again, we need more info or you should ask you admin / provider. you need to know if you are using ssl or not, you need to know your pop3/imap/smtp server address.
if you are able to access internet on your phone, then this is not related to T-mobile (if you don't have emails from them) or any network provider...
This are the settings used for configuring YAHOO mail manually....maybe these will help you see where you are going wrong:
For Yahoo.com
Incoming mail server (POP3): plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
For Yahoo.co.uk
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk (Use SSL, port: 995)
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)
Many thanks

Hello,
I've set-up my hotmail account at my phone and I'm stuck with something.
When using my hotmail with my browser, it will send the mail from a different adres than my regular hotmail adres. (from my own domain) However, when I send an e-mail from my phone, it will always send my mail from my hotmail adres.
So is there a way to configure my account on my phone so it will continue to receive the mail from my hotmail adres, but will send my mail from my personal adres?
Cheers,
Zyt

Ok so, this is the classic I cant get my exchange account working on my HTC post,
First of all my email account is not from a company it's a common Hotmail account, but a I managed to get it work in my iPod touch using these settings:
Email: [email protected]
Server: m.hotmail.com
Domain: *blank*
Username: lol
Password: *password*
Description: whatever...
So I just don't get why this don't work in my Inspire, so sad, any options?... And no any third party exchange account works so I'm not paying for one
Please help me
Thanks

Have you go to your Accounts & Sync options? you can add your account from there.
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47coaOMI8rY
It's a bug in HTC's mail app. From what I heard, it's to do with the default app not accepting the ssl certificates that hotmail uses. HTC knows about it, but hasn't done anything about it yet.
Well I'm going to have to change all my subscriptions to my gmail account, I was about to do it before but I'm so lazy xD, also I don't like the lack of pinch to zoom in the gmail app, it's so basic...
Thanks

I've been doing some searching across the web and I've yet to find a definitive answer on this issue. I'm trying to get my school email account to link to my Sensation via IMAP. My school uses Gmail as its mail server, so you'd think it would've been easy to link it. But I have yet to make this work after I've enabled IMAP on my email account, and tried numerous configurations in the IMAP server settings of the Sense mail app. Could anyone offer some help with this issue?
My school email address configuration is: "[email protected]"
Did you try setting up gmail with your school's email address?

Yeah, I've selected the Gmail option when creating a new mail account and entered all the information I had. If it helps any, my browser's url says "mail.google.com" when I'm logged into my school's email account. I've tried "imap.mail.google.com" and "mail.google.com" along with "pride.hofstra.edu" and "imap.pride.hofstra.edu" in the IMAP server settings, but still no luck.
Try forwarding your school email account to another email account. I had this same problem and I just forwarded to my gmail account and everything is good now.
incoming server is imap.gmail.com if you're using gmail app/servers, and port 993 with SSL
@op, just call ur skool's tech team or whatever n have them help u with that. I had to do the same since the incoming and outgoing servers r diff, and have diff port #s. All this I dint know n I was wondering y my setups never worked.

Dude... you guys are making this 100 times more complicated than it actually is.
Enter it as a gmail account WITH NO SPECIAL SETTINGS and just enter your school email address for the gmail id, then enter your password as usual.
I did this for my work email and it worked in two seconds.

I've tried entering my information without any settings and the same issue about being verify IMAP settings appears. I entered "imap.gmail.com" and, strangely, it says that my username/pass is invalid. I tried logging into my account via the regular gmail.com and it says it my name/pass is incorrect (weird?). I suppose I could just forward my school email to my regular Gmail as a second option.
I think this issue might be more complicated than it seems, since my school is somewhat known for its poor competency when integrating tech into its network. I suppose the incoming and outgoing servers are different or something. I'll ask around at tech support when I go back in a few weeks and see if I can get this cleared up. Btw, I'm actually a student staff member of my school's tech support team. Albeit, I was only recently hired. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!
Just enter [email protected] as a Google account under menu, settings, accounts and sync.
To access it via web it should be https://my.hofstra.edu/cp/home/displaylogin?service=/mobile/index.jsp
Yes you should enable imap and pop settings. You can also configure your main Google account to send and receive for your edu account. I have like 5 emails routed through my main gmail.

Just tried that, and it says that the password is invalid. I only need to sign in once for my school account to access all my services. There's also no mobile version for login either. And my IMAP and POP settings are both enabled on the regular desktop version. I guess I'll just route my mail through Gmail. Sounds much easier to do!
I also just had my school's emails forwarded to my Gmail account. I haven't had any problems this way and it took two seconds.

Are you typing in the full email address or only the id? You need the full email. Password may also be case sensitive.

It doesn't work for me at all. I have to use k9 to access my company mail..
No problems at all, I'm connected to an exchange 2003 server and an exchange 2010 server (home and work accounts).
Are you able to receive emails?

What mail account type is it? Hotmail, exchange, etc...
Do you enter it manually?
Probably the port is wrong. Or your provider doesn`t support imap without a premium account.
Guys I've trying to get my phone to send emails since I've had it. I can receive emails but can't send any!! I've tried looking on web for answers even gone to internet provider for help,I've searched forums but still can't get my one s to work. I'm using what came with phone any help would be great

Cox POP has different settings for incoming and outgoing. Search your provider's site for the proper settings.

been on virgins site used there settings still wont send emails.
just tried again to set up emails and it says on phone can not connect to server/server not responding, if i finish the set up i can receive emails but still cant send any
After you find the server name you need to find what port they want you to connect to, whether they want/require SSL, and whether you need to enter your user name and password to send mail. To limit SPAM i know a lot of providers require a second login to verify the sender. I tried to look up the settings for you but Virgin operates in many countries with many products. Are you on Virgin Mobile in the US? And the e-mail account is with them (doesn't matter who your cellular provider is.)

I'm on o2 in the UK, I'm using ntlworld.com for emails
the settings should be:
Sending mail (SMTP)
SMTP server name: smtp.ntlworld.com or smtp.virginmedia.com (I see both listed in different places)
SMTP SSL: Enabled
SMTP port: 465
SMTP authentication: Enabled (or 'Password' on Macs)
SMTP username: Full e-mail address, e.g., [email protected]
OR
you can use O2's email smtp server to relay your outgoing messages with these settings:
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
Host Name: smtp.o2.co.uk
User Name: [email protected]
Password: youro2password
Your Advanced settings should look like this...
Outgoing Settings
Use SSL: Off
Authentication: Password
Server Port: 25

I don't think it would matter what device you used previously (even if it was an iphone - everyone makes mistakes .)
