Am I the only one who have issue installing Skype 2.0?
I tryed both updating it and reinstalling it from market and installing it from apk (found one in Samsung forum). Both fail.

For me the installation went fine, after that trouble started. Not much stable. And even after sign-out, keeps running in the background, hides from application list, and restarts if killed from shell (or some advanced task killer). Contemplating to go back to previous version.
@kousik: I got "stop Skype" for free from the market. Stops it nicely. Maybe that helps.

Hi.
Major issues with Market. Nothing downloading. Just the bar and starting download message.
Tried force stop, cache cleaning, reboots. No joy.
Ideas?
After new FB and Twitter apps.

Same problem
Same problem with galaxy s, instaling app for 3 days now . can't stopit.
i've had this issue quite a bit on my incredible. usually cures itself by switching from wifi to 3g or the other way around. whichever you're on right now, try the other one.
Done that Mike. No change.

Go to applications market and uninstall updates.
Works fine here....
No updates to uninstall for the Market. Came as is.
I switched from Dinc to Droid X recently and encountered this problem pretty much out of the box. I believe I ended up clearing cache or data from the Gmail application and then Market downloads started to work correctly.
I just went to update an app that i have and Market Force Closed.
still downloaded ok though
I have a funny feeling this was an all around Android Market issue for many people... I had it too but now it seems to have cleared up...
You could try Titanium backup and the clear data option after tapping the market app.
It worked for me
my fix for this exact same problem (as described in the OP's first post) was to factory reset my phone (galaxy s) and log in using the @googlemail.com extension to my google email address instead of the usual @gmail.com
if that makes sense.. search google for a few other threads floating around with people who solved their market download "stalling" with this fix..
might be worth a try for you anyway.
I installed this. When I start it, it asks for your username and password and then gets stuck "checking for updates". The program never fully starts. Anyone notice this as well or have any ideas for a fix?
I get this too. I assumed it was because I don't have a premium Sirius acct to allow for online listening. Do you have this?
Yes, I have a premium account, it works on my phone and ipod touch.
The same thing happens to me. Mine gets stuck in the screen after I login.
It used to work for me on an early TnT Lite mod, but hasn't worked in a long time. I try it with every mod I put on m G-Tab but so far, its been no good.

SiriusXM app
I had the same issue with my nookcolor, where it was spinning on checking for updates. I'm not certain on the Viewsonic G, whether it has full market access natively, but in the case of the nookcolor, the sirius app did not work until I added gmail/android market capabilities (which are not present without rooting).
I am on version 1.1.0 of the Sirius app.
I'm seeing the same stuck at ""Checking for Updates" problem on the new Elocity A7 tablet and I am a premium member too. All other radio apps appear to work fine, Slacker, pandora, rdio.
I'm using the 1.1 app from Goog market
I just bought a droid 2 global for my girlfriend and I am trying to figure out what apps would be safe to disable/backup. After the update her phone has been quite sluggish and it's driving me nuts listening to her complain. I figure the VZW apps can go, skype as well, cityid for sure, then i dont know after that. Whatever is bloatware and safe to remove I would like to.
pretty much everything except backup assistant but make a backup of the .apks because for future OTA updates you will need them
From all the apps installed, only CityID, Skype Mobile and Amazon MP3 are constantly lurking in memory (beside backup assistant of course). There might be one news widget that stays resident too.
Be careful what you disable though as if you kill something crucial phone may not boot. CityID, skype mobile and amazon are safe to disable. Keep them around shall you want to apply future OTA updates from Verizon/Motorola.

Root. Buy titanium back up. Back up. Then freeze or full on remove the programs. You can also use rom manager or another app that "fixes permissions" (a mac does the same thing using disc manager) and then reboot... that seems to make everything jive better.
Or (without root) you can download task killer (ax Droid) and put the widget on the home screen for her. I always remind her to turn it off at least once a day too.

I should say, I haven't tried to remove anything just freezer a bunch but I will and get back to you. Cheers!

I backed up CityID, AmazonMP3, and Skype through ADB. I also fixed permissions and things seem a bit smoother.
I was also able to backup and uninstall skybe, amazon mp3, and city ID. I wasn't able to uninstall blockbuster or kindle... but the three mentioned above worked fine for me. Cheers.

I stupidly forgot to uncheck auto updates for the programs I said I cldnt remove. I was able to back them up and uninstall once I unchecked auto update in the market and removed all updates to the apps - no problem. Phone runs fine with the third party bloatware removed. Cheers.

But where is the system update located? I checked on the verizon website and there is nothing there. Also, do you have to be a verizon customer to get the update?

Hi folks, I'm running the Tiamat 1.3.2. I also have the Honey Bee boot screen installed.
I'm not sure why, but the Market keeps FCing on me. I'm trying to load an app but just before it starts to installs, the market closes on me.
Meanwhile, apps that are trying to update are stalled. I uninstalled the ones that were trying to upload hoping that I could then load a new app, but no luck. Also, I couldn't uninstall them from the market, I had to use the Xoom app manager.
Any ideas?
Try uninstalling updates. Settings -> Managage Applications -> My Apps -> Uninstall Updates
I recently flashed the new Virtuous Quattro ICS ROM from the Desire HD thread and it works great except for the obvious camera issues (Had to flash a couple files for the audio and tinny sound fix) . My question is why are my apps not automatically showing up in the market when I select My Apps. It actually shows about 12 which makes it even more odd. I thought at first it might be because the apps aren't compatible with ICS, but i can manually search them and download them. I've had this happen once before when flashing a Coredroid ROM. Is there an easy answer to why this happens and possibly an even easier solution to fix it?
Try clearing market data then rebooting a few times or if you use TiBu(paid), use the market doctor feature then reboot a few times.
Apparently there is a new market with the ICS build as there is no option for clearing the cache or data. It should be under settings in the market correct?

No, go to menu-settings-applications-all tab and select market, clear from there.
This also presupposes that ICS is setup this was. I haven't used it but this is how it's done in GB.

Also remember that the market only keeps track of paid apps. It doesn't store free apps.
