No need to update anything if you're already rooted. Just follow BRD's guide and you'll be good to go.

[Q] Cannot install/update new version of Google Maps & Gmail

I noticed that there are new version of google maps 5.7.0 & gmail 2.3.5.
I don't know why I cannot update them on my Xoom. My Xoom is on 3.2 Tiamat ROM.
Can somebody help me to update it ?
Thanks
You need to be root. Follow this post for Maps Update.

No root, 3.1 3g xoom
Gmail on the market isn't compatible with my xoom. What up with that?

My xoom has already got rooted . I've also already tried the method. The problem is I cannot find any googlemaps in the market.
The GMail on the market is for anything up to Android 2.3.4 only since your Xoom has Gmail 3.2 which is newer than 2.3.4, remember 3.2 is a higher version #, Honeycomb 3.1 comes with Gmail 3.1.

Is there anyway to find out the version of gmail in xoom? When I check in setting>about, there is no statement about the version.

Version code, not the user-oriented VersionName is used by the market to determine newer APK. They must be Max SDK filtering. Its actually listed as incompatible on honeycomb.

Manage Applications in Settings or Titanium Backup will show it. Honeycomb 3.1 comes with Gmail 3.1 and Honeycomb 3.2 comes with Gmail 3.2, both are 3.x while the market version is 2.x.
I have a completely stock US WIFI only Xoom and Maps updated to 5.8.0 automatically.
I have posted a couple methods for updating Maps in the Tiamat rom thread

Which Tiamat ROM are you using? Manta Ray states that not being able to update maps is a known issue that is being worked on. Looked under the "Release Notes" section on the first post here:

Adhoc tethering question

I'm wondering if anyone might have suggestions on getting AdHoc Wifi working. I got a new phone that currently only supports adhoc for wifi tether. I can tether it to vista and win7 laptops fine, but the Transformer never sees it in wifi.
I've dug through the thread and can't seem to find any info on getting it to work besides waiting for it to pop into the list.
I've never used ad hoc before as my previous EVO supported infrastructure mode.
Any help would be great.
What version of Honeycomb are u running ??
IIRC, all Prime versions supports Ad-hoc wifi , before 1.7 a modified wpa_supplicant was used, after that Asus have natively support Ad-hoc wifi

That's really strange. I just tested with Prime 1.9.1 connecting to my Android phone android wifi tether (ad hoc mode) and everything is working as expected.
Maybe you have a bad flash ? Why not u try wiping cache and dalvik reboot and try. If still fail, do a reflash and try.
Good luck !
No problems with mine using the tether on on htc evo running synergy..

[q] hellllpp!!

HELLLLLLP!!!!! i install the rom from
[ROM/UPDATE] Android Honeycomb 3.2.2 - Stock & Rooted
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242524
after install this rom but the wifi not work!!!?
If you are useing a wifi only xoom 3.2.2 will not work.. or at least it did not for me... and when I unrooted my xoom to send it to moto it only updated to 3.2.1. So I am assumeing the wifi only xooms do not have a stable 3.2.2 build. Flash a 3.2.1 Roman or something other then stock and it will work fine.

[Q] sprint nexus s 4g jellybean and native wifi tethering

looked everywhere but cannot find out, is there any way to use the native wifi tethering in stock rooted jelly bean. I used the tethering fix from Peter Alfonso's website that worked for ICS stock rooted, but for jelly bean it removes my ability to connect to the network no signal at all. If not is there any other wifi tethering that works with stock rooted jelly bean for the nexus s 4g
Native tethering doesn't work yet, however this one does ...
http://code.google.com/p/android-wi...tail?name=wifi_tether_v3_2-beta2.apk&can=2&q=
Make sure to use Netd-Ndc (master) in setup.
did not work for me there was no internet connection when i used it, went back to ics until there is a fix for native wifi tethering
'
any update to this? This is the last piece that I need to get working so I can stop staying up until 1am and just be happy with a phone for a while
For me (codename 3.6, tried whatever the built in kernel is and flashed marmite), native tethering works exactly one time after a fresh flash, from then on it disconnects data
Wifi tether works okay
any one get this working yet
All I can say is I can't get ANY tethering to work on CM 10.1 for NS4G or any other 4.2.1 rom for that matter.
The Provision 4.1.2 rom seems to work, but that rom is buggy and slow as hell.
