[Q] Changing System Font on Thunderbolt - Thunderbolt General

I was recently sent a Droid Charge by Verizon as a replacement for my Thunderbolt which fell victim to the seemingly constant reboots after the May OTA update, but I HATE the Charge and am sending it back and want to keep my Thunderbolt now. However, the Charge had an option to change the system font (and, when you changed the system font, it changed almost EVERYTHING on that phone to that font, including things like the names of streets on the maps in Google Navigation, etc - and I loved that!) and now I want to be able to do that on my Thunderbolt. I have a few quick questions about that:
1. What is the easiest way to change my Thunderbolt's system font?
2. Do you HAVE to be rooted in order to do that? If so, what is the absolute simplest way to root my Thunderbolt? You'll have to pardon me, I'm VERY knowledgeable about tweaking Windows PC's and I know a lot about smartphones, but I've never rooted and I'm pretty clueless about doing that!
3. Is it possible to root my Thunderbolt and still have it appear completely stock, except for changing the font? I don't want to change my phone in any other way except for the font - with the possible exception of deleting some of the Verizon bloatware/crapware!
Thanks in advance for any help!
Dennis

You can root with a guide in the Dev forum, and install a stock debloated rom.. as for changing the font, I use font changer which is a root app and as far as I can tell it themes everything.. I use the stock Ubuntu font

Thanks to the poster and the person who replied, if font changer from the market is used then the link I provided will be very helpful. Its a collection of fonts I found on xda that already edited to just copy and paste in the .fontchanger folder of your sdcard.

165 LCD Density Browser UI Glitch - FIXED

Hi Guys,
If you're one of the fans of LCD density tweak on our beloved 7" phone ;D you're likely to encounter a UI glitch on the stock browser.
I personally love the speed of the stock browser, it surpasses ANYTHING I've found on the 2.3.3 tab 7 so here it is the UI fix, not much but hey! easier on the eyes
Simply push/pull the apk with the one I attached, as usual I gave no guarantee whether this mod will brick, crash, burn, or maybe eat your dog..
Cheers!

That one glitch alone made me switch to CM7. Never could get it right myself. I tip my hat sir and say thanks.

have you reboot? what density are you in? this is exclusively 165 lcd density..
I have rebootet several times and also wiped cache. The density doesnt seem to be the problem. Im usually on 182, but i just changed it to 165.
I just copied the apk to system and then changed the permissions so they match all the other apps.
From rwxrwxrwx to rw-r--r--.

mmm btw are you on Gingerbread 2.3.3? This mod is actually part of my custom ROM based on 2.3.3

[Q] Change screen rotation delay in ICS?

(I am on the unofficial CM9 release)
Is this possible? I know the delay was set by Google to keep the screen from rotating when you don't want it to, but it doesn't bother me if it rotates on accident- and if it did bother me I'd just turn off auto-rotate. I'm not looking to speed up the animation, I want to remove or shorten the screen rotation delay. All I can find on Google is people misunderstanding this request, people saying "GOOGLE MADE IT AS A FEATURE I DON'T SEE THE PROBLEM" and people saying "AOKP ROM lets you change it" Okay well, how did the creator of the AOKP ROM do that? What file needs to be changed to modify screen rotation delay?
Thanks.
P.S: I'm not an idiot when it comes to modifying Android, I'm hardly versed in it, but I'm confident with what I do. I'm not some random idiot.
you need to change framework parameters. you can either change the SETTLE_TIME_MS= in the framework (see http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24869) and compile the rom from source,
or try to decompile framework and change with the method in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1413304 which may work for ics.
both are somewhat time consuming to do though... so people would rather recommend you flash an aokp rom.
Well I'm not too keen on compiling a whole rom lol so I tried the framework.jar edit. I followed the directions exactly and when I rebooted I got the "Android Optimizing" like it does after an OTA and... No change.
Is the feature a default AOKP thing? Cause if it is I may have to check out the Uniporn rom.
In the unicorn Rom control setting at the bottom of general ui is rotation delay. I don't recall if cm9 has same option

Thanks for the help guys, looks like I'll be flashing UNiPoRN. Hopefully I'll be able to MMS with that rom as well.
Put these as your settings it'll work great! (Password is: CINGULAR1)

4g icon (blue ATT ICS)

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS AS A RESULT OF USING THE FILES POSTED HERE!
Edit: thread looks horrible on xda phone app, will fix this when I have some time.
I want to thank ENDLESS2232, for working the 4g icon set I requested.
I wanted to, create a icon set myself, so I could use until I had the one he created(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1643176), and since I have the att ones I thought it would be nice to share them.
I pulled these out of the HTC One X, and converted them to blue to match my black and blue theme on tweaked 2.0.
I dont know how to create a flash-able file so I copied the systemui.apk from my phone, and that is what is posted here. Therefore only use it if you are currently on black and blue theme from tweaked 2.0. (REMEMBER I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT IS SAFE TO DO THIS)
What I did was replace the file on my phone using "Root Explorer"
That is what it looks like:

Here is the icon set if someone wants to make a flashable file, or use ninjamorph:

Here is it on my phone:
I have never done anything like this before, so I have no Idea if there is a better placement for these files on systemui.apk .... Any comments, are appreciated!
Thanks, I just copy and posted the systemui rebooted and now have a custom 4g symbol. The blue is a little fall, but still looks great.

Do you have a 3g icon like this. Also it could stand to be a lighter blue. It looks ok unless my phone is set to minimum brightness though. Thanks for this.
I went back to the original because this is too dark and the only way I can see it is to have my phone set to full brightness.

De-Bloat list for stock rom

I don't know if there is a thread already for this. Can anyone list the apps and bloatware that are safe to freeze using titanium backup on the stock rom...

Download Scott's clean Rom, much easier then doing it yourself. Completely stock, debloated, tweaked, and nice mods if you want them.

Additional debloat!
A helpful tool I use to clear up space and make the system faster is an app called "DiskView", downloadable free from Play Store. It analyzes all partitions and lists directories/files and a percentage bar of how much space they're taking. With this I found a bunch of instructional how-to videos in the system/media/video/GuidedTour folder. Also, taking up some space are the hidden Voice Recognition language packs under /system/VODB. Delete all the language code folders you don't want. Also, this using like 10MB but also a privacy concern, there was a face recognition database under /system/lib. If you don't use the preloaded Swype keyboard, even after you uninstalled it, there's an extra database under /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so. Delete.
If you have a Galaxy Note, it might be worth noting that the S Note templates that you could never seem to delete can now be removed permanently. They actually use up a lot of space. First, delete the templates from your usual S Note folder on your SD card, obviously. Then navigate to /system/preload and /system/preloaddata and delete everything related to S Note in there. For me there was nothing other than S Note stuff. Should be the templates in one and a database in the other. Once you reboot, they'll never come back!
Enjoy!

Multiple App Install in Google Play Store...

I just stumbled upon a nifty little feature that I don't remember seeing mentioned anywhere before. At first, I thought it was an Android "L" developer preview feature, but low & behold, I just tried it on my HTC One & sure enough it is live there as well.
At any rate, I am curious when Google implemented this feature? I don't know if it was in one of the many GMS/Play Store updates, or if it has been there all this time & I just missed it somehow.
Give it a try, if you haven't. Just go into apps, select the "all apps" tab & long press any app that is not installed already. It will put the device into multiple selection mode, where you can select & install multiple applications much easier than selecting individual apps & pressing install for each one. Sure, it's not as easy as using TB or another backup utility, but for those of us that are bumping between KK & Android "L", where most system & data restore apps don't work yet due to context changes, it definitely saves a little time.
I am interested to know if you can do this on any JB or ICS device too. Try it out & let me know.

I think it was implemented some updates ago, not many but. 2-3 back I think.
It doesn't matters what OS version you have, Play Store and Services go on their own way so I think anyone can get it.
Greetings!
I've discovred this when i changed my nexus mid-may.
