I have just realized that on the sensation the up/down left/right arrows have been removed.
I absolutely hate this the arrows were supposed to make up for the scrolling ball in the middle. It seems like HTC have stoped listening to the customers, this is not good.
What do others think of this change?

This is a gingerbread thing, not a sensation thing. Download a different keyboard from the Market with arrows.

I understand its a gingerbread issue, I would have preferred if it was a system standard.

i was just being excessively specific, it was in most froyo builds, but i just posted the one i used the most...
as for keyboards on the market with arrows on the bottom, there arent any as far as i could see, and i tried 6 of them. only 1 had arrows, and they were on the right, and couldnt be rearranged
if anyone knows of one, paid or free, it would be very helpful, thx
Try a keyboard called thumb keyboard. Gives the option in the setting to have the cursor row keys in portrait no landscape though. Better then nothing.
Swiftkey is also a very very good ime with an intuitive UI. Oh and has the option to add arrows.
I hated that keyboard on my Evo! I like the standard HTC keyboard it keeps it centered.

Ultra keyboard is the best keyboard I have used. Swype is a bit more responsive but I MUST have arrow keys. Plus you can adjust the height of your keys and simple cut and paste options.
Hmmm...
The Desire HD ports of Sensation IME with Trace, etc HAS the Keys.
Try and ask a desire HD Dev to help u guys out

Without the arrows its so uncomfortable it is very difficult and slow to amend an error just by useing the cursor. I hope the arrows are back in the next update.

I couldn't decide if I wanted the arrows or not. They're very helpful, but take up too much space. So I just pull the spacebar when I need them.

I absolutely HATE the stock keyboard! I usually end up having to re-type everything 2-3 times because the "autocorrect" grabs the wrong words. I can't stand the way shifted characters change positions on the screen if you press the "12#" key.
I'll be the first one in line to buy a "Inspire 4G Shift" if HTC adds a slide-out qwerty keyboard, much like they added to the Evo.

Why not just install the older HTC sense keyboard? It is identical but without the arrows, and it has the Smileys button. Over in the nexus one forum is where i get it.

Swiftkey is nice. Recently got flex t9 free from amazon market and liking that one as well.
I like the arrows. They come in handy when you need to navigate to different fields. But support for that is kinda spotty. And I agree, key board is too big in landscape mode. Makes the rest of the screen unusable, at least its got a handy hide button.

Hi Folks,
on my DHD (Leedroid) there were 4 Arrows under the keyboard (left/right/up/down).
With my new Sensation I miss these keys a lot.
Is there a chance to get these arrows back?

I really miss those too. Those are the reason that I like so much HTCs keyboards.

Developers prefer to keep their roms as stock as possible to decrease chances for any problem. Also, just like how some like to remap buttons, some people don't want to as well.
That's why some devs just make it a flashable package or recommend which mod/app for those that want to do it.

Launcher Pro is far from Sense 3.0.
I'm sure 99% of people in this forum are well aware you can replace the launcher, but his question is specifically for modifying a component of HTC Sense - remapping the Personalize soft key to browser/messaging/etc.
As far as I know, there is no personalize soft key on LP either, unless you're talking about using a Sense theme with LP..? :-/
This has been done on previous versions of Sense and i'm sure someone could get it working with 3.0 too if they wanted.
I know this was done on the MT4G, I'll attempt to find that thread for reference.

You can enlarge the buttons in smart keyboard? How? I would like to use the entire space so that the buttons actually are touching each other instead if having small spaces in between them.
I need a keyboard with arrow keys, so far smart keyboard is the only one that does the trick for me. Sense and GB keyboard both lack it
I actually use an old version of "shape writer" that is a non market app that I found either on xda or android central forums.

GB keyboard. i like the arrow keys.
Sorry for late reply. (SMART KEYBOARD).
Settings>general settings>key height(there you can manage height & width).
And if needed there is an option to pad the bottom of keyboard for "added lift ".
1 of the best features, are the addition of free skins in options. Just one tap and you can have almost any other keyboard variant.
Side note-Not sure if "pro version" varies as I only have this.

I am using Ondroid 8.6.5 and I love it. Other than the keyboard arrows. I keep reading that in the latest release there is an option to remove the arrows. I see no such option???? I also tried the "HTC Keyboard Without Arrows" zip under mods on the ondroid dev page. That does nothing. Am I missing something? The arrows are so annoying I would like to get rid of them. Any input appreciated. Thanks.
Try flashing this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605463&highlight=keyboard
I was using the blue one w/o the arrows when I was using OrDroid (also on 8.6.5) and it looks (and works ) great
I just tried that keyboard. I love the colors. But I still have arrows. I might not have explained it well enough. But my issue is in landscape mode. I have four arrows all the way to the right of the screen. Up arrow. Right arrow. Left arrow. Down arrow. How do I get rid of those. They shift my whole keyboard over and it messes up my typing. Lol.
No one has removed them from landscape, I kinda like em in landscape but hated them in portrait
Sent from my sensational sensation 4g
Really.? No one has removed them? That kinda sucks. It has shifted my kb over just enough that I keep hitting the "." button when I'm trying to hit the space bar. My mind is programmed for the old kb lol. Guess I will have to get used to it. Thanks.
