How to delete bloat from ur phone. - Verizon Droid Charge

I have humble 1.2 and there are a few apps that came pre-installed with it id like to delete, anyone able to recomend a good uninstaller

Root explorer

Titanium Backup

Astro Manager and AntTek App Manager are root-enabled free explorers that should work, but I've definitely had better results once I broke down and purchased the two essential Android apps mentioned in the two posts above mine.

Best File Manager

Hi;
Im looking for recommendations for a good file manager for my HTC Desire HD, I mainly use a mac as my primary PC but also use Win XP and 7.
I'm looking for something that can access files on my SD card on my phone.
Root Explorer is what i use. Perfect for my needs.

Best one there is!
+1 for both Astro and Root Explorer

I use astro and root explorer together.
I love the user friendly interface of astro and its amazing app manager.
The only thing that makes me use root explorer is.. well the root aspect astro can't explore the phone's root.
I use FileGo
It's not a popular one,..due to people not understanding how it work I think (many comments say it doesnt have copy/paste),..but I like it more then Astro (which I used till it went pro).
FileGo has 2 explorer windows you can swipe between and drag/drop files for easy copy/paste.
Another nice feature is Catalog button on the bottom which gives you quick access to: SD Card, Processes, Apps, APKs, Music, Pictures.
I'll have to give root explorer a go though, only rooted recently.
I'm a file manager fanatic.
Astro-used this until it went pro
Linda manager- nice explorer
Es explorer - so far my fav
Super manager - decent, its free and allows you to explore root ... its also a task manager... its GUI is a bit unsavory and its a memory hog (28mb RAM)
Ghost commander - similar to total commander on the PC. Allows 2 pane exploring and with its update added experimental root browsing feature.
OI manager - very simple browser

Am i the only one who likes the stock files manager? Unfortunately gingerclone doesn't have it.
edit post: damn i thought i was at the vibrant sections. haha!
ES File Explorer ~ and simply because it allows me to share files with my PC.
Absolutely brilliant....
Since using ESFE I have stopped using USB to connect to my PC for sharing files.
Best three:
1.Astro
2.EStrongs (ES)
3.Dual File Manager (dual view)
first rate for astro!
ES file Explorer is my fav.

Never heard of this one until today. Whoa! This is going to be my staple file manager..beautiful folders, custom icons and classy interface..and it shows apk icons which is a must for me. Nice features in settings.
Also File Expert is nice, advanced features like "use as root explorer"..another one I liked, but can't remember.
Total Commander for Android rules

App/file managment

I realize everyone has their opinion about software but I was wondering if there was a good app/file management tool in the market that everyone likes or most people like. Or are these two separate applications? I plan on rooting shortly and want to get rid of the bloatware and be able to manage my files. Thanks
I like Astro File Manager, works like a charm..........
Same Here. Pro version is awesome. Free version is good too...
Root Explorer, full r/w access to the entire system, text editor, and gives you access to the /data folder that other file managers don't.
I would have to say that I have also used astro file manager since I first got my nexus one over a year ago and it is one of the first applications I download when I get a new android device. I would recommend it to anyone.

Thanks
I'm going to start the root now! Thanks for the info. hopfully all goes well.
I use Astro and Root Explorer as well, both premium. I will use the root explorer to "borrow" apps from my 6 other devices to swap around with eachother.

So I figured out a round about way to get apps from the market.

There were a few apps I wanted on my new gtab that I couldn't seem to find on the market after flashing the latest VEGAN rom since google filters apps according whatever device you are using to view the market. It was kinda driving me nuts since I have a few on my phone I wanted on my gtab. Then I remembered Astro File Manager allows you to "backup" apps you have on your device. In my case I have a Droid X and I wanted Yahoo Messenger but the market on the gtab wouldn't show it. So I downloaded and installed it on my Droid X via the market. Went to astro file manager backup tool and chose yahoo messenger and the video plugin. Backed it up. Astro saves all backed up apps to a folder on your sd card called backup. From astro i send it to my dropbox which I sideloaded before hand on the gtab. It makes it easy to send the files to the gtab. I know there are sites with alot of the freeware from the market, but if your like me I don't trust sideloading my apps from some random website and much prefer getting mine from the app market to insure it is as safe as it can be. Then this is an easy option. It works on any rom stock or custom. You can also setup an ftp server if you don't want to use dropbox. The stock rom has the ability to access ftp sites with the stock files manager ES File Explorer. Needless to say I have yahoo messenger + video chat working great on the tab. Be aware some apps I have tried simply will not work on the gtab unfortunately. If anyone found this helpful let me know, and if anyone needs more detail or a step by step guide let me know and I will write one up.
You can do the same thing with Titanium backup.

[q] need help removing bloatware!?!?

So I have my phone rooted, but I don't feel like using a different ROM. I only want to get rid of all the bloatware. I downloaded super manager from the market, and I was able to find many of the apps I wanted to delete in the "system folder"
My problem is that I cannot find the following apps in that folder.
T-Mobile Mall
Highlight
App Pack
The folder i found that had the rest of the apps was under the heading system/apps. Those three, however, are no where to be found. I tried using the search feature but that does not bring up anything. I am looking for the .apk files so that I can remove that stuff from the phone. Any ideas?????

root and install root explorer. go to /system/app and delete what you don't want and than reboot. all done. i deleted all my t-mobile crap there. have fun and be careful. make a backup just in case you make a mistake. i found all my t-mobile preinstalled apps there. some dont go by the name in the app drawer just look for the icon and go from there.
App Pack is in the system/app/ folder.Highlight & T-Mobile Mall are part of App Pack,so once that is deleted you will see all three icons disappear, use Root Explorer.

I would root and then use bloat freezer from the market. It just freezes your apps so they don't appear and can't run. You can unfreeze them at any time. It's on sale for 99 cents.
same issue
So I'm coming across the same issue. I rooted the device, downloaded root explorer and bloat freeze. After using root explorer to delete other items, I still cantfind the above apps to delete. Highlight, and tmobile mall are still present, but dont show in root explorer.
Any suggestions on where to go now.
Bloat freeze can't find them as well.
Titanium back up.

which file manager you use on your phone?

there are several good ones. i think a quick pool would be nice to get a discussion going.
i used root browser for a long time but now i got too many annoying ads, instead of paying i tried cm file manager, but on latest update they locked me in the sd card only... sigh. I'm sure there are work around or a "expert" version or something, but that just undermines the credibility. on most "best app" threads people mention es for explorer, but it always felt bloated to me...
what's the one you use?

I used to enjoy es explorer as its very complete but I've never installed it after the baidu fiasco. I use Cabinet beta right now. It looks very appealing but its not nearly as complete as ES.
ES File Explorer. One of the very few that remember scroll position, which is an absolute must for me.
Total Commander is my favourite because it has a LAN plugin and can be used with root privileges.
ES File Explorer ftw!
Solid explorer! Hands down my favorite.
