I evaluated one and wrote a review of it, see here. Briefly, I didn't like it - it doesn't protect the screen, interferes with the controls and is a pain to put on and take off.

Its actually almost the same volume as the clear hard (polycarbonate) cases, but is stretchy and does not stay put - the edges around the screen flapped about alot, and because the plastic is slightly rubbery, it doesn't slip into the pocket easily.
I have also tried an aluminium case, which cuts the signal too much, and a polycarbonate case, which I found trapped grit right next to the phone and created small dents and scratches.
I now just have a Brando screen protector and no case, and I find I can keep the phone in my pocket all day quite comfortably, and it is no more scratched after a month, than after a few days in a polycarbonate case.
The body of the xda2 is made of aluminum after all...

I disagree, I had mine for a while now and is the best protection that you can get for the case of the phone. I had another silicon skin, but this one looked like bad quality, I ordered another one, and this one fits like a glove!, its perfect!, of course it doesn't offer much protection to the screen, but for that you have screen protectors and such, what I like about the skin is that is thin, and make the phone have a great grip. All the holes are very well placed. Most of people that don't want to be carrying one of those bulky leather cases might want to look into this case, since it adds almost no bulk to the phone and makes it pretty snazzy, besides protecting the case of the phone against scratches and bumps. Those people complaining about the fact that you can use it with the cradle?. Show me ONE case that can be used with the cradle, and besides, the skin comes right off very easily.

As I indicated in the review, I found it very difficult to remove from the device. I also consider protection for the screen to be a major function of a case - it provided none. My Piel Frama provides all this plus space for a spare battery (which protects the screen from IMPACTS) and space for two SD cards.
As it happens, I accidently dropped my Xda II in its Piel Frama onto tarmac a few days ago, in the rain and then partly stood on it! Other than a small indent next to the headphone socket, it survived unscathed and unwet - I genuinely doubt the JAVOSkin would have protected it that well, particularly since it went face down and the Piel Frama case now has marks in the front. I expected to need a new screen but the battery in the front flap saved it.
Oh, and the Piel Frama will fit the cradle, admittedly just but it will and it sync's.

Is not really difficult to take out from the phone from me, it takes me like what...1 second?. Yeah your piel frama may provide screen protection and space for a spare battery and what not. but....can you put your Piel frama in your jeans pocket?, I do on mine, In fact I never liked too much to have my phone dangling from my belt (I assume that's how you use yours) but is more risky, since It may one day just fell off your hip, I always put it in my right front pocket in my pants, with the screen facing my leg, I never had any problems whatsoever. no with this phone or any other smartphone (I had way too many) that I've used. You said that your phone fell off, and got a mark in the headphone jack, I had dropped my phone too, and as it today, looks like new (knock on wood). It has even fell on the side of the screen, but the silicon does have some kind of protection, it surrounds the screen, kind of the same principle that the G-shock watches have, that are thick on the edges of the screen, protecting it a little bit, of course if your phone hits something pointy on the screen, your screen might suffer there, but chances are that won't happen.

Perhaps mine is a tighter fit, but no, it would take a few seconds since I didn't want to tear the case by pulling too hard - I have to sort-of squeeze it out like toothpaste.

Yes, I can and what's more it is easier to get out than the Javo since the anti-slip nature of the silicon rubber makes it hard to slid out. In this case yes, it was on a belt clip, but it is a small part of the clip which is a little worn and which I am intending to replace with a stronger one. I still prefer the belt clip since it makes the device more accessible and I don't have to take the thing out of my pocket each time I sit down, which I did with the JAVO - too uncomfortable.

Yes, a small mark but it was the corner of the case which took the main impact.

But this is precisely the case with me! The device was face down in a puddle when I stood on it. The thickness of the case stopped the water reaching the device and the cover stopped a piece of grit cracking the screen - I know that the screen would have been cracked and the device would have got water in it had it been in the JAVO.

thanks for the responses, you've helped me arrive at a decision - not to buy or use a javoskin. I had hoped for both more and less from it. More in the sense of protection and less in the needs to take on and off for synching etc etc...

Here you go...
Unmodified cradle and unmodified case. The back face of the case slips nicely behind the base of the cradle and the leather is thin enough to permit the case to stay on. That said, the device comes out easily enough that it isn't an issue anyway.

Google Nexus One Pure Crystal Slip?

Anyone used this case? I REALLY don't want to put a case on my Nexus One, but it's also so slim and thin that I am going to drop it eventually.
Silly as it is, I don't want the whole phone covered up, so while the Innocase Surface II looks decent it also covers up the phone.. The Boxwave Pure Crystal Slip doesn't, but I can't find any reviews on it.
Anyone used one of these things? I don't use the dock, although I do use a horizontal belt case so I might have to get one that's slightly bigger as the N1 barely fits in the existing one, but I can deal with that.. That would happen for any case honestly, except for a skin.. I do like Best Skin Ever, but the last two I've bought seem to not be quite as "tacky" as the first few I had, therefore the grip wasn't quite as good. Maybe my imagination..

I bought the Boxwave case off amazon a month ago probably. its a nice case but save your money and buy a resin case from dcmugen on ebay, exact same thing with a different logo. its a nice case though, not too thick and easy to take on and off (I use both docks) so it fits my needs quite well.

Boxwave here. Nice thin and classy. Has rubber feel but not too soft either. It's a pretty good case makes phone look ten times better in my opinion. Is easily recommend it, but I don't use docks, so can't help there. Never the less, happy casing.

Ah, I see.. I still think I prefer the Pure, no patterns on it, but otherwise the same.. Looks like Boxwave has the Cyclone (circle patterns), diamonds, a matte finish, some others..
Still haven't decided on which case.... I've always been disappointed in silicone cases, but I've almost always bought cheap $2 eBay ones..

I went with the Boxwave Pure Crystal Slip, we'll see when it arrives! God knows when, I had two shipping options.. 5-10 days ($2) or 1-3 days ($23!!)
So I'll see in 5-10 days

I got the Clear Pure Crystal Slip yesterday. Here's a quick review:
Overall, I like it and will likely use it when I'm out and about. It gives a much more secure grip on the phone without adding any weight or feeling larger. Although honestly I still think the Nexus One is a little TOO thin and a little slippery. This makes that better.
It feels like a cheap case, it's rubbery and smooth. If your hands are wet or oily it might be MORE slippery, don't know yet. In reality it seems pretty well made, and fits well. The Clear Pure version is crystal clear, no tint, no patterns, and you can clearly see the phone is a Nexus One.
I'm not doing any drop testing, but I think if the phone landed on a corner or an end this case could protect it. It's firm but pliable, not squishy like a silicone case and not a hard case. Primarily I think it'll protect it because it'll be LESS LIKELY to get dropped because the surface is a tackier and more surface area on the sides. I can pick up the phone with two fingers securely now, where before I'd have to tilt the phone up and get fingers under it to pick it up.
If anyone wants pictures I can do that, haven't yet...
Price summary: If it were $15 it'd be a deal. $20 seems too much.
Pros:
You can see see it's a Nexus. Google branding, colors, body build
It's thin, firm, and fits tightly
Covers up the power and volume buttons, but made to fit over them. Maybe a little rain resistance?
Adds better grip, more confidence holding the phone
Does not interfere with any ports (except a little on the power plug, see below)
Does not interfere with any openings (speaker, mics, camera, camera flash)
Does not interfere with the screen, particularly near the edges
Does not obscure the speaker when phone is on its back
Lets you lay the phone down face-down without resting on the trackball
Covers all corners, edges, entire back.
Cons:
It has a molding line all around it.. It's not that visible but you can feel it. Sides aren't smooth
Covers up the power and volume buttons, but made to fit over them. Makes it too easy to hit the buttons, and you can't feel the button very well (to feel it when touching) nor feel the action of the button itself.
Seems to make the stock charger plug (maybe others too) not feel "in", I think there's too much material around the plug
Takes away the nice texture and feel of the Nexus One
Thumb hits the case a little scrolling down on the trackball, but it doesn't make it harder to use
Other notes:
Does not protect the camera lens or the screen at all
Mine was clearly used, fingerprints all over and in the box backwards :/
A slim belt case intended for the N1 is too small to fit with this case
There is a weird cutout to the left of the HTC logo in the case, like maybe a hand strap could go there?

I have that case as well as the Crystal Boxwave slip.
The Boxwave one:
- Is clearer obviously (not the "smoked look").
- Fits a good deal tighter.
- Has a full cover for the lip, not the chin strap method of attaching.
- Has Boxwave written across the back.
I actually prefer the patterned one because it's more interesting, both detract from the Nexus, so it might as well add some flavor, right? The Boxwave one is far tighter fitting (and slightly thinner) but neither is going to come off in any kind of normal use. I also own the desktop dock, so I need to take it off on occasion to allow the phone to fit. Both cover all the buttons, so you have to get used to pressing them through the rubber. They also both have that edge around the edge of the case from being molded.
Anywho, just my $0.02

I'm using the Seidio Innocase Surface case/holster combo. Nice tactile feel on the case, and the secure spring-clip holster does really well, especially with my clumsy arse...

Definition of the "best" case would be different for every person because it depends on personal preferences, how you use your phone, and how you carry it. Personally, I like the feeling of a naked phone and with my Touch Pro 2 I mostly used Forte leather case (although I tried Seidio Surface for a short period). The advantage of a leather pouch is that you don't have any permanent thickness added to your phone, but disadvantages are that you need to take the phone out of the case to see the screen and you can still drop the phone while out of the case - which is exactly what happened to me a few times. Now when I got Epic, it is thinner then TP2 so I wanted to get a snap-on case for it. Here is my mini-review of a few cases I tried:
1) Seidio Active - it is the case that (among other snap on cases) would definitely provide the best protection if the phone is dropped, it looks good, and made well. The soft gel provides a nice cushion and the plastic skeleton strategically positions hard coverage over areas that could be most impacted during the fall. It seems that the recently found Fishbone case on Amazon is very similar in the design so I would expect it to provide the same protection. Unfortunately, Seidio Active was a bit too thick to my liking and since I usualy take good care of my phones, I didn't feel that the extra protection would justify the added thickness for my needs.
2) Seidio Surface - this is probably the thinnest snap on case you can get. I really like the fact that it adds very little to the overall size of the phone and I thought that it would be the perfect case for me when I bought it and put it on. However, maybe the fact that it is so thin contributed to the fact that it feels a bit flimsy when on the phone. There is a tiny bit of play on both the top and bottom parts (when you squeeze them with your fingers on the sides) and sometimes when you push power button the phone tends to slide open a bit based on how I hold it in my hand. The case seems to fit like a glove but it is not as tight as I would like it to be and it is VERY easy to remove the top part with almost no effort whatsoever. Some may consider it a plus, but I consider it a minus because I am pretty sure that if the phone is dropped, the top part will most likely fall off after the first bump leaving the top unprotected (this actually did happen when I used Seidio Surface case on my Touch Pro 2 and dropped from about 3 feet onto hardwood floor).
3) Sprint Case with rubber back - to me this turned out to be the "best" case, at least for now. In terms of added thickness it is somewhere in between Seidio Active and Surface cases. It fits very snug and tight. I like the rubber backing a lot, it is not slippery, feels very nice in hand, and looks good (at least in black). Some people mentioned that the rubber has a tendency to peel off - I've had this case for a month now and it looks like new and I have no peeling issues; but even if I do, I am sure that a carefully placed drop of crazy glue will take care of this issue permanently. I have removed the case several times and I don't see any scratches left on the phone as was posted in one thread. The only drawback may be that the case is a bit harder to remove then Seidio, but to me it is not an issue and means that it will stay on during the fall. I rarely remove the top part, but I am a heavy phone user so I swap extra battery often and don't have any issues removing the bottom part after getting used to it. There were some reports of snaps breaking off - I have not experience that at all and I hope I won't since this is a perfect case for me at this point.
In terms of price - all three cases are around $20 bucks so price is not a factor. All three cases do not interfere with the sliding mechanism and make the phone feel a bit tighter with less screen play and no more squeaking from the battery door. I also tried one of those invisible shield things which is basically a screen protector over the entire phone. Two issues I found with those: a) no matter what brand you get, they will eventually start peeling and will attract dirt on the edges looking like crap after a while; b) although they provide scratch protection, they won't do much if the phone is dropped.

I wonder if this has to do with how different people remove/put it on. I usualy pick the two corner clips on the charger side with my nail and it removes pretty easily after that (just slide it off). When I put it back I do it in reverse order - I slide the bottom two clips on first and then snap the top ones on. So far it's been working well for me.

I'm using a black Seidio Innocase (regular not active) with the spring clip holster and I love it. I originally had the body glove case and it was just too big.. felt like I was carrying a brick in my pocket. The Innocase doesn't add much bulk and gives a bit of protection from random bumps and scratches. Has a pleasant lip around the screen too so laying the epic flat on its face keeps the screen from contacting a surface.

My experience with case durability is completely different from gorby911's, so it's all YMMV. My Sprint case completely fell apart in 1.5 months of use, what with the clips breaking off, and 2 corners of the rubber backing peeling away. Even after Gorilla-gluing one of the corners, it peeled off again within a week! Just got a Seidio Surface and it fits very snugly and no play.
The downside of the Surface is that its rubberized texture is actually quite slippery, vs. the grippy texture on the Sprint case (especially with its rubber backing). It slightly twists and slips around in my hand that supports it while I'm swiping around with my other hand. But it's got a much thinner profile with what I feel appears to be the same amount of protection.
I hope it lasts more than 1.5 months long.

So the sedio active is the slimmest case? May have to check that out, thanks for the info.

Seidio innocase should be the thinnest.

I've been using the BodyGlove that has a the smoked chrome. Stylish and strong. Dropped it a few times and everything's still fine. Sprint Direct/Indirect stores have them available.

I have both the Innocase Surface and the black Sprint case and I too have had no problems with my Sprint case - I take off the back of the case exactly as you have described. Not a single scratch on my phone yet (knock on wood). I prefer the Sprint case over the Innocase as it seems to offer better protection.
For those who are curious, the black Sprint case fits in the Seidio Innocase Holster (the one designed for the Innocase Surface at least). I bought the $40 Innocase/holster combo at Best Buy, but am using the holster with my Sprint case.

I'm using this one. Got it off fleabay for $8.99. Really nice OEM leather case that fits great. I can't stand a phone in my pocket so I have mine on my belt.

Getting a new case: Slim, fit in pocket.

I've been using the CM Tough for a while now. While it's a great case for protection (very reassuring), its very bulky, and the silicone inner traps all sorts of dust and hair from the inside of my pockets.
For the past month or so, I've been walking around with my phone in my hand, fearing the attack of the lint, and wiping the lint and dust off the silicone whenever I could.
I've decided that if my friends can have sexy, slim cases for the iPhone, allowing it to come easily in and out of the pocket, there's no reason I shouldn't do the same.
Protection, for me, isn't that much of a problem. The easiest way to protect your phone is to basically not drop it, and in the half year I've had my phone, I've never dropped it once.
SO, I've been looking at...
The Momax iCase Pro: TPU sides and plastic back, slim.
SGP Slider: Hard case with cutouts for the volume/power. Looks rather slim.
Not a big fan of cases that don't cover the bezel. I honestly don't get the point, no scratch protection for bezel, and I can't put my phone face-down.
Are there any more cases I should be aware of? Are there people who can give a mini-review for the cases I mentioned above?

Fits perfectly on my European GT I9000, feels much nicer than bare phone or hard silicon case I previously used, and it's as easy to get out of your pocket as the bare phone. The only issue you might have is with the bezel, as it doesn't really cover it, rather it leaves the psuedo chrome visible, and only adds at most 0.5mm clearance if you place the phone face down.
Personally, I'm very happy with it. The phone is grippier, the volume and power buttons are much easier to use, and it looks good.
Headphone jack access is better too.

Here's another I had a look at recently, seems to give great protection, but it's fiddly to get on and off if you need to do a battery pull, and I didn't like the squidgy button covers, but it might be more in the line of what you're after.

I also use the Case Mate Barely There and it is the best I have tried so far.
It doesn't collect dust and the phone slides into the pockets.

I prefer the Momax. My workmate has the barely there, which is slightly slimmer but at the expense of losing some protection. The momax is the best option if you want slim but can still feel comfortable that your phone is safe imo.
I also had the toughcase and became frustrated with it for the same reasons as you. I'm very happy with the momax. Only issue is the power button is a bit harder to push now but a small price to pay.

Things i like:
It has a hybrid design, the back is not fully rigid but feels solid, soft sides.
Sides are flexible enough so that it goes on easy but stays in, also like how TPU doesn't become stretchy like silicone .
Lip that protects the screen, didn't notice too much dust getting in.
It's easy to keep a good grip on it.
Dislikes:
As the one posters above me said, the power button is harder to press. the same kind of applies for the volume keys but nor as much. It might be annoying in the long run.
Other than that the case is perfectly fine although I don't really know if it can be classified as slim by my standards , the back plate part is around 1.5mm thick. The back is a matte finish that doesn't offer too much grip but the sides are very grippy.
Hope this helps (I haven't tried any of the other cases so I can't really compare).

i think, case mate barely there is really good for slim profile somehow. and also capdase soft jacket xpose 2 also looks okay.

I use the same Case-Mate Barely There case as DMD9, and I don't see myself changing it anytime soon. Very sleek, provides a little bit of a rubbery feel but not enough to make it difficult to slide out of pockets

After protecting my SGS like a baby for the last 11 or so months, it has suffered some damage here and there (home button doesn't work very well, scratches etc).
Thus I decided to ditch the case and go totally slimline with a replacement battery cover (the stock one is a fingerprint magnet, and I have kinda sweaty hands!). Ordered a silver one from focal price (the ones with the samsung logo, but clearly fake) and its a pretty good fit.
I totally recommend going caseless, it fits so well in the pocket when you go out!

I also support caseless usage,
I had a invisibleshield protector on the phone for a few months and that one worked well but it came off.
Now i still use the phone as if there was a protector on it and....not a scratch added.
the screen can really handle some abuse

TPU + Hard Cover cases from China...good

I tend to prefer cases that have TPU on the sides and a hard cover for the rear. I also like cases that are sleek, especially in terms of how much material is around the screen. I dont like a ridge that is too high as it gets in the way of operating the screen.

For a "cheaper" case I am very impressed. Fit is snug and the all the openings line up perfectly. Only time will tell if the TPU sides will stretch over time and the phone gets loose but so far so good. The TPU is smooth and too "grippy" which I like. My only gripe is that the power and volume buttons lack any sort of feedback so its difficult to know that I am pressing the buttons. These buttons are also not that pronounced so its not easy to just feel for it.
Overall, I am very happy with this case regardless of the price.

The buttons are not easy to press without a case and some cases make it easier some cases make it harder. I think a great bonus in a good case is making those frequently used buttons easier to find and press.

I have had my eyes on a very similar version to that case, but I'm not 100% it would fit the AT&T Version of the HTC One X.

I also have a nice cheapo tpu on mine which I prefer over my other otterbox (because of its size). I put a little duct tape on the inside of the power button and it works much better and easier.

If you are referring to the case I referenced then yes. The back of the case if hard plastic. The camera is recessed a bit behind the plastic.

i have that same cover and the same complaint as u, also the speaker opening blocks the third row of the loud speaker openings, but sounds normally though.. its a really nice cover and every opening is exact to every port is accessible and i love the extension on the camera area, protects the lens

I purchased this case.
I liked the way it looks, and i like the material composition.
I did not like how difficult it was to press the buttons down with the tpu.
but the thing that made me, ultimately, stop using this case was how smooth and slippery the matte plastic case was. it made it slide on all surfaces. it wouldnt stay on any slanted material(chair, laptop, car hood, and bed). it was very easy to drop, and wouldnt stay in my lap.
I just went back to my smoked tpu case, which has good button feedback and is just grippy enough, yet smooth enough to slide in adn out of pockets

For around $10 why not just pick up a diztronic case that's designed for the XL? Ebay cases are sometimes a mixed bag, if you go with a decent name at least you have some quality to expect. Even more so when the price point is similar.
