I was doing some reading on the net and noticed that there are actually 4 hardware versions of the Thunderbolt out. I have the 0002. Does anyone know what they changed between the versions?
0001
0002
0003
0004
Not I but do have a revision 002 and dont have any problems other than the ones created by myself.
I have 0003. I believe they are what revision your phone is. What that means not sure just seen it used that way in another thread. No problems here was on BAMF 3.0 but jumped back to 2.1 just because I wanted to not have the visual errors made by it being ported to a phone it wasn't supposed to be on.

It's already been shot down by the devs themselves.....like 10 threads down from this one

Will the preloaded netflix application on the lg revolution work on the tb? Same processor and drm?

why would you want that. The tbolt already has netflix...unofficial support but still.
Maybe they are hoping for working Netflix for Froyo.

How? The thread I found says it can que and search but not play back.
Man I hope we can use it

Actually it doesn't. Only if rooted and running certain roms. Unrooted we get drm notifications and that's it. The Revolution has the same processor and built in drm. So I'm hoping it will work.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
i dont think so since the netflix app checks the kind of phone your using to access the servers i thought, only gb roms (and now with the radio brick issue its time to wait a little bit more) and a hack/fix will netflix work.

It is also running on the cm7 rom, though the quality didn't seem nearly as good on cm7. It was great on the gb roms. Shame about the loop issue because I was diggin gingerbread and netflix.

I don't think it has the same drm. The hardware drm, sure, but not software. We may be able to extract that though and get it to work.

It's not a DRM issue, it's the stagefright libs. Search the forums because there is more info already here. On my phone or I'd link it for you.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Yeah, the only way you're going to get it working ever on froyo is if you compile and add in the necessary libraries that are missing (stagefright is the frontend wrapper method of streaming on android since 2.2 and underwent some major revisions since then). Doesn't matter where the Netflix application comes from at all. Unless you want to compile them or wait for someone to or pay someone to, you wont be seeing it until gingerbread is stable if you're rooted or whenever netflix decides to be nice and "officially" release it for those that won't root.
If you don't root, then thats your choice, just please no whining when you made your choice and have to wait it out for netflix to care about you (which for all anyone knows could be months away). Can't have the best of everything if you want to stay with what verizon gave you.
I don't think it would, just a guess though. By the way, do we have a Revolution forum? I don't see one in the list unless it is under a different name. I should be getting one shipped soon. It is ugly as hell IMHO.

I can't find netflix on the market anymore. anyone else having this issue? I'm guessing this might be an isolated incident. I've had a couple market issues since flashing synergy 6/1 but I thought I had squashed them.

I'm pretty sure that it's due to it not working on the official Gingerbread release. I updated my wife's unrooted phone today, and Netflix stopped working. It would start the stream, but it would stop and then go back to the queue.
I just checked market and sure enough, its gone. Maybe good news is just around the corner for us who havent been able to run it.
I just called netflix their words were "Near Future" Which means yes they will fix sense 2.1

Very cool. Thanks for making that call. Thanks button mashed.
I wonder why they would take it off though. Why not just release an update when it's ready. Hmm. Oh well.

Because it would reduce call volume if people thought it was gone and new users wouldn't even know it existed.

I see. That makes sense. Makes me happy! The only draw back to this rom has been not having netflix. Hopefully that will be remedied soon.

After speaking with my Dad who didnt even know there was a Netflix App, decided to download it before it disappeared and the Market said that his EVO wasnt a supported phone. I am under the impression that Netflix dropped support for both 2.2 and 2.3 on the EVO until they can fix it for both.
hmmm i still have it in the market but heres a change
Currently Netflix playback is supported on the following phones:
• HTC Incredible with Android 2.2
• HTC Nexus One with Android 2.2, 2.3
• HTC G2 with Android 2.2
• Samsung Nexus S with Android 2.3
• Motorola Droid with Android 2.2
• LG Revolution with Android 2.2

I noticed that, and trust your input. I'll never understand why some people just post stupid crap like this guy did. If I'd noticed it was his first post I wouldn't have bothered.
I have an older .apk for the NetFlix app and when I install it and open it, it tells me I HAVE to upgrade to continue, then searches the market and says requested item cannot be found, click OK and right back to the you must upgrade screen.. so it appears that the NetFlix app is gone completely for the Evo until the fix the 2.3 issue. Can anyone else confirm the same?
I noticed that too! This really sucks ! Now what am I going to do at work? Maybe its time to introduce ubuntu to the work place
why wouldn't it work on the new update? it works on cm7 and thats running 2.3.4 -.-

Have you tried running it recently (since the update?) Possibly if you were lucky enough to have the last version they had before they pulled it for the EVO then maybe it will still work for you, but the older version I have doesn't work.
I have the last version. When I tried playing anything it would load and say that netflix had not been activated on my device. Not that it worked to begin with, but that message is new to me.

mainly i noticed a difference bc the home screen doesn't do the same "puzzle piece" thing it did before and other random little things here and there are different.
any clues?
oh and duh hitting the update button says there are no updates.

What's the build number in Settings->About Phone at the bottom?
Original AT&T firmware was UCKD5, the small AT&T update was UCKE3. New phones might be coming with E3.

Just want to make sure because I really have been dependent upon it lately and don't want it FUBAR-in my phone. Thanks in advance.

always upgrade, the radio interface layer needs to match the baseband files.

it works similar to how windows uses drivers to communicate with the hardware, it is basically the same way linux is able to allow the android operating system to communicate with the hardware layer of your network radio, incompatible RIL/baseband can cause dropped calls etc, if it errors out.

You know guys, I thought the same until I realized that cm7 and all ROMs based on it had mismatched ril when installed... sometimes I forgot to use getril for days and there were no noticeable issues.
IMHO I guess, but I have found a lot of such info on xda is belief based (GPS fixes are another example). Anyways whatever floats a boat I guess.

hello...
what's going on everyone... first off just want to thank everyone for their hard work on these forums. thought the whole rooting/modding thing seemed harder than it looked, but when i finally got down and dirty, it reminded me of when i modded my psp a few years back!
anyway, just reading this thread and decided to dl getRIL, and it does say my RIL/baseband don't match. i'm running the g2x with cm7/mazout's 2.6.32.60 GB kernel and the "new baseband fix" after having the popping/"hash hash" sound (can't recall where the thread is off the top of my head...). getRIL says i'm running v20c, i was under the impression that this setup was "v21y-ish"? i've had this setup for a few days now, and the only issues i've had were random reboots/shutdowns (85% positive it's a battery issue... it looks like it's swelling!). i switched from cm10.1 JB (yesss! JB on my g2x...waitaminit... can't call or text?!?!?! aarrgggh!) to EB ICS 4.0.4 for about a week to my current setup (as i like having HWA and a video camera.) but with my current setup, no data/radio issues so far...
basically the point is: should i mess with my baseband or leave it as is? again, thanks!!!
I would use getril to adjust your ril to the baseband just as i did.

It's the same as updating drivers on your computer, you either want to, or you dont. But if you start having issues with connectivity, it is advised that you update the RIL first.
Mine didn't seem like it had any issues either but I did it anyway in the hopes that I could get better battery life, call quality, etc. Haven't really noticed any improvements yet lol.....
So I did it... so far no issues n everything sounds fine as far as radio/call quality goes...

No real issues, just didn't want any issues in the future with RIL/baseband nit matching... plus I'm kinda OCD when I mod my gadgets. That's why I went back to GB from the EB ICS rom I was running, I had to have video camera n HWA functioning

question: why are phones sold with unmatched modem/RIL?
Neither of mine were?
Sent from my SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 4
It is almost always best to use the RIL that matches the software version it is meant to work with. The RIL is responsible for interpreting commands between the Android kernel and the hardware radio/modem that enable the phone to work as a cell phone. One of the reasons that the G2X won't work as a cell phone with ICS is the incompatibility of the GB RIL with ICS and no G2X specific RIL for ICS is available.
