[Q] UPDATE: morfics Dev fund

UPDATE:
Fist of all, BIG thanks to all that donated! This was a very awesome and unselfish thing that you all were a part of. As all of you might have read, and in case you didn't, morfic said:
"Thanks everyone, I'll be working on things this weekend, just gotta stay out of trouble with wife, so no feature promise.
In case anyone else feels compelled to still donate: Think who really helped you, find their donate button and donate to them!"

i would gladly donate a few dollars to help the great morfic get this phone but we have to come up with some sort of benefit for the people that dont know what he does or have never used his work.....

id say only people that donate to him can use the pre released beta/alpha kernels he makes....
but that never really seems to work and get alot of interest...

i think maybe every dollar we donate to him he should also add to the pot...
i.e. i donate 15 bucks he puts in 15 bucks
so its not all of the community paying for his device just helping him
or maybe he should send out thank you android cards made from his blood and sweat to anyone that donates.....

Yes he is a great dev. I'll set up a fund somewhere, let me see what i can do. Might not get to this tonight but i will get to it. I have been talking to him all day today and he is a great guy. Just for the record I will probably be throwing in 50 bucks myself.
I would like to ask you people if you have time, can you try to help spread the word?

In terms of a fund, why don't you have one of the mods here hold onto it. Mikey1022 and Ryanmo5 are good guys. That way people knew it was going to the right cause Just a thought

Agree with this! Maybe make a Facebook group like TW/EDT.
TW once release a built exclusive to the FB group and everyone respected it and there was no leaks!

Based on my geek level, a dropbox.access on.a.shared folder if people prefer this added benefit, I can do similar over mailing list to unpublished links on my host.
Not much of a fb guy.

im in for 15 as well. i havent personally used any of his work since i've never owned a vibrant, but i've certainly heard a lot about him.

this doesnt belong in development. and A) did you send the guy money? if yes you did it with no contract or obligation. if you have regrets there is nothing anyone can really do to help that. and B) dont pester the devs, the guy was highly requested. people were just throwing money at him, it's been a couple days since he actual recieved the phone in his hands and now you want to take that money back?

Wow, thats messed up. chill out... He just got the damn thing

if people pestered me to buy a device that i didnt want so i could make a rom then pestered me to get the rom out on a schedule i would make them wait too.

Like the rules of other good roms, don't ask eta's. If the have one they will let us know.

Hey I was just asking.... I wasn't pestering him nor do I know him on a personal basis.... so I wouldn't have an idea if he bought the device or not. Yes I donated money to him this time and I donated money for his serendipity rom on the cappy as well.
Its just a question... just to see whats going on... Did I say to have the money back? Noooo...
As well as there are devs such as GTG who is throwing up great ROMs in the meantime....
If people are chipping in money to get him a device, I was just asking whether if he was working on it.

The last sentence of your original post was rude since he just purchased the device. We all appreciate your donation to help but do not expect a ROM from him in 1-2 days. It is a donation without commitment on time from him. Based on Mike's work on other ROM's from the Captivate, I expect we will see great things from him on the Infuse in the near future. Your approach could have been better and posted in the correct forum.

Perhaps we can send you a donation to cover the donation you made to him to release you from this torture? Seriously dude, give the man time and you will be better respected around here. Asking to move your donation to another developer after the guy just bought the phone is uncalled for at this time.Can you whip up a decent new ROM from a new phone in a day?

Maybe you know him personally, but I didn't know he just bought a phone. Last I heard in the general thread, which was like 2 weeks ago, he was too busy and didn't have time to buy a phone....
I didn't say anything after that.... so I thought ok, well maybe he won't have time to work on a rom for this phone....

Yes, he announced in another thread that he got it on Monday. I do not have the link but he has it. I apologize about my remarks since you did not know however, you can be a little more polite in your initial post asking if he even has it by eliminating your last sentence in your original post and posting to General forum since this is not actual development.
Maybe try sending him a PM instead next time especially since you donated. Again, we all appreciate your donation to make this possible. Just have a little patience and I am sure we will have a great new ROM soon.

It's been working very well for me with improvements everywhere. I'm actually surprised this is not the final version as it feels pretty solid to me. Seeing how well this version is working it seems as if they must be close to completion. And if this version did not pass testing then they must really be putting a lot of emphasis on quality.

I don't think anyone intends to lie. I think they are guilty of embelishing what they have heard or think. We take that embelishment and do critical reviews to the tune of multiple threads with alot of views and replies.
I would think the 1place you could get controlled information that is close to the source would be lg's own forum. They may not be reading from a script but betcha they are reading from something close to official.
From the sounds of it, 2 more weeks. I think someone here said July 15th....and the winning number is...

how about instead of a bunch of half-witted liars testing it they give us a dump of what they have so far, release the source code and let us test it and the devs help out with the process

For those asking daily about updates

Guys, I know we have a lot of new people joining daily but lets take it into consideration that these guys are doing this on their FREE time so lets keep this respectful towards them and quit asking daily whats going on or when the next update will roll out.
Have been seeing a lot of this happening lately.
I enjoy flashng things just as much as you all do thats why we are here but when they have some new news or any updates I promise they will post it.
So give these guys a big thanks and if you feel like giving extra buy them a beer, I didn't write this to call any particular person out or start a bashing thread, but as a genuine courtesy call

You must be new up these forums. Its always starts like this with new Devices. Too many noobs.

As one of the 2 devs in here, I just ask that everyone give lfaber06 and I the time we need to get the job done with quality. Constantly asking or demanding things, and requests for updates and why something takes so long to get out....
Even if it is an "emergency" to you, just hang tight and we will all as a community help you out.
And above all Search first for gosh sake, before posting a new thread. I have seen 10 threads about the new update and root for the new update and how to keep root for the new update.... all of these have been posted as far back as 2 months ago now, for the 2.3.6 update.... we have seen it all in here already with cheesecake.

Actually I have a decent build of CM7, but ran into a glitch. Both lfaber06 and I are looking at it right now, it was booting, but now it is acting real weird and it won't boot after a flash, and we can't even get anything from logcat on first boot, and lfaber06 saw some even weirder things after the flash and first boot.
So it is back to the drawing board for the moment... lfaber06 and I are both looking at it right now though. I have a feeling that CM7 will be ready before CM9, but I am guessing it is still a few weeks away right now.

So what's happening to v5 of supercharged rom? Is it at a standstill cause of the update?

Im going to agree with you on this being a good group here. I just came from the infuse and those forums are terrible with people being rude. Ive done my share as well. There may not be much development here yet but i'm glad I got the A2 because of the good support here and the quick responses. You guys have done a good job already getting a lot info out about this phone.

The source code was released for the SU660. while the SU660 is similar to the G2x, it is not identical. There is still a good bit of work involved in getting it functioning on our phone. The people who can make it work are diligently working on it, it just takes time.

ya i feel you iv been using the nightlys of cm 7 currently im on the 20121028 build and have been waiting for months for official kernels to hit so i could upgrade all the way finally and before we could do that they came out with jb im just waiting on someone to get it right so we can all catch up to the rest of the world.:crying:

I understand the source code for cm10 has been released for the su660 and that it will only be a matter of time until we get something. idk. G2x is now an "old" phone. how long do Devs really work on a phone before they get tired of it? seems to me that dev like to stay cutting edge....g2x is now the dull part of that cutting edge. I love my G2X. no doubt. and i hope that someone will keep dev for it. i may have to start teaching myself this stuff just so i can make custom roms after everyone else moves on lol.:fingers-crossed:
