Just choose at the language settings German (Germany) and you'll have a QWERTZ-layout.

If you've installed the apk's then go to Language and keyboards in the settings and tick the appropriate keyboards and then open an app that uses keyboards like your messaging app, long press the screen and select input method and then choose a keyboard.
You got a link to the HTC keyboard apk?

Same problem here,
I bought an azerty bluetooth keyboard (I'm french of course) and it's in qwerty in Android.
I need to remap the keyboard and I tried to edit the qwerty.kl and it's work for some letters but I can't remap everything.
Does anyone know where can I find a solution or how can I remap everything ?
I've red the [HOWTO] topic in Xoom section but it doesn't work on the TP (gingerbread vs honeycomb).
Thanks !
I planned on trying to work on this after finals this week, but I am no expert so there is no guarantee that I will do it well or fast. I googled and found some decent how-to's so we will see how it goes.
Oh and I have searched and searched and have not found a keymapping app, though there was a keyboard (hackers keyboard I think) that stated that the would include that in a later update.
*edit, it was bluetooth keyboard easyconnect that is adding keymap support.
Thank you for your interest. I'm following you.

You should search for a qwerty.kcm.bin that has the french layout. It should work for any azerty.
For example from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3616778&postcount=178
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=173725&d=1239106569
Just use the azerty.kcm.bin and put it in /system/usr/keychars as qwerty.kcm.bin
Make a backup. You need to remount system as rw.
If that's work you can go and modify /system/usr/keylayout.kl to map custom buttons on the keyboard.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work...
BlueInput should support different keyboard layouts (http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=blueinputandroid).

Hello,
I have make a patch for the touchpad Bluetooth AZERTY Keyboard
Install the zip file patch in Recovery Mode like a ROM.
French tutorial : goo.gl/uqypF
GoBZH
Thank you very much !!
It works very well
You can always make your own keylayout.kl and name it whatever your keyboard is named. I did this for my BT keyboard and it works well. Use this keytest app to find the key number for all the buttons, then go ahead and use the generic.kl and erase everything and start from scratch. It's not too hard, just follow the syntax and you're good to go.
Here's a link to all the possible key events too.

You need to be rooted....
You can change the key mapping using this app, but and you can also create some personal keyboard shortcuts ( which is what I do)

Change keyboard layout to German (QWERTZ)

Hi all!
I've been running ICS from the beginning of it's official release, but flashed the US-version instead of the european one.
No problem so far, but I have the wrong dock-keyboard-layout (QWERTY instead of QWERTZ).
Then I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1144204
But where can I find the layout for the german/austrian layout? Could anybody please upload it for me (path to the files should be /system/usr/keylayout and
/system/usr/xt9/keylayout; it's mentioned in the other thread)?
Thanks in advance,
LB115
If you are familiar with the QWERTZ layout, simply go to your language and input settings and select the ASUS German QWERTZ layout.
Your keys will be mapped to the new layout, but the pretty little stickers on them will still be for a different version.
I have a US keyboard, but setting it to ASUS English (UK) allows me to get to the £ symbol and the @ and " are reversed from what is physically on the keys, but it is the standard for UK English.
I have also used the ASUS Spanish keyboard settings with the US Keyboard with no issues.
If you are using any other setting (for instance Thumb Keyboard) for when you are undocked, it will revert to the ASUS English (US) layout regardless which version of the keyboard you have.
Thanks, but when using the Transformer without the dock I have the QWERTZ-layout. Only when using the dock I get the QWERTY one. My system language is German, all keyboard settings too, the dock is a german one...
EDIT: ok, it's working now. I only changed the default keyboard (Android keyboard+ instead of Android keyboard). Thanks for your help!
Hi, I've got the same problem, running FROZN 1.0.9 rom. But there is no other keyboard available than the android keyboard. Do I have to insall another one to get the qwertz layout for my dock?
Thanks for replies!
EDIT: Found Android Keyboard+ in this Post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528322&highlight=qwertz , then I did like Lunchbox115 and it's working now

[Q] English stock Keyboard

Hi there dear sirs.
I am using ics stock rom unrooted and a strange thing happend to the english keyboard.
I am using huawei's Input method.
It uses the "phone" format (with the T9 option) and not the qwerty format as it was two days ago.
I am very sure that i didn't change anything on the settings.
On the greek language and on numeric keyboard, the format is qwerty.
It might seem like a nood question but i cannot locate the keyboard format setting.
Any help ? please ?
well i feel stupid, all i had to do is to "swipe" to the left or right to change the keyboard format.
Thank you anyway.

[Q] Keyboard Problems

Hi,
recently my One S had received the update to 4.04. After that my keyboard is QWERTZ instead of QWERTY. I tried to change language settings but I have only "English (Swiss) English (Austria) English (Germany) and none of those have QWERTY keyboard. How can I do?
[I have alredy posted this in a wrong section]
Same problem
This problem has affected me also. Apparantly it looks like we must both have a german hardware keyboard in our phones. First option seems to be to root the phone and change the hardware as per this existing link, but hopefully someone can tell us another way to do this without rooting?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852514
I have installed swift keyboard for now which resolves it but I don't like it as much as the built in keyboard. Would be nice to be able to go back to qwerty without rooting phone. Anyone that can help?
