Hi,
I hope you can help.
I recently changed the ROM on my HTC to the VillainROM12.0 . This worked fine. However, since the rom change, the phone itself has since been stuck in safe mode. I have tried everything to get out of it, by holding down the menu and power keys on boot up, taking out the battery and leaving it out. I then changed the ROM to HeroDroid 07, this rom loaded fine, but the phone is still stuck in safe mode. I managed to get the phone out of safe mode once, but on re-boot it's gone back in again. The phone is a UK Orange issue Hero and was working fine before the ROM change, as far as I can tell all the buttons are working. I have also re-flashed the phone with the ROM several times, but it's still the same.
I called Orange, and they said, "they detected a fault" and gave me a code to report to HTC, the code is FW229 - how they can detect a fault, I don't know. I have the option to send it back to HTC for repair or Pay £15.00 to have another Hero delivered.
Do you think this is a genuine fault with the phone, or is it something to do with the Rom change and how to get out of safe mode? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hi, I Have the Same problem with my Hero.
- All roms i found here are starting in safe mode only.
- All roms with android 1.5 are starting normal without safe mode
Maybe a rom developer can help us to turn off the "safe mode" feature.
I rolled back to the 1.5 HTC Orange Rom from the HTC site and yes, safe mode is off. As soon as I tried to update to 2.1 again, back in to safe mode. I did not unlock the phone before the update, so am wordering if this is why? However, it's the same with the Sim out, so I have no idea why it does this. I am wordering if this problem is only with orange issue phones?
Any ideas would be great.
How have you managed to get the phone out of safe mode?
I managed to get the phone out once, by holding down all the buttons on boot, but when I re-booted the phone after, it went back to safe mode and I have not managed to get it out of safe mode since. I downgraded to 1.5 and it did not show safe mode, but soon as any 2.1 rom is installed, it goes back to being in safe mode. Holding down the menu and power keys should either take it out or put it in safe mode on boot, but does nothing when 2.1 is installed, all I get is safe mode.
Any ideas anyone?
Can an admin please move this thread in the HTC Hero: G2 Touch section?
I think there we would get more help
Heron HTC stuck in safe mode
I spent two days trying to get "Safe Mode" off my Hero HTC after upgrading the ROM to version 2.1. I called my provider and even HTC but no help from either. I found an obscure posting that said to power on the phone while holding down the track ball and that did it. There are also other power on options: hold volume button up or down, hold menu down, hold menu + back...but for me, none of these helped...only the track ball.

I am a newbie and have a used Gtab running TnT-lite with Tap Ul ver. 1.01 2967. I would like to get in safe mode so my wifi gets to work better. Safe mode appears on the bottom left corner of the launcher screen when enabled. I did it some way but can't remember what I did. Thanks for your help.
Hey all i am really new to this and run into a major problem. I rooted my phone with superoneclick and installed a ROM from SGS tools for my samsung captivate. When it would enter into the recovery screen it would not show the usual options but instead a screen of what looked like a pixelated mess. Once the phone started i went to restore to factory settings and now when the phone starts up I see the AT&T logo then it goes to a black screen where it stays there forever. Did i manage to screw up my phone? any help is greatly appreciated.
ok, I finally turned the phone off and left it overnight. The phone does start and work like it should. The only thing is that once you try to go to the recovery mode and the phone does its thing, I am brought to a screen that is half snowy (like the television when you dont get a certain channel) and the other half with lines of red, green, and blue. From here I cannot tell what is going on when I use the volume key to go up or down. Then with a double click of the power button the phone just restarts normally.
Ok. So i have completely screwed up my phone. I have rooted my phone and installed a few different ROMs on it. I have clockwork recovery installed on my phone and I was using it to clear my data to install a new ROM. I cleared my /system and then did a "reset data/factory reset" and I believe the factory reset is what messed everything up. Now when I boot up my phone it shows "Google" and has a little progress bar that gets to 100% and does nothing after that. My phone will show up on my computer as an ADB device but nothing more. When I boot into my bootloader, it freezes up completely. The volume keys and power button don't do anything.
I have clockwork mod installed but I can not get into it. My last ROM installed was Slim ICS from slimroms[DOT]com (I can't post links yet ) I'm not sure if that is needed but I thought I might throw that in.
Any help would be much appreciated. I am without a phone right now because of my toying around with it.
EDIT: I have solved my issue. I just came back to tell what I did in case someone else hits this problem. Every time I took the battery out and put it back in, my phone would instantly turn on. After about a million times of taking my battery and putting it back in, I noticed that every so often it wouldn't boot up (either because I put the battery in weird and readjusted it or left the battery out for a long time). Whenever my phone would not boot up on its own and I booted into the bootloader, everything would work great. Once I realized this, I left my battery out for about half an hour, put it back in, and everything worked out great. I installed a new ROM and my phone is back to the way it was.
Ok. So 14 days ago my wife and I both got S6's for Verizon from a local big box store. (yes, 14. Today is the last day I have to take it back.)
We took the OTA to OE2 and I was able to root both phones with PingPong. Everything was fine until yesterday. Her phone wasn't responding when a call was coming in, so she restarted it by holding in the power button. Now, when it boots up it goes to a black screen after showing the initial "Samsung Galaxy S6" screen. Nothing changes. There is a teal/blue pulsing LED that doesn't go away.
I can enter the recovery and wipe cache, factory reset, safemode, etc. I've tried all of those many times. I can enter download mode and use Odin 3.10.6 to reflash OE2 and it says "Pass". After rebooting, it goes to the "Android is upgrading" dialog and goes through and updates about 248 apps, and then changes to read "Starting apps." It won't go past that screen. I left it on that from 10pm last night until 6am this morning with no change. The battery eventually went dead (from 100%). I've tried Odin many times, and it passes every time.
What are my options? When booting, the padlock is unlocked and says "Custom". I'd really like to get rid of that so I can return it to today without problems. When in Download mode, the system status says "custom".
Please help!!
I've also tried using SmartSwitch on the PC, and it doesn't detect the phone.
Update: I'm trying an Emergency Recovery with Smart Switch. It's at 52% right now. I got a serial number from another S6 so it would allow the download/recovery process to start. It's kind of ridiculous you can't get the serial number for your device from anywhere but the settings page on the phone. (Note: not the IMEI, the actual SN). It's not on the box or back of the phone.
Ok, another update. Emergency Recovery didn't work. It finished, and said that it was successful, but didn't fix the issue.
I took the phone back to the place of purchase and they tried about everything that I had already tried. They ended up just replacing the phone. They said that they never saw this issue before.
I have almost an identical issue except I have not roOted or installed any custom ROMs everything is stock . The fingerprint scanner quit working today and said it required a restart, when I restarted the phone I'm experiencing exactly what you are a black screen and a blue pulsing light. In the stock recovery screen I've tried booting to safe mode USB debugging everything except the factory restore yet I think that is my last resort.
