don't mind waiting for the quad cores, but when will one be released on verizon? seems like verizon lags behind others in pushing out top tier phones. currently, the tbolt is the top draw and it's only single core. i'd rather keep my droid inc for now.

Someone help me decide! I currently have a MyTouch 4G and am a phone dork. I go through phones fast. Right now, I'm torn between the Motorola Defy or the Nexus S (obviously waiting). On the one hand, the Defy is "life-proof". Not that I plan on doing too much with it, but it would be nice to know some rain, keys or a small drop wouldn't hurt it, etc. It is also very compact. On the downside, it is only 800MHz and has 2.1 and Motoblur. Then there is a Nexus S. It is probably going to feel cheap like the Galaxy and will be fragile but it will have Gingerbread AND the best processor. There aren't even any cases on the market that would even remotely help with water resistance. Ideas?
These aren't really comperable. Nexus s is a no brainer.

I will be buying the atrix off contract at release been saving my pennies for a while and now I have something to want.
Atrix seems great, but it could take a while to root. Every carrier and manufacturer has their problems IMO.
The Atrix does seem good, but i want to see a nice HTC device on AT&T. I've heard we might be getting the Desire HD.

as much as the captivate sucks. we are still like the nexus s which means we might get a fully working cm7 sense the software is so bad.

I love every htc ive had, just the inspire, spec wise doesn't seem to be much better then mine now. Think I prefer hummingbird with it's gaming support over snapdragon. At least moto seems to be stepping its game up. But I am also worried about locked boot loader. Wish htc would come out with a similar device. Agreed.
I would give it a few months to see if the Atrix has any issues and how easy it is to root/put custom roms on.
I mean look at the Captivate, aside from some phones having GPS problems and small issues it really is a great phone.
And if ya look at the Atrix, hell the CPU might just break once maximized to the full potential. You NEVER know!

I can guarantee that the Rep doesn't have access to that information. At&t gives reps very limited info on future releases. Besides they're always testing new devices and they're deffinitely keeping an eye on the competition. With that said, if a manufacturer plans on launching a device that Att wants they will do everything they can to add it to their lineup.

Why is AT&T rolling out so many 4g units? Isn't their 4g network still about two years away? If so, these units will be obsolete before you can take full advantage of their capabilities.
I have the HD2 right now. Is the Sensation worth the upgrade? There is obviously not the HUGE dev community behind the Sensation in comparison to the HD2...
Easily worth the upgrade due to the much, much newer architecture. Even locked it has *AWESOME* written all over it.
There's no development on Sensation right now, as the means to unlock it has yet to be released.
This is (along with the Evo3D) HTC's new flagship, so it's bound to have proper development in time.

I would suggest you go for the Samsung galaxy s2 unless you are a die hard htc fan
I had a hero and HD7 and thought I d jump ship and see how samsung phones work
Quiet happy , won't say its all goody but you can easily update to new firmware without the need to root via a software called ODIN
Already on 2.3.4 and never been happy..
Also I think the camera is slightly better than sensation
Just my thoughts
If possible go in a store and play with them both, you may get a bit of any idea of which one you fall in love with

TMobile USA doesn't have the S II yet unfortunately, and to be honest, I'm not sure if they're even getting it. I could get it off NewEgg or eBay but from what I hear, all I will get is Edge, not 4G.

I don't have HD2 or owned one, so i don't know if it's big upgrade. Maybe someone else can answer that. But the Sensation and the EVO3D are the 2 new flagships of HTC. So there is a good chance there will be a huge community, and a lot of roms and other stuff for both of them.

Im not sure about the GSII but everyone knows about the Hercules. It might have a 4,5 inch display and a different chipset but nobody is really sure yet. Its actually rumored to have the Adreno 220 which will probably be a lot faster than it is on the Sensation due to the ****ty HTC drivers and not having a UI with useless eye candy.

Maybe so, but it all depends on how u use the phone. If all the apps and games are still running good, why upgrade. That would be my thought. It's all personal.
But if you want to upgrade, because you want to download stuff a second faster or load apps/games a second faster, or whatever reason, this phone will be a nice upgrade.

Yeah, I mean the HD2 supports 7 meg HSDPA, but I usually get about 2...The thing that attracts me, is the better camera, and dual core CPU.
I was using an Android flashed HD2 up until I dropped it last week and shattered the screen. I had ordered a new digitizer from fleabay but when it arrived it was damaged so I got impatient and ordered a new Sensation instead. I just got it today and, even though I was more than happy with the HD2 and had no plans to upgrade, I have to say I'm very glad I did. The HD2 was is a very awesome phone but after using the Sensation it now feels like it was v rough around the edges. The Sensation is silky smooth - and that's while we're still running on stock!!
I say upgrade. You'll not regret it.

Thanks for the input. And with TMobile planning to upgrade nationwide network speeds, maybe it's not a bad idea. Part of me still wants to wait to see if I can get the Galaxy S II...

I've gone from HD2 > Sensation. Got the HD2 as soon as it came out.
The Sensation is fantastic...a huge leap from the HD2...obviously much faster/slicker...much nice to look at and hold, screen is so much better than the HD2 it's not funny.
Development will come soon

Neither, both are really good and quick. Both have Fast dual cores, and large screens too, Evo has qHD so things will look better on the screen. Personally I would take the Evo instead, since I like HTC more and I prefer the ability to use Sense...If you take the LG, you can't install Sense, which I feel looks much better and it has many widgets that I prefer to use. Plus it has the best social integration compared to stock, and other phone ui's.

ICS will be Android 4.0, it will unite Tabs and phones, to help fragmentation, it's google's next iteration of the OS. I said you should wait since it will be out soon, and so will 2nd Gen Dual-Cores and phones with 720P Res, and large screens with very tiny bezels, due to the removal of hardware buttons. Sammy has phones coming this year in the next few months with 4.5+ screens, imagine what other companies could have too.
Ohh i see !
Like the Galaxy S II ?
i have the g2x and it is a really good phone now.. i also would at this time wait if you can for ice cream sandwich to come out and or wait and see the new samsung note phone or sgs2 phone as i think they will be better. however i really do love my phone now. since they released the 2.3.3 update
Okay, I'll wait =) !

Would you still pick up the One S with the dual core, and smaller lower res screen?
What provider will receive the One XL?
my guess is the XL will go to ATT and i dont think the One S will by pegged as the G4x. The HTC One line of phone will be a flagship so it wouldnt make sense to change the name of a flagship phone on initial release
The One S isnt that different from the Amaze 4G and is still a better choice with a bigger battery and sd card slot
The same goes for the SGSII and the SGSII Blaze
Now if the LG G4x comes to T-Mobile, then that phone is definitely worth considering even thou LG/nVidia dont have a good developer reputation

Definitely, just like this phone, it came as crap but the dev's on XDA fixed it all up.
I think I will still pick one up. I might actually stalk the forums before I do though.

What really impressed me with the One series phones was the video/picture capabilities. And now that HTC is helping out the dev community with offering a way to unlock the bootloaders and releasing their source code so devs can work their magic with less headache. So looks like HTC will be my next choice when my upgrade is available. I mean why wouldn't the dev be strong for their devices?! It was a great decision for HTC to support dev, this will only increase sells of their phones! They understand we nerds! Lol

No, bootloader was open on the G2x. That's why it was so easy to flash CWM, NVFlash took like 2 minutes.
But on the O4x it's going to be locked and probably for the foreseeable future. Maybe devs can crack it, or maybe they can't.
The specs are amazing no doubt. But how long will it last? I would imagine the upcoming SGSIII will out spec it. The G2x was king in specs for only such a short time, I can see the same thing happening for the upcoming O4x.
I love LG's build quality, I've enjoyed it on the G2x a lot actually. But they hate giving source, and now that they're locking the bootloader it's just going to be too much of a head ache for us phone junkies who like to mod it.

Having a dual core isn't a bad thing when it will be the fastest processor available on the market.
Yes a dual core is faster than a quad core, architecture makes a huge difference. Stop comparing number of cores and frequency and actually look up information. The Snapdragon S4 is faster than the Tegra 3 Quad Core.

Now if the LG G4x comes to T-Mobile, then that phone is definitely worth considering even thou LG/nVidia dont have a good developer reputation

According to the rumors the XL is the one that ATT will be getting because it will only have the dual core prossessor. From all the tests and articles the only upside that one will have over the TMo One S is the bigger screen size..
The HTC One S will still be called the One S with Tmo that's for sure but does have some similar but better specs than the Amaze.. first of all the thickness is way thinner and even though the processor is still a 1.5 dual core its suppose to be way more efficient.. the camera is suppose to be improved from the Amazes camera also even though that camera was awesome..overall I'm sure its more improved than what words can say but I don't think people would go too wrong with getting the Amaze since it should be going for a bargain once the One S comes out..
The Galaxy S II compared to the Galaxy S Blaze though will be a bit different..first of all it was strange that they created the Blaze as part of the Galaxy S line and not the II series but there is a major difference in screen size from 3.97 of the Blaze and the SGSII is a ton bigger at 4.5 inches.. both are suppose to have the 1.5 dual core possessor but the Blaze will be more of a lower end phone.. Ive seen too many issues with all of the Galaxy S phones so personally i wouldn't ever buy a Samsung over a HTC by any means.. Samsung makes great TVs but kind of crappy cell phones.. and that's coming from someone that has been working in the industry for the better part of 12 years now.. Ive seen quite a bit..
HTC will let you unlock it through their tool I'm sure, they just don't want us having S-OFF.

Qualcomm and nvidia have been always on the closed source side. And in closed source sense it means you have to buy a MOQ from them and sign NDA blah blah to get your hands on the datasheet. That's what AdamOutler was talking about (that dude wants to know which pin on the SoC does what ), not about HTC won't unlock the phone or release source code for the part that is open source (kernel). GPU driver is another issue as for nvidia and qualcomm it's propriety but qualcomm released their binary usermode driver for ICS. So all is fine, really.

Yea, I'm not sure why he seemed to single out HTC, as many phones and tablets have been, are, and will be built around Qualcomm and Nvidia chips. Taking his comment literally, one would think HTC developed it's own technology which it planned to keep secret. Taking into account the fact that other manufacturers will surly use the same, or similar, processors from these companies, why is he pointing the finger only at HTC?
And not to sound like an ass, but in his car analogy, you bore a cylinder, not a piston...
