solution?
if you hold the power buttonand the home button down at exactly the same time it'll take a screen grab for you - No need for an app for it!

that's not true. the functionality was taken out
You can just use the sdk. connect your phone and in the tools folder there is a file named ddms.bat. Run that, click your phone on the left and on the menu select device then screen capture.
Of course you need the SDK installed and your phone has to be set for USB debugging
Here is a SS I took with it:

I have perm temp root, and have tried 3 screen shot apps. One gave me black horizontal bars through my screen shot, the other 2 gave me totally unrecognizable garbage images. Has anyone used a root screenshot app that has produced a good image?

If you have adb working try taking a screen capture from the ddms.bat file in the SDK tools folder!
you can install droid explorer and take screenshots from your pc. plus do alot of other things.
it will even install the sdk for you.

It's a combination of two really awesome apps I discovered. One is called Desktop Visualiser, and the other is called SiMi Folders. Both are really impressive. Having all of the tiles (which are actually widgets) does use a lot of ram, but this phone easily handles it.

You need to apply a theme so your phone had to be rooted ifa you want it on the right side of bar
Otherwise you can use progs like circular battery but they goes on the left as a notification

Other alternatives?
Are there other alternatives aside from Button Savior and zSmooth? I've used both and each has pros and cons. Currently I prefer Button Savior. I'm just wondering if there are other apps that do the same thing.

REQ: Customize icon for remapped button
Thank you. Very useful app.
Especially when holding a tablet in portrait mode Android's back button has a very unconvenient position.
I remapped the call-button to a dictionary. It would be a nice feature to show the app icon instead of the standard icon.
I stumble upon this on HTC's website looking for any accessories and i been trying to get it to work but can't...

How can I take a screenshot on the phone?
You can capture a screenshot by pressing on the Power button and then the Home button.

it works. keep trying. very easy to mess it up and end up on the home screen or selection menu. its all in the timing.
Everyone I have heard from on this subject has said that this feature was removed for some reason, and I can confirm that shootme does not work on QHD screens, I have downloaded Dropcap2 from the market and it seems to work well.

i think im going to call HTC out on this one....giving customers specific instructions on how to take a screenshot and it does not work at all.
how is this suppose to work when soon as you hit the power button the screen cuts off that probally why they disable it
Is there an app or a hack that will allow just a "single tap" on the unlock screen to unlock it?
I am currently using NO lock screen (NOLOCK) which works fine but sometimes causes pocket dialing.

That's a good start, thank you, but due to a physical handicap tapping a 4.5" screen on any spot is much easier than hitting that small spot.

I see, so you have to tap the LOCK ICON. That's getting closer to what I need but what I really need is to be able to TAP ANYWHERE on the lockscreen to unlock like my iPhone did. Due to severe rheumatoid arthritis in my hands the larger the target the easier it is to hit the spot which is why I like the larger 4.5" screen.
Sorry, nm...

Maybe I am misunderstanding you. That "LOCK" ICON between the sliders, is that what you use to unlock your screen? If so I can't figure out how to get that. I went through every menu and every ICON and see nothing like it. It's driving me crazy.
I still think your best bet is the no lock screen. Even if you have tap to unlock you'd be just as likely to have a pocket dial, if it's just one extra tap anywhere to unlock...

Only way to get rid of a virus on android is to factory reset it, if you are unable to reset it normally you can go into recovery mode and from there you can Reset.
The "You Need Antivirus" dialogue itself is just an advertisement. You probably installed an application recently that keeps making Ad shortcuts on your homescreen. And all these ads are just slowing your phone down. What app did you install before this started to happen? Try deleting the most recent installed apps and see if it fixes the problem!

hmm well you need to rememeber what app you installed around the time you began seeing the ads. If you can't remember then try using "Ad-Network Scanner & Detector" from the Play Store. It will probably help you identify the application causing these Ads
