Did you use ROM Manager to install Clockwork Recovery Mod? If so, that's part of your problem, I think, as ROM Manager does not work properly with the G2X. You have to use NVFlasher and the One-Click Recovery Mod to properly install Clockwork Recovery.

Hopefully that will get you on the right track. You may also want to double-check, before doing this, that your phone is correctly rooted.

jocazmaj have a good point - I had to use OMAP4430 tool for this phone to unbrick it and went back to Gingerbread and finally after three or four months (after getting tired of LG's stock firmware), then I finally flashed THIS version (1.25) with CWMR via ADB and now running PAC-man ROM. I will recommend giving OMAP4 flash tool a look - it is found on the development thread for this phone.

Thanx guys. I ended up using LG mobile support tool to reinstall GB. It then gave me the ICS update which I will try and install today see if it will work.

[Q] Recovery (ICS)

Hey i just wanna ask...
I'm using official ICS on my O3D and i want to root using recovery.
I've already installed cmw and twrp on my phone. i'd tried to boot into recovery (by holding volume- and power button, am i wrong?)
but failed and the phone just boot normally.
My question is, is it because i have two recovery, although i'm supposed to install only one of them?
if it's true, how can i uninstall one of them?
i used os hacking tool 1.2 to install it.
Or maybe somebody can tell me another easy method to root the official ics.
Thanks

first install ics bootloader in OS HACKING TOOLS then twerp recovery . after istalling them press and hold volume down and 3D boutton then restart your phone by os hacking tools ,dont free them (voulume down and 3D boutton ) then you will get in to recovery
there is also another way to get into recovery mod easly :
turn on your phone then restart your phone while your phone restarts press and hold volume down and 3D boutton dont free them till your phone starts up you will get into recovery.

Thanks for the help, but just before i read your post, i did something teribble and confusing...

now, everytime i boot, it's always goes to recovery boot.
I've tried to install gb bootloader with os_hacking tools and flash the gb rom, but still didn't work...
can someone help me with this problem?

[Help] Problem With ROMs after Factory Reset

So I have the LG Optimus V and was running a custom Stock ROM. I was going to give it to a friend to use so decided to use the factory reset in the phone...whoops.
I'm using ClockworkMod Recovery v3.2.0.0 and every time I try to install a ROM from the zip file on it it just goes back to Clockwork after a reboot.
I've tried using the ROMs listed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/LG_Optimus_V/ROMs (besides MIUIv4 and LeWa Port) to no avail. I just keep rebooting back into recovery after it says it was a successful install.
I've also tried getting into a workaround using fastboot but I believe the condition my phone is in right now won't allow it. I can't boot up to the fastboot recovery and other issues have arised.
So is there anything I can do or am I boned?
Thanks for reading and any feedback

Are there any other recoveries for your phone
AFAIK new ROMs don't support Clockwork Mod 3.2
Try updating the recovery to the latest one available i.e maybe 4.x for your Optimus V
This problem happened to me some months ago
I reflashed the recovery using terminal emulator

[Q] Phone Freezes On Splash After ROM flashed

Hi,
As you'll no doubt be able to tell, I'm a noob with custom ROM's. .
I have an LG P999 on Wind Mobile in Canada.
I have:
Rooted the device with SuperOneClick
Installed Super User (The Clockworkmod Version)
Installed Clockwork ROM Manager
Followed Instructions to flash Cyanogenmod 7.
Rebooted.
The phone now hangs as soon as the loading screen appears. The screen with the LG logo and blu-ish shapes.
I have tried Removing the battery and replacing it, then restarting the phone holding PWR and - Volume key.
This appears to run the vanilla recovery with very limited options. No sign of Clockworkmod Manager.
LG Support Tool cannot communicate with the device once it starts trying to update ( or perform update recovery).
I have a copy of Miui G2x 1.8.19, but cannot do anything with it.
Can anyone help me identify where I zigged when I should have zagged?
Thanks in advance.
Follow the link and use this process to install clockwork recovery.

From there you can flash whatever ROM.
If your phone remains borked after this process look up g2x cleanup batch or ROM for recovery in the dev section.

TwitchyEye, thanks very much. I followed the info you provided and have regained access to CWM.
I'll try to flash the Miui ROM for P999 and post a reply with my results.
Mission Accomplished
