[Q] Alarm to set off 2 hours before an Event - General Questions and Answers

I like to track my work hours via my Google Calendar (in its own calendar called Work Shifts).
So, what would be super cool would be if any knows of an app that would allow me to be able to make the phone sound an alarm (not a notification, a proper alarm like you get in the Clock app) a set time before the event, say 2 hours.
My shifts change often, but I would like to definitely know I have a work shift when they're in the afternoon and the alarm to wake me up in the mornings in time for work.
If anyone knows of such an app, please let me know!
And no, I can't be bothered to set up multiple alarms in the Clock as my shifts will change weekly.

Have you tried using Latitude? It will tell your how many hours per week you spend at home, work & out.

Latitude has nothing to do with alarms... I don't want to know how long I've been there, I need an alarm to set off two hours before my shift... That's all.

HTC Home - Automatic Profile

I can't find a help file for HTC Home anywhere, and I don't think this has been posted... anyone know what the last ringer profile is in HTC Home? It says "Automatic" at the top but I have no idea what that means.
I think that u can specify when it changes from ring to vibrates based on day and time...cant work out how to set it up though. If someone who knows could explain would be awesome

I think that when this profile is selected the device vibrates during appointments defined in the calendar and rings otherwise. But I have never tested.

Yes, that's what it does.
It goes changes when you have an appointment that is set to busy and changes back when it's over.

Almost but not quite. It goes to vibrate whenever there is an (so any, not just busy) appointment in the calendar and goes back when not. The idea of an automatic profile is great but it's executed rather ****ty in this case. Whenever I have a birthday on my calendar for example, my phone will be on vibrate all damn day.
If someone knows a fix, please enlighten us.
I tried it today... I checked before class ended and it was on vibrate. After class ended it was still on vibrate... does it change over when a call comes in? I'd love to be able to rely on this but I don't need to impress my professors with Kanye West ringtones...
BTW: Does the phone have an "immediate silence" button like most do? I know on my Moto and Samsung phones the side buttons usually did the trick... immediately silence the ringer but still allow it to go to voicemail?

If you really want a function like that, you're probably better off with something like phoneAlarm or some other freeware. They tend to have more options as to how you want it to function.
I have a similar question - I always keep my Tilt set on "Vibrate", but when I enter a new appt. in Calendar, it switches by itself to "Ringtone", and I have to keep switching it back. Any suggestions about how to keep it on "Vibrate" would be greatly appreciated!
Hi,
has anyone yet got an answer to this!!
I also found the similar issue. I have lot of birthdays / holidays and other all day events in my calendar and automatic profile always goes to vibrate mode whenever I have any all day event in my calendar!!
Is there anyways I can set it to switch to vibrate only if my calendar status is busy and not for other events/appointments when status is not busy??
Thanks.

Unfortunately not with HTC Home. It's pretty stupid in its implementation of a very nice feature.
+1, I used a lot this feature on my smartphone where sound profiles were implemented by WM, but now I am on a pdaphone with htc manila 2D and I have the same problem: vibrate mode on any appointment, even if it's a free appointment. Too bad Maybe someone is able to write a small tool to perform automatic profile in right way? Or find any msdn doc so I could try to write it in with .NET... I've searched a little on how to switch the sound profile but with no success.

I've had similar experience - automatic profile is totally unreliable on every wm 5, 6, & 6.1 phone I've tried it on. Sometimes it works and sometimes it "forgets."

I think you'd better use the Spb phone suite. The automatic profiles from Spb works perfect on appointment (based on busy status of busy or out of office...). Also it provides the time based profile which will switch profile upon the setting time frame. I have used this software for almost 1 year and felt very happy with it.

Best Repeat Alarm Clock app?

I wanted to use the stock alarm for my X10 mini pro, but it ONLY sounded off once and DOES NOT REPEAT. As a result, I got a warning letter from my work for going to work late.
Now, I'm having trouble finding a good alarm clock, that sounds off the alarm and repeats UNTIL dismissed.. can anyone reccommend me?
if you Snooz it and not Dismiss it will go off again in 15min, that is all i do with my X10

Yeah, Kaloer clock is amazing. Check it out
Android Variations: Check em out!
Math Alarm Clock (the one I use)
One of the best apps EVER.
Also, if you can get good night sleeps get Smart Alarm Clock (it detects by movements the phase of sleep you are so I wakes you up on REM ) (it kindda work, but BLOWS MY BATTERY)
i use "Alarm Klock"(free on the market) :
you can param snooze timer, use MP3 as sound, progressive volume(settable), vabrate (or not), set label name for each alarm ...
For snooze : there a giant button
to stop the alarm, there a button ton slide (like to unlock an iPhone)
im having the same problem after i got the OTA update (on rogers network in canada btw)
the alarm would go silence on its own after a minute of going off, and then it doesnt repeat
:S
How about setting a couple of alarms with the stock app instead of one?
I use shaketowake.
Have to shake every morning about 20 times, and shake it hard for 1 alarm. Believe me you will wake up. First time it took 5 min to shake.
Kaloer clock was working perfectly before the OTA update.
After the update....its a bit slow and not as responsive.
Do you guys have the same issue with it?

How Sense Ruined My Day

So coming from a Nexus One I learned to rely on voice commands. I would always set the alarm by saying "set alarm for 6am" or whatever time I needed to wake up.
When I got my Sensation I learned that the voice commands work on it as well and that HTC didn't force me to use that Cybertron program (or something like that.) So I set it a few times and it was working fine.
Until last night, when I tried setting the alarm. Everything went fine, I said to my phone "set alarm for 7am" and cast off to slumberland... and that's when I didn't wake up.
As it turns out HTC has forced a limit of 10 alarms with their stupid skinning. And if you try to set an alarm using voice commands with these 10 alarms already there you won't get any error messages.
So moral of the story, if you plan on using Sense, and you use your phone as an alarm clock, always remember to remove the old alarms.
That does suck, but who needs 10 alarms?!
That's terrible dude! hope you didn't have anything too important to get to this morning
you could have just manually set the alarm....
whoops! That's good to know! Just in time, as I do the same thing... and woah, just hit 10 alarms!
You're a life saver!
10alarms!?

They probably mean, 10 times they set their alarm, as in history rather than setting 10 separate alarms. Sort of like, old mail...
Matt
From my understanding I don't think the OP has 10 alarms that he's using constantly but setting a brand new alarm for each time he needs one.
I can't seem to get text message voice command to work since I switched to htc

As a previous poster stated. I don't use 10 alarms at once, but I just never clear them.
You can set an alarm through voice?
Doesnt work for me!
It just googles set alarm for 5am.

Lol. I'll add this one to the list of reasons I'm compiling for why Cyanogenmod is better than sense.

All Day Calendar Notifications Not Working

All of my all day calendar notifications go off hours after they are suppose to. I have tried using multiple different calendar apps (stock, google calendar, today calendar, etc). They all do the exact same thing. If an all day notification is suppose to go off at 9AM it will alert me at 6PM. Calendar events that are set for a certain time work fine. Anyone have a fix for this?

You need to go in Advanced setting>Battery Manager>Protected Apps and turn protection on for the Application in question or it won't run i the back ground.
Backup, Hard reset, restore.
Try setting battery mode to performance to see if it still happens.
Protect app in phone manager, battery.

I don't think that it helps. Reminders of "usual" events works perfectly. Only reminders of All-day events are notified in wrong times. Of course, Google calendar is set as protected app..
You could try it to rule those causes out.

Pretty sure it's a bug with the software app, as mine is experiencing it as well. Hopefully can be fixed with a software update.

Today I did a factory reset to see if that would help my time delay problem. Unfortunately, it did not. However what I did notice is that when I set a calendar reminder to go off at 9AM on my phone it shows up as 12AM on my Google Calendar.

Is your phone's time zone the same as your Google calendar?
I don't experience such issue on my phone, so I guess it's not really a software bug.....

The time zone is correct. I called Huawei and they said they did not know why it was happening and that I would have to send my phone in. However, they could to guarantee anything.
The issue is still not fixed....
I also have an Honor 8 and when I set an alarm for an all-day event, the alarm goes off 9 hours after the initial setting. For example, if I set an alarm to go off at 6pm it will actually go off at 3am which is annoying and woke me up in the middle of the night. I am glad I am not the only person with this problem. Hopefully there will be a fix. In the meantime, I just have to adjust the alarm to a time that is 9 hours before I actually want it to go off.

That issue drives me nuts, to the point I got a new phone. Problem Solved! I will never buy another Honor phone.
the all day events have a notification time calculated as in "X day(s) before the event, at specific hour Y" ....from what I can see on my notifications huawei wrongly interpret this as "X day(s) before the event + Y hour(s) before the event" . In my case, for example, when I set on Google Calendar (web) for an all day event notification for that specific day at 9AM setting "0(zero) days before , at 10AM" huawei calendar show it as "0 days before and -10 hours before" (-10 hours before should be exactly 10 hours after which is 10AM) but the notifications is displayed 9 hours later than it should (7PM). Also the "at the start of the event" seems to be 9 hours off ( notification at 9AM ). I had no time to do extensive testing , but seems to be something wrong with the calendar backend on the huawei phones firmware as installing different Calendar apps (including the official Google Calendar app) don't solve the "all day events" notification problem (I have a P10 , bug is present in both 7.0 and 8.0beta Android versions) .....And , it seems that "all day events" that have notifications set 1 (or more) days before and no specific hour, work as expected (or maybe I just didn't noticed the bug on this ones due to not being so critical to have a specific hour 1 week before the event for example ) .

alarm clock not ringing

Anyone get problem with alarm not running?
I got notification that there is upcoming alarm but never started to ring.
This used to happen on my 6T, could never find out why. I just ended up freezing the stock Clock app and installed Google Clock, which worked.
Since I switched to the 7 Pro, I haven't had the issue.

Having the same issue with no volume on alarms. Did some searching this morning and did not have any luck.
Not sure I understand the concept of "Freezing" with the 1+7 pro. Can you explain in a little more detail?
Are there any known issues if I "disable" the stock clock app and use the Google Clock?
thanks in advance,
I use smart alarm free and works amazing

Yeah i was having the same problem, now using timely app and also samsung clock on my old note 5
I have been a long Google clock user. Used timely (for its ability to sync over multiple devices) for a while but I also found I like to keep some things simple. With simplicity in mind, I am trying to address the low alarm volume with the stock app and have been doing some work on the stock clock app. In settings, all the way at the bottom is the "increasing volume" toggle. When I disable this setting, my alarms behave normally. Meaning, when my alarm goes off at 06:00, it wakes me up, with the alarm I have selected. This operates the same with timers and anything else that uses the alarm volume (Interestingly, when BT is connected, the volume is still decreased but one problem at a time).
Are some of you willing to check and see if you have the same outcome?
thanks in advance.
I have 2 alarms that go off in the morning. The first one never rings but the second does.
Just got my phone yesterday, so I tried the stock clock. Turned volume up to Mac and went to sleep.
Didn't hear it, and I was late to work. I'm going back to Google clock as well.

Beyond using another clock app? Not sure. Its been posted to the 1+ community boards. Little action there though.
This is a really weird issue. On mine only the first alarm wouldn't ring, then none. I installed the Google Alarm and it would sound for the second alarm but today didn't at all.
I wonder if it's something to do with hibernation?

Interesting thought. If you go into battery optimization the stock clock app is not even listed. I switched Google Clock over to "Don't optimize." might as well give it a try.
I'll report back in a couple days,
