Hello Everyone,
I have I896UXJL1 rom on my rogers cappy. I am missing the csc file due to which kies is unable to read my phone. Any help where I can find that.
Thanks
dead end???
You could odin one click to stock then kies mini up. That only way I could think of.

Will it read it after odin 1click you stock? Cause it will replace your csc

For some strange reason, when I download thru 1-click, my phone just gets stuck at the att boot screen. i can then get into recovery only thru a jig as my 3 button combo does not work. I was thinking if I could get a csc file for rogers, i can install it thru odin alongwith the firmware.
I found a file. Even though kies reads the firmware as I896**** it adds ATT in the end. But all the other info is of the rogers

OK. On my last phone I immediately started playing with ROMs and lost my 3 button recovery as well as the ability to get and use OTA updates.
While I'd like to play with the ROMS and such, I'd like the ability to restore it to where it is today. 100% stock ATT.
Is there some way to make an image or something of my exact phone that I can use with odin or something later to get it back EXACTLY like it is today?

check out the forum sections. They have great video tutorials on how to rom. There is also a prog called odin3 which puts your phone back to stock.

Actually Odin does not return to your stock. That's why many Captivates lost 3button recovery when they used Odin and phones recovered with Odin will no longer do OTA updates.
I would like to avoid those pit falls before changing ROMs.

Msube answering my own question. Will clockwork recovery do the same as Odin, except get me back to where i am now?
Since I'll need to root/unroot, will my phone ba any different after the unroot than before the root?

Like a snapshot. I agree, would be nice
From my understanding odin will get you back completely to stock if you are trying to send the phone to at&t for repairs. I believe it is/made from leaks from at&t

Nope. If it flashed completely to stock there would not have been all the phones that lost 3 button recovery after using it (apparently because it changed the sbl.bin file which is apparently NOT the same on all captivates). You also would be able to get OTA updates after using Odin, which once again, my phone and most others won't.
I suspect that there are minor differences between the software in various run of phones as new chips and programs were tried to correct issues. Odin is based on the software from ONE of these variations (maybe not even a Captivate). Odin will get you phone where you can use it and close enough to stock get it past the exchange flunkies, BUT IT IS NOT THE SAME AS WHEN YOU BOUGHT YOUR PHONE. At least not in all cases.

So, is there some way to get it back to the default, out of the box, AT&T ROM?
I don't know. That's what my original question was. I had a phone dtraight out of the box. For that matter, even now I only have rooted so I could do a clockwock back up. I was looking for a way to make an exact copy of my phone thst I could put back on latr. If anyone knows how, apparently they don't want to share.

I'm also interested in this.
If you have root and a copy of busybox installed could you just. "dd if /dev/pathtocopy of /dev/pathtowrite" to create a drive image?
Can it be that straight forward?

Interesting. So ODIN is "like" stock. Kinda scary to know you can never go back!

Sort of odin is exasperating existing problems. The loss of the 3 button recovery is an issue with some builds. My build is among those but I have had no problems. As for the loss of kies support I imagine it is somehow related to the loss of 3 button recovery because I have been able to update after flashing to odin
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
If you lost 3 button recovery you most likely flashed JF6 firmware. You have two options, flash JF6 with 3 button fix or flash a newer at&t firmware such as jh7. I'm Canadian so I don't know if it will work 100% but in my limited experience it will at least fix the 3 button combo not working. If I flash JF6 on my i896 I loose my 3 button recovery too unless I use one with a fix included. Also kies tells me there is an update available when I have JF6 installed with the 3 button fix. Search xda for the image or I can post link later.
Edit: The one click made by Disigngears doesn't work for me, I use the 512.pit file and JF6 with three button combo image file that you can get for odin3.
Sent from my phone using the XDA app.
Some people got 3 button back with the jh7 update. Some (myself included) didn't. Also Kies is not the same as OTA. You should be able to get updates without plugging your phone into the computer.
BUT, I was using that as an example. I would like to be able to return to what I am TODAY. I don't know what other changes are being made by Odin that may bite me later.

Well, corruption of IMEI was a problem with Odin too, but it's easy to restore if you are trying to unlock your phone. I guess you could do a nandroid back up and a rom manager backup and try using them together to restore to exactly what you have now. So far I haven't had any problems with flashing with Odin on a 1010 build, but OTA updates have been unusable, but they just bricked phones anyway. There is also a kies update available too. If you wanna be a test subject, try buying Root Explorer (well worth it) and copy all the files in the root of your system partition into a folder on an external sd card or something.
So I flashed a few T-Mobile roms over time and used the tar file to go back to stock with Odin. When I pull up the phone in kies it says I cannot upgrade firmware and under current firmware it shows (tmb) at the end of the firmware line. When I had my cappy I had to hex edit the code for the phone for kies to recognize it. Wondering if there is a similar procedure for the rocket?

I am having an issue with odin 1.85. Two days ago I had flashed my Skyrocket to the leaked ICS. I had done so by using the one-click method. The flash worked out great but now I am tring to flash back to stock. I am doing this because I did not do my research enough and found a better flash to use.
When I plug the phone into the computer it is reconized and all the drivers are installed. Odin sees my phone and the correct port it is connected to. I have clicked PDA and picked the stock rom like I am suppose to. After I put the phone in download mode I plug it in and wait for odin to reconize it. Everything is working the correct way up until odin tries to flash. I keep getting the " Can't open serial (COM) port" error.
I am not new to modding phones. I have done this for many years I just have not ever posed here. So before I get the usual responses, I have uninstall and reinstalled all the USB drivers, Kies, changed USB ports, and had downloaded Odin 1.84 & 1.85. None of these common fixes help. I have also made sure that Kies is not running while I am tring to flash.
Any help would be great. Thank you ahead of time.
When you open Odin, are you right-clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator"? If not, doing this might help.
I've had this happen but I found that it usually works after a few attempts if it fails at first. Or, another common solution that you didn't mention is trying to do it from a different computer.
Also, which stock tar are you flashing? There are a few versions out there.
The best one to use is found at http://www.sammobile.com (open an account if you haven't already and search for the i727 firmware).
When I've had trouble with Odin I've found sometimes that using a previous version will help resolve the problem. If you have kies uninstall it. The drivers will stick

Just to reiterate, you do NOT want to use that tar. It is not stock and it will trip your flash counter. Use the one from sammobile.

So I finally got home and used my other laptop. Everything worked great! I used the firmware from Sammobile but it still tripped my counter. Not a big deal but it did for whatever reason. I think the problem was the laptop. I am not sure why. It doesn't have bluetooth or anything odd that would be using the com ports. Its a Toshiba if you guys see anyone else with the same problem tell them to switch laptops.

The way to fix that bootloop is to wipe from recovery but you cant access the recovery.. the firmware that you got.. is that your tablet's stock firmware? I mean.. every country has its own firmware.. and every tablet has its own stock firmware.. depending on the country you're in.. when im having that bootloop every time when i flash HC.. especially when i flash HC over ICS ( whenever i do something stupid and got stuck on bootloop ) my way out of the bootloop is wipe from Hc recovery..

Make sure you have a firmware that includes a ".pit" file.
Check (enable) "rePartition" in Odin when you flash
Make sure that the file you use is for your model and country.

Best place to find specific firmware - http://live.samsung-updates.com/index.php?device=GT-P6200. The list is sorted by release date, so look through the entire list for your version and region.
You could possibly have a GT-P6200L or -P6201 (depending on your region/carrier), which you can select in the drop-down list on right side of the page.
I don't know if .pit file is included in the .tar.

Ok thank you for Helping me alot
I will now download my stock firmware and ill try flash it
ill just post if something would happen
thanks again to all who helped me
I think that im on a big trouble now...my Pc wont Detect The Tab now (it says unrecognize Device) but it knows that the tab is connected to the PC
and when i charge the tab it shows a loading battery sign the one with rotating circle and it just stays like that even if i charge it whole day
it started happening when I tried to flash a different firmware in short i flashed a firmware which is not my stock
The firmware i download was a honeycomb firmware XXXXXXX.tar.md5 file on a zip
and so when i extracted the zip winrar said its corrupted (file size is the same i downloaded it without a pause or anything)
and so i just continue the extraction
and then i tried to flash it with odin and odin said md5 mismatch
SO I removed the md5 on the file so it would be XXXXX.tar
and now PC wont detect tab on Download mode and I cant get into recovery mode
any suggestions?

I'm not expert but from my dealings with Kies its pure crap lol. Though I would make sure to use a rear (not front) usb port and official samsung cable and try again with Odin with the tab in Download mode, if you can.
I think the steps here would apply (ignoring the different key combination for the tab plus and the stuff after the flashing part at the start)

finally solved the problem, after more tinkering with it, was able to go into download mode again by just pressing again the power button and the volume down button at the same time (funny thing i tried this method earlier but won't go to download mode but after leaving it on the table for an hour and getting back at it, worked fine). while tablet is in download mode, i run odin again and this time i used version 1.85, loaded the official U.K. version JB tar.md5 file, connected the cable and waited for it to be detected (windows did an auto update) and waited for the :id.com tab to light up to yellow color (by default only the auto-reboot and the F.reset was checked) and click start again and everything went fine. now i have jellybean and rooted it with framaroot(no hassle one click rooting process by alephzain, if it does'nt work just uninstall the .apk). my table is now a rooted jellybean
Galaxy s2 Skyrocket was running 2.3.8 I believe. Tried to upgrade my firmware with Kies. Got an error message, yet when attempting a Emergency Recovery or Upgrade and Initialization it fails every time. I also cannot get the phone off of the "Firmware upgrade encountered and issue" scren ---This is even after I hold both volume buttons and hit the UP to CONTINUE--- I have tried the Odin3-v1.85 but it says that philz_touch_6.10.3-skyrocket.tar.md5 is invalid (Got that off of the top of the page of threads)
Any help at all is so appreciated.
Kies is a pos. Use Odin to flash the firmware you want. See the stickies in the development forum

I'm not sure what you mean by .mda. I'd recommend you go to sammobile.com and download the ucmc1 firmware then use this guide and Odin to flash it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26056924
