[Q]Stuck on boot animation after CWM Restore. - HTC Inspire 4G

So I flashed CoreDroid HD GB 2.3.3 V7.0 to my phone earlier coming from CM7.0.3. I cleared /data, /cache, dalvik cache, and my battery stats before flash. I of course made a backup in CWM before hand. So I decided I didn't like the ROM so I ran CWM recovery, there were no errors but when I rebooted it got stuck on the boot animation. I removed the battery several times and tried rebooting but it just keeps getting stuck on the boot animation. Sooooooo, any ideas?

Sounds like a bad nandroid I think. Try to flash a new fresh ROM and see if its boot and then try to flash the back up. If it still doesn't work then sorry your gonna have to start fresh

This happened to me once. I suggest whenever the radio/whatever is successfully flashed through hboot, delete any PDIMG98.img from your SD card immediately. It makes restore back-up events much less of an event...I didn't know the removal / reinsert the SD card trick...I reasoned I needed to get that file off my card so ran to Radio Shack just before close to get a micro SD card reader, so I could delete PDIMG98 using my PC...just removing and re-inserting the card really works huh? Cool .

I should have said get it off the root of your SD card post flash. There are reasons to keep a copy of your radio flash on your phone. Just not in the root directory of course...

stuck at boot animation of the cyanogen cat
Hi Guys,
I am a newbie and I had recently flashed cyanogenmod t0lteatt stable version on to my SGH-T889V which was working perfectly fine.
I took a nandroid backup after installing the above
My original baseband was t889vvlucmk4 and was working fine with cyanogenmod
Later on I thought of installing the fancy DN3 v5+ rom
I did not see that this one is for a different model of Note 2.. i.e. it was for aN7100 version and resulted in a BASEBAND UNKNOWN and thus no signal.
I tried wipe cache / wipe reset factory and wipe dalvik and restore the nandroid backup ...
Now I am stuck in Cyanogenmod boot animation.
I waited for at least 15-20 minutes. Nothing happened
Any Tips and tricks ?

Dude. U flashed a froyo Samsung ROM to an inspire. Not good!!!

[Q] Help Flashing a Rom

I have been trying to flash RCMix3D KINGDOM v1.0. I have tried it about 4 times and every time I try it does this. Please Help.

check out the GENERAL FIXES section in this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033353 maybe it will help out with your issue
stop flashing it through rom manager and actually go into cwm, and wipe data, cache, dalvik manually then flash the rom.
the guide he linked you to has that process listed in detail.
i have read in different forums that rom manager is not auto wiping data correctly.. best way around this is to reboot into clockwork mod, go to mounts and storage, wipe cache, data, and system. go to advances and also wipe dalvik cache. then re flash rom and reboot.. also be patient not all roms boot on the first boot at a fast speed. hope this helps
Thank you so much! One problem, every time I get into hboot it won't let me do anything and it starts to apply something... Is it trying to reinstall the PD98IMG that I have on my SD card? I still have that from rooing. Do I still need it?

If your referring to removing the PD98IMG zip, no that not bad at all...once its flashed...you dont need it on your SD card anymore.
And if your referring to wiping cache, data dalvik....thats standard practice before flashing any rom....so no, not bad.
Thank you so much! You guys are great!!!!

Need Help

I tried installing a new Rom tonight, LeeDroid. Everything was going smooth until it booted up after installation. It goes to the lockscreen, gets 5+ errors, then reboots. I cannot get it to boot into recovery. I really need this problem solved fast. If anyone can help me, I can spare you a few dollars over paypal. Thanks in advance.

phone stuck in hboot

So my phone is in hboot... it's s-off for sure.. I have flashed many roms and whatnot with no issues. So I reboot my phone today, and it boots to hboot screen.
I've tried to get it to go past but nada. It checks for SD card then i can't select recovery or anything..
Also I thought I got an ATT stock img, was just going to try to redo it or whatnot, put that on roo, and it gets stuck parsing..
Any help would be appriciated.
Also... It's almost like the volume down is stuck on, because it seems to function and then won't let me move after it scans for SD IMG.
Did it just reboot into hboot on its own or did you put a pd98img on it and now it is stuck?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
If you have an image on card do the following. Take out sd. Boot into hboot. Scroll down to recovery but don't press. Put sd back in and then select recovery. If there is a pd98img it won't let you do anything except flash the image. If its corrupt than it won't do anything.
Always remove pd98img from card after using. Hboot menu is inaccessible with a pd98img on sd card.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
Took SD card out.. Still booting to that hboot ya know with the fastboot, recovery, simlock, ect.
Can't move on the menu once booted.
And it got stuck on htc sense. Basically pulled battery then my phone had a bad day.
Like gizmoe said pd98img file will cause like 90% of boot loop
Or if you have a card reader just use that to delete the pd98 file
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
So my phone won't boot even with the SD card not in it... and it happened before I put that img on the root.
You've got to have an IMG on there. Find a way to delete it and you'll be good.

Did you try putting card back in before moving through hboot menu? Just leave it out while entering hboot and it will skip the file check and then put sd back in. Then try to make a selection.

so I signed up for ATT warranty replacement..... hoping they don't notice the s-off lmao!
Why don't you just get a SD reader, delete the IMG and move on? AT&T will notice the S-Off and won't fix it. The Service Center will.

They will definitely notice and will not honor your warranty. Sounds like hboot became corrupt somehow. If you have a card reader you could try using genepooles s-on tool. You might still be able to run a pd98img. That way you will be s-on and can send it in.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
thanks I'll try it... any of you know a good download for factory img? and If i get that I'll try the s-on.
Go here stock rom
Scroll down to third post for pd98img
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
so I'm still playing with it... It looks like it gets stuck on parsing, then I can hit down to cancel, but thatssss about it.
so I fixed it... the method for this fix is quite complex but it worked for me.
1. Got an otterbox.
2. Enclosed phone in otterbox.
3. Got really ticked off and threw the phone at the wall.
4. Now it's working .
Really I think the issue was with the volume down key, and me chunking the phone must have rattled something right.. If only I could get duct tape involved somewhere this would truely be a legit fix.
Also thanks the people that replied really did reach out to help.. Cheers mates!
quick reply on this.. so the volume key is still a factor in this thing... Due to this I my phone is booting in a "Safe Mode" so I'm going to see what options I have to put it in an S-ON and install AT&T stock rom,,, doing this I would hope the engineers that diagnose the phones won't see the previous root.
So if anyone has any suggestions while I navigate the boards for a s-on / AT&T stock rom let me know...
Only hiccup I might meet is actually getting the img zip to load to actually flash the device,, I'm thinking the S-ON is the most important thing however.
Here is a link to a pd98img to put on sd card that will do the unroot process. It's your best bet. s on pd98img

Thanks again. Just slowing down and following the directions is usually an easier way to a solution...
but back to the original problem. I still can't get the sd card to read. If I go to the gallery like I want to look at the pictures stored on it, I can see them greyed out in the background, but I get an error message. In settings, storage, it detects the card and tells its volume, but won't let me look at it.? At a loss. Gonna redownload the cm nightly and reflash and see, but I don't get it.

I know you might not want to hear this, but it might be your SD card...
Those things don't last forever and errors on them can sometimes be tricky to diagnose because bad sectors can sometimes still be read even if they are bad.
My suggestion, if your PC can still read the card then you should start by backing everything up. Then, try using another SD card in the phone. If the phone can read that, then there might be something wrong with the first card. You can also try using the phone to reformat the problem card.
Try to debug in a way that determines if maybe the card is the problem. Just the other day I had a 32 gig card go bad on me. It happened when my phone fell and came out of it's case. After that the card didn't work anymore. I remembered seeing "shock proof" on sandisk's descriptions, but I always thought it was a marketting thing. Maybe it wasn't. There's also a possibility that my card simply failed before I dropped the phone, and the reboot caused the system to remount the card and finally see the problem.
Either way, it went bad and I lost my stuff. A cautionary tale.

[Q] **NEED HELP** Phone Stuck on HTC Screen after Radio Update!!

Hello,
So hopefully I haven't screwed up royally here, but here's the problem:
Rooted phone, running CM7.2 Nightly (I forget the version)
Went to update radio from this wiki (wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Speedy_Info) page - checksum matched.
Renamed file to PG06IMG.zip
Booted into HBOOT, ran update, rebooted.
HBOOT Info:
-----------------
SPEEDY XE ENG S-OFF
HBOOT - 0.93.2001 (PG0610000)
RADIO - 1.08.00.0506 (Seems the radio did update)
eMMC-boot
-------------------
Tried to reboot but now stuck on the HTC Logo screen.
What do I do now? And can you explain in layman's terms please? Still not privy to the technical stuff.
Latest radio for the Shift is 1.08.01.0111, do a search for it here, flash it in the same manner and see if it boots.

Well the only screen I can get to is the HBOOT screen, which automatically tries to update from the PG016IMG.zip file on my sd card. Even I choose not to update, my only option is reboot. I assume the only other way around this is to delete that file of my sd card from my computer...unless there's another way I'm missing.
I'll attempt that as well once I'm at my home computer.

So good news I got my phone to boot again. I was able to update the radios with the latest ones, however it was continuing to get stuck at the HTC boot screen. I deleted the .zip file, was able to boot into recovery, cleared cache and dalvik cache, and after a minute or two was able to boot up.
Thanks again for the help!
And now I just need to figure out this battery drain issue. Went from 100% to less than 10% in less than 2 hours
Let me know how that radio works out and if there is any changes in the touch panel

The radios and touchpanel firmware is much newer
You can find the bootloader flashable zip in my dev-host, it says which is which in the descriptions, but the firmware update is the 12 point something MB one

Get yourself Better Battery Stats. It will let you know what's going on. Sounds like a rouge app, or wicked wake lock.
