HTC Sensation .avi (divx/xvid) audio playback stops (solution) - HTC Sensation

Just wondering if anyone has come across the issue when playing back .avi divx files.
Sound stops after a while while watching videos. Only way to fix is to forward the video.
HTC Please fix this issue.
Temporary workaround has been posted below!

have this issue too....called htc ... they said its a known problem wait for an update !!

yep i also notice that i put cars 2 on my phone for my son he was watching for a minute and the sound stop when i forward the movie sound is on again

Yea i had this problem too when playing with doubletwist but i dont seem to have it with diceplayer. Might be just the app u are using.

Problem resolved when using QQPlayer (android market free) video plays smoothly not audio cut outs . I believe its something to do with the decoder on the sensation, as qqplayer uses its own decoder the problem doesn't exist.

Anyway hope HTC fix this issue

Audio dropout when playing AVIs

I am playing AVI files via a couple different players and experiencing the same issue - after an indeterminate (but short) period of time, the audio drops out and the video continues. I have tried Mobo, Meridien, QQ, and the player that launches from Astro. I am not sure what Htc app to use (if any-they seem designed for music or their video store) or if anyone else has seen this problem. The AVIs played fine on a vibrant, so I suspect it's not the files. However, YouTube works fine, so I am at a loss for what to do next. Any thoughts?

Thought it was just me!
Yeah, I am on my second device and still within my 14 day return time frame and have had the same problem on both. I was unsure if it was a glitch in the phone itself at first so I had it replaced in-store, but now I think it may be due to the Sense 3.0 UI. I have until next Friday to decide if I want to keep it and unless HTC opts to unlock the Bootloader, I think it will get returned!
This topic appears on HTCs forum and was created by a different user. It looks like it is affecting some users, now I am curious whether it is widespread or a fluke.

AVI sound issue
Hi, Im on a UK Vodafone branded sensation and am getting this problem. Ive tried the following players:
V Player
Stock
ES Strongs player
Rockplayer
And the audio seems to drop after 30-50 seconds, was playing a 800Mb ish AVI of the hangover. Video carries on and audio returns if I move the time slider, have played .mp4 files with no problems.
dice player
i have same issue - try DICE PLAYER, its working for me
This happens around 1:38 into an AVI file, it seems to only happen if you are using the hardware (or system) decoder, if you use a player that has software decoder available then there is no problem. I use QQplayer and let it do QQplayer decoder or auto in the settings and AVI plays fine. This does chew up extra battery though so I have just been converting files to MP4 using Handbrake LOL
Try Diceplayer.
Dice is the best player for Sensation.
Diceplayer can play 720p H.264 + DTS/OGG/FLAC MKV file.
longer battery life.

Playing movies....

So I have an issue where I play a movie off my phone and within like 30 seconds ~ 1 min, the audio dies and the way to fix is to scroll to another part of the movie and it plays again for 30 seconds ~ 1 min. I have a mix of avi mp4 movies. Anyone else have this issue?? Thank you in advance!
It's an issue that several people have, including me. I also have some AVI's that the audio gets very distorted on, but don't cut out.
It has to do with the CODECs I believe, as other types of files will play perfectly well.

That kinda makes sense....thanks for the reply....wonder if someone knows what we are supposed to re-encode the movies at.
Did you tried vplayer, I am using it and never had problems like this.

I installed MX Video Player from the market, and it still goes silent. Then I went into MX Video Player's options and changed it from Hardware Decoding to Software decoding, and now I can play ones that would fail every time within a minute.
Give it a try.

[Q] Video playback

Hey guys,
Trying to setup my GFs phone with some media to watch while at the gym, and I can get everything on there fine and use different players to watch it, but I noticed no matter the player there's a significant frame drop/stuttering in the playback, especially when compared to my S2.
Anybody else notice any choppiness when playing back media? Only tested with divx TV shows downloaded from the web (playback from phones camera seems to be fine.)
Thoughts?
Hrmmm. Not sure. I use MX video player for playback and have been happy. This is mostly for flash video and camcorder on phone, but I haven't tried any divx. For the most part everything is fairly smooth.

I use handbrake to knock mine down to the proper size and have zero issues, I also use mine on the treadmill. Beats the heck out of the TV. I use realplayer
I use mx video player too. It works great but sometimes the video freezes and you have to hit back and select the video again. But that's only on software decoding.
If you convert the video to MPEG you can use h/w decoding which fixes that and seems to make the battery last longer.

MoboPlayer works great for me.
Mx player is great, set to sw fast decode and it run very smooth. It support subtitle, interface is nice and easy to use.

Problem playing videos

Okay, now that's strange. Today I updated my P5113 to UEBLH3 (newest official version) and that strange problem still exists.
H/W acc video codecs seem to dissapear after short using of the tab. When I restart sometimes I can play videos, sometimes it says "Sorry, this video cannot be played." Mostly affected are DivX and xVid avi files. Other players don't work in HW mode also. I hoped that updating to latest firmware would fix the problem, but apparently it's still here for me.
Is there anybody else who experiences something like that?
Try dice player work good with hardware acceleration

Thats not the point. The question is how come system video codecs stop working just like that? They arent accessible from other players also. Like the OS doesnt support HW acc. I want to use stock video player since its the best player for me (and plays all videos FULL screen)

[Q] Soft-subbed mkv video playback problem

Hello fellow GNOTE 10.1 users,
Idk if anyone else tried it but when I try to play some soft subbed 720p videos (mostly anime videos with eng subtitles) the stock media player could only play audio and the best I can have some laggy playback using BsPlayer free. So, does anyone know a way to solve this problem? Is it a much broader problem in Android devices in general that has not been soIved yet or does some certain magical codec pack do the trick?

Try mx player and install codecs for arm v7

Nope, it is laggy as hell, the video and the audio go out of sync awfully frequently. By the way, I have tried many 1080p movies and they worked seamlessly before, so my unit is definitely not at fault here. Any other suggestions?

Try both hw/sw /hw + acceleration. If it doesn't work. Then the last chance is in dice player those are the best 3 players in market, but don't worry it is definitely not the device's problem it is software issue

Tried both. in hw it does not even show the video and in sw the problems I've pointed out persists. I've tried many different players before -dice as well and it was BsPlayer which gave the best performance. Though as I said, it is also laggy.
Thanks for your time and suggestions.
Yeah, I have the same problem. Looks like I will have to extract all the subs....no other player worked....
Edit: I tried another animes from other sub groups and some of them are working, like from gg and gotspeed, no luck with coomie and utw though, I gotta look at it, maybe theres problem with the format of the subs.
Guys, after the long struggle, I found the remedy! Just install archos video player and its codec pack and that's it. 10-bit video playback problem is gone forever.
