htc.com/www has them both listed, just compare the specs
3d and slightly more ram but the evo has 5mp camera compared to the sensations 8mp. Personally I think 3d is a bit of a gimmick and the sensation is a better looking device.

Reviews of the EVO 3D say it lacks the lag that the Sensation has but battery life, like all WiMax and LTE phones up til this point, is completely lackluster.

damn straight! the evo 3D sticks to HTC almost-tablet styling, where as the sensation has sleek curves is is significantly lighter.
3D is 100% a gimmick thanks to movies like avatar and dark knight, the nintendo 3DS is proof of that!
I think your right looks wise the sensation wins thanks

not only that, but for the price/hardware/capabilities, i think the sensation wins all categories...pending unlock :/ and from everything ive read lately (A LOT, bored working midnights ) the evo3D will recieve bootloader unlock first (considering it was supposed to be BUIB [Bootloader Unlocked In Box]), but when the sensation gets it...whooo boy, watch out!
As for lag on the sensation, i have barely noticed any. Installed launcher pro heaps of Homescreen widgets and its still slick as you like. Multitasking is a dream!
Zero dust either!

Lucky! i have dust, but im on the fence about returning cuz i just sold my HD2 and have no replacement :/ i still use sense 3.0, loving the 3D UI since it was ported to the HD2, and it isnt slow at all, just dont load you homescreens with every htc widget available!
The absence of lag on the EVO 3D is a good thing for the Sensation! I don't believe that it is caused by better hardware but by software optimization! This means that we have to expect the same performance on our sensation when it gets future updates!
The difference is basically more RAM/better FFC on the EVO and a better rear facing camera/1080p video recording on the Sensation. The Sensation also has an aluminum unibody while the EVO is mainly plastic. In the end, it's up to the user to decide which features are more important.

The EVO 3D has 1GB of RAM versus 768MB in the Sensation. That certainly contributes to a lag-free experience.
EDIT: aNYthing24 beat me to it.
Hold both phones in my hand side by side the EVO 3D doesn't feel nearly as good in your hand. Amazing what a few fractions of a MM make, and the way the bodies curve the Sensation feels about 1/2 the thickness of the EVO. The Sensation just dissapears when you put it in your pocket. You can feel the big slab of plastic of the EVO in your pocket. Function wise they perform about the same for me. More RAM is always welcome.
quit making a big deal about ram! yes more is always better but if you owned a hd2 and seen how smooth it ran android then you would know that the ram that the sensation has is more then enough. unlock bootloader and stock android, or an OTA updates is going to do this phone justice! i would stick with the sensation as its just a nicer looking phone!

I bought an EVo 3d a few days ago, and the 3D features were cool, but not cool enough that I'd make it my full-time phone. One advantage it has is it always has 200-250 mb or more of available memory, whereas the Sensation normally has around 100mb.

If it's not software related can you explain to me why the sense 3.0 port on the DHD runs smoother than on Sensation and EVO 3D ????
I love the design of the sensation but i feel they could have made it so much better by copying the evo 3d a little.
I personally love a dedicated camera button so seeing that on the evo 3d and not the sensation was a little disappointing.
The placement of the charging port is a little more than frustrating when trying to text or even play with the sensation with 2 hands, i like how the evo 3d is located at the top instead of the bottom.
Another little annoyance is the over 200mAh difference in batteries between the two devices. Im sure like stated before they decided to go with a bigger one on the evo due the the battery drain of sprints 4g phones
Obviously these LITTLE things arnt that big of a deal as i would still choose the sensation over the evo 3d again and again

It's no gimmick. It's actually a pretty damn cool feature. I thought it was a gimmick too but HTC really did a good job making the first stereoscopic device. The green hornet in 3d looked pretty sweet.
edit: the big difference to me is the size. The E3D is huge...I mean heavy as in Thunderbolt heavy. To some that's a good thing to others its a negative.
I did the same thing. EVO 3D is IMO head over heels faster than the Sensation when i first tried it out. The 3D i thought i was gonna ignore it because i thought it was a gimmick too, but i ended up freaking loving it and taking 3D pics left and right. The front frame is also made of metal so it feels like a tank and i feel better knowing i have more ram also to help with the futureproofing.
What i do miss are the data speeds, Sprint sucks at this since i dont have wimax where i live and 3G speeds are embarrasing. But my bill is chraper so whatever lol

I think the question marks at the end summed it up nicely.
I certainly do as well as good number of others that have posted in two other threads relating to this.
Yeah but I didn't have the issue until I saw the Sensation running next to the Evo 3d. For me it's just an XDA issue. You know how peanut allergies are unheard of in the third world and there aren't plastic surgery addicts? Well being a member of XDA is like that haha. Now I have an "issue" which exists mostly in my mind because a newer device with slightly more ram and better optimized software, Runs HTC sense a slight bit better than does my device.
It looks like the evo has a hardware accelerated sense and the sensation does not. I hope HTC fixes this on the sensation. Its probably due to the sensation being released sooner with a less finished ROM.

What I mean is that the EVO is using the Graphics Chip to draw the interface, which makes it faster. It is a software issue and should be fixed with an update on the Sensation.
Nothing is perfect.... so what if the evo 3d is .23103 of a millisecond faster on the turns I'm not going to die because of it. Sense blows anyway took it off first chance lol.

Sense is not laggy in my Sensation. Then again, I turned off all animations and don't use a single Sense widget. I loaded ADW and used the Fast preset which made the Sensation faster than my G2X and Evo 3D. This is how I know its not hardware related.

Yea, adw isss smoking fast.
Also, ill post a video later, but my sensation spins in 1 swype just like the evo 3d. My other Sensations took 3 full fast swipes. This one, only 1 nice one and it flings. Pretty Cool. I dont know what the difference could be but mines like the evo.
I really didn't see that big of a difference, as a previous poster said who cares

Yes, yes, and yes. I couldn't agree with you more. I never would have noticed that tiny spec of baby dust under my screen had I not been here looking for problems. The UI on this phone might not be as smooth as it can be (I still think the next update will cure that much like on my droidX) but this phone is in no way laggy. People these days expect perfection, and that simply isn't possible. Even an iPhone has problems.

Exactly sir ,gave you a thanks for that one
I had this problem with Sense lagging, it's gone back to the retailer though but not for this, for a dodgy earpiece.
Mine spins like the EVO does in that vid... Dunno.
Guys Sense 3.0 on DHD runs smoother than both Sensation and Evo 3D. It's obvious that it's all about software optimization! It will come....
I have updated to the leaked 1.34.415.1 and now sense is MUCH smoother than when I was on 1.28.401.1
As for the caraousal effect, I can now spin it from the first swipe, just like the EVO 3D in the video which was not possible before except after several consecutives swipes.
I just discovered that my Homescreen does the carousel in one fast swipe BUT ONLY from my main homescreen., starting to think that this isn't software non-optimization but rather that our devices' software was planned to be this way!.
Discovered this because I'm drunk and did an extra fast swipe and the carousel immediately went into effect. I almost died of sheer amazement!!!!!!!! :-D

I love it like I love my own dangly bits. I know this information is meaningless but its the truth. I even play with my phone much more than my bits.

And it's not socially frowned upon to play with a sensation in public - and if you get your dangly's out you are gonna be in lotsa trouble ;D
Seriously though this is a great phone. Wasn't sure if it was worth the upgrade from a Desire HD but this is all around better. Camera is faster, screen looks much nicer, speaker is better, battery lasts longer, phone is lighter and nicer to hold. I love it to bits.
Sgs 2 is a little better but the screen res looks too small after having the sensation and it didn't feel as nice in the hand.
Sent from my Leedroided Htc Sensation 4g!
I agree, Sgs 2 is waay too light for me.
The sensation is okay. Is not great in my opinion. In fact I think it underwhems.
Had mine for 2 weeks now, upgraded from a Desire.
I love it. Got excellent battery life at the mo, its fast, more space to install apps. Camera is decent, and it looks n feels great. A rubber case is handy to give you more grop on the phone
Yeah, need a new phone, but should it be the Sensation or the Evo3D? Gonna root the sh*t out of it, so I will keep that in mind
What do u prefer a 3D-screen or Full-HD camcorder?
I would say both phones are almost the same ... let the dice decide
Sensation comes with a dice app which is handy for choosing

I would agree with this, ultimately you're getting the same device under the hood. The Evo 3D does have 1GB of RAM, where the Sensation has HTC's favorite, 768 MB of RAM. Dual 5MP cameras to one 8MP cam. Both qHD, both 4.3 in screens, blah blah blah. Evo's battery life is worse than the Sensation's IIRC.
I have an Sensation on AT&T here in the states, and I'm extremely happy with it. But messing around with the Evo 3D at the Sprint stores makes me want one of those too lol. Both awesome phones, you can't go wrong really.
They are almost the same phone. You should ask yourself if you prefer Sprint or T-Mobile.
HTC Sensation. Period.
If you want Sense 3.0.. Then for sure Evo 3D Due to higher ram..
I assume Evo 3D is better. But its also more expensive.. But seems that sensation have more system support
.. evo 3D has 1GB of ram .. is the "more" really noticable ? i dont think so!
sensation will be better
So I side purchased a HTC sensation to compare wit our G2x and I have to say the G2x is not even comparable with it. The games run so horrible laggy on the sensation and the screen is so unclear compared to IPS display. The only good thing is the camera and even so it still performs horribly in dark places compared to the great flash and focus of the G2x. Here is where Tegra's chip making is superior and I noticed everything from battery life to app loading, multi tasking and even ICS performance was better even if the Sensation has leaked official firmware. So props to all the devs that have made our G2x comparable to such phones as the HTC Sensation and more.

Yes, full s-off & ran various gingerbread systems including sense, stock, aosp, and miui. But to be fair, since I'm running CM9 on my G2x I loaded Android Revolution ICS Sense 3.6 and even alpha Sense 4.0 to compare ICS functionality. Through out 2 weeks I tested battery life and that's how I came to the conclusion that the G2x is overall better. Their is way more devs on the sensation but because of the size most of each ROM or mod is very unsupported unlike our community where we have a few but very dedicated devs with amazing rom's.

I love the qHD rez of the Sensation, but after playing with them for around 15 minutes, I liked the G2X more. The screen is brighter, clearer, I like the aesthetics of it, and the 1.3 mp FFC compared to the VGA on the Sensation. The Sensation was thinner I think, but also a bit slower. Not sure if this had to do with Sense running the whole time or the Snapdragon CPU being crap. It has 768 MBs of RAM compared to our 512, so I thought it would handle multitasking better.

I really wanted the sensation because I do like the look of the HTC devices. Now I want an Amaze but I am very content with the G2x. May pick one up to play around with at some point.
At one point of time I swore by HTC device. After exploring around with different manufacturers ie Samsung, LG etc. I'm not so thrilled by their lower hi class devices such as the Sensation, Evo 3D etc.
I have had my share of ppcs, androids and etc. I adore the performance of my G2x and tegra 2.

+1 I've owned HTC, Samsung and LG devices and I would put HTC's hardware as dead last out of the bunch. I use a co-worker's Sensation pretty often and there is no comparison between the two devices. The camera, the lone redeeming quality of the Sensation, takes pictures that look good on the device, but terrible once you view them in full size on a tablet or computer. I was tempted to get a Sensation when I bought the G2X because it had a fully functional ICS ROM (albeit one that is a Sense ROM with Sense stripped instead of AOSP). I'm glad I chose the G2X. The Sensation is not a bad phone, just not a great one either.

Is it just me or is the sensation very similar to the htc one s minus the adreno 225 where as the sensation has adreno 220?
The CPU has been improved immensely. So has the camera. The screen is also super amoled but pentile matrix :/ so that can be argued I guess.

The screen of the HTC One s is better than the screen of the HTC Sensation.
I prefer having removable batteries, and removable SD storage.
In day to day usage, the Sensation offers me exactly what I need as it is already quite powerful. I don't game either.
Sure the One S is a better phone, but not really worth the upgrade IMO. I'll keep waiting, maybe might get the next Google Flagship phone at the earliest. (And that is a big might.)

they are definately similar but the one s would be better of course i like to think of it as an upgrade to the sensation, 4g, xe, amaze 4g, and rezound which if you look at it they are all very similar in design or specs it is like part 6 of the sensation saga the design is very similar on the one s and sensation just more polished i think so if you combine the amaze+sensation+rezound+new cpu+different screen (not saying better since i like lcd compared to amoled screen)= one s

That's exactly my opinion.
Plus - it has enough power for games.
Plus 64GB sdcard capabilities - and that might not be the maximum - no windy cloud storage and roaming plan for data access necessary.
No One really beats the Sensation
to me, its a load of crap!
same pixel density just super amoled for more vibrant colours
upd the ram by 200mb
camera isnt better, the camera app is, which doesnt mean it cant be ported
processor is better but, tbh, sensation is still a beast at gaming and will be until the next flagship for google comes out
If I had the money I'd upgrade..
To me it is just a perfected sensation - more ram, more unified body, faster, better screen, better camera...
Not sure why they chose to have no SD or removable battery, but guessing there are advantages otherwise HTC wouldn't have done it.

I think it has a new image processing chip too, not just the new software - so a port wouldn't give the sendation the same camera quality as the one s.

No but the Sense 4 camera app does run 99% effective on the Sensation. It's even graphically accelerated so menus and whatnot are easy to use while in the camera instead of sluggish like Sense 3.6
I just picked up the one s today and I had the sensation. The one s is a beast the camera is amazing. And honestly the pentile screen doesn't bother me I can't even tell unless my face is like an inch away from the screen bit who uses their phone like that. And its so Much faster the devs here have done a great job with the sense 4 port but is not even close to the speed of the one s. It really is a night and day difference. And as far as storage I just use google play music and it stores all my songs without taking up space. I did love the development for the sensation but this one s is a beast.it really feels like a premium phone with the aluminum body

HTC did it for quality control. That's why Apple does it. Thats why any of them do it. Makes it easier to troubleshoot an issue if you can rule out another manufacturers SD card or after market battery causing problems.
A jacked SD card or crappy after market battery leads to more warranty repairs for them.
Hopefully there will be bigger storage and more external battery cases for new Android devices if the trend continues, which I think is an absolute certainty.
Good for them, sucks for most of us who want the option.

I went to T-moble today to upgrade from my sensation to the one s, but NOPE. The pentil display was way to obvious for me. I love my display in the sensation. I could clearly see the pixles/blocks without trying. Now I have perfect 20/20 vision. It was just too obvious for me.
Now I knew about and was looking for it. IF I did nto know I might have missed it in the showroom floor, but after playing with it at home for some time it would have become very obvious. Once you see the pixles they dont go away. This was a major turn off for me.
The lack of SD no big deal at all for me. But the non removeable battery AND pentile display, I'll wait for a T-moble version of the One X or the next HTC product.
