hey guys dont know if opened before couldt find anywhere the topic. i installed mango to my hd7 not unlocked using provision. update went nice but now when i connect my hone to pc zune says needs to be updated then it cant update says : catn find media ZUNE WMDU compnent? any ideas?
Exact same issue here! That same stupid error - could a few people try updating their WP7 device by connecting it with Zune and see if the same issue comes up. I think this is definitely an issue - I bet this is a situation that people have not realized yet.... I thought I read somewhere that Zune software needs to be updated to 4.8 but I have no idea where to get this update (it appears hidden/locked down.)
this is in almost every thread that deals with mango, several of these with actual links to the files. Yes, the Zune 4.8 is a requirement. the files are listed in several threads here dealing with mango. you can also download it as a torrent, e.g. demonoid.

not sure if these still work. but again, files are on the green demon as well. I do not know which one of these is Zune 4.8. it's a file with over 230mb. Bing search works. I see you solved your problem by changing region.

are you talking about the update to 4.8.2098.0 that just came out today for Devs to upgrade to 7712? Otherwise, the links on the first page still work:

Never mind i got it and updated but dont really see any difference from 7661
I have the same issue with the update when I connect my phone to zune...so my question is if I DL Zune 4.8 will it prompt me audomaticly to update to build 7712?

the zune client package contains both 32 and 64bit versions. the latest is here. It is version 4.8.2134.0 that came with the 7712 Mango update.

Yes to question 1.
Your guess is as good as anyone elses as far as this being the final release or not. I suspect that at a minimum the final will at least be updated to report the same version in Windows as it does in the image file. (Windows still reports it as 1.13, while the image reports as being 1.25).
You need to read every message in the two main WM6 threads before you're allowed to ask another question...you're grounded son!

I don't think it did. You can tell by going and looking at how you save a file. I don't remember but I know now that it gives you all the options to save a file in the 2007 format. I have the leaked AT&T Rom and don't remember seeing that.

FYI... I just went to the site and got this message:
The download you requested is unavailable. If you continue to see this message when trying to access this download, go to the "Search for a Download" area on the Download Center home page.
Maybe that's the reason for the official WM6 delay! They were waiting for this!

I wanted to know because I get this error "My location Beta is not compatible with the device" message. I was wondering if this problem was fixed in their latest version. Questions pertaining to this same question on their site has no answers, maybe someone here knows a solution?

The current version is 2.2.0.16. I have been successful in the past few months by DLing from www.google.com/glm/ on my device. I find that the page located here shows the version number, whereas www.google.com/gmm/ does not.

I received that same error message on version 2.2.0.10 while travelling a few weeks ago in Florida. I had never seen that message before, and was surprised I got it at all, considering that I KNOW GMM works with my device. I have not gotten that error message since that one time, so it might have been a fluky thing on their servers.
Anyway, I hope this helps in some way,

I get the same error, just disregard it. As far as I can tell, it doesn't affect anything with the app using GPS. It must be a feature abailable to specific devices.

Very strange. I DL'd from the URL I presented above (google.com/glm), and [I just double-checked] the version number it installed is also as above (2.2.0.16). I cannot explain why your's is different. Maybe it has something to do with locale???? Curious ... what version did the DL page state for you?

I've tried looking for the download link on my PC and windows mobile phone and the only place I can download it is in the "on a mobile device? click here."

Just go to the site from your phone, and from there you can download the cab. The .jad file is for Java, what device do you have?

I have the HTC Touch (Sprint Vogue). I stated that I tried that, but all I get is the .jad file. Other people have stated that they got theirs without any trouble.
I have downloaded the latest ROM with WM 6.1 from their official website.
Is there any other way I can get the cab?

Thanks for the help, but I found that using Opera or Skyfire will not give you the cab file.
You have to use Internet Explorer to get the file.

I got Google Maps to work correctly on my HTC X7510. The option "MY LOCATION" now works fine. All I did was set the options to "MANUALLY" locate GPS. Basically I plugged-in the vallues I used from Start>Connections>GPS Settings.
I would love to test features Mango before its release but I do not have a developer account, when will this be possible?

It's of no use because those files would check if your device is in an unlocked state. If not unlock, it won't start the updating process.
Besides the unlock check: the files are under a strict NDA by Microsoft... Just a reminder for those, who did not read the release notes

After it is installed, make a backup using this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103011
After that, download the batch file, connect your phone, run the file, receive Mango.

The Support Tool is not meant to go on your device.
Just a warning, however. Doing this is extremely dangerous and you will receive no grief from Microsoft, HTC, or your carrier if something goes wrong.

If you aren't developer registered, you will need to use an app like ILSpy or .NET Reflector to change the backup/provision tool to accept unregistered devices.

I realized last night that I can't mount network shares from my NAS because i'm still using v22 but preware doesn't offer me to update uberkernel to v36 which has support for cifs, which is the issue.
can someone point a link or can help figuring out why I'm not getting the update?

EDIT: Nevermind, I just realized that the version of uberKernel I'm using is straight from default Preware and not from the testing repository. I didn't realize I wasn't on Uberkernel-36. Updating fixed it. If anyone else is having the same problem, you probably fell for the same trap as me - assuming the latest Uberkernel is installed by default in Preware. It's not - it's in a testing package.
