I have used the search for my question but i couldnt find anything (sorry if there is a thread about this)
i am thinking to root my thunderbolt and obviously jump on the Sense 3.0 rom, but it said the rom works great with the MR2 radio, i was just wondering if the MR2 radio is needed to run the DasBamf Sense 3.0 rom and if the MR2 still bricks the phone.
thanks in advance!
If you look at the sticky threads in the HTC Thunderbolt Development forum The third thread has a list of ROMs and the radios that serve them.
Be careful that you match the Froyo/Gingerbread radios to the respective ROMs. You mentioned dasBAMF, which is in section IIe of the post I mentioned. As far as bricking is concerned, just make sure to read through the radio download threads to make sure that others are doing well with the radio and PLEASE make sure that you check the MD5sum of the radio against what is offered for download.

I've been using various Cyanogen and Hero ROMs since June and have now reverted back to the stock Vodafone UK ROM. In general the stock stuff is fine, it's quick and bluetooth audio works for phone and media. I need root access though to use Bluex for bluetooth file send/receive and pushing the HTC_IME keyboard
What I'd like to know is does anyone know how to root the new Donut release?
I've tried the Haykuro's rootmesigned but get a FC and constant reboot...it was worth a try
there is already a full solution for you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=565929
I used it on mine and works perfectly, no flaws. Install that and you are done.
yeah there is a way. but im not going to answer because this is in the wrong section. read the stickies up top, search around, then post in the right section and maybe you will get more answers.

Aw gee thanks...NOT
If you don't have anything contructive to add then don't.
I spent hours searching and read through countless threads. For your info I have been installing ROMS since they came out in May (before the Wiki was in place), have contributed and would you believe it I have even been thanked for my help, I am comfortable with using ADB, Fastboot etc, am familiar with linux and have read the stickies.
Is asking about a rooted ROM not developement? Have YOU read the stickies because from what I have read, surprise surprise, in this section there is a sticky up above here about hacking and rooting. As far as I'm aware any developement focused questions would be posted in the developement section not general.
If I'm wrong them I'm quite happy to follow the MODS rules and their directions.
Are you going to repeat your post with questions about OTA updates being in the wrong section too?
P.S. the very helpful 'htcmagic' had already spoiled it for you
@BigRD: no problem mate, glad i could help. I installed the rom above and i am extremely happy with it. I have also installed busybox on it too.
Its much faster that vodafones original.
Hey mate, try Amon_Ra's Donut Rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538645
Very fast and stable with Root and others. I'm using it on my vodafone magic. Works really nice.
Or alternatively just go back to Cyanogen. Its Donut and it has more features than any other rom on this site so...its all up to you
@widezu69 & @htcmagic Cool, thanks guys.
I spent a lot of time with Cyanogen's ROMs up until the Google thing happened and was running eViL's Hero ROMs up to v3.0. I wanted to get back to a smoothish stock ROM issued by my network supplier but rooted by one of the great developers on XDA. I keep finding that other than the Vodafone original and the Google ION ROM bluetooth audio for phone and multi media working at the same time is very hit or miss. Am going to give both versions posted here a try over the next few days
Another one who wants a Rooted Vodafone Donut
I am also searching for a method to root a stock Vodafone Magic 32B that has had an OTA Donut update.
The answers on the thread so far involve flashing a new Donut Rom - my issue is that I have Donut already, and have never rooted - I am assuming the Root instructions included in the Wiki and Relentless Rooter are only aimed at Cupcake.....or am I wrong?
Any help/advice appreciated....
rooting the magic 1.6
Hi folks, dito as above. I've been up half the night trying to work this out. Have recently bought an htc magic from vodafone, and been 'updated' to doughnut 1.6. Not bad, but I'm really keen to get root on this, and eventually install the latest rom from cyanogen...
Seems there are now a few issues for people like me wanting to root their handsets... so far I've managed to erase my user settings, but keep getting errors trying to flash a rom. Followed the link above to nk02's thread, and no luck. Same issue, update aborts. There must be an easier way...
nk02 says his ROM works with 'wipe + flash'. How the heck do I do that? Seems this latest update to 1.6 has made all the other methods of gaining root obsolete... I'm far from a linux novice, and would love some advice here. And please don't tell me to keep searching, solid help would be appreciated. Cheers.
What is the best rom currently running off the 2.1 software? I am fairly new to modding my mytouch 3g if you can't tell, I've got the latest CM build, latest radio, and am currently researching SPLS(Best SPl download and how to apply would also be a fun thing to add to your help)

Q- Which ROM is best for me/ Which ROM is the best for 32A/B?
A- Take some time on the forums, look at the ROMs available for your device and individually assess what works for you by reading the various issues affecting them and make a decision. If that still doesn't work out for you, hey, that's what makes XDA great, try a different one and so on, till you find one that YOU'RE happy with. It's very subjective since what my needs are could be totally different from what yours are.
Thanks for the reply. To run a 2.1 ROM you need Danger SPL, which is supposed to be 1.33.2005, yet mI have the Hboot. How do I get the latest Danger SPL? I have the 2.22.23.02 radio, and the latest CM build currently. I'd like one with all the features of 2.1 without any problems in the wifi/bluetooth/camera/sms and mms areas.
Don't install the Danger SPL, that is for the G1. Get haykuro's SPL (the one in my signature), it works with all roms.
The instructions here are the ones I used:
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Magic_Rooting
I followed a guide and installed it onto my phone perfectly(At least from the fact I see1.33.2005 in the Hboot section of my fastboot screen), all I need now is to find a good 2.1 rom and I'll be set.
Are there any ROM's available thru rom manager for the Infuse 4G

No, and don't expect many to ever be there. ROM Manager's faulty CWM has caused so many problems that the recommended installation method for all ROMs here (and in fact currently the ONLY method) is a manual download followed by flashing with CWM, and it will likely stay that way. gtg465x is the only dev who made the mistake of putting his ROMs up on ROM Manager and it caused no end of stress and frustration for him due to all of the people who misflashed.
I'm a long time iphoner jailbreaker. I have read and read. I have probably been on ths forum more in the last 2 months than any other member and I'll stand behind that comment. Can you post a thread that explains this in detail lol. I'm old. I had 1.53 then went to 2.03 but I couldn't make a call so I'm back stock rooted.
Right now, if you look through the dev forum:
Three Froyo ROMs - Infused v1.x, Refuse, Bionix Infinity. All three are good solid high-quality ROMs. These all have HDMI support and solid data performance on AT&T.
One complete Gingerbread ROM - Infused v2.x - As you may be able to tell, since this is based on a Canadian firmware release it has... issues in terms of data performance on AT&T. It's been tough to find a good configuration that works in all AT&T areas - things that fix the situation for some users completely break others. I'm seriously beginning to think that until AT&T releases Gingerbread we should go with the original RIL and APN combo - they didn't achieve "awesome" performance for anyone but they also didn't achieve "broken" performance for anyone.
There is also the brand new Hellraiser package, which lets you flash i9000 ROMs. There are a few known issues (the first call you make or receive after installation has no audio but it works OK after that) but it's overall working fairly well.
Is there a thread that can explain this in detail.I'm back to 1.53 but don't feel comfortable with the procedure. I just want to learn. Not trying to be a noob.

Most ROMs have installation instructions. I suggest you read most of the first posts of ROM release threads, then read up on rooting techniques (SuperOneClick is the most common), then google ClockworkMod, then google Android ADB.
I'm using MIUI 1.11.18 and Bricked 1.6 beta1. Just wanting some help to find the various radios for this ROM and phone. I can't seem to find any threads on it.

Have you tried looking on your ROM's thread, often it is in the first post or two..
The radio you use should be customized for your specific location as people from all over the world use each ROM. Usually the ROM doesn't include a radio unless it specifically says that it does. Some ROMs will even recommend what radio to use in the first post, or what radio the developer tested the ROM on. At the end of the day you should try and see what radio and RIL work best for you. Look in the stickies for the development section to find the threads for future reference. Here they are so you can get started:
Radio Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178143
RIL Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202867
I am in Las Vegas on T-Mobile and I use the radio from the 1.45 RUU and the corresponding 2.2.0169 RIL. I've tried newer/different ones that weren't specifically for TMOUS, and I ended up coming back to the stock radio and RIL because of great reception and good battery usage. I'm just one guy though. Try a few and see what works best for you and your area.
Hope this helps
and most importantly if your current radio works, don't change it
changing radio CAN cause a brick
"If it's not Broken, Don't fix It"
Thanks for all this info guys. Certainly don't want to brick the phone. Getting reasonable signal on Vodafone UK just wanted to see if it can be improved.
I apologize if this has been answered and I missed it.
Last night I rooted my Inspire using the Ace hack kit. I would like to install CM7 on it. If I do this, do I also need to flash a new radio/ril? or does the ROM come with radio/ril included?

Wow....seriously you should have probably read alot more before rooting and opening a thread like this...
CM has its own Q&A like most roms so please ask questions there. Per xda rules you are to search first before asking. All of this can be found on this site.
This is not a help site, its a developers site so please keep that in mind.
Help: only time I'm doing this...
Link to cm Q&A http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213154
Roms come with rils not radios. Radios stay with the phone. Please don't ask how to flash a radio. Find the radio thread in the inspire dev section. You will find instructions there.
I got your 10 char right here
If you successfully rooted with the Ace Hack Kit, then you already have the best radio you're going to find. CM7 already has it's own RIL and it is 100% compatible with the radio that the hack kit installs.
In short, don't **** with your radio.
