I currently use the thumb keyboard, and this is a potential problem that i could bring up with their developers. But currently the problem i have is when using the tablet(undocked) i use thumb keyboard, when i then dock the tablet the input method is still set to thumb, the dock and everything works except it is in a US layout, annoyingly " and @ are swapped. To fix this everytime i have to click the keyboard icon in the notification bar and select asus english uk keyboard.
Anybody know of an app in development to automatically switch this, and back again when undocked.
Or does anybody know the code to detect docking and undocking? and i could try write something.
Cheers

I think at this stage you'll have to change it manually, I'm not aware of anything such as an app that can change it automatically based the whether the dock is connected.

Issue:
I use a BT keyboard and Evernote for taking notes in my lectures. Everything works fine but the on screen keyboard pops up whenever I tap on a word to edit it or add more notes in between.
I want to know if it's possible to make an app that will disable the on screen keyboard from popping up when I'm using a my BT keyboard.
I'm using Cyanogen 6.1 RC1.

Possible? Yes, absolutely.
Does using a BT keyboard require you to select a specific input method? If not, a makeshift way to do it would be to download one of the Miimote apps and select that as your input method, rather than "Android Keyboard" or whatever.
If not, I'm sure someone has or can make an "invisible keyboard" to set as your input method.
Dude I think that will solve my issue. I'll test it out later but I think you hit the nail on the head. I appreciate it.
By the way you don't need to choose an input method with CM6 and Apple keyboard.

Recently I purchased the thumb keyboard app and have been using it but whenever I dock my keyboard my tablet freezes unless I manually go into settings and change the keyboard to the asus keyboard even though the input method is set to automatic. Is anyone else having this problem?
nevermind, fixed it!

How?
Never had this problem. Just wondering what you did wrong in the first place.
So I just purchased a keyboard folio case. It works wonderfully but for the life of me I can't figure out how to remove the onscreen keyboard. I have absolutely no need for it and it takes up over half the screen when I'm typing.
I have searched all over the forums and I've googled it. I can't seem to find it anywhere.
I'm running the latest ICS Kang Nightly. I noticed that the EOS rom doesn't have this option either.
Does the stock ICS version have this?
Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
It's in Honeycomb and ICS (and the phone versions of Android too, I assume). If you're using a bluetooth (or USB) keyboard, then the on-screen keyboard should no be displayed until you disconnect. I use the Motorola bluetooth keyboard, there is no on-screen keyboard for me unless I disconnect.
How strange. This doesn't work for me. I swear. As soon as I start typing in a text field the regular onscreen keyboard pops up.
Are you using stock ICS?
I did find a temporary solution after doing some more investigation. I searched the market for some keyboard apps to see if there were any out there that perhaps gave you the option.
I ended up finding an app called null keyboard and this seems to do the trick. I basically select it in the Language and Input menu in the Android settings and it disables the on screen keyboard for you while maintaining the ability to use a physical keyboard.
While this does work pretty well, it would be nice to get the stock keyboard to be able to do this so I wouldn't need to switch back and forth.
On my Xoom (stock Wi-Fi ics), when using a Bluetooth keyboard, I can select the keyboard icon in the status bar that displays when selecting a text field and toggle physical keyboard on/off on top of the list of keyboards that shows.

Any way to disable the samsung keyboard using...
I also Purchased the Zagg Folio keyboard for my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 GT-N5110 android 4.2.2 and tried most of those apps like null keyboard and the like to no avail, so I was wondering if there is a method for rooted devices with programs like Xposed Framework to disable Samsung keyboard. thank you

You do realize you've posted to a thread for the Motorola Xoom, not a Samsung device, and the last post before yours was two years ago?
I'd suggest posting in the forum for your device.
Seems to be an odd / random occurrence but if you type a few letters maybe 4-5 and then try to delete everything, it won't let you (with keyboard dock haven't tried a 'soft' app yet).
Also noticed in a few apps that paste is broken in certain text fields.
Anyone else having these issues and know a fix?

I've run into the paste thing myself. Not the backspace yet, although I've seen at least 2 other threads with it being mentioned,.
I've run into the backspace not working when trying to correct input in a field on a web site.

If this fix your issue make sure you hit "thanks"!! just kidding. I found a work around may work for you guys. Just change your default keyboard to Android instead of Asus. Let me know if it works for you.
I ran into all kinds of oddities like that before the Jelly Bean update. What app are you using that you're noticing the Backspace problem OP?
Most of my problems were always with Chrome before JB update. The search box after the initial search in Google would become inactive, times I couldn't clear it with Backspace nor highlight.

Worked for me - thanks! Do you lose any functionality switching like this? The function keys all seem to still work.

I had same problem after update to JB . I have chanced keyboard for android one but now key layout is changed a bit. "@" is now under "2" key instead of " ' " key. there was couple more changes that I now have to remember when using my dock.

@ under 2 is the International US Layout.
@ under ' is the UK Layout.
Just go to settings --> input and language and change the keyboard language from English (US) to English (UK).
I have both of these problems. when I change my keyboard from asus English to Android English, it just prompts me to returm it to Asus keyboard to maintain hardware consistency. nothing seems to work! As an aside, running stock, no root..... wah-wah!

i do have Android English (UK) and for some reason some keys are swapped like "@". when choose ASUS UK its all ok but have backspace problem
I'm using Android keyboard with US version and I don't have the problem you having. Maybe it's time to try factory reset! some thing is not right with yours.

I did perform a factory reset and still have the same issue and it's random and seemingly was in every app (last time I saw it it was inside of stock Browser).
However, I did switch to Android keyboard from ASUS (there was a working that this work cause issues) and I'm no longer having the problem. Viable work around indeed! thanks guys!

The backspace key issue (and others) seem to be tied to any text input which does not completely constrain the cursor. To check cursor constraint, simply put carrat focus inside a text field and then press home or end from a physical USB/bluetooth keyboard or by using the FN key on the dock. If focus stays in the text box then you should experience no keyboard issues. If, however, the current page jumps to the top or bottom them you will see random loss of the backspace key as well as a few other annoying things. For example... in a non-constrained textbox the delete key on a USB keyboard will not work but shift-backspace on the dock will. Go figure. Setting input to the Android keyboard only corrects some of these issues. Please file a bug report with ASUS using your VIP memeber account if you have one as this requires a patch from them in order to correct.
Ok, I cannot find anything related to my problem, and I CAN`T be the only one with this.
First things first: My name is Lane, long time lurker, first time poster. I have a P-3113 GTab2 7", stock rooted JB 4.1.2, and a IVSO bluetooth keyboard case. Over the last week, I've been trying to find a way to hide the soft keyboard while using the BT keyboard. I started with "Null Keyboard", but all it did was get rid of the keyboard entirely. I still like using the soft keyboard when I need it in a pinch. I don't like having to switch manually. Then I found AnySoftKeyboard, which i freakin' love.
But now i have a problem.
When the default keyboard is set to AnySoft (or any other keyboard for that matter), i can use it and its wonderful features for a total of 5-10 minutes before Android complains and throws up an error message, then switches the default keyboard back to Samsung... I even caught a screenshot of the error just now. You can see AnySoftKeyboard in the screenshot behind the message, but then it switches to the Samsung keyboard.

It is an error i might recognize.. Does it happen with ny other keyboard too??like swift key or ny other that stock??
If you get prob just in AnySoft then its the problem in programming made by the app developer,
if other keyboards crash too then i guess its the problem in your rom.. Did you flash ny thing on your current rom??
Also,
Try using WIFI keyboard if you want no keyboard display while typing from external keyboards via usb
ROM is stock JB, just rooted. Nothing else flashed. This happens with other keyboards, too, like SlideIt, Null, and AnySoft.
As far as I know, this only happens when I have my bluetooth keyboard connected.
It is really not that hard to switch input methods between a BT keyboard and an onscreen keyboard, no app is needed to easily go back and forth between those two. There should be a notification that shows up to easily switch input methods when a text box is tapped.
It looks like the second line says "change BT input method to stock Samsung keyboard", if that's any help.
Attached is the said notification.

No, only when an alternate KB is set as default.
