mirrored netflix and watch 2 movies. This weekend when I connect with netflix running it just connects and then disconnects. If I connect then open netflix, as soon as it opens the screen goes black and disconnects. I tried netflix support and they was unhelpful. I also connected my TV and downloaded a firmware update, thinking that was a issue. Phones up to date and all involved devices are up to date.
I wonder about copyright issues with digital media, can't mirror to second screen for recording. I asked netflix, of course he said no. However I don't think he understood what I was asking. Props to him for doing his job, however I needed someone with knowledge of their software.
I also just tried it from my asus tablet and same issue. So multiple devices and same issue, comon item is the tv. I performed a factory reset on my TV and no resolve and updated firmware version.
Like I said before it worked 2 weeks ago, now it doesn't. However youtube, fullscrean, directv, and Hulu all work just fine.
Any suggestions?
Same problem here. I found your post because I am trying to resolve. It seems to be a problem with Netflix, since it's the only app that forces the screen mirroring to close. I hope someone has an answer soon. I just got really hooked on watching Netflix again since we've been able to download their shows and watch later. I don't have internet at home, but can download over wifi at work. Come on, guys! Help us out.

I know I'm on a trial of netflix, however I don't see a use in keeping it... a 5in screen if I can't share to my 70in. Phones to small and tablet isn't much better.
Any one got a idea, come on people need assistance here...
My netflix works fine streaming from both my S7 and my HTC 10, difference is it's a Panasonic Tv. Samsung TV's are a PITA i've found and I struggled to screen cast to two different Samsung TV's with my S7.
Not what you want to hear i'm sure.
I understand what your saying but how come all works until Netflix is open. Once the loading N appears it disconnects and won't reconnect until I close the Netflix app. I will make a video of it tomorrow. I'll also try to track down someone with a smart TV to try theirs.
Same problem here..any info would be greatly appreciated...Hulu direct tv everything else works fine except for netflix..some days it will work most days no luck..my tv is a sharp roku tv and it worked fine until late recently

I understand what he's saying about a Samsung TV, but you got a sharp. Also it's multiple devices and only one single app that's common having the issue. Directv, vudu and full screen works fine, so does youtube.
the cheap is you buy some cheap wireless router and sync with your samsung s7 or make wifi hotspot from your samsung s7 and then connect your smart tv. but remember maybe when you share screen this share send data to samsung and all share that you see it can see samsung too. yestarday i share samsung s7 with my smart tv and when i block the smart tv program it didnt work, so maybe it when you unblock the screen sharing it send all what you see with samsung, and man be carefull becouse when you netflix screen share maybe it record what you screen share, this too do it teamviewer, you screen share with teamviewer but after that teamviewer can see all what you had screen share, and if you ask teamviewer to stop record your screenshare they will lie like obama.

What about sharing from my Asus tablet, also tv doesn't have Internet. Only the Asus and s7, they connect to the TV via direct WiFi connection.
if your tablet support make wifi virtual router then it will work. im glad that your tc donr have internet becouse you pay much money and they spy on peoples and i kust remember if you have laptop then it too can make virtual router, you need to see in windows and in linux.

Haha brain fart.... I totalled missed the pita... I got it...
Just a thought but is it looking for your TV & phone to be connected to the same WiFi network (through a router) rather than using WiFi Direct? Just a distinction I found when pairing my account with an app eg. Waukitv.
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Unless the hardware is relying on it, I don't think so. The only Netflix setting is a selection of internet speed. The purpose of Wi-Fi direct is a private direct connection. Also just got the Android N update and still no difference... Also wow it changed the looks of my phone. Especially the settings window.
I am having the same exact problem. I have a pretty for signal 4G 2 bars, but I still can watch other things using screen mirroring...just not netflix...which is the only one I really wanted to watch. Any luck at all, anyone?

I really hope they have an answer for you. I called the general line on Sunday...got pushed to Verizon...then to Samsung...they all say it is the other ones problem....I am betting on Netflix. Keep us in the loop.
I called Netflix and didn't stop pushing until I made it to a engineer, the only screen mirror software they support is second screen and google cast. Other may work but are found to be unstable and unreliable. I will follow up once I've had a chance to test with my results.
