So connecting my TF to a bravia w5500 does noting but dmesg shows hdmi handshake error.
In simple words the TF cant get a edid to know what kind of hardware is connected.
But who is ad fault here, my sony bravia or TF .
As note i only have problems with the TF every thing els is working with my bravia.
And i have a 1.4 cable (direct)
any one have same problems and dmesg ( i2c error reading edid )
Edit , a 1.3 cable does not fix it
Try plugging it to another HDMI devices and lets see what you get in dmesg.
I should try my HDMI port too to see how it works.

tested with some tv's all working
All bravia w5500 do not work , so whats up with this ( dont know if more bravia have this problems )
Try changing HDMI setup options of your TV, from a quick glance at the user manual of your TV, I can see there are lots of options for HDMI, some are specific to connecting Sony devices, try turning those off. My TV doesn't have that many HDMI options and it worked straight away.
Works fine with my Visio. I need to adjust the HDMI scaling on my TV but other than that, it's great!
Seems to work with my Bravia HX800.
Whats this HDMI scaling ?
Tested it last night. Connected my TF to my yamaha receiver's hdmi port. My only complaint is the audio volume is low and i have to crank up the receiver.
tf101 and Sony Bravia KDL 40 W 5500
Yes i have the configuration Sony Bravia KDL 40 W5500 and transformer, but with
the new cable that i receive today from ebay, the screen of my tv is black grrrrrr
but oon bravia near the icon hdmi, i can see an blue arrow just when i plug my tf.
this arrow disappear when i unplug the tf, then this cable is good but the screen is
always black !!!!!
somebody have a solution ?
Your problem is basically what this thread turned into:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111672
We're looking into it but it looks like it may be a problem in the kernel.
Well I have Brawia W5500 and also my HDMI does not work...
I have an off brand Auria tv but it works great with all my devices. I can't get hdmi out through my receiver or directly to the TV. The TF shows the mini hdmi connected and blacks the screen. I see on another thread there is a known issue with some TVs and ASUS has acknowledged it.
I have a Z4500, the HDMI from the TF works. But the picture is not great quality, the upscaling of the TF from SD to 720p is very poor.
Also trying to find out if HDMI supports dual display output? has anyone had any luck?
So still nothing?

Today I tried plugging in my TF101 to a HDMI TV.
I have a mini HDMI to HDMI adapter.
I also have a HDMI cable, and a HDMI to VGA cable.
I tried both the HDMI and VGA. Plugging these into the TV got nothing.
The TV was in Chinese, but I think everything was done correctly. I pressed the change input button Flipped through all possible inputs and nothing.
I hooked another laptop up to the TV via VGA, and it worked fine.
Is there something I need to do on the TF101 to use the HDMI output, or do I need to start testing my equipment?
I really don't want to have to go back to the Asus repair center. I've been in both of the local Asus repair centers so many times for the TF101, that everyone knows me by name and I get ushered to the front of the line. I mean, I'm glad Asus has two full fledged repair centers in Xi'an, but they don't have any parts in stock, so it is worthless to go there.
perhaps the video is hdcp protected, and your TV is not?
The video should appear immediately with no input from user (besides connecting the cable).
I have had monitors and an old TV not supporting hdcp and it just gave me a black image (or no image, same thing).
I have to have my projector off when I connect the hdmi cable THEN turn my projector on.
This is my case and works every time
When i got the TF and red that it has a HMDI port.
I thought, sweet! thats cool!
Then i was looking for a cable and started thinking, why the hell would i connect my TF to my tv?
What do you guys use the HMDI port for?
Only thing i could imagin is maybe stream a movie, but i have a Playstation3 and playstation media server that covers that for me.
Games? you have to look at the TF anyway so you know your hitting the right part of the screen.
What wonderful things can we do with this?
doing slides presentation
You can show yourself playing games on the big screen to your friends instead of 10 people crowding up on a 10.1" screen right.
But yeah, slide presentations actually do use HDMI ports. But most people stick to VGA anyway.
I output my recorded movies (camcorder) to the TV for family to view instead of crowding around the tablet.
I connect a sixaxis PlayStation controller to the dock and play N64 games on the tv. (or Cordy etc.)
connect a wireless mouse to the dock and browse the web using the large display of my 24" monitor from the other side of the room.

Your question raises an important point.
I would have loved to use the HDMI port to connect to TV or OHP Projector etc to make presentations - but apparently the Asus HDMI port is not HDCP compliant and so it would not work with many devices that do accept HDMI inputs but expect them to be HDCP compliant.
I have tried connecting my Tablet to my Panasonic LCD TV using the HDMI port and have failed.
I have tried connecting the same to my computer's LCD monitor using HDMI and it seems to work correctly because the computer monitor does not expect HDCP Compliance.
So I raise the question that you raised.
What can this HDMI port be used for? For me so far this port is useless.
Most TVs will have HDCP in at least one HDMI input.
However, sometimes not every HDMI port on the TV will be HDCP compliant
..so you could check your TV user manual and pick your HDMI input accordingly
Note: There is no firmware upgrade that can turn a non-HDCP input into a HDCP compliant input
_______
If i remember correctly - my Sony Bravia KDL-W4000 only has HDCP in HDMI connection 1
I watch movies on my HDTV through it...both recorded and streaming.
It seems useful to me...otherwise I'd be watching the 100th rerun of that 70's show...no thanks.
I use mine for teaching English classes. Hook it up to a projector for flash cards and such. It's much easier to use for teaching than a computer, since you use your fingers and not a mouse.
Hi there, I've seen some issues reported with wifi and HDMI, however, none that seem to match the symptoms I've got. Famous last words...
I have two Asus eeePad Transformers. One is at 3.2 and the other recently updated to 3.2.1
I have a mini-HDMi to HDmi cable plugged into my HP monitor via an HDMi hub as follows:
- initially a direct attach to the monitor gets a cable fault on the monitor
- via the hub and nothing else activated, HDMI "bounces" between connected and not
- Powering on my DVD player into the hub, gets HDMI working a treat.
From looking at other posts, maybe I need a different cable, anyway that;s not the issue here, just history.
One of my TF101's was updated to 3.2.1 Now that device has issues with HDMI connected. It took me ages to debug this too:
- If HDMI cable in use, WiFi "stalls/stops". e.g. web pages don't load, WiFianalyser shows no signals etc.
- When screen saver kicks in and HDMI turns off web page loads complete
Other TF101 on 3.2 is still fine.
TF101 at level 3.2.1 was connected to the charger with no difference.
Any help greatly appreciated as I have to fiddle quite a lot to use HDMI now
No problem on my TF with WiFi when HDMI connected. I watch Netflix all the time while connected to TV via HDMI cable. I have a B60 model on 3.2.1 .
Thanks nonpaq, seems like I need to know more about the level of support with the cable etc. Good to know it's not a solid problem.
Problem with hdmi and wifi
hello,
i have same isuue when hdmi connected.... wifi go away, not all the time, but its happen specially when whatch youtube movies .....
I have the same problem. I Use the revolver-rom (3.7).
I had the same problem , and i had change the canal of the wifi , and all ok
I'm on the stock ROM and have the same issue on 3.2.1. Seems to be intermittent - Works some of the time. I have noticed that the Wi-Fi signal always looks strong but web pages won't load either. Other posts seem to suggest that you need a 1.3 HDMI cable. I have a 1.3a (whatever that means)
Hdmi disables wifi
Same here. Have a Tf101. Updated to ICS two weeks ago. A week ago i bought new headphones noticed the left earphone not working. Tested with other headseats same issue. Did a factory reset, same issue. This week whenever i plug in the HDMI the internet connection slows to unusable.
I think its all hardware related. Time to send it back to the manufacturer and pick up that IPAD 2 I was offered today.
I've got Sony Bravia TV (KDL60EX720) - When I connect my Samsung tablet 7.7 p1000 model which is sitting on a dock which has a mini hdmi connection which runs into my tv via a mini hdmi to hdmi converter it does not show up as a connected device.
I've taken the cable out put it back in to see if the TV recognise - but Not happening.
I've put the tablet in sleep mode and turned the display back on to see if that helps - NO
Any tips or suggestions on if anyone had a similar issue connecting hdmi dock to sony bravia tv?

Delete this thread mods. No longer required. I've fixed the issue.
Could u give us the solution so next time someone is having similar problem they could find your topic and try if your solution works out for them? It would add some information to this already quite quiet forum. Thanks!

I'm a science teacher and I use a galaxy note 10.1 (original) to do my lectures and I project the image on the screen with allshare cast. The problem is, our school has old projectors with no HDMI and only XGA resolution. Up until now, I have been using an HDMI --> DVI cable which displays the image clearly. The problem of course is that there is no sound. I don't need sound most of the time, so I've been getting by without it.
However, after reading a few threads on here I found that people had success using allshare with the Cable Matters active HDMI --> VGA with audio cable on amazon. So I picked up one of those. I connected the cable and sound, made sure to power it with the usb cable, and it shows up with just a black screen. No matter what configuration it is in, it just shows a black screen. When I pull the HDMI cable out of allshare and put it into a laptop (acer chromebook), the image displays on the screen fine. So the VGA cable and adapter both work.
Allshare works on the projector with DVI, but not VGA, whereas a laptop works with both on the same projector. Any help?
Does that HDMI-VGA adapter support HDCP? I'm pretty sure there's been a change to the ASCD to require HDCP support on the "display" end.

I did see that, though I'm still on the old LJ02 firmware and furthermore the others I've heard with hdcp issues received a message saying that the device was not hdcp compatible. In my case I cant even see the allshare cast instruction screen (it's black) but I CAN see the dongle on my device and connect.
