Hey guys
Strange issue here. I paired my phone with my car through Bluetooth to make and receive calls using the car audio system. It works well.
However, if I fire Google Navigation, I can't here the spoken instructions through either the phone speaker or the car speakers.
I was not expecting navigation audio to be routed through Bluetooth audio, but I did expect the navigation instructions to come out of the phone speaker, as it does on the nexus one or the vibrant both running Android 2.2.
Is anybody else having this issue?
Thanks

did you flash a new kernel or anything because the kernel in the dev thread is known to break bluetooth
if it does this stock out of the box try doing a system restore and then take it back if its still acting up because bluetooth should turn on
yea i used the pkg one that had SU etc on it. Suppose Ill have to flash back to stock arg.
just so peeps know with the bt issue flashing this fixed

Bluetooth doesn't stream audio to car - what's your experience
I've got a Ford Edge with the new Ford MyTouch/Sync system.
The Nexus S connects to the Bluetooth just fine; makes and receives calls perfectly. It will also connect to the Bluetooth Audio Stream for music playback, but won't play the audio over the car's speakers. Also, sometimes it connects, holds the connection for just a few seconds and then disconnects. My SGS and Nexus One work as expected, as does the iPhone, so it doesn't appear to be an issue with the car.
Seems like a bug in the NS to me.
I'm curious if others are streaming audio/music to their auto's BT system without issues?
It would be especially nice to know what anyone else with a new Ford/Lincoln is experiencing, but I'd also like to compile a list of what cars work and what don't.
I'm going to have to find some other BT device that I can test the stream on to see if my phone works with it or not. Maybe my Nexus One dock? I've never used that to stream audio even with the Nexus One.
In terms of troubleshooting my problem, I've already rebooted the phone and the car, un-paired and re-paired the phone with the car.
I've got a Mazda RX8 R3 and the NS will pair with the in-built car BT but drops the connection after a few minutes. It then refuses to connect again unless I re-pair, then a few minutes later it drops and we're back to square one.
The car's in-built BT worked fine with my HTC Desire, Hero, iPhone 3G and Blackberry 9700 so I'm guessing the Nexus S has a Bluetooth issue.
Mine works fine on my aftermarket Sony receiver.
having issues with bluetooth audio too, stream keeps breaking every now and then. Any fixes?
I've only streamed to the car stereo and had no issues. The phone is only about 10cms away.
Haven't tried my BT headphones yet, maybe range is the issue.
*On original ROM.

tried placing the phone right next the the BT reciever and same problem. Only tried this once, maybe I'll try rebooting the phone.
no problem here
using Bionix 1.2
You're lucky, I can't even get BT music streaming to work with my car. No other BT devices to check with besides my Nexus One dock, which has no speakers.
BT works great for the phone, though, to make and receive calls.
Problem with Bluetooth
I cant get to work bluetooth on Nexus S.
When i enable it and try to send something from SGS to Nexus S it says me "This tranfer was canceled by the user" (Nexus S)
SGS says "Remote device rejected your request"
When i try send something from Nexus S, but use not function Send, i use function Bluetooth - it says me "The application Bluetooth Share (process com.android.bluetooth) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
I tried factory reset, wipe cache, tried flash any other roms, but got NOTHING helpt me. I have this problem on 2 phones (2xNS).
Can someone give me files of BlueTooth share? (com.android.bluetooth)
That's an interesting problem you have. Mine did the same thing transfering from my computer to my NS. I just tried it again when I read your post (to make completely sure what the error was) and it has automagically fixed its self.
Well, seems i need a file \system\app\bluetooth.apk
Whenever I connect my phone by Bluetooth to my car's stereo, only the front speakers work, nothing from the 2 rear speakers. I've tried adjusting the fade and checking settings in poweramp but still nothing. I'm not sure if this would be an issue with my phone, the ROM, or the car audio system. I'm thinking it's an issue with the car's audio but I figured I'd ask here in case somebody else has had the same issue. I am on liquid smooth 3.0 April 24th build with elemental x kernel but I had the same issue with my galaxy s4

I have no problem with nexus 5 and my car Bluetooth connectivity.
Make sure that your audio system, GPS and make and model are compatible with the bluetooth from the phone. Some other connectivity issues are that the car kit cannot decode the Bluetooth device that it is trying to connect. This decode means that the system cannot recognize the name. This is a frequent problem when devices have been upgraded. While your system may have worked fine before, upgrades can cause problems because the compatibility all of a sudden changes. This is an issue that has not really been addressed by the manufacturers.
Another frequent problem that can occur is that the Bluetooth will connect but then it will not stay connected and only one speaker is running,. Many times this can be a hardware issue.
So the bluetooth device can connect but it does not work properly. In this case there is an issue with the stereo connection to the Bluetooth unit. There is nothing actually wrong with the bluetooth or devices but this is a software issue. To fix it see if the manufacturer is offering any updates. If one person has had the issue then you can bet that many people will have the problem. This is a problem with the car kit software as no matter which phone or earpiece you use the audio will not play from the speakers. Check that the vehicle supports bluetooth audio as some only will support bluetooth phone calls. These are 2 very different things.
Most of the time, look into the settings for the bluetooth and the car system. If the car battery should die then the system may reset to the defaults. This means that all of the current settings will be lost and need to be reset. Not only will you need to check the settings in the car system but also in your phone or other bluetooth device. In order to correct the bluetooth settings the device will need to be connected to the computer.

I have an aftermarket Kenwood double DIN deck with Bluetooth 2.1. It connects perfectly fine, shows up with Nexus 5 when pairing, shows the song title, shows the name of the person calling... It works great when plugged in through the aux port, but of course doesn't show me any information that way. When I had the S4 it showed up as SGH-M919. It stays connected just fine and I had it playing for a while before I tried turning up the volume and noticed it didn't sound right and figured out the rear speakers weren't playing.
I just checked and noticed there is a somewhat recent update on Kenwood's site but it was still about 3 weeks before I bought the deck... I'll try doing that though. (edit) just checked again and the update isn't for my model, there's no software for it
Thank you for answering since I'm pretty sure now that it's a problem with the stereo and nothing to do with Android lol
Kind of embarrassed to admit it but...I did have Car Toys install it so... they probably didn't do a very great job. I knew I should have had either Best Buy do it or tracked down a friend that could do it. Oh well
While driving bluetooth stops or some time lag voice if wifi is on. same issue noticed without wifi enable also but very less.
It seems whenever wifi changes to different network or connects or disconnects bluetooth is loosing or lagging voice.
Where as if i put it on speaker i can hear sound from speaker. I tried 5-6 different bluetooth and having same issue. i got replacement of phone also but same issue with new phone also. I could verify with older phone and it seems issue is only with Idol 3. Is any one else facing similar issue?
I tested this using a Bluetooth headset, and I am unable to replicate it. Turning WiFi on and off has no noticeable effect on playback via a the Bluetooth headset. Unfortunately , I have no way to test this while driving .

This issue is mainly happening while driving. It seems like while driving phone tries to goes from LTE to different modes and same with wifi as it tries to connect to different wifi. In this process it starts to lags voice on bluetooth and in few cases sound get disconnected.
Are you listening to music on your phone or streaming?
I haven't had any issues while driving using both Google music and slacker. Those are the only two streaming apps i use tho. I leave my Wi-Fi on all day. My deck is a Bluetooth pioneer unit, though the model number escapes me at the moment. I'm on T-Mobile BTW.
I don't drive anymore but I stream Rhapsody overnight onto my BT speakers and it never has conked out on me yet. There was one time I did lose the BT connection to the speakers before I did the factory reset but no issues with the BT since.
Issue is not with listenting music, it is during call through bluetooth while driving and having wifi and bluetooth both on.
OK I'll test that later on today. How often/with what frequency does it happen to you?

Almost 2 out of 3 attempts i am having this issue. even now in home i started call on bluetooth when wifi was off, then just put wifi one during call and voice from bluetooth started to get blurry and then other party could not hear me. and i had to disable wifi and then disable bluetooth and then on bluetooth again in phone.
Seems like issue is happening when phone is trying to connect to wifi and call is on bluetooth...
airplane mode on, wifi and blutooth on, LG HBS700 oem + netflix = audio lag. firmware update did not help. not ready to switch from s4 just too many quirks.

I do not have Netflix - but I tested with HBO Go - and YouTube - with airplane mode , WiFi and Bluetooth - And I am not seeing any audio lag - or audio interruption when switching from speakers to Bluetooth mid session. I am using Arctic P253BT headphones.
Alright I did a call today. It was only 5 minutes long but didn't notice anything. I'll try doing what you did starting a call in my driveway and turn WiFi on/off repeatedly at various time intervals.
I got replacement, but i can still see the issue with new phone also...

Sorry, my testing is put on hold as I had to send the device in to get a new screen (cracked). I couldn't get it done before because my wife kept stealing my car
I'm having kinda' the same problem. The thing is everytime I connect/disconnect there's a general lag in the phone! after one minute or so, it starts working ok

It's possible the bluetooth is unreliable because the phone gets busy as you indicated...I posted a couple of apps in the idol 3 apps section that help reduce lag and may help this...
Something I've done has made my bluetooth totally unreliable....whether linked to car or home phone system I can answer...talk for a few seconds and then it transfers the call back to the cell instead of the bluetooth device. I'll have to go back through my backups and find a version that doesn't do this.
I have demonstrated the same effect with my bt device (lg). When switching wifi networks bt microphone stop receiving so other party cannot hear me and the audio begins to break up and lag. I can switch off bt then back on and am fine till next wifi switchover. I was hoping the update from Alcatel would address this, was not the case. ;(
I also had the same kind of issue while listening music in car using Bluetooth, strangely it is happening when the WiFi try to connect to open WiFi available. And when that open WiFi is not able give internet accesses, then the phone just get stuck for some time. I have these issues frequently I need to restart my phone
I just purchase Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 and and am having similar problem. I had a Plantronics M50 connected and people complained that I was breaking up and they couldn't hear me and it happened on my end sometimes too. When I'm calling someone, the ring will be normal at the beginning of the ring and then it will fad out at the end of the ring. Store rep told me this was normal. Has never done it with any of my other phones. Bought another bluetooth to try to determine if it was the bluetooth or the phone. Bought the Plantronics E50 and the same thing happens. Alcatel says it's the bluetooth and Plantronics says it's the phone. Betty at Alcatel also says the Plantronics bluetooth are not compatible with the Alcatel, however, the store sells the Plantronics Marque II to use with the Alcatel. Anyone have any suggestions or having the same problem?
I'm having the problem in car on bluetooth where the caller sounds like they are underwater and garbled and I'm told I do too. It comes and goes, very frustrating. I tested another Android and no problem.

There's a problem with the phone. It happened after the last Android update. My bluetooth was fine until marshmallow. It's so bad I went back to my Galaxy S4. I loved the Idol for just about everything, but horrible bluetooth. People can't hear you, it's a deal breaker.
I'm having an issue with my bluetooth holding a connection with my 2013 Honda Civic LX. When listening to music through any music playing app, the connection always stays steady. When there is no music running from the phone, I'll frequently get a message from the display on the dash that the phone has been disconnected. The phone will usually reconnect in a second or two, with another display indicating that it has been connected. This will happen at least two times during my commute to work (25 minutes), oftentimes as many as five times. When I am actively in a phone call, the disconnects seem to be more frequent. It has a timer on the display that shows how long the phone call has been active through the car, and it rarely gets above 3 minutes before the call gets routed back to the phone's speakers while the bluetooth reconnects. The strange thing is that my wife's LG G4, also AT&T, has absolutely no connection issues at any time. I switched phones with her for a week just to confirm since I'm the one generally driving this car, and I didn't have the car drop the connection to the phone even once. Before that week, her phone would have occasionally been used when we were both in the car and she wanted to listen to music through her phone, so it had been connected to the car for more than a week.
I factory reset the phone just to see if there was a strange software issue causing the problem. After the factory reset, the phone and car had a steady connection with no drops for about a week. When the problem came back and was obviously just as bad as before, I tried another factory reset. Once again, the connection stayed steady for about a week before I would get disconnects again. At this point, I contacted AT&T, who replaced my phone thinking that it could be a hardware issue. A week after getting my replacement, the issue popped up once again.
Besides factory resetting, which is the only thing I've found to fix it at least temporarily, I have tried a few different troubleshooting steps. I have cleared cache using the storage screen in the settings menu. I've deleted the phone from the car's connection list. I've re-paired the phone to the car without giving permission for contacts or messages. Also tried to just do a simple reboot of the phone, as well as turning bluetooth off and back on. None of these have any effect on the connection issues once they start coming up.
I can take the car to Honda, but judging on the fact that my wife's phone works just fine in the car, I'm convinced that it is somehow an issue with the software on my phone. My phone is not rooted, and is currently running Android 5.1, S/W H81010o, Build LMY47D.
My guess is hardware problem. My G4 seems to do the same thing with my Jaybird X2 headphones. I've had Jaybird swap them and I'm having the same exact issue of disconnect as with the previous set. I doubt I'd get two bad sets, so its gotta be something hardware related. Sorry I wasn't any extra help. I'm just searching to see if anyone else is having my issue.
My hunch would be whatever the BT protocol is that's being used to pair the devices. Or possibly just an isolated hardware incompatibility. I'm on my second G4 (totally separate reason from BT), and neither has had issues with pairing or staying paired. Even if I were to pause or altogether stop playback of audio, the connection remains stable for me. I pair mine with a Sony BT speaker, a Kinovo receiver for streaming to my car stereo, and even a receiver attached to my Yamaha A/V receiver at home. No issues whatsoever.
For what it's worth: I use PowerAmp Pro when I stream, almost exclusively.

The strange thing for me is that my wife's LG G4 (now 6 months old) works fine in my car under the same circumstances, but I've had 2 LG G4's of my own that essentially showed the exact same symptoms almost immediately. I'm leaning far more towards it being software, with whatever glitch not being present immediately after I factory reset but shows up within a week on my Google profile. My guess is that it's related to the phone related data transferred to the car since it stays connected just fine during media playback but disconnects soon after the media stops, but I can only block contacts to test that theory.
Hi Folks,
Anyone had any similar problems? When my Z5 is connected to my VW Golf it constantly disconnects and reconnects, tried rebooting the phone, un-pairing and re-pairing still no joy
Just wondered if it was a bug sony needed to be aware, it's as if it's a power save feature that turns it off and on?
Cheers in advance.
Mine stays connected to my van fine
I use one of these in my car -> http://www.amazon.com/SoundBot-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Wireless-Streaming/dp/B00RH29CJO
No problem so far, it stays connected
I´we got the same problem with my Z5 and Pebble Time
I also have bluetooth streaming issues. Connections initiated by the phone seem to work fine. Those initiated by the car do not. Have zero issues with a Nexus 5. I believe the issue may be related to the "Throw" service.
My Z5 only connects to my Nissan Qashqai 50% of the time. My previous HTC M8 would connect every single time, but Z5 has to have bluetooth turned on/off to work with the car. It's incredibly annoying and I hope it can be improved with software
Sony will probably have to fix it in next update...
I have the same issue with a garmin watch but only since the update I had yesterday, same with the car stereo again since yesterday

I have a 2014 mini and the Bluetooth doesn't have any connectivity issues, but I definitely have bugs with music skipping, especially if I have maps open or something. Better than the initial 5.0 Bluetooth bugs but still really annoying. Probably my main gripe with this phone so far other than the fingerprint scanner
I have exactly the same issue as the OP with my garmin watch it connects then disconnects every 5min or so, whats weird is if i unpair and repair the connection is good for about 3hrs then starts playing up...
I also have a nexus 6 which i've tested with lollipop 5.1.1 and marshmallow and it works perfectly, my HTC M8 i used to have did exactly the same issue's as this sony, its got something to do with the trusted device settings i think the nexus doesn't ever ask about trusted devices both the HTC and this Sony do so it can't be just coincidence...
Is there anyway to disable the trusted setup on the device ? Garmin are saying to connect via there garmin connect app and don't actually connect with the phones bluetooth directly, i've tried that still doesn't work properly... frustrating...
I also have the same problem in my BMW.
Additionally, when I start call using built-in handsfree it suddenly switches to the phone's speaker then after 10 second back to handsfree.
Hope Sony fix this soon.
Does anyone know if its possible to install a apk or whatever it needs to be so that you get rid of whatever modifications sony have done to the bluetooth process the only reason i ask is i know through my nexus 6 that the bluetooth works perfect from google so replacing the Sony setup with the pure google setup should cure the bluetooth issue's or if there is anyway to disable the trusted devices issue that i'm sure is causing my bluetooth problems this is annoying me enough to consider getting rid of this phone... Excuse me ignorance i'm not clever enough to understand if this is an impossible task...
Don't know if this will work for others but last night i unpaired everything bluetooth on my phone switched the bluetooth off restarted my phone switched the bluetooth on and re-paired and now the 2 things i had issue with are working flawlessly since about 6pm last night... ???

Similar issue with pebble time, every so often it disconnects. My only doubt is which of the two is failing the pebble or the phone.
No problem with car in-calls or audio bluetooth.
I have a Z5 and I have pretty much the same issue with a 2010 Jag XF, phone connects via BT for a differing period of time then disconnects, sometimes reconnecting sometime not.
I've not had this happen during a call, and not with other Sony Xperia Z's I've owned.
Also I don't appear to have this with other items connected Via BT.
'I aslo have problems with the BT. The z5 will pair with my garmin edge 520, after that it can't find it no more and can't connect.
With my Stereo amplifyer, NAD D3020 it can connect as it does not require pairing but the connection is poor and i get alot of artifacts when i play music over it.
For the Edge 520 it stops everytime it ask for Trusted device.
My phone is in for warrenty repair, Was for a cracked rear glass, but i told them about the problems with the BT too. The phone is on it's way back now. Hope this will fix the issue. If the BT don't work, the Z5 won't be usefull for what i want to do with it.
I know with my garmin, garmin told me not to connect with the phone directly just the connect app, weirdly my watch has been working perfect for about 3 days and now this afternoon is playing up again I've installed nothing new or changed any settings baffling

Similar problem here with my Android Wear and my Cartio Strip. Continuosly disconnect, B icon on status bar disappear, then re-appear after 1 - 2 min.
Someone known how to disable throw?
Thanks
