What you've probably noticed is that on your chat settings, when you try to enable the FB chat, it goes to a non existent web page. Here's the work around:
Go to to your live account on live.com, go to profile, and you'll see the other accounts at the bottom (FB, youtube, etc) click on facebook, make sure chat is enabled, and hit save.
You'll have to type in your FB email and password. Now when you look at your phone, under the messaging settings, you'll noticed that FB chat is enabled.
You will probably have to manually resync at the very least for it to work. Other people have reported that it just takes time for your contacts to show up, and some other people have had success simply waiting because eventually they showed up for them.
Hope this helps.
thanks bro that did help but just for FB...What about Windows Live Messenger?
Hi.
Maroon Mushroom, thanks for your instruction.
But I have one little problem:
FB Chat is enabled in the settings, but in Messaging/Online it says "No one is online".
But there are FB Contacts online in the FB Chat.
How can I show this people?

Give it time. Mine didn't show up until the day after on my Samsung Focus.
If you really wanted to be extreme, I heard a hard reset works too. But you shouldn't have to do that.

No idea. I don't use Live messenger. All I know is that FB chat is currently working in this Mango build.
Oh yes, the solution is to wait for a while

Glad it worked. I was frustrated when I couldn't get mine to work but I woke up the next day and all my contacts were showing all the sudden.
The same situation I had when I woke up ^^
But sometimes when I don't use the phone for a while it says "No Contacts online" or "Cannot connect", but wifi and gsm/umts connection is there.
Then I wait a little bit and then it works again.
I hope the connection and reconnect will be improved.

That probably means that there is not mobile data connection ...only wi-fi data
And sinse wi-fi is closed when the phone sleeps thats why you get the no contacts message until the wi-fi is up again, connected and sync...

Just wondering if anybody has come across this issue before.
I'm using the HD2 (standard ROM) on T Mobile UK.
When out and about, even on a slow connection (showing [G]) I can use Opera, MSN or the Marketplace with no problems. However HTC Peep (the built in Tweet application) will never update. It always gives the message "The network is temporary not available. Retry?"
I get this even when i have [3g] or [H] showing.
The only time it works is if i'm connected via WiFi at home.
I've checked the settings and they all seem ok, but still no luck now for quite awhile.
Is this something I can fix, or should I start looking for a 3rd party Twitter app to replace it? If i do this, will it integrate in the same manner with the rest of the Sense UI and Notification sounds?
Thanks in advance
Does your internet connection use proxy?
Go check in your all settings - connections - connections - set up my proxy server and be sure the second option is not checked, then click ok and SOFT RESET your phone.
I had this problem in my TD2 and this is how I used to deal with it. I'm on vodafone live, wich used to use proxy, but now it supports connection without the proxy settings on my phone. Check if yours work.
And no, other twitter programs (from wich I recommend moTweets and Twikini) will integrate in the same manner as the twitter tab in sense.
Good luck.

I had that exact same problem with my Sim Free HD2 from e2save.com for use with my T-Mobile contract. e2save were no good, T-mobile were even more useless. One call to HTC and they sent me through the internet settings my SMS and fixed the problem instantly!
Give it a go, their number is: +44 8458900079
word of warning: From my experience, there is only one member of staff who is any good there! A chap called Nick I think. He's the one they all go to and he's the one that sorted it out when everyone else was blaming other people.
Tried messing with the proxy settings as suggested, but still no luck.
I'll give HTC a ring when I finish work and see what they say, thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated!
Hey I also have this problem with my tmobile phone, peep doesnt work, facebook doesnt work and neither does msn, I think its all to do with tmobiles lame proxies

Try what I have posted above - it works! I had the same problem. No 3rd party apps worked, email didn't sync, etc, but web browsing did work. HTC will send you the correct settings. Fixes problem in 10 seconds!
yeah any issue with connecting with tmobile is usually down to proxies
No luck getting through to HTC yet, rang them at 17:40 but no answer, rang back and now in a queue

I tried that, no luck
Do a search of my old posts. I fixed this by updating the connection database, then disablimg the proxy.
I have downloaded the new Qik and restarted and now it will not let me log in says that I am not connected to the network. I am connected to 3g and have tried on wifi as well, uninstalled and reinstalled as well as rebooted..... ahhhhh
I had the same problem until I accepted the OTA update and now it works just fine. Don't worry about root not being possible after the update because unrevoked.apk works with or without the OTA update.
If your not getting the OTA sent to you do this.
Menu - Settings - System Updates - HTC software update
Hope that helps
So after a FULL DAY WITHOUT QIK ON THE MARKET PLACE, I find "Qik Video" on there this morning and its doing the same thing as the preinstalled (that never updated btw).
Keeps telling me I don't have internet access.. pfft.

this is because every evo owner in the US is killing QIK's server if you wait and be patient you can eventually log in. now the app is kinda weak the video chat is similar to PTT. the person that initiates the call may talk freely while the other user has to push the talk button to speak. Skype on fring will be awesome until skype releases their own app later this year
Qik not workin
Hi everyone! Well just to report that qik is not really working, yesterday when I got my EVO the bestbuy employe set it up for me and it worked but later on when I tried to open the app again, it didn't work. I did update the my evo but still it doesn't work. I'm starting to believe that it may be bugs or something, what do you guys think?
well i also had some troubles with qik...... force closes everywhere.......it will work and then it doesn't.
The only thing i found to do is clear data then it works but I thought it did video chat I knew it was going to stink
...I also have not done the OTA yet....
Was having problems with it too! Did the lastest update and could log in after, oh about 20 times. BUT I lost the ability for video chat! Dont update if you want to keep video chat! The blue one has video and the orange does not! Anyone got the blue Qik apk?
choose contact number
Here's my deal with it. When I choose a contact to whom I want to send a video qik picks the wrong number and there's no way to select another number or email addy from the contact card. This alone makes the app 90% useless for me. I went to their support forum and its a mess. Anybody here have a solution for this?
here's the blue app
after installing, reboot your device and it should show up
enjoy
will this cause 2 icons one blue one orange or will it update the orange as they intended?
I have the blue one but neither I or my friends can figure out how to video chat with it. Qik = horrible fail.
okay so i installed the blue Qik app.. it worked over Wifi... freezes on 3g. .. 4G is spotty for me.. i barely get 1 bar if i even do get it... but it works.. only issue. it FC's when you try and sync with twitter.. and also facebook sync doesnt seem to work.. keeps asking me to go to the browser.. which i have.. but is still telling me that... anyone has this issue resolved?
I was Using the built-in Msn/facebook messenger function in the Mango built 7.10.7712.60 and came here to share some thought and wonder if i am the only one facing this issue or is there anyone else
Sometimes i get messages with delays .. the scenario is like this :
i am chatting with someone then a sudden silence breaks in .. after a while i write a something and hit send and BOOM i get like 3-4 messages that i didn't recieve on time.. it happened to me several times
did it happen to anyone else or just me ?

Go to wifi. Try it.
No delays. Blame your internet.
Just happens with my 3G/2G internet.
It happens to me all the time. What is annoying, though, is getting a toast notification for _every_ message, even when you are in the thread. I wouldn't mind the many toasts while I am not in the thread, but good grief, when I am watching all the messages come in, I don't need a notification for every one.
I am still unable to see my contacts online or to have them integrated with their actual contact information. I can chat with them if they message me first though. And they always show up as their email address. Has anyone figured that out yet?

Not concerned about the speed. But with reliability.

yes, this is solved by soft reset all your data on the phone - from the settings menu, ofc it will wipe all your data and everything, i had the same problem btw ^^
@The Main Problem
I am pretty sure its not related to the internet speed too, my 3G internet speed is above 4 mb/s
i Can't try it over wifi for some reason.. and even if i tried it will be of no use .. the basic state for my phone is 24/7 on 3G with Wifi turned off even at home .. also wifi turns off automatic after screen off so thats another block ..
what i am asking for is the reliability over 3G which is very important for a BBM/iCrap replacement solution ( for example )
i hope this get fixed in the final release, but i won't bet on it since the final release already out
The final release its 8 builds after our mango. So, it is a bug, it should be corrected. Although I dont think it really is a bug..
Jallen, do you have the Facebook app installed with notifications turned on?

I bought my wife a TF for her birthday a couple weeks ago and she's been playing around with it. So far she's happy, but today she wanted to use Skype to make a video call to her mom.
Needless to say, we soon found out that Skype Video chat isn't supported, so I found what I thought was an alternative. Google Talk, which comes stock on the Transformer. She then told her mom to get Google talk on her PC so they could chat.
This is what happens. Whether we called her mom or her mom called us, we cant get the video to load. If her mom rings the TF, our video loads in the lower right corner, but then her mom's video only pops up for a second and then we get sent to the Chat screen.
But here's the rub...I loaded Talk on my laptop and I can video call back and forth between my laptop and the TF just fine - video and sound. Now granted, I have no idea how my MIL has her PC set up...but I do know that we tried Google Talk Video PC to PC and it worked without issue.
Has anybody else experienced this and is there a fix? I searched online and found several people having the same issue, but I also found people who say it works flawlessly...and whats the disconnect between my laptop and the TF versus my MIL's PC and the TF? Could it be simply that both my devices are in the same WiFi? Could it be because my MIL lives in California?
Any input is appreciated.
It work fine for me too even when my PC and tablet are on different wifi network so probably the way it's set up on your MIL's side.
Now instead of using the app on the PC
She can try to log into her Gmail account and initiate a call from there.
I don't use any PC app at all just straight from my Gmail account on the PC
to my tablet.

My sympathies to you - despite being one of these womenfolk, I do actually know what you're talking about. Every other day either me or my husband is trying to fix some sort of computer issue for my mother-in-law. God help us all if she actually realizes video chat is a thing.
That said, also slightly off topic, but despite preferring Gtalk personally, it would be really nice to see Skype working on this device since everyone under the sun seems to use it. I haven't had a problem so far with TF-to-TF vid chat, but I'll see if I can replicate your issue with one of the desktops later. You'll probably have it resolved by then though, I'd imagine
Good luck!

To get there log into the gmail account, then:
1. Click in the gear icon on the far upper right.
2. Click mail settings.
3. Click in the chat tab
4. In the Voice & Video Chat area there is a camera drop down box to choose the hardware.
Also make sure she has installed the Video Chat plug-in:
1. Again from the gmail account click on her gmail e-mail ([email protected])
2. Click account settings
3. Click talk
4. Click install Video Chat plug-in
Hope one of those get things working for you.
I also tried it from my Desktop. My desktop (Vista 32 machine) had no issues. My laptop is a Win7 64. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. I wouldn't think so.
I'm almost positive that its something or some setting on her end not quite right.
Now to communicate it to her and make her understand cause its not like I can just hop in my car to go take a look at it.
I've got pretty much the exact same problem here! Calls from PC-PC work, but from TF-PC don't load at all. It's been like this for well over a month, and I have yet to figure out any solution.
Did you manage to get anything to work on your end?
EDIT: Found this link. Any news or solutions would probably be posted there first. As of 3 days ago Google was still working on a fix.
Hummm.... I can report that video chat does work with my TF and my Win7 64 Laptop. After going into the Google settings, as I mentioned above, and setting the correct web cam device, I have tired it several time with no issues.
My TF is up to date and running 3.2 by the way.
Of course I was on the same home network with both devices, so maybe being on different networks would yield different results.
Hey Nickovtyme, you think your MIL would want to try Yahoo Messenger?
I use it and it work good though resolution is not as good as GTalk.

That works fine for me when we're both on the same home network. If possible, try tether the TF via WiFi hotspot from your phone (if you have a data plan) - that will effectively put it on a different network - and try GTalk again with your computer to see if it still works.

So far i have removed my gmail account and re-added it but still same. i have excluded gmail app from battery optimization but still same. i cannot keep on looking on emails. is there anyway to fix this issue ? please help.
I've not seen this issue. I get a lot of email with multiple gmail accounts using the gmail standard app. Stock unrooted. I don't use battery optimization though ever.
If you are using a non-stock setup, you might check with the rom builder to see if this is an issue with that setup.
Very common, I see it from time to time. There are several bug reports on Google about it. No known fix.

You gotta be missing something. Maybe wifi goes off when the phone is down or something? Have you tried it on LTE only and do you get notifications on other network related apps like news alerts? Messages don't count unless you're using Signal or WhatsApp which I believe rely on network connectivity more so than simple SMS. This is not a usual circumstance because if it was then everyone would have been reporting it long ago. You just gotta keep looking until you find the culprit.

im getting all other notifications timely. whatsapp, messengers, facebook e.t.c. only issue is with gmail. i have tried all the settings but the problem persist for no reason.
Just figured out what's really happening. Only getting notifications from primary inbox and not from other inboxes such as updates, forums, promotions e.t.c.
Even though in settings I have "tick" notify for every message but still no sound or notification.
I have cleared so for data/cache uninstalled Gmail app but same thing every time.
Finally found the solution to it. After digging into menu and settings and found that by default sub-folder (such as updates, forums, promotions) emails notifications are disabled. i had to manually enable it under "Manage Labels" tab to turn on the notification sound. Now its working as it use to be.
