[Q] Case consideration - 4 year old will handle this once in a while - Samsung Infuse 4G

It never fails that my my phone is an entertainment device for my 4 year old at times, I am thinking of the casemate tough case - Tough Case
Although I would prefer the barely there or similar thin case. How durable is the phone in drops? I am coming from the super fragile iphone 4, so I may be overly concerned?

I would go with the Ballistic case that ATT sells in the ATT Wireless stores. Very durable but easy enough for you to take it out and put it back in for desk or care docks.

Otterbox is making a case for this guy, looks pretty sharp and doesn't seem too bulky, worth consideration. I have 3 kids myself so having a durable case is key. Here is the link
http://www.otterbox.com/Samsung-Infuse-4G-Defender-Series-Case/SAM2-INFUS,default,pd.html?dwvar_SAM2-INFUS_color=20&start=1&cgid=samsung-infuse-4g-cases

I am a huge Case Mate Tough case fan. I have had them on my last 4 phones. It will protect from drops. I like that the rubber insert isnt really sticky and for what it does it is slim.

If you're looking for a thinner case, look at the Case Mate Pop...it's fairly thin, and has soft rubber inside with a hard plastic outside...all one piece. Should provide the shock protection you're looking for while still being fairly thin. It's similar to Speck Candyshell cases if you're familiar with those.

[Q] What case should I buy?!

hey,
I'm thinking buying a case for my SGS.
I have some case on my mind and I hope maybe someone can help me decide which one I should get. If you how much thickness the case would add to the phone and if it provides a good protect to the phone.
the cases are:
1) SGP Case ULTRA SILKE
2) Case-mate Tough Case
3) Tuff-Luv Slim&Lite Silicone skin case
4) PDair Luxury Silicone Case
thanks.
none of the above
well maybe the tough case
but you can get non bran name tough case on ebay for way less
after trying out many cases, i still like the Mesh Case from Korea better good quality build, and looks amazing on the phone
they have a metal look to it, even though it's hybrid plastic/rubber
i have a tough case at home, it's collecting dust, it doesn't look good on the phone
but it does protect the phone if that is what you want
but if you prefer better looks then the Korean have better choices
I recently got the tough case from case mate and it's pretty awesome. It's great because I know that my phone will be protected if I drop it. I'm not a big fan of the silicon cases simply that you won't get much protection from them if you drop your phone..
My only gripe about the tough case is that it does add a bit of bulk to the phone and makes it a bit more difficult to carry in your pocket. That's the trade off for drop protection though

Thinnest "Tough" Case?

Hi everybody, this is my first post on these forums, although I have been reading them for over a year! Anyways, I was looking at buying a case for my Sensation that would keep it safe, but at the same time not adding to much bulk. I have narrowed it down to 4 cases, that I'm sure will all offer the level of protection I need, I am just wondering which one is the least bulky and slimmest.

I was looking at the Seidio with the kickstand, but I don't like all the exposed rubber as that would make it more lint-prone, and more difficult to get out of the pocket(one of my top pritorities).
Thanks in advance!!!

the otterbox's rubber on its case looked low grade compared to the seidios and case mates. it looked like what trident was using..
i was looking into the naztech but i didnt like how there is a bar on the top of the screen lol. id like to see a review on it. might get the case mate pop
If it helps your decision I had one otterbox which I had to have replaced thru otterbox due to silicone stretches and the phone will actually slide up and down in the case. had the replacement for about a month and just took off the second one today due to complaints of me sounding muffled and any back to the old dependable tpu case even though it is a ***** to get out my pocket and attracts lint it is my fave

Yeah it was super easy due to the hard plastic that covered the silicone layer that is one thin I miss about it and am still on the fence about putting it back on. I will say my phone survived a few high drops ( I am a cable tech and it fell from a ladder about 18 feet to concrete with out a scratch)

Wow, you just made my decision harder.... !!! Haha thanks though, i'm sure i can't go wrong with either of these cases, but I just want to know which is the best.
OK, I'm pretty sure that the Tough Case and Vertex are out:
Tough Case: I saw that the rubber wraps around the screen on the phone, and can attach lint, also, it does seem a bit bulky.
Vertex: Lack of information is difficult. From the pics I don't think it'll work out for me.
Personally I use zagg skins now. They are seriously epic. I have always hated all phone cases because of the bulk they add no matter how thin. But the zagg skins are tough...real tough. And add essentially no weight/thickness to the device. When I got mine i was trying to scratch the back and screen to no avail. zagg also offers a lifetime warranty, but I have no idea what their limits are on it. Plus you can customize it with any picture you want.
Just my opinion. Good luck with your choice.
I have both Case Mate POP and Otterbox Commuter... otterbox has far better plastic because it cant get scratched at all. The case mate pop looks like it's 10 years old after a week. Still I user POP rather than the otterbox because the rubber on otterbox is like a MAGNET for all the dirt that is around you. I used to clean the rubber, and put it in my pocket, and when I get it out it's entirely covered with dust... I don't even know what were they thinking when they were making it. Another thing about the otterbox is that the earphone jack cover never fits like it is supposed to.
I ordered this a week ago because it looks funny
http://www.case-mate.com/HTC-Sensat...-Sensation-Sensation-SE-Tut-Silicone-Case.asp
I will order the case mate tough also... I hope that will be what I want at last
Wow, thanks for the info! So which one of those has a thinner/less bulky form factor, and is easier to get in/out of your pocket?
Case
I bought a Yoobao case off of Ebay, I love it. It is very tough and thin holds the phone tight.
Ehh, thanks for the info, but I already have a TPU and while it is nice and slim, I want something with a little more protection.
I'll put my two cents in, I just got the vertex and I'm very impressed. I've had the commuter and didn't like it. The plastic seemed cheap to me and was too slick. I also had a tpu case that was ok but I didn't think it would protect very well and made the power difficult to press. The vertex is quality, looks and feels very nice and fits great.

Hi, thanks for the input! Does the back material make it easy to get in & out of pockets easily? And also, is it thinner than your otterbox?

Haven't tried the Case Mates yet, nor the Seidio, BUT:
Naztech is a POS - crappy build, plain & simple.
Otterbox's silicone is too damn loose - quoting others here.
Just saying......
Well, I've been on these forums reading for about 5 months now, but this is my first post...
I've had the Casemate Tough Case for the same amount of time I've had my Sensation; about 5 months.
The tough case's hard backing makes it very easy to slip in and out of your pocket. The only exposed rubber is a small section at the top and bottom of the phone and a very thin rim around the screen, the rest is the hard plastic. I never notice that it's collecting lint\dirt, except when I remove the case, there is a small rim of dust collected under the rubber rim, but you can't see it until the case is off.
The exposed rubber parts always look clean and smooth, same goes for the hard plastic outer shell.
The farthest I've dropped my phone with the case on is off the bar... so maybe 4 feet or so? No damage to the phone or the case.
I haven't tried out any other smartphone cases, so I don't have a large frame of reference, but I haven't had a single issue with the tough case. Hope this helps!

Have you actually tried the naztech case? I'm sitting here right now literally starting at it trying to find a problem with something and I can't. I can't compare it with the tough case but its better than the otter.
Like I said before, and I don't know if this even matters, the naztech has cut outs for all the holes on the back cover, none of the other two piece cases have that feature.
As far as the plastic, the naztech has a rubberized back which makes it easier to hold than the otter but still slides into a my pocket easy.
i think you guys should check momax case....
For what it's worth...
I picked up one of these on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055DHCKS/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
Inexpensive, fits very well, easy to slip on and off, isn't a lint magnet, reminds me of the great Boxwave slip cover I had on my Nexus One.
Highly recommended.

Acase VS Seidio

So I'm having some trouble deciding whether Acase's Superleggero would be better or if Seidio's Active case would be better.
The price is not a concern, so budget is not a factor in the decision of which case is superior.
Neither is bulk, as I'm trying to get a case that is rugged and can withstand falls, and the front lip is especially important as I am more concerned about dropping the phone on its front than its back.
Does anyone have personal experience with either of these cases?
And if you use a case that you think is better, tell me and why it's better... I'm having so much trouble deciding what case to get for my Nexus 4.
BTW: Don't post anything about bumpers. I can't stand bumpers.
I haven't used the active, but I have used the acase and the convert by seidio. They are both great. I love that the convert can be a small case or heavy duty case.
Both are great, but the convert is definitely heavier duty.

i don't have experience with seidio on my n4, but i did use a seidio active on my thunderbolt.
i'm currently using the acase supperleggera on my n4.
i prefer the acase. while i agree with gmurphy in that the seidio probably does add just a bit more protection and feels more heavy duty, it does so at the expense of adding bulk to the phone. in my opinion, the acase offers plenty of protection (far more than any bumper or other single-piece snap-on solution), but it's still pretty damn slim and sexy. i am using it with an sgp ultraoleophobic screen protector on the front and an ultra crystal on the back. there is no interference. i haven't tried the case with a wet application sp of any kind.
i think the only negative i can possibly think of regarding the acase is the design of the back of the case. it's perfectly flat with no bumps/nubs. this means that when you lay your phone down screen-side up, the speaker is muffled quite a bit. i deal with it because the case is gorgeous and i'm paranoid about drops.
I can tell you for sure the acase can withstand a fall to pavement. I dropped mine this morning from about 4 feet and the phone took zero damage. The case only got a few nicks.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
More concerned about dropping the phone on it's front.
The Seidio looks like it's got more of a lip than the Acase, so that's what I ended up ordering. When it arrives I'll make a video for it.
I am definitely curious myself about this comparison. Since there's no official Otterbox case, the Acase and the Seidio Active were my next choices. Can't wait for the video. I was leaning towards the Seidio case because the music wouldn't be muffled while the phone is on its back because of the hump from the kickstand.

Otterbox Commuter case vs UAG case?

I currently have an otterbox Commuter case and I think it's on the bulky side. Would getting something like the UAG case be better and offer the same protection from drops? I'd assume that the thicker the case is the more protected?
The UAG case -

after reading about fake UAG cases I'm reluctant to buy one from Amazon unless it is ship and sold by Amazon. last year I unknowingly bought a fake Speck Candyshell case for my wife's S3 that was only fulfilled by Amazon. Their current prices seem too good to be true for a case that was released 2 months ago.

I always buy directly from Amazon for this reason. It's worth the few extra dollars. What is your opinion on the cases I mentioned?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda premium
I don't like the UAG, which I think is overrated. I had one on a previous phone and I didn't like it all. The plastic feels cheap. The top and bottom edges of the case are not hard plastic, only the sides are. Adds bulk.
I always like Speck Candyshells, which I had on previous devices. I immediately got a Candyshell for my S4.
Pros:
-hard plastic on all 4 edges
-slim
Cons:
-scratches show easily on dark color models
-slippery, but there's a grip model
Protection is good. I had it on my Galaxy Note 2 (which is 41% heavier than the S4) and dropped it a few times without any resulting damage.
The Otterbox is too bulky. I would only get that if I worked in construction or similar.
Read this thread. I have both but overall I feel the uag is the better case. I know rock the element eclipse case.

For as boring as Otterbox cases are they are in my opinion still the most well built cases out there. I have a commuter case right now and one of the samsung cases as well, I havent seen another case that will protect as well as the commuter that is as well built. On a side note the commuter case with the Spigen Glas.t nano is amazing.
I had the commuter with my GS2 and I have the UAG case on my GS4, but I have seen the commuter for the GS4 in person.
From what I read, the biggest risk to the phone is the screen breaking, and apparently, the greatest chance of this happening is when the phone is dropped and it lands on a corner. The UAG case has extra protection on the corners more so than for the commuter.
Personally I like the UAG case because it is lighter and not as bulky and offers just as good if not better corner impact protection. The lip around the screen is not at high as the commuter, but it is enough that if you put the phone screen side down, it is elevated off a flat surface.
Otter box is bad lol. Ruins the phone. Worsens signal to. Took mine back and got the neo hybrid
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda premium
Thanks you guys. Very helpful. I ordered the UAG case.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda premium
Rofl what, does not affect the signal at all. The commuter is rubber in the corners and hard plastic everywhere else. No different than the UAG. The UAG is one piece vs commuter two piece, so count that as a pro or con with your preference. I believe the screen is better protected on the front ie a larger lip on the front face. Just dont go saying silly things like it affects the signal.

Best Case

Any Body know what the best case is for protection?

Generic TPU cases are usually good.
Case
I think Urban Army Cases are very good. They are very solid!
A friend of mine use an AVIZAR waterproof case and a BEYOND CELL TRI SHIELD HYBRID (not on the same time )
He is happy with the two.
i think it depends on how you use your phone. i usually prefer the ultrathin tpu case but now i'm using Seidio Obex Waterproof Case and it worked as i expected before
IMHO the best case for s4 is go naked and not using any case
Otter box has a new line that I am very impressed with. The symmetry line is like the the commuter in that it is silicone and hard plastic. But it's one piece making it much less bulky. They come in plenty of different colors and has a great raised edge to protect the screen from face down dropping. Which I have done many times. And my second place choice is made by a tactical firearm accessories company, Magpul field case. Up until recently they only made cases for macntrash. It's a little harder than the typical tpa case but flexible enough for installation. And it also has a raised edge and comes in a variety of colors. Looks like one of their p-mags
I use this case for the past two years and i didnt had a single problem
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tech21-Impact-Mesh-Samsung-Galaxy-Clear/dp/B00C70H8WY
Good waterproof case?
I use case Carbon fiber, i feel more durable.
Use the iface mall case(if you drop your phone like a lot)otherwise use what other suggest ??

All the way, Urban Armor Gear with Tempered Glass. Using this combination from quite some time and in the mean time have dropped phone four to five times and no problem arose.
I had a Spigen Slim Armor View Case for a little over a year and I loved it, but the plastic around the volume buttons broke from removing it to change batteries too much.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BW6GHV2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage
This model wasn't available in the color I wanted through Amazon Prime so I ordered the Spigen Neo Hybrid Series.
I live it so far, it's smaller and slimmer than the Silm Armor, it was metal around the edges instead of rubber so the first time the case hits the grounds it's going to scratch, which I don't like. The buttons are a little easier to press with the Neo Hybrid but the opening for the charger cable is a little small, I have to shave down some of the micro USB cables to fit.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BYJXGP2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00
Some of the cases mentioned above provide a lot more protection but they are way too big for me.
I have a Cellular Line cover. I bought it almost 2 years ago and my phone is still in perfect conditions.
