Hello All,
I've recently posted two apps on the Android Market.
They are both attached at the bottom of this post to download and they are:
Android Community Quiz

- A quiz by Android users for Android users, where questions can be constantly added by Android users with the "Android Community Quiz Master" app.
+2 for a correct answer
-3 for an incorrect answer (or running out of time)
-2 for using a skip (5 skips allowed)
Android Community Quiz Master
Market Link
- an app that allows you to add questions into the "Android Community Quiz" app.
You simply enter questions with a correct answer and two incorrect answers and then click submit. (Please refrain from profanity or anything else that others may find offensive.)
I've attached the apps below, but they are also available on the Android market for a small donation/fee.
Please let me know what you think, good or bad, or if you have any ideas on how I can make them better, please let me know.
Thanks,
Just Me/Kermagod
I've changed the names of the apps on the market.
They are now:
Quiz - Android Community Quiz
And
AC Quiz Master.
Well, it is a cool idea. However there are a total of ten questions, and I think two are about android. Also, I don't think it should constantly loop through the questions, it probably should end when you run out of questions.
Thanks for your feedback.
The whole concept was that users could enter questions themselves in the "AC Quiz Master" app , these questions then become instantly available for other users doing the quiz but, either people don't realise this or they don't find it as much fun as I hoped they would.
I was thinking the same thing about the looping questions and will do this at some point this week. I've already set it so that you only answer each question once per loop, so it shouldn't be hard to implement.
My idea going forward was that when there were a lot of questions, if you get above certain score levels, the time limited reduces.
Any other ideas/improvements welcome.
I think there should be only free (or ad-supported) apps advertised on XDA.
edit> oh okay then, I've only checked the market sry then!
Developer is including his 2 applications for free ONLY to XDA members, that is fine.

To all, please leave feedback positive or negative.
I noticed the apps weren't working because of a question that was submitted by a user, it's fixed now, so please feel free to add/answer questions again.
Thanks,
Just Me/Kermagod.

LOL, interesting! Nice job! Haha.
Does anybody have TinyWebDB experience
Okay. I now understand why the app failed.
There is a maximum amount of characters that can be entered into each value field (eg. Questions).
The way I have built the app in App Inventor means that each question is built into the same value and indexed, but now the total characters are over the limit of 500.
Hope that makes sense. Does anybody know a way around this?
Update: May have found the answer. I'll have a look when I get home from work.....
-Please don't add any questions for the time being.
Feel free to add as many questions as you like. I've managed to sort out the problem.
Looking for the Free version

A few people have been confused by this now, so I've edited the post slightly to make it clearer.
You'll find them at the bottom of the first post.
P.s. To all, don't forget to leave feedback positive or negative. All ideas/suggestions are welcome. PM me or leave a message on the thread.
Also, add as many questions as you like.
Thanks,
Just Me/Kermagod.
Not as popular as I'd hoped (i.e. Nobody submitting questions). Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Hey everyone, my group just finished working on our first android application. We are making it as part of a project for our CST200 class. We decided to make a simple fun to play all around trivia game developed for Android 2.1.
Features:-Eight categories to choose from with 45 questions per category, that’s a total of 360 questions!
-Trivia games are round based, with five questions per round and a total of three rounds each round getting progressively harder.
-Ability to save a game mid way through
Installation Instructions:1. Copy TheTrivia.apk to your phones SD card.
2. Next you will need a file manager from the market place, you can use any you want however we tested using “ASTRO File Manager” and found it working.
3. Locate the application in the file manager, open it up and hit install.
4. The application should now be installed to your phone and you should be able to run it just like any other application.
There might be a few bugs, but it should run alright.
I just want to say, its very interesting and it kept my attention, the only part that I was noticing, is the sound when you get an answer wrong, it is a bit excessive. I tried the video game category and got most of them wrong, but then again I havn't played that many games. All in all, it deserves an A.

I think that might be a problem with our randomizer, I'll try to look into it.
Almost have the highscores working correctly, really busy with finals but when I have time I'll post an updated version. Also I know some of the answers are actually hardcoded wrong so I'll try to fix some of those too.
Awesome idea, I'll give it a shot and report any bugs.
really cool idea... we need MORE MORE MORE questions tho!
love the concept. i will try this on a couple of phones and leave feedback. thank u for sharing!
You could get a lot of other questions just by getting some IRC trivia bots. The have the questions in txt format. ( or at least to let you browse and select one such file where the questions are nicely formated within a text file. )
Support for QVGA would also be nice.
Not bad.
Just tried your game & it's good but for me i just wish the text for the questions was a little bigger. At least make it the same size as the text in the answers.Thx.
This is a great idea. Would be truly amazing if you could play against friends kind of like wordfeud.
This works great. Installed on 2 wvga phones. Will play more. Only thing I found so far is a wrong answer. A question in sports. An NFL team called the aints should be the Saints not Chiefs. Another thing, I think print should be bigger. Thank you for this app. Would love to see online compitition like trivia at Buffalo wild wings

My high scores don't save. When typing my high scores, I have to delete the words in the text box. In the sports question about NFL players decade they got names on their shirts, 2of the answers are both 1970

Any more development planned? This could be really great. I can't believe nothing like this is available yet.

Dear XDA-Community,
It has come to my attention to all the dislike comments on the YouTube android app in the marketplace and somewhat on this forum. After countless problems in the app ( stops, freezes, crashes etc) I decided to take charge of this situation. Instead of blasting the developers of the app, I decided to help them... With that said I have created a video explaining the problem I'm personally having with the application, also I took it a step further and created a web-based form with a series of questions. This is was all done 3 days ago and believe or not the YouTube team has responded to me and thanked me for my work. They also wanted me to send the data I collected from my form. So by filling out the form from the link below, I'll be able to send it to them and they can access the problem.
So what I'm asking you guys to Do?
1) Please visit the form and answer all the questions. (Click Here)[est. 35 secs]
2) Watch the video I posted and comment on it. (View Here)
3) That's all, watching the video is completely optional, but filling out the form is required.
Without them knowing our problems how do expect this situation to be fixed? Let Us Help Them Help Us

Thanks for taking up the case with Google regarding the new app.
Will keep an eye on this, Sam.
I find it strange how some people have major issues with some apps and others don't. The youtube app works great for me.

Great Idea! good job =P
maybe now they'll start moving their a**es and fix the damn app..
this is what I like, people who doesn't just talk and complaining but do something useful.
I like your style man. Willing to fill in the form, but I'm not having any problems with my YouTube App (which I use on regular basis)

Its a good initiative!!! althought I am using the app over wifi.. i didn't see any problem yet.. I still gave the survey
Dear Forum,
Come on and help pass this post around and get memebers to complete the survey. Youtube can't do much when they have less than 20 submits. For them to actualy get a good feedback there needs to be at least 50 survey respnses. I'm kinda disappointed becasue everyone sits and complains but, when theres help or a way to fix the problem nobody likes taking action.
PLEASE TAKE THE SURVEY

maybe we should get this onto the XDA portal; pass this onto the news crew so they publish it on to the XDA front page
Yes we should. Thanks Again!
Great! Thanks!

If so that's amazing! Glad they Added this feature

Honestly I'm the same.
It should've been there since the start. But then again, iOS doesn't have it. So it seems like were not "late".
It would be good if the user got an email notifying them that the Dev has replied to them.

Wish they could let other users reply to reviews as well. I get really annoyed when I see someone leave a bad review for an app due to their lack of knowledge. For example any popular app that clearly states it requires root will usually have some 1 star reviews saying it doesn't work on my phone.

Don't get me started on that. And also the "how do I root my [email protected] <insert phone here>???!!!?!" comments. They're just utterly childish. But we do have the option to rate the comment down.
Haven't seen any other Developers using the new feature yet (better give them time, it only came out yesterday ), but hope the use it soon. It's useful.

Same. developers have to feed all users even if the requests are stupid, otherwise they will get 1 star. Why not also rating to users?
And this is only offered to TOP developers at this time.
come on devs give this to normal devs already

15th of August 2014.
Cordyceps has a foothold in humans across the globe. This fungal-based infection rapidly reproduces in the brain of the host, influencing their actions and eventually resulting in physical deformation.
You're a survivor. You don't know if there's anyone else.
Over the past month you've noticed something strange in the behavior of the infected, they appear to travel in packs; although packs may be the wrong word. A 'Swarm' is a more appropriate way to describe the hundreds of infected pursuing lone survivors.
You don't know when the people you used to call friends are going to come for you but you do know that they will. Armed with nothing more than your own two feet you have to delay the inevitable, but for how long?
This is Swarm.
Please message me about any glitches or errors that occur and I will gladly fix them!
I'm also willing to take any suggestions you have, and will include ideas for new zombies.
A review or a share would help me out a lot, everything in the game including the 'artwork' (I use the term loosely) was produced by a single developer.
-----Copy and paste from the Play Store, and yes I'm hopping on the 'cordyceps' hype train after experiencing the brilliant 'The Last of Us'. Everything in this game was made by one person who is fairly new to it all. The game is somewhat a work in progress and I will no doubt add more feature and more types of zombies in the coming days. The game is struggling at the moment so I appreciate any buys I get, hence the lowered price to £0.50, this may go up as the game becomes more polished and sells more!
Thanks a lot for reading, I'd appreciate any ideas, and would love your 50p's
If an experienced member of the forum wants a review copy I'd be happy to issue one!

I've got them both.
Concerning the game: It sounds interesting, but have you thought of providing a trial version? And some more pictures in the Play Store showing off more of the game would be nice, too.
I'm not gonna buy an app, no matter what it costs, out of the blue sky, without trying it first. You cannot rely on your reputation as developer, as we all don't know you.

Atm is exactly the same as the paid version is, however once the trial version in finished I will being taking a more RPG style approach with the paid version and it'll have things the free version doesn't. I don't know if I described that well but its all explained on the store page.
this doesnt exactly have to do with mobile devices , but im sick of techhelpspot results appearing in most of my google searches that would otherwyse send XDA results, the only thing that site does is steal the info here in the forums, and then giving you a link to xda (and other tech sites)
i cant see a way to block it , so i wanted to make sure its not something in my pc hijacked or anything else.
example using google.com (us) example search: galaxy s3 clock aokp
here is an example image with results:

another one: atrix hd swype apk
any idea why is this happening or if its only me?
i hate to go there just to click on a link that will bring me here, i think that site is new, xda results used to come on top before.

It's basically a search engine but designed for finding similar questions. Kind of useful, but also a bit annoying.
When you do a Google search, just include
site:forum.xda-developers.com
At the start and it will only search within the XDA forums.

XDA wasn't even on the first page, yet all the information on techstupid was from XDA...
After submission, Google suggested this add-on https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-webspam-report-by/efinmbicabejjhjafeidhfbojhnfiepj , which I have to say I will use relentlessly, and I recommend you do the same. It allows you to navigate to the webspam site, then click a button and have the form auto-filled for you.
Maybe even better though, is this add-on, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/personal-blocklist-by-goo/nolijncfnkgaikbjbdaogikpmpbdcdef which allows you to click "Block xxxxx.com" from the search results. I think I'll report a few hundred techstupid pages and then click the blocker.
Hope this helps someone else!
