So I am using the 8gb out of my evo since tmobile didnt give me the 16gb. I heard it is class 2 which is really slow would upgrading to like a class 6 or 10 boost my speeds?
EDIT: With SD tools I get a 9.0MB/s write and a 11.3MB/s read. Isnt that RS SUPER low? My friends tbolt card gets like 25mbs RS.

Would that be the right SDHC card? Seems a bit too cheap.

My speeds are pretty crappy (Read: 5.9, write: 17.4). Got a Transcend class 4 32gb card for $55 in amazon. Great price if you ask me. The card that came with the phone used to be able to burst at faster speeds but they weren't steady, so I had trouble recording HD videos with the camcorder app (720p).
The 32 gig card lets me record videos without it stopping though, and I can fit my whole music collection without converting to a lower bitrate (~20 gigs) and I still have enough space for NANDroid backups and whatever else.
Your write speed owns mine but my read owns yours. Wtf?
Still on the stock 16gb class 2 card. Performs okay. still waiting for someone to make a "good" class 10 card. Those seem to be hit or miss still.
9.7 Read
22.3 Write

Those are class 2 speeds? Then I am getting a class 10 16gb or 32gb card.

I am guessing no one except online has the 32 gig sd card. Plenty of places have the 16, but not able to find the 32 besides online. Makes me think any online or not legit.
Anyone have an idea?
I got mine from verizon. I'm not sure if they have them in the store but it was free next day shipping so I bought mine online.
Why was this thread even created when you replied to a thread of the exact same topic at around 7am the same day? Either way....
I tried to organize a group buy for 32GB Class 6 MicroSD cards when I was still on the Samsung Moment forums...needless to say, it was harder than I thought. It seems that they're starting to become more reliable and coming down in price vs when they first started hitting the market. Early on people complained about issues of actually only storing 2-16GB's, sometimes losing information, etc due to something with the formatting of the cards from their producers. As time has gone, they seem to have gotten better and are down to around $50...but I have yet to try one personally.
I got my sandisk 32GB from amazon for around 100USD its a class 2 but read good things about class 2 sandisk vs cheap class 4/6 cards
just ran a test and i write @ 5.5-6.5 MB/s and read @ 11MB/s on mine... testing installed in phone mounted to pc with stock cable
and 29.71GB useable space

That is about the same speed of the 16 GB samsung card that came with my phone.
That's because theyre both only Class 2 cards. They work fine, but once we get apps2sd working, we'll need Class 6 cards for them to be efficient.

a good C2 will beat a cheap C6... just saying.. class 6 is rated differently by different manufacturers.. some rate buy write and some rate by speed...
sandisk is by write and even so i am writing at 6MBs and reading at 11MBs which is plenty fast for a2sd-ext, actually its in spec for a C6 sd... and thats not using a straight card reader.. thats just mounted and using stock cable fwiw...
just sayin... dont get some 50 dollar "class6" and expect miracles when it comes to speed.

I know what you're "just sayin", both times. Per a Wikipedia article from the people who first wrote the Apps2SD app stated that a Class 6 card is needed to match the processor speed so the app can run efficiently.

yes, but a class 6 writes at a minimum of 6MB... that being said a GOOD C2 will be just as efficient.
Hi! It seems that there have been significant interests in SD cards for the sensation in this forum but I noticed that the threads are scattered. So I created this thread to hopefully consolidate these Q&As. So, the next time you see a good SD card deal, state:
1: Its price
2: Capacity (Of course)
3: Brand
4: Whether you placed an order or it has been shipped.
Hopefully this thread does put all the SD card concerns centrally and users will find it hugely convenient too. For irresistible deals, I may update them in this post so that everyone can *rush* for it!
I have this card and so far so good. It actually has a price drop since I bought it. Looks like a good deal to me.

I bought two of these for me and the wife. Performs like a champ. I get 7mb p/s when moving data from the pc to phone. A little faster when I use my usb card reader on the computer. Very fast. Performs better than I thought it would.

What is the max read/write speed Galaxy R supports? If I go for Class 10, can Galaxy R fully make use of the speed microSD offers?
Also I was going through other forums and there were comments mentioning Class 2 cards of some companies (read sandisk) faster than Class 4/Class 6 cards of others Is it true?
Final question - which one should I go for - sandisk or transcend?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

i think you should go for a class 4 card.
as this phone does not have 1080p recording, we wont be even using the class 4 card to its full capacity.
A class 6 in my opinion. Is better to have more, than less.
Considering price, availability in India and some reading up of threads on XDA forums, I bought Transcend 32GB Class 4 micro sdhc on ebay (1800INR/36USD). Using it on my GR and satisfied till now. Getting 4.4 MB/s Write and 18.6 MB/s Read speeds on an average.
Basicaly the diference between class 4, 6 and 10 will be in the writing, because reading they will be near 18-19MB/s. I have bench with sd tools and Antutu a 2Gb class 4 by kingston and my actual 32Gb class 10 by Samsung. The diference in writing speed is evident, but using one, or the other is not a big diference because this phone needs only 2-3mb/s writting.
In another hand, with tegra 2 and the 5Mpx sensor it's not impossible to think about an improvement in recording video in fullhd in a near future, of course with no high rate of fps... But this posibility has to be considered now because flash memories are in a cheap moment and class 10 microsd can be found at the same price of a 2 months ago class 4.
Another advantage with the class 10 microsd is that if you use to load movies, or heavy files to your phone you will need less than a half of time to transfer them. And I think, but take that as a feeling, the class 10 microsd opens quicker the galery, specialy when you have an album with a big number of pics. It could be sth related with latency, or better acces to diferent parts of the memory... This makes me exceptic about the reading benchs of Antutu.
I leave you some screencaptures of the benchmarks.

If you use to have a lot of apps, games and gps maps it could be interesting to change the external microsd memory to the main memory of the system. This will let you have 32gb for apps, games, etc... And in this case the best choice is a class 10 memory, because it will increase the system performance!!
hey there pplz!
well, that's my question... may i use a class 10 micro sd (8 gb) in my optimus one p500?
thanks in advance

tnx a lot dude!
yes, i am using currently class 10 8gb and works perfectly, but gets small if you wanna play ps1 games that are 700MB each, so i have to ask:
Is there any benefits of using class 10 sd card on our phone over class 4, cuz i wanna get 16gb but class 4 is much more cheaper...???

You will get enough space for sure, but it won't be as fast as class 10. i.e. the read and write speed of class 10 microSD is much faster than class 4.
You can go for class 6, if its available to u in good price, class 6 is satisfactorily faster than 4...
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
go for 6.
coz i had read somewhere that class 10 is apt for digicams with incredible read write speed capacities.
i dont think a class 10 would be value for money for our O1..
while class 6 works perfect
i don't think we need a class 10 card...get the class6 16gb versions...
I have personally tested the class 10 and class 6 micro sd cards. There were not much difference and as such, I'd recommend for the class 6 card.
get a class 6 minimum and i do belive the added speed is a bonus so you should go for the highers class possible, 8 gb seems enough unless you want to store like 200 ps1 games for what ever odd reason. But go for the highest capacity / class you can afford tbh no sense getting a class 4 16gb just becouse it's cheaper by a bit. I don't know about prices where you live but here they are dirt cheap.
from what I read somewhere in the internet, class 10 are best for file streaming/sequential writes, it will reach max speed when you transfer very large file such as handycam, but for small files it will never reach max speed, instead, lower class such as class 6 (for other brands) or class 4 for Sandisk, it's random writes surpasses class 10.
I use Sandisk 8Gb class 4, and it reached 9Mb/s for writing & 34Mb/s for reading.
I'm using transcend 8GB class 10, had only 250mb free wen i tested.

From the CNET review: "The back cover pulls off to access the battery and microSD card slot, which you can fill with an up-to-64GB card (but not the 128GB you see on some other phones). "
Is that correct.. no support for 128GB ??
I saw the same review when released but I haven't seen any evidence to support that since.
it supports 128gb cards, there are videos floating around on YouTube that prove it
It supports 128GB cards
http://youtu.be/mGa5lLjfUUQ?list=UU9cbw1mHe71NbNE-21TLoug
I have a 128gb sd card in mine right now. No problems
Someone should hit up CNET and have them edit their review... bunch of Apple fanboys anyways.
I helped phone arena fix their Cat 4 error on the tmobile specs for the phone... most places are open to correction.
Same here. My 128gb SanDisk works fine in my Note 4.
Well crap... I need a 128GB card now. I already maxed out my 64GB with 1080p videos.
Looking at the UHS-3 cards 'cause of the 4k recording. Wiki
(Class 10 now evidently has 2 write speed levels. (UHS 1 10Mb min and UHS 3 30 mb min for 4K video)
The biggest I'm seeing in the UHS-3 is 64mb .
Have any of you 128 users tried to feed 4k video into it yet?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#Speed_class_rating
They printed the specs when 128gb card wasn't available. Now manufactures came out with 128gb and they just not update the specs, however for sure 128gb should work fine with various devices too (where the specs said only 64gb), not just the note.

Realize that you don't need U3 for the note 4, the Note 4 is incapable of reading/writing at those speeds. No phone out there supports those high UHS-I speeds. 4K on the Note 4 is 50Mbits (roughly 6MBytes/sec). A class 10 card is good up to 10Mbytes/sec (or 80Mbits/sec). Plenty fast for 4K.
GoPro 4 requires U3, but that's something entirely different
I bought the 128gb 48mbps SanDisk for my note 3 and it works perfect on my note 4.

When the card wasn't available? Lol what are you talking about, the 128GB microSD cards were first out in February http://www.computerworld.com/articl...leashes-world-s-first-128gb-microsd-card.html
Unless Samsung started printed the Note 4 boxes 7 months ago :silly:
The note 4 manual even states it can use 128gb cards so RTFM CNET!

Note 4 supports SDXC so I don't see why it wouldn't be able to read 128gb sd cards
