email and other stock apps? - Verizon Droid Charge

I am running GummyChaged 1.8.1 and love it, but like stock email app and some other stock apps, how do I get them installed again?
The reason why I like stock apps is, it shows all my folders from hotmail apart from inbox and also allows customization, I have tried K9 mail and not happy with it.

I'd assume there would be a ROM for it but I haven't seen one that has individual stock apps, only a full restore, sorry D:
You could also check the Market(if you haven't already), that's about all I can think of.

[Q] E-Mail Notification

Okay, I have been through this so much. Email notification for anything other than GMail.
On stock, any emails that come in from say Yahoo, AOL etc get the notification bubble on the Mail app. However seems like if we flash a ROM that is senseless that this just doesn't work.
Things I have tried:
Wiped Davik Cache and re-flashed ROM
Used POP3 settings for AOL
Used IMAP settings for AOL
Used Launcher Pro, no go
Used ADW Launcher with Notification add on.
Installed 3rd party ROM with Sense.. and it works perfect. So what is it that a senseless ROM breaks?
Looking for a program that either one shows new email notifications (bubble) or what settign to make it work in a Non-Sense ROM.
Please I am not looking to kill off my AOL account as I have had it for 10 plus years. I have both gmail and aol and would like to use both.
You can link the aol account to your gmail account.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
That would make all emails go through gmail. Thanx for suggestion. Lookign for why it works with sense to have both inboxes and get notificiation no problem..
Because it's a feature of HTC Sense. You run a "senseless" rom, that feature is removed.
So the capability is completely broken in a senseless ROM? No way?

I'm sure it isn't completely broken, there is most likely a workaround somewhere. Unfortunately, I only use Gmail, and run a Sense based rom, so I am not sure how it would be done. The AOSP mail client has different features from the Sense mail client on Android.
I think I get what your saying. If the mail client was left in from the Sense, whihc it usually is, that apk works only as a sense based. So when sense isn't runing it down't work anymore.
With our great developers around here would have thought a fixed would have been done by now..

I don't think very many people use AOL anymore, so it probably isn't a priority at all. You might be able to PM a developer, or post a request in the Q&A forum for it.
I get that, but you also have exchange, yahoo and all the others this phone can use.. not everyone in the world has gmail. LOL
I do appreciate you answering tho... must be some answer out there...

I can't seem to get K-9, maildroid or enhanced email to work reliably with Sense. However, when I go to sense they all work perfectly. Go figure

[Q] AOSP e-mail questions

I just flashed gummycharged 1.9.1 FE on my charge and I am pretty happy for the most part. I like that it is debloated and I absolutely love the V6 supercharger
However, there are a couple little annoyances with some of the apps especially the stock e-mail app. I was wondering if there are fixes or maybe other versions.
For instance:
1) The stock e-mail app does not do zoom at all. It makes html e-mails very difficult to read because you constantly have to pan left and right.
2) Also the stock e-mail app shortcuts don't have the unread count badge.
3) I can't figure out how to download attachments. For an attached pdf, I only get the open option, but cannot download it onto the sd card.
Is there an updated stock e-mail version that has these features, because the samsung version did all I believe?
Thanks
PS. Please don't suggest other market e-mail apps. I am perfectly happy with the e-mail client except for these minor annoyances. My experience with 3rd party apps to replace stock apps usually involve much shorter battery life.
I would also like a different e-mail app if someone can suggest one, the only gripe I have with stock is that I can't zoom(very big annoyance actually). Thanks in advance!
If you're using exchange, i recommend Touchdown. It has pinch to zoom as well

Does Samsung Ever Upgrade Stock Apps?

Hi all, I'm a very recent switcher from iPhone (just got the SR 5 days ago after owning the original iPhone and then the 3gs for the past 4 years) and had a question about the stock apps.
I really like the stock Samsung e-mail app over the Gmail app for managing my gmail accounts but one thing that is a glaring omission is the inability to archive e-mails. I know you can do this through the Gmail app but to me the Samsung app is just slicker plus it has unified inbox which was great on the iPhone.
In the original iPhone mail app you used to not be able to archive Gmail email for the longest time until a fairly recent update (i think it was the same update that gave us unified inbox- not sure though). Along the same lines, is it possible that Samsung will ever update the stock e-mail app to support archiving? If so, how do you update stock apps? Does it only come with a new OS update like ICS?
I guess I could be persuaded into looking at 3rd party apps but I think I really prefer to stay with stock because I know it has been specifically designed with this phone's hardware in mind and is probably the most optimized with regards to memory management, battery, etc. Thanks!
gmail for android supports archiving already.
You might be able to archive with activesync/imap if you move the email out of the inbox folder but that's more of a hack then anything else.
To answer your original question I would not expect many changes to the stock apps excluding those that are in the market (maps, gmail, etc) until we get ics.

Stock Email Questions

I like the UI of the new ICS Email app. So I've using it for a bit, but it has a couple of issues.
The dealbreaker is the way it handles attachments:
1. If I get a zip archive, it refuses to let me download it, because it can harm the phone.... The I tried emailing to myself the eWallet viewer app from my Nexus S, and Email would not let me save it, because it can't find an application to open it with.... WTF?!
2. The other issue is that there is no on-icon notifications for the Email app.
Any ideas how to fix these?
So, does anyone know a workarround which allows for the downloading of all attachments in the stock Email client?
I am using K-9 now, but the ICS stock email has a much better designed UI, so I would love to be able to use it.

Enable Stock Email App in Lollipop 5.0

I know a lot of people really like the new gmail app. Visually speaking it is very nice but it does not have a combined view which did not work for me. I also liked using the two different widgets within the apps to differentiate my email account.
Here is a quick and easy method of enabling both the stock email and gmail app. You must have your system rooted. First install Uninstaller Pro (RU) to remove both the stock email app and gmail app. Next install both the stock email and gmail app from the play store. That's it. You are back to the setup you are used to.
well, it worked in the sense that I can open the stock email app again, but it won't connect to my hotmail account. I tried both the auto setup and the manual method, either it gives me server error or a username/password error.
I might be wrong here (haven't tested it because I don't use the stock email app), but wouldn't something like titanium backup also be able to uninstall the apps?
